You can have two and LR6 will find these photos on the drive?  If I import the photos today on a new external drive and then want to look at the pictures of yesterday, who are on the other drive, LR will find them?

  My first drive becomes full and it seems that things are very slow when I try and take down the images. I thought that maybe the full drive was the problem. My computer is not so old and still has lots of storage. And when I use applications on my computer outside of LR, they are fast.

  Yes, you can do it. In the import dialog box, change the Destination (it's on the right side) and that it points to the 2nd disc.

  I tried to transfer photos from my MacBook Pro 2011 (with Snow Leopard so limited to Lightroom 3) to all new 2016 iMac a friend (with Lightroom 5 not 6) via a portable Seagate external drive which I use to back up the MacBook (with Carbon Copy Cloner). The new iMac and Lightroom 5 were "Virgin", totally blank. Import has apparently successfully, but I found that all the data to develop had been deleted. I applied a 'remove the chromatic aberration' preset on import (I don't know why Adobe doesn't that value by default - can someone explain) but who could do anything with it? Surely develop the data would be stored with the photos in the Seagate, right? Is anyway to add data develop or am I going to have to delete all these thousands of photos and start over from scratch (this time with no presets)? Any advice will be appreciated.

  I was using the wrong command, should have been "import/export * catalogue * ' instead of just 'export/import '. All sorted now. But thanks for your answers.

  You can simply move from one machine to the other catalog (lrcat).

  You can also place the catalog on the external hard drive with the RAW and connect it to the computer you want to work with.

  4 - Choose "Disk management" in the left column of the computer management window. Find the USB in the list that appears in the gray bottom of the center column.

  7. ensure that the radio button to "assign the following drive letter:" is selected. To the right of the present is a drop-down list with the drive letters currently not assigned to all of the drives on your local system. • Looking for the right 4 bay external enclosure

  I was wondering if a usb + 4 bay external enclosure UASP would work for my macbook pro. Bought in June 2015. Retina. 2.5 ghz, i7, with amd Radeon R9 M370X 2048 MB.

  Not really necessary TB cause I use 3.5 "hard drives, so I can't enjoy the speed of tuberculosis in any case. That's why I'm thinking usb 3.0

  And you're right - you shoud not download all the drivers from the AMD website as those who are not designed to run on portable computers OEM.
