Linux usb or 8473

To all,

Neither usb-8473 can be used on a linux machine?

-Cosmica

Hello

Unfortunately, there is currently no driver for Linux OS CAN.  I've already put in a suggestion of product for this on your behalf, and I encourage you to do the same here.  I apologize that this feature is currently unavailable for this device.  Have a great day!

Kind regards

    Hello

As far as I know that booting from USB stick or HARD drive is not supported by the BIOS for this series of mobile.
As far as I know you can boot from the HARD, ODD, LAN and USB FDD (floppy) disk, but I think that you can not boot from USB HDD.

  • Import of flash bootable Linux USB under VM player?

I have a USB flash drive which is a bootable Linux installation. I can boot a laptop of this flash drive.

Is it possible to import the as a virtual machine in vmware fusion?

If you ask in the context of directly using the file > import... command in VMware Fusion, the answer is none.

If you have y at - it is a way to create a Virtual Machine, using the USB itself as a mass storage device or the USB device as a virtual hard drive, the answer is Yes.

Why do you want to create a Virtual Machine from the USB device?  I ask in order to provide the best solution to actions.

It might actually be faster to create a Virtual Machine Linux using the ISO Image of Source used to create the Linux USB bootable and then if needed/wanted to transfer data specific to the user or other files on the virtual computer.

The best thing to do is to start the USB device connected to a virtual machine using the Plop Boot Manager.  That would go for the BONE from the USB stick attached to a Virtual Machine Linux to the empty address and therefore everything that follows Plop Linux load chain happening all simply the USB device.  (I want to update my KAV rescue USB Linux.)

Another way is to use vmware-rawdiskCreator to create a virtual hard disk of meta-data hard and then either use it as what or use vmware-vdiskmanager to create a normal file disk based hard virtual hard, which could be added to a Machine virtual Linux empty run from.  Note If using vmware-rawdiskCreator to create the virtual hard disk meta-data hard to add to a Machine virtual Linux to address empty it must be added manually, by modifying the .vmx config file, because it will be not selectable market thought the Wizard New Virtual Machine or Virtual Machine settings.  On an additional note, you may need to change the installation when created directly from USB this way and why at the beginning, I mentioned "that being said, it might actually be faster to create a virtual Linux using the ISO Image of Source used to create the USB Linux bootable and then if needed/wanted to transfer the user-specific data or other files on the virtual computer.'." "  A disk hard virtual created byvmware-vdiskmanager .vmkd can be added to the Virtual Machine or by walking through the Wizard New Virtual Machine or Virtual Machine settings.

  • Cannot start linux USB drive on the PC of Compaq CQ2903ES

    Hello

I am trying to install linux on a Compaq CQ2903ES desktop PC. I disabled startup secure on the bios, but the system does not boot from a linux live USB.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Paul,.

I can confirm that following your directions, and starting from a DVD, I could install linux on it. This isn't what I wanted at first, but it helps.

    Therefore, the solution is:

    1. Disable secure boot.
    2. Enable legacy start.
    3. Set boot order (DVD first in legacy trunk).
    4. Start the PC and enter the code + entry.
    5. Again, start with the inserted bootable DVD.

Thank you much for the help.

    Best regards.

I want to install linux (OS Zorin or MATE Ubuntu) on my new ideacentre Stick, but there is no USB boot option in the boot options. Hello

In fact, if you have the directory structure appropriate for EFI boot on your USB (EFI/BOOT/bootia32.efi) it will allow you to boot from USB after pessing ESC at startup and selecting boot options. Even you can get the "boot from file" option, when you select the USB device and look for the EFI boot file manually.

I just managed to install Ubuntu Linux (15.10) to the Ideacenter Stick 300 device, so if you need, I can provide some tips, how :-)

  • How to use USB CAN 8473, code for the basic example

    Hi all.

I use NEITHER USB-8473 CAN transmit and receive data via CAN.

I have traveled a lot a lot of pages related to this and realized that the API will not work for USB - CAN. Can someone tell me please how to use this USB-8473.

Maybe an exaple program would help me. (It is not PCI it we USB,)

    Thank you.

You will need to install NI-CAN, if you don't have already done.  This is the API that you can use with a 8473.  After installing, open Explorer Measurement & Automation and make sure that you can see the 8473 under your devices.

Here is a sample VI (LabVIEW 2009) that I wrote for another developer to make the CAN communication basic tests.  You enter a package CAN as a series of hexadecimal bytes separated by spaces, and it will send it to you.  It displays every CAN packet it receives in the same format.

  • cRIO 9067 to hired 7fh USB RS232

    Hello

I have a cRIO 9067 and would like to interface with an instrument that has a converter USB-RS232 from SiLabs.  I can't comminicate with this instrument easily on a Windows PC.  I am able to see the device in MAX when its the cRIO connection.  IT appears under "Devices and Interfaces" as "USB0::0x1FB9:0 x 0100: 121A00A:RAW ' with model number and description of the device.

I followed the description at this link, but I don't get a ttyUSB # devices.

    https://decibel.NI.com/content/docs/doc-34827

Is it possible to get this working on the cRIO as a serial port?

    Thank you.

After some research, talk with people, NOR google and to talk with people to lakeshore.com (provider of the device) this is what I have reconstitute on how to make this work:

    • Under Linux, usb devices are listed automatically, and by default, will appear as a USB RAW device

    • Once the USB device has been identified, it can then subsequently be linked to a driver

    • Linux determines if and when to link each device USB-based device Vendor ID (VID) and the model identifier (MID). It is usually 3-4 digit hex string.

    • In the case of the Lakeshore 121 power source, VID = MID 1FB9 = 100.       I could see in MAX for the Raw Device USB.

    • There are two levels of USB-serial device drivers. The first pilot: usbserial.ko is a generic driver that handles all USB-serial devices. This should be loaded for any USB-serial converter.

    • The second driver is specific to the chipset for the USB-serial device.       For the cRIO, there are three options which are pre-installed (DFT, 7fh and a few others)

    • The drivers can be found at /lib/modules/3.2.35-rt52-2.0.0f0/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/ (where the kernel version directory may vary)

    • Lakeshore 121 uses the TR labs CP210x chipset, so we chose this one.

    • Records of the device first of all need to be loaded by Linux. Linux can automatically do this by adding files of length zero in the module.autoload.d directory. To do this run the following:

      • CD /etc/modules.autoload.d

      • Touch usbserial

      • Touch cp210x

      • restart cRIO

      • run dmseg. grep usbserial to confirm that usbserial driver is responsible

      • run the dmesg | grep cp201x to confirm that the driver for cp210x is loaded

    • The next step is to associate the cp210x of our device USB device driver. Don't forget that linux associate unit to a pilot from the VID and moy. anyone installed linux cRIO base, I'm sure, knew nothing of the VID 121 Lakeshore and MID.

    • Lakeshore recommended to read the source code for cp210x, adding the VID and MID to the list of recognized devices, recompile the cp210x.ko file and install it on the cRIO. It would work, but it is beyond my current Linux capacity.

    • Linux offers the possibility to dynamically add MID, VID, so that a device can be recognized on the fly

    • When the driver CP210x is loaded, a struchture of the entire directory is created. There is a file because the directory structure called new_id where you can dynamically added VID, mid

    • Create a startup script to run the following command. Be aware of the problems of termination of cr/lf line between operating systems. It is generally easier to create the script on the cRIO with the VI editor to avoid any problems.

      • echo 1FB9 100 > / sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/cp210x/new_id

    • Now, restart (or running the script), you will get a device/dev/ttyUSB [0-9]

    • Unfortunately, the creation of default of the unit ttyUSB [0-9] does not permission to write, so we have need create a UDEV rule to automatically grant writing

    • Add the following lines of code udef.conf in the folder/etc/udev

    #typical devices

    ttyUSB [0-9] * root: ATS 666

    • Create a file named 99 - ttyUSB.rules in the /etc/udev/rules.d folder

    • Add this line of code in this file:

    KERNEL == "ttyUSB [0-9]" * ", OWNER ="admin", MODE ="0666""

    • Restart the cRIO. This should be it! It worked for me.

  • Boot from USB DVD on Lenovo X121e

Hi, any idea how to boot from a recovery disk from Lenovo for Windows 7 on a USB stick on DVD player? The laptop is running cannot run from the Linux operating system. The BIOS utility does not recognize the drive no matter what I select in the start menu (USB, CD, USB FDD or USB HDD) and the F12 boot utility also does not recognize the drive. Incidentally, F12 recognizes the Linux USB drive so I know it works. The external drive is a Leicke DVD R/RW DVD.

The reason for wanting to boot from the Windows 7 recovery drive is to reinstall Win 7 on a new installation, dual boot Linux (Mint), and then install iTunes on WIn 7so I can sync to my iPhone and run everything in Linux. I tried to use an emulator under Linux but unsucessfully Win.

I noticed that this question was asked IO a few years by another Member, but no resolution. Thanks, Nik

    Hello

in order to perform a recovery of the factory of the Lenovo image BIOS Setup menu settings should be:
    -"Boot UEFI/Legacy"-> "both".
    -"UEFI/Legacy Boot Priority"-> "Legacy first.

Select CD USB as a bootable drive.

  • W510: problem booting from USB keys

I tried to start a W510 of various Linux USB key.

The system does not detect the USB and the boot proceeds to a point, but he fails when he tries to find the media - for example, in the case of the rescue system (v1.6.1) cd, it is looking fo the sysrec.dat file that is located on the USB.

It seems that the USB device is not visible to the system booted.

I was able to boot from essentially the same software on a CD.

I installed the latest BIOS 1.32 without a change in behavior.

Does anyone have an idea what could be going wrong?

  • How to boot from simulated USB (flash drive) mass storage device?

I do some development work on the anaconda, the Installer used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux and reconstructions based off of him.  I'm testing support of USB flash drive facilities and would rather test my changes using image files from a USB drive physical - a bit like editing an .iso image to a CD instead of using a physical CD of closure.

I found a reference to the Framework of Linux-USB Gadget API, which looked exactly like what I was looking for.  After the reconstruction of the almond, I was able to run:

    • modprobe dummy_hcd
    • modprobe g_file_storage file = CentOS - 6.2 - i386 - netinstall.iso

After that, the office immediately get the image as if I had actually plugged a USB stick with the same content.

I am also able to connect this virtual USB device to a virtual machine, but when I start the virtual machine, it has no option to boot from the virtual USB device.

    Any ideas?

VMware Workstation does not directly support boot from USB but you can use a third-party utility called Plop Boot Manager to boot a bootable USB disk and you may be.

  • Support USB for ESXi

    Hello community.

There is very little son on ESX 3.0/3.5 and Console of service support for USB devices, so I won't re-collection of information here.  SC is really version of Red Hat Linux, USB support is incorporated.

(But not for the Virtual Machine hosts individual granted.)

My question is about support and USB for ESXi connectivity options.

ESXi does not have a Service Console based on linux but the implementation of BusyBox OS to help with management of the hyper-visiere tasks, how USB support built-in. Support must certainly be there for bootable USB and also more rack KVM now have USB keyboards.

Just a question how to go into the options of USB support?  If SC, then I could use commands #mount and #cp... but no SC as shown above, also no space available in most of the cases on local storage.

Thank you and I will reward points quickly.  Looking for ideas on how to use the USB of ESXi connectiivty options.

If you want the contents of the disc to be visible from the VI client, Yes, you can use VMFS3 as the file system.  If you want to just level console access to the contents of the device (for example a "not supported" or "Not supported SSH" connections), you can use VFAT.  The best way to create a filesystem VMFS3 on this is to use storage management in the VI Client.  I tried not to add additional USB drives, so I'm not sure it will work 100%.

In the CLI, you should be able to look in/dev/disks and see all the disks on the system.  You can use fdisk-l/dev/discs / vmhba32\:0\:0\:0 to see the current map of partition of a disk (in this case, disk0 on vmhba32, which is actually the USB on my ESXi machine).  You should also be able to use fdisk to create a partition (type should be fb) for a new store VMFS.  You can then use vmkfstools to create a file system on the partition that you create - for example: vmkfstools vmfs3 - C/dev/discs / vmhba32\:0\:0\:1.  Be careful with this command, you get the correct HBA, disk and partition number, as wrong could wipe out something important.

  • Synchronization with single device synchronization server

    Hello

This must be a FAQ, but I'm not, so this is. How can I sync data from the server for synchronization to Mozilla to one device?

The context is that I am currently running Ubuntu Linux USB on my computer at home, because the boot on this computer record has been corrupted, so I can't access Windows. I would like to download the synchronization (Favorites, passwords) data from the server to the copy of Linux in Firefox 25. However, all the help I can see refers to coupling devices. I see that I can create a recovery key if I don't have the camera with me, but there is a terrible warning in the dialogue of FF Sync key reset will erase all data synchronization. I don't have access to another machine to pair, as I work at home. I looked at the page 'How to manage my Firefox Sync account' (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-manage-my-firefox-sync-account) and have tried to follow the instructions, but again, I come to a dialogue with the terrible warning, and really, I don't want to lose all my data synchronization on the server.

So, is it possible to sync between a computer and the synchronization server?

    Fred
    www.fredriley.org.UK

Hello fred, you can connect only one device to your existing account synchronization when you have the username, password & the available existing recovery key - you can do so in Preferences > sync > set up sync > I have an account > I don't have the camera with me. so you would need to know the current recovery - don't reset as it will remove all current data on the server as noted in the warning messages.

Another way to import your old data would be if you still have access to the file system of your windows machine. then you could import some files from your old profile windows in your current profile folder in order to restore some data like bookmarks, paswords, history, etc.: recovery of data from an old profile
