location of bootmgr

I want to compress my drive to save space, because it is small enough. I installed Windows, compressed drive, then restarted, and the system would not start because "bootmgr is compressed" apparently the geniuses at M.S. didn't think of things all along.

So, how can I compress my drive except the bootmgr?

Although there are several things you can do to free up space on the system drive, the only real solution is to get a bigger drive.

Directory.  There are seveal startup directories which showed non-Windows in other directories.  Of course, I can't delete all these files.  Anyone has any ideas about why so many copies.  Thank you.

    Hi djmikel,
I just double checked myself and it is not really a problem with these files. Unless you start removing them.
These are system files that are supposed to be locked so that they cannot be deleted.
    Sorry for fear.

  • Cannot start Windows, Windows Setup does not detect the hard disk, Bootmgr is misiing

I have a few problems on my laptop [Acer 3810 t]

    -The first problem
My mobile give me screen "cannot start windows' who have 2 choices: run the Startup Repair tool and boot normally. I chose to fix it, but nothing happens and stuck "starting windows" and gives unmountable boot volume 'blue screen '. the Dungeon of blues screen appear (for laptop is a not restart). So I turned off my phone and turn it back on it. the "could not start" screen again and I chose to start normally. but the result is negative. My portable Dungeon cannot start windows. Because of that I am using the advanced boot option and choose all the boot type such asit cannot load the safemode, last configuration etc, but the result is the same, you cannot start windows. in safe mode, its stuck in loading fileinfo.sys. I do not give up to try again with the advanced boot option. until I have a bad situation. My laptop can only 1 file in safe mode and blues screen do not appear again (my laptop only return at the beginning of start or restart)

    -The second problem
because it cant solved, I want to reinstall my laptop. My OS is Vista 32 bit (pre-installed). I want to install the new operating system, windows 7. I use Dsik Flash bootable USB to install Windows 7. But in the BIOS, it is detected as a USB HDD. So I set my BIOS to load USB HDD to the first order. the installation can be done, but only until the "start Setup" screen and its deadlock. I have it wait up to an hour, but nothing happens. So I'm going to BIOS, change SATA mode to IDE mode AHCI. Then load the USB and go "installation program start screen. but the new problem is the installation of window does not detect my hard drive. So I can not choose the place to install the operating system. I have to load the driver, but I did not. Again to load the configuration to AHCI and IDE, until I get my HDD can detected in IDE mode. So I think I can move easily, I choose custom installation and choose the hard drive to install the operating system. But unfortunately, at the beginning of the process, after choosing the OS, the Installer gives error if installation location the installation failed. (I forgot the error message)

    -The third problem
So far, I can't spend 'startup begins' as well in mode IDE and AHCI. Also bootmgr in my hard disk is missing, so I can't go to move the startup repair or the startup option in my HDD as before

What is the error code that you got with blue screen?

I think that there is a problem with your drive HARD check that by contacting acer...

  • Operating system not found while recorvery troubleshooting + BootMgr missing.

I did everything in my power to try to get this computer to work again. With vista, it's a giant paper weight. I posted here because it is located between the category of drivers and the system recovery.

So, this is what happens... My laptop no longer works a year ago and I failed to fix and abandoned, but this time I have been putting everything I got to fixing. Firstly I had to buy a drive for recovery because that buy thanks to hp in tight bundles and by including only not with the laptop. Drive me out of the area of the black screen in the recovery screen. When you click on the menu comes up saying select the repair disk that you want to repair, and there is nothing on the list so revealing that the computer does not even recognize his own operating system. To fix this madness, I opened and check the panels to ensure that everything has been properly connected it was. After that, I did a reading even more and tried to fix it manually via command prompt, a few hours later I finally understand that it won't work because there is no recognized for her fix operating system. More read later, that I tried to use a parking program called gparted, I wrote to a disk, put it in the computer and restart, the drive is not recognized and I get to square one... Bootmgr missing

It is trying everything, race to the bottom of the list one by one.

You can also try to do a clean install, check with the system manufacturer who will sell the disc not expensive
    Since you already own windows.

  • BOOTMGR is missing Vista X 32

    Hi all

My PC is running Windows Vista X 32. I have 2 drives installed with three partitions.

    Disk 0 = drive (C :) and road (e :)) (two partitions)))

    Disc 1 disc (d :)) =

Drive (C :) = initialization, file of the Active Page, Crash Dump, primary Partition (as shown in the title of the computer management))

Drive (d) = system, active, primary Partition (as shown in the title of the computer management)

Drive (E :) = Primary Partition (as shown in the title of the computer management)

Drive (C :) has EVERYTHING on it Windows, batch files stored.)

Now that above drive (d) shows that the system (a single partition drive), this disc is empty and I want to replace it with a drive high capacity (currently sitting on my desk).  Not knowing any better I removed that drive and installed the new drive (woohoo additional storage space), but alas when I tried to start the PC, the message "bootmgr is missing" displayed.

Using the bios, I changed the order in which readers were consulted to boot from the disk (c), it did not work.  The same error message appeared.  So I have since returned the old drive and changed the boot order in the bios to previous settings.

I rechecked and the only file located on drive (D :) is 'BOOTSECT. BAK' there is no hidden files or folders.

My question is how can I change my PC to recognize the drive (C :) as the system in order to remove and replace the drive (d :))?  If all else fails I end up with the formidable task of reinstalling Vista.

    Thanks in advance

    Struck dumb

    Hello

Since D: has been nominated as player of the [System], you need to fix it by starting with the Vista disk and do a Startup Repair on C: to rewrite it. D: does not need to be reinstalled to do, nor is it important or not there is in fact nothing about it. Because he proceeds to this designation, the boot sequence stops when he cannot locate.

If your system has been preinstalled and you do not have a disk, you can use something like this:http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/

  • Defective HP system restore caused problem is missing Bootmgr

I was getting blue screen crashes on my laptop G62 with messages such PFN_LIST_CORRUPT, then KERNEL_STACK_LOCKED_AT_EXIT and MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. I have checked the forums and tried to update the drivers, restore them to an earlier point, etc., but the blue screen happen durin geach process. As a last resort, I ran the HP System Restore function to get the laptop to its factory settings. However, it has not, and the 0xe0ef0003 error code is displayed. When the computer restarts, the message BOOTMGR is missing appears and I can't clear the checkpoint. I thought that I had done some backup disks, but when I insert them, nothing happens. I can't enter the BIOS either.

    Help, please!

If the Startup Repair tool fix it MBR then will not lost you any data.

You will always be able to make a recovery usb flashdisk or a defined recovery disk. It is the goal of the plan "D".

An alternative would be to buy a disk located recovery HP or an HP partner.

If you live outside of North America you can buy it here.

  • BOOTMGR is missing - where should I put it?

    Hello:

I have kind a unique set up, so my question would seem differs from others ask questions about BOOTMGR!

I have 4 physical hard disk drives, as follows (disk numbers are from the Microsoft disk management software):

Disk 0: 280 GB: healthy Primary Partition G:
    Healthy Active Primary Partition H:
    I: healthy Partition
Disc 1: 115 GB: J: System Primary Partition Active
    K: Primary Partition
    L: Primary Partition
    M: main Partition
02:38 GB disc: Primary Partition Active N:
Disc 3: 465 GB: C: Boot Page File Active Crash Dump, primary Partition
Logical D: (a Win XP Home Edition)
    Logical E:
    Logical O:
    Logical F: (Win XP Pro x 64)

The numbering of the disc is simply how the cables are things - feel free to comment if you like :>))

At various times, all disks have been disks boot for Win 95, 98, XP and now 7.

My question: too, I do not seem to have BOOTMGR on the correct partition/drive - how will I know where to go?

    Thanks in advance.

My question: too, I do not seem to have BOOTMGR on the correct partition/drive - how will I know where to go?

    Hi DameCoklikodelaFolie,

Thanks for posting. If your computer is not in a RAID array, I'd keep the bootmgr on the same drive as the system files (by default, it should go to). To check which drive bootmgr is on do the following.

In Windows Vista or Windows 7:

    Click Start
In the search box type: CMD
In the Start Menu right click "CMD.exe" and select "Run administrator - As"
In the "bcdedit" command prompt window type
This should display information on what disk hard your bootmgr is currently located.

    I hope this helps!

I have a MacBook Pro bought recently which has been partitioned in Mac OS and Windows. By running software on the Windows side, I realized that I don't know how to locate the temporary workspace on this machine. In other words, on a Windows PC, there are files named 'Local Settings' and 'Temp' in which is placed a temporary storage.

Where are their analogues on a Mac, how are they appointed and how to find them?

All phones sold in the United States for the last decade (more or less) have been created so that if you call the number of the emergency services (911), dispatchers will be able to see where you are. This is why they can send the police, fire or ambulance to the correct location even if you don't know where you are.
