Local AIR-CAP702W ethernet ports

Hi all

The new AIR-CAP702W AP have local Ethernet ports 10/100/1000Base-T 4.
On the card, it is written "for wired devices connectivity.

http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/Aironet-700-se...

That's fine, but how manage the traffic on these ports?

  • Are we able to configure ports of theses in access with the different VLAN-ID mode?
In this case the uplink of the AP must therefore in trunk mode.
And where we configure the ports of the AP, on the WLC?
  • Or is traffic from connected devices in these ports encapsulated in the CAPWAP tunnel, as wireless data traffic and ends in the WLC (s)?
In this case, we can choose which port is connected to this VLAN / SSID on the WLC?
  • Or maybe something else?

Thank you for your help.
Jerome

The local 4 x 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet ports support half and full-duplex, auto-negotiation and MDI/MDIX autodetection. Devices that connect must support auto-negotiation if you connect to another mode, say hard configured speed and so on. The port cannot be activated, depending on the version of the code, for example 7.6.100.120 the first pressed the ports are not supported.

For now, (until more control is added in the software) all LAN ports are switch locally, are mapped to the VLAN 702W and do not appear on the Wireless LAN Controller or AP.

Initially, the ports are disabled and can be activated manually via CLI.

This allows to reduce security risks. Here are the CLI commands to enable the ports.

(Cisco Controller)> config ap lan <port id> <enable/disable> <AP-NAME>

(Cisco Controller)> show ap lan <port id> <AP-NAME>

(Cisco Controller)> show ap lan port-summary <AP-NAME>

Hope that helps.

  • How can I transfer the mail, Safari, iTunes, etc of my 2008 MacBook running OS 10.5.8, a new MacBook Pro (with Ethernet port) or a new MacBook Air?

I replace my 2008 Macbook which maxed out at OS 10.5.8, with a new MacBook Pro or MacBook Air.  The Pro has an Ethernet port, the Air is not.  I want to transfer all the data from my application (mail, Safari, iTunes, etc.) for the new Macbook that will run El Capitan.  How can I do?

What machine you're leaning towards? With Air, you have to use ether WIFI or have the old drive on an external drive configuration. With a new Macbook Pro, the simplest method is to use the migration assistant. Access your Macbook in public services and to see, there you have it. Here is a link to what you can do.  http://pondini.org/OSX/SetupLion.html It is said Lion, but it applies the same. Here's what apple says.  https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT204350 you should know that some of the apps in Leopard will be obsolete in El Captian. There you transfer, it can cause problems. I use the thinking that if I can replace it with a download I do this. The transfer or, if there is an update for it.

  • UDP communication via secondary ethernet port on the cRIO-9074 problem.

    Hi guys.

I connected my host pc running LV 2010 my cRIO-9074 port using a main ethernet crossover cable. I want to use the second port ethernet on the cRIO-9074 to read UDP messages, and I want to access these messages on my host. UDP messages are sent from a local network, but for testing I also use a second pc running LV 2010 to send UDP messages.

I configured the ethernet on the cRIO-9074 ports according to this tutorial: "knowledge base 4E0DGASK: Configure the Ports of double Ethernet on real-time controllers'." " My host and primary ethernet port belong to 'Subnet A' while the second port and the second computer, sending UDP messages belong to 'Subnet B' (at the end of my post I will list the masks of ip addresses and the subnet).

For simplicity, I used the VI´s of this example as a basis for UDP communication. The "UDPServerOnRemoteTarget.vi", which broadcast messages UDP, will run on the secondary computer. The "UDPClientOnRemoteTarget.vi", which reads messages UDP, will work on my host pc.

Now, in the 'UDPServerOnRemoteTarget' VI, you must specify two IP addresses (port # remained unchanged at 3363):

1: the IP address of the ethernet port that will be broadcast UDP messages.

2: the IP address of the ethernet port that will receive the messages.

In the #1 case I put the IP address to the IP address of the ethernet on the secondary pc port.

At the #2 I tried to set the intellectual property: a) IP address of the secondary ethernet port on the cRIO, b) IP address of the ethernet on my host computer port and c) IP address of the primary ethernet port on the cRIO.

None of the parameters produced results. I also tried to change the port number, which did not help.

However, if I bypass the cRIO and connect the host pc and the secondary computer directly (by using a cable crossed a regular cat5 ethernet cable), I am able to send and receive UDP messages (the two stand-alone always are on different subnets). I guess that this at least excludes any fault in the VI´s code.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? Is it possible at all to read the UDP messages that are sent to the secondary ethernet port on the cRIO my host pc?

I have searched the entire site OR and forums, but didn't come through all that solved my problem. Most of the other tutorials configuration resembling my case is to import the device sends UDP messages in the project, but which is clearly not possible in my case, or is it?

    My IP settings are:

    cRIO 9074:

    Primary ethernet port: 169.254.62.215

    Secondary ethernet port: 192.168.0.102 (static)

    Host PC: 169.254.58.4

    Secondary PC: 192.168.0.144 (static)

SubnetMask on all ports are the value 255.255.0.0

I hope someone out there can help me out.

    Kind regards

    Phat

    Solved.

Stupid mistake. I was running the VI on the host instead of the cRIO pc, which explains why direct communication between the computers worked. Everything works well when it is compiled for the cRIO.

    Kind regards

To answer your question of capital letters: no, the behavior of your Ethernet card, including its lights, has nothing to do with your telephone modems, current or previous.

Whereas, when I use a map PCI 4 port gigabit port, I can see the progression to go at a speed of tens of MB in the same period.

The only way to have growth to proceed more quickly with the 2 on the main Board gigabit ports, is to set the speed of the 3560 switch

  • Giving n VMs static IP by assigning them to a dedicated Ethernet ports.

We used vmware converter to import one of the physical servers in Vmware.  We had operational and have installed the VMtools on it.  Our server vmware has six ethernet ports.  We would like to assign this server to a dedicated port if possible, but the main problem that we have now it is assign a static IP address.   We have made it through windows and access to our network went from local and internet at the local level only.  When we automatically obtain an IP address, it works very well.  We need the box to have a static IP address.  Any help would be appreciated, I googled for a few hours with no result and looked for discussions in this forum static IP as well.  We run VMWare ESXi with Vsphere 5.1 5.1.

    Thank you in advance.

Can you confirm that everything manually the IP settings are correct, i.e. IP address, subnet, gateway address, mask the addresses of the DNS servers?

If you have difficulties finding the right settings, set the DHCP VM and run ipconfig/all for required values.

  • Installation/running with no colour ethernet port?

    Hello

I read some people having problems installing vmware workstation because their ethernet card is not recognized. I have a question related to that.

I'm about to buy a Dell XPS 13 "ultrabook". Like the MacBook Air, it is not an Ethernet port, a wifi connection.

I'm worried about not being able to install/run vmware workstation and vmware player because of it, or not being able to configure is the networking as bridge.

Can someone please comment on this situation so I can decide if I would be able to use the ultrabook as I want.

I can't speak to the specific computer you're watching however in general there should be no problem installing VMware Player/Workstation on a host system which has no Ethernet however using a virtual network filled with WiFi adapter can be problematic.  It can also be for various reasons, some are due to how routers/switches can be configured, and others may have problems with the host and or VMware virtual network.  Over the years, I've seen different scenarios where using the means of the virtual network filled with WiFi adapter can be a problem and the solution is simple and acceptable sometimes and other times not.

  • Using the second ethernet port to connect to the printer?

Hi I have a Mac Pro 2.1 old school and I'm wondering if I can connect to the network with an ethernet port and connect the latter to a printer?

    If so, how?

    Yosemite running.

    Thank you

Physically, you use a port and a cable to connect to your network and use the second port and a second cable to connect directly to the printer. The printer must obviously have an interface Ethernet himself.

However, you need to configure the second port on the Mac and the Ethernet port on the printer for each manually configured the TCP/IP addresses and these should be in a range of different network to your main network.

If you the main network is something like 192.168.1.1 then your printer and the port on the Mac connection to this need to be in another network, such as 192.168.11.1.

In theory, if the printer supports Hello aka. mDNS, then maybe you can get away with not having to configure TCP/IP addresses for the connection.

The main reasons to use a second separate connection as this would be the performance or security, and frankly I don't think that's really relevant here. This would mean that no other computers on your network will be able to access the printer.

iMac 2013 WiFi works, but slow (25 to 40 Mbps off potential 250 + Mbps. Somedays as fast as 179 Mbps wifi, but not lately) router misplacement slows me down and very hard to change the location of the router. Ethernet cable is good. Cable used to work with the iMac, but now it does not work. Not sure if hardware problem, or if the updates of the AOS has caused. Same cable works always with older macBook and iMac. 270 Mbps with the cable connected to the MacBook. A detailed visual inspection of the port does not bent pins. 1. Open the activity monitor, located in the Utilities folder of the Applications folder.

  • Pavilion HP 11: ethernet port on hp pavilion 11 fried... solution... ?

    Hi all

new to the forum here and decided to join because I have a little problem with my laptop...

I did something stupid today. I tried to program a hitachi PLC with my laptop and accidentally hooked the ethernet cable to the port of evil on the controller (the port that would normally connect to a touchscreen / HMI) with the result that my port ethernet on my laptop got fried. After a few seconds smoke started coming on my laptop from under the keyboard so I quickly janked out cable ethernet. It's only there for a few seconds, but the damage was already done.

On the good side of things: everything seems to work OK again. WiFi still works. Only problem is that this laptop has a single ethernet port and I really need this port.

I took the cover but nothing obvious comes out. I know it's kind of a vague question to ask; but someone would have ideas on what could have broken and how to check what might be broken and what not?

I'm not very familiar with computers is passing, so forgive my lack of knowledge.

    Thanks in advance

A network card is not present, there is a wireless adapter.

Ultrabooks like yours with RJ-45 ports do not have separate wired adapters that can be replaced.

The NETWORK adapter is part of the motherboard and is not replaceable individually.

Given that yours was smoked checked there may be some damage of traces on the motherboard.

With the help of a mulitimeter won't help in any way. Even at big books in ancient times the NIC was part of the motherboard. A ultrabook is not a desktop computer. Motherboards same office have the network cards integrated into the chipset.

Replacing a motherboard, this is how your network port fried will have to be resolved. Otherwise, to avoid the cost of replacing the motherboard, use the USB cable card NETWORK adapter.

Under the guarantee, the induced lesions of the RJ-45 port owner is not covered. It's an excluded damage type.

After upgrade to 8.1 Windows, you should also update the software/driver Display Link
    This is very important!
