loss of performance

I tried El Capitan and none of my important software would go.  I had a backup (and I have little complaints about it) and I was able to restore all of the HD system.  This is part of the software licensed to lose their license and I had to jump through the hoops of fire.  Thus, the system back to work now.  I finally got the right drivers and everything is going well except the performance in general.  Yes, its an old system, but the performance was not bad.  Now, slowly open the window, applications open slowly.  There are a few audio oddities with my PRESONUS, Digital Performer file take 500 to 1,000% or more loading a file.

Are there really free utilities that will help eliminate the cause of the performance.

I'm almost to the point of purchase software to clean and restore performance, but most of them look like problems in itself.

I went through and deleted multiple files - caches, cookies, Java.  I run disk utility and received a passing grade for hard drives.

So, I've had this machine for a long time and I am very familiar with its performance.  He had a brief experience with El Capitan.  Important things did not run.    Started the recovery CD and restore the drive of the entire system, including hidden files, but now it of a turtle and beat me in a way that embarrassed if I was working for a client.  10 times as long to load files.  And even if I have the knowledge and equipment required to perform at least one format of high level with a new partition and restore my data and applications and LICENSES.  I'm too old to cross license hokey pokey and put wheels on my feet to jump through the hoops of real fire.

Are there really good cleaner is not Trojans just all the stuff that has slowed my machine.  The demo versions seem to leave pieces of excrement.  It is easy to remove the app in most cases.  find the entire sample of saddle left behind are designed to look legit.  Most of these demos are exasperating, and it is difficult to get them to never leave you alone again.  This is the are supposed to clean and block nothing.

In addition, Search no longer.  I'll get in a finder window and get maybe 7 700 files should hit on my search criteria.  Spotlight is the same for local files.

Hi all, Im currently new on Toshiba laptops, just got my first one. But this question is for my brother. There an A120 laptop with windows xp. His laptop is generally very well outside of slow down after browsing the internet for 5 minutes of the ish. Initially he sails very well, but then all of a sudden slowing down, but it's not just the internet, the laptop everything slows down, turning off takes a lot of time just like any other process. The internet works fine on all other devices, IE. other computers laptops, xbox, mobile phones etc. His ISP has confirmed that there is no problem with the internet.

Anyone have any ideas? He has already reinstalled XP

Who knows what's wrong there. Install CCleaner and clean OS every time before you turn off laptop.

Might be time for a clean installation of the new OS if your brother use it for years.
You know, we don t know what is preinstalled on it, which is running in the background and what personal configuration on this machine.

  • penalties for non-performance of the major libraries?

My library is growing at about 100 k pictures per year. Now I'm at 250 k. It is not inconceivable that it will change to half a million in a not so distant future. Should I be splitting my library in the annual catalogue so that each catalog contains only 100 k photos? What kind of loss of performance would face if I did this?

The catalog is a modern database file. So there no performance issues when it becomes large.

As a general rule, a catalog is better than multiple catalogs.

Actually, it depends on how you use photos.

For example, my personal photos are all in one catalog, for however many photos coming in.

For my shooting sports and events of shooting, I use a catalog per year for each. For each game/event, the photos are sorted, sorted, deleted, processed, uploaded and archived. After that the photos are archived and uploaded on my site, they are never affected again. At the end of the year, this catalog is archived. The catalog and photos are then removed from my hard drives to work.

  • Remove all lines and insert them into Oracle can make performance worse?

I m working in a project that I need to make a batch update regularly (every 4 months) of excel files. These files have doesn´t excellent key in their ranks.

The development of a code that deletes all lines and inserts the entire base again is easier than one who checks in all the ranks of its primary key and if necessary update. (sometimes may be a key to 5 columns).

My question is: if I delete all the rows in the tables of the insert it again, it will cause tablespace fragmentation and in a future loss of performance?

Is there a way to avoid this?

    Thanks in advance

  • All virtual machines running on ESXi 5.1 statement of Rx packet loss

Can some of you please do me a favor? Find a virtual machine of yours running on ESXi 5.1, preferably 1117900 and let me know if you see a Rx packet loss in performance stats vCenter provides. Each single VM in my environment records packet loss. Virtual machines running on ESXi 5.0 are not related that at all. This also isn't a problem at the level of the host that there is no loss of package noted it.

    This is a known bug-

Currently, we have race 21 VM and received daily complaints about the performance, some days better than others but all well below the level of performance of a desktop computer configured in a way appropriate. We are either duty put an end to the use of the output of this system and return to the standard desktop computers or add an additional server to view VMWare and persevere, we can find the cause of the weak performance of hope.

    Here is the specification of

    The virtual computer running server:

    Dell PE R510, 2 x 6 core Xeon 5670 CPU clocked at 2,933 ghz, 64 GB of memory, TB 1.81 storage Raid 5 using 6-disc 7200 tr / MIN SATA 6 g, NICs 4 x 1 Gbit

I can't see were the loss of performance is. Sometimes the users sessions hang for a few seconds when they choose the various functions in the office or AutoCad, then the system is again significant. Other times the screen quality degrades a bit before clear. For some office programs take an excessive amount of time to load and become available. Sometimes to connect or general file / network access is slow, summary record lists taking extended periods to update or view the content. Sometimes of functions such as print and trace take excessive amounts of time before appear in their respective dialog boxes.

I've attached screenshots of our performance to review statistics. Any help would be welcome.

    Hi Matt,

    Please provide more information.

On a hardware RAID 5 type 6-pin, your number of IOP on a RAID 5 is about 130 IOPS / s based on an 80% writing / reading of 20% ratio.

You use 21 workstations more than 130 IOPS / s, then you're essentially allowing for 6 inputs/outputs by the office without any room for overhead.

Now, if you have moved to 15K SAS with the same amount of battery, you would end up with a result of 304 IOPS / s based on the same report.

21 offices spread over 304 is 14 inputs/OUTPUTS per desktop, but again, no overhead.

Essentially, simply by moving to 15 K SAS, you more than double your IO, but your RAID set is not optimal.

If you went hardware RAID 10 with the same number of PIN, your IOPS / s would rise to 555 based on the same ratios.

21 workstations more IOPS 555 / s 26 IOPS / sec per desktop computer that comes close to the 30-40 recommended for VDI.

If you can afford to go 8 x 600 GB 15 K on your R510, surprise you pleasently with performance - he would net you have a 740 IOP account

21 offices on 740 IOPS / IOPS 35 s / s by the office which is more in line with the recommendation of VDI.

I mine with a range 40 IOPS / sec per office more overhead, and we have no problem on our end here.

Do not give up, with a little more work and planning, you could end up with a great platform - we use the R510 is there as well and love them.

I hope that helps you, it's a great place to ask questions and get answers.

I'm also on Twitter if you want to ask more questions, more than happy to help you!

    See you soon!

  • VMFS extend computing performance impact

    Hi guys,.

I would like to know how I can calculate the impact on performance (CPU resource mainly) to have a BATCH of VMFS extend (I know it's it is not advisable) on an ESXi 3.5 environment?

Indeed, we have prepared 2 ESX Server with 70 VM total and an average of 35% CPU (normally we should have 5%), I want to better manage this problem (as VC report on average 20% of the CPU usage) by eliminating the other thing that can touch the CPU perf... ہ VMFS extension...

    Thanks for your comments

    Julien

When using extends as far as I know, there is no loss of performance. It could even increase performance

  • ESXi on SD card and virtual machines on a NAS raid-6, performance?

    Hello!

I'm planning an ESXi with HP Proliant DL380 G6 environment, which I already have.

The server has an internal port SD card and according to this article , it is supported to run ESXi from an internal SD card.

    1ST QUARTER

Someone hwo as tried this, what of the downside to this, except the redundancy on the SD card. I had a hard time finding comments on this

    Q2

I intend to run virtual machines on a NAS via iSCSI, (thecus N8800, have another thread on the subject to know if it would work or not here)

With this config I don't need any HD in the DL380.

However, I do not know if a good high-performance NAS is good enough for my VMs and if maybe I need to run the OS on internal disks with higher performance.

First of all, my plan was to run the OS partitions on a raid with internal 10 k SAS drives. And have all the data on the NAS partitions.

But since I'm the new implementation of ESXi on SD or USB I think about the ability to run the DL380 without HD

But, as noted above, is it possible that there is performance enough for that.

Having in mind that my environment is and will be VERY LOW, we speak up seven windows server 2008 and totally 150 users.

But I still haven't any idea if theres a chance that my 7 virtual machines running windows server 2008 will be capped at a lot by running NAS. The Nas will take place with eight 7.2 k RPM Sata disks, they are high of preforming sata drives, but not yet a SCSI raid. I have the ability to run a raid 10 on it instead of 6 and I will consider and try how much better performance, he gives me. 1 TB sata drives are 70% less expensive than the 300 GB 2.5 '' SAS 10 k disks.

Yes, there is a good reason THAT SATA is less expensive than SAS.  SATA drives do not have the same command line than to use SAS drives, more the bottom of basket on SATA relies on the CPU, SAS can unload it on DEMAND.  The discs themselves seem to be competitive, but they are a far cry from the performance of SAS/SCSI, you get good performance until you start to make the e/s simultaneous sessions and hit heavily then you'll start to see performance degrades

If do you some tests and that you are happy with it, still great.  I really hope it works well.  RAID 10 can be a good idea with SATA, which can help to compensate for this loss of performance.

The PIN number is the best way to get the best performance, the physical drives of player throw you into a RAID of any kind the better you will be.

    Seagate Barracuda ES. 2-1 TB - 3.5 "- SATA-300 - 7200 tours min - lunch: 32 MB"

    vs SAS 15 K (that's 2 x the IOPS/sec)

  • want to m7: how the compression works?

Hello everyone, to compress drive C a good thing or a bad thing? I hate doing things that I think are good but go wrong, sometimes things are better left alone. Please let me know your opinion on this. Thank you

    joeypinter

Display your screenshot, not just what I say it is a bad thing (loss of performance for space of trades), it is completely useless!

You have more than 600 GB free out of a 1 TB drive - should NOT be messing around with disk compression.

If it was my PC, I would appreciate Win10 was still halfway decent and he would leave well enough alone.

    OOD luck

  • 2nd Time Capsule

I currently have a TC 3 TB connected to a cable modem. I turned on the signal my cable modem wireless turned off and use the TC as my wireless network. It works perfectly and I am very happy with its performance. I had just bought a new iMac and want to use a second TC (2 TB) to back up my new iMac. The new TC (2 TB) will be in my office about 50' of my TC 3 to in the family room (where the modem is located. My question is can I use the second TC to "extend" my network, and also use it to back up my new iMac. The second TC (2 TB) will not be connected to the first (3 TB) but the iMac can be connected to the second TC with ethernet if it would help. Can I use two cameras on the same network. Thanks for the help. I love Apple Support communities.

My question is can I use the second TC to "extend" my network, and also use it to back up my new iMac.

Yes, but unfortunately there will always be a significant loss of performance on the network when you try to "expand" using a wireless connection between the time Capsules, or any other router from Apple.

On average, you should expect to lose about half the maximum speed possible on the network when you extend this way using a wireless connection between the time Capsules, and it assumed that the second Time Capsule will be located at a point where he can receive a strong signal the first time Capsule wireless.

For example, if you need surplus more wireless signal in the vicinity of the iMac, and then the second time Capsule should be located approximately halfway between the "main" Time Capsule and the iMac.  In other words, if you need better wireless coverage in the vicinity of the iMac, it would be a mistake to locate the second close to the iMac Time Capsule, the Capsule will pick up the same weak signal in this area, and there is little if anything that was acquired by 'extension' of the network with a weak signal.

You can avoid the degradation of network performance and improve reliability as well if it is possible to use a wired Ethernet cable connection connect the two time Capsules.

    Hello

To be honest, I doubt that it will work because the requirements are different.

It would be better if you buy a new battery with the exact specifications. Service provider authorized in your country may make you an offer for it.

  • Apple Application Support (32-bit) deleted, WIN 10, itunes 12.3.3

    Hello

    Maybe someone can help me?
Before you try this already found solution, I ask the questions, again, because of my OS and Itunes is not the same version as described in the solution mentioned down.

After installing WIN10, I cleaned my system and made a big mistake!
I removed Apple Application Support (32 bit) and just kept Apple Application Support (64-bit)
-on a 64 bit system, my way of thinking was wrong--

Now, I have NO error message, but itunes will be stuck to less still when I connect the iphone to the computer 6.

I try to avoid to uninstall itunes completely. (database large, with many playlists and all the songs with Board of the Album etc..)
Before him a. .m error itunes performed excellent.

Is the fixed failure with which describes the solution, without any loss of performance?

    Thanks in advance

    https://discussions.Apple.com/thread/5867877

    iTunes on a 64-bit system has 32 & 64-bit components.

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review other cases and a list of documents to support further down the page, in which case one of them applies.

More information area has direct links with the current and recent if you have problems to download, need to revert to a previous version or try the version iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for the problems of performance or compatibility with third-party software.

Your library must be affected by these measures, but it is also related to backup and recovery advice if necessary.

  • Random blocks

    Hi guys,.

Only 1 week ago, I bought a Compaq Presario CQ62-217AX a local electrical retailer. But the minute I took the laptop out of the box and turned on I had problems with random blocks etc. I checked online for answers with very limited success. So I checked the event viewer and the error message came as:

\Device\RaidPort0, restore the device, has been published.

    Source: amdsata

    Event ID: 129

There are several entrances warning that all coincide with the portable gel. When it locked up I can move the mouse and switch between windows but everything stops responding for about 2/3 minutes.

The overall response, that I had since in line seems to be that change the RAID controller in the BIOS from AHCI to IDE, it should resolve with very little loss of performance. However, I don't see any option in the BIOS to do.

    Everyone has ideas!

I was getting this error on a HP g62-435dx.  I tried a number of updates to pilot, updated for the new bios... no luck.

Finally, I changed the sata driver from the amdsata at the ahci driver generic windows 7 and it seems to have solved the problem.

If you want to try, go to Device Manager-> IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers-> Sata Driver.  Select 'Update Driver'-> 'Browse my computer for driver software "->" Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer', then choose it "Standard AHCI 1.0" pilot. "

Note: I don't have an A / B comparison on the performance of the hard disk between the two drivers, but there is no noticeable change in performance (CrystalDiskMark gives me about 80 MB/s, which, it seems to me, is fine for a disk 5400 RPM).

    In any case, good luck.

  • Tecra A9 - compatibility/AHCI in the BIOS mode

The Toshiba Tecra A9 seems to have a serious lack of implementation of the BIOS: it has an Intel ICH8 - M - SATA controller capable of running in Intels so-called "handset Mode" that allows it to act as a controller SATA AHCI, a normal IDE controller or mix the two for various channels.
The BIOS allows to adjust it to the "compatibility" - mode that seems to work correctly by running in the IDE for all channels mode, but the mode "AHCI" seems to be set up wrongly. AHCI is a standard for SATA devices that is widely used and the Tecra A9 defines only the hard disk to use SATA AHCI - optical drive CD/DVD-ROM rest in IDE mode which leads to conflicts of pilots as only one driver can access the controller in DMA mode - when the value of both SATA and IDE modes, two drivers are needed for one physical chip.
'AHCI' in the BIOS must activate the peripheral subject connected to the controller is running in SATA AHCI mode, but as I already said, it is not. Only the hard drive will be displayed as SATA device.

For me, this looks like a defect in the BIOS that needs to be repaired.

    Best regards
    Peter

    Hello

I think that it s perhaps a default, but you done already encountered problems with the execution of the "compatibility mode" where the CD/DVD drive (IDE ;)) works in "IDE mode"?

Do you have a few mistakes or something similar? If so, then it s probably REALLY a bug, but if not, maybe this 'combined mode' (I know what you´re talking about my old 875P Chipset and my ICH5 have the same thing) works correctly.
In my machine (desktop computer with a DFI Lanparty 875P and northwood at 3 Ghz) runs in the "handset mode" so that everything works to make it compatible in "IDE" mode But I Don t a loss of performance.
It s not as fast when I drive in pure SATA mode, but then my DVD won't work.

So, if you have problems with the machine then I agree, otherwise "it s not a bug, it s a feature" ;)

    Welcome them
