Lost access to docs after the PC recovery

I hope you can help. I got my PC successfully several times using the recovery hard disk partition. Previously, I took the effort to back up all the files, but on this occasion I chose to use the recovery option standard, which is supposed to make the recovery, but save all data. So stupidly, I didn't back up all my files. However, when I now look for my files, they are not visible under My Documents. When I look in the c:doucuments - and - settings I find there are three directors and a directory of all users. All except one of my pictures, and my music show (all empty apart from the standard HP stuff) and the rest, HP_Administrator, does not allow me access. I suspect that is where my files are, but how can I now access them? Looking at the use of the my C drive; drive still seems to contain all my data. With the help of the search function cannot find the files however.

Hi Nuccii. Thanks again for your reply but your version of XP must be different from mine that I do not see the Security tab that you reference. I checked the link you are referring to, which seems to address the problem, but I have already decided that the best thing is to stick with just a backup folder months I've had, which contained most of my essential files and manually update the extent possible from there.

It seems that many people have encountered the same problem, I think it's impressive on such a fundamental procedure. I can't believe it, otherwise than by personal experience, HP/Microsoft could get it wrong.

How can I access my emails after the death of my PC. I had a pc using Windows Vista and I served my Windows Mail e-mail program.  The computer has stopped working so I removed the hard drive, put it in a case and now use it as an external drive.  My new computer, I took possession of the Documents and Settings folder, and I'm looking for emails.  I followed the path, Documents and Settings / / AppData / Local / Microsoft / Windows Mail but there are 2 folders, backup & stationery as well as a few small files.  Where I could hide my email? Please, I beg you.

There should be a directory called local folders under the message store and eml files organized into folders named after the directories under this directory are.  They may be hidden files, so make sure that you have enabled the display of hidden files and folders under control panel | Folder options | View.  You can also try to search *.eml, because messages are stored as eml files.  See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for background.

As I see that you posted this in the title of the product recovery Toshiba category that your action has nothing to do with the installation of Toshiba Recovery and, for me, it's unwanted Microsoft.

To be honest, I did not understand what exactly happens, but somehow, I feel everything is messed up.
My advice: if possible to backup all your important data and do the clean install of image recovery.
After that what you do will have factory settings and clean OS preinstalled, so you will be able to use your laptop with no problems.

  • VERY URGENT. Data in accessible after the system recovery which says - data will not be deleted.

I did a system restore by pressing F11 on my laptop HP XP Home pre-loaded. The step has asked told me that by doing a restore via this procedure, my data will not be changed or lost. I did not a destructive restore.

Now after recovering my laptop works very well, however I got two sets of data - much of the imp in My Documents data and personal data to another folder. When I went back to work on the laptop, I was able to access the data that I had the pvt. folder, however, any data that is very Important to me and who was there in My Documents has been moved to a new folder named HP and I can't access it. The capacity of the disk hard has not changed, which means that the amount of hard disk space that has been used before is the same, so it means, no data has been removed. I analyzed the defragmenting drive C drive and can see the report, which said, all data is located in the HP folder, but when I try to enter the folder, it says access is denied.

During recovery, I haven't used any password, which could help to access this folder, I am still unable to view this file, I tried to use an administrator in safe mode too, still the same message.

I called HP customer, but after talking with them for an hour, I couldn't find a solution. I called microsoft and they say that they support no more than XP? PLEASE HELP ME. I do not understand when I follow on screen instructions from microsoft themselves, why am I facing this problem? Is it a fault of customers to purchase an original product from microsoft, and then when he has a problem microsoft responds that they cannot help them?

Since I followed all the instructions from microsoft, I'm in trouble, if at any time it would give me a warning that your data won't be accessible or will change, I would have not been made.

PLEASE HELP ME, I NEED AN URGENT DATA. I HAVE A FEW PRESENTATIONS MAJOR IN THE COMING WEEK, AND I DON'T GET.

Most probably, you have just to take ownership of these files.  The recovery process has probably created a new user, who does not recognize the system as having access to this folder.  To do this follow these steps:

    Hello

Recovery mode and security system are two different things and in safe mode lets you access Windows Diagnostics mode and that you will lose all the data in this mode. System and Windows.old files have not been deleted during recovery of the system was carried out. Try to throw the disc to clean the disk and see if you can find and remove unwanted files that could be to fill out the hard disk.

    1. open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button picture of the Start button, tap all programs, accessories, click System Tools, and then click Disk Cleanup.

    2. in the Disk Cleanup Options dialog box, choose whether you want to clean your own files only or all files on the computer. Need administrator permission if you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. If the disk cleanup: drive selection dialog box appears, select the hard disk you want to clean and then click OK.

    4. click the Disk Cleanup tab and select the check boxes for files that you want to remove.

    5. When you have finished select the files you want to delete, click OK, and then click on delete files to confirm the operation. Disk Cleanup on delete all unnecessary files from your computer.

    Delete files using disk cleanup
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

Also check hard disk in disk management and see if you can see any differenc in the capacity of the hard drive partition which is in question right now.

    1. click on start.

2 type diskmgmt.msc in the instant search box.

Original title: Recovery Windows Virus eliminated but now no internet... what the

I got the Windows Recovery virus and my son has deleted successfully and that he found all the files and I have the office back.  I can connect to the internet if I use another laptop but I can't connect using the infected computer.  I have contacted my provider, but they can help as I have connection so there is no problem.  I'm currently on a laptop, attached to my modem, so I know it's working.  When I use my computer and try to connect it comes up saying "Internet explorer cannot display the webpage".  There is an option to diagnose connection problems, but it does not work for me because I have a connection.  Y at - it is something I need to fix on my original computer to allow the signal through it to say: a registry or something.

If you see stuff like this (after got rid of the malware):

Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage

    The most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
    The Web site encounters problems.
There could be a typing error in the address.

We will check your network connection properties.

Some malware will alter these settings and your anti malware software can't tell if you have changed the malware changed them or so, after removal of infections, it will leave just the settings as he finds them (it is usually a good thing), but can leave your disabled Internet access.

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Inetcpl.cpl

Click OK to launch the Internet Properties Control Panel, choose connections, LAN settings.

Or, in Internet Explorer click on tools, Options, connections, LAN settings.

These settings control your Internet access for all browsers.

(If you make settings, write them down so you can undo changes if you must)

On most environments, not independent, there will be check automatically detect settings and
the other boxes are (as Proxy Server) is disabled.

Automatically detect the setting checked =
Use the automatic configuration script = unchecked
Use a proxy server for your LAN = not checked

Make changes, then click OK, OK to save the settings.

Check your settings for how your network adapter gets its IP and DNS settings.  Most home page
systems, these parameters must be defined for the system will get the settings automatically.

If you have another system on your network that works, you can compare these settings with the
parameters of the system that is not a work and make adjustments.

Click Start, settings, Control Panel, network connections, and then select your current network connection.

On the general tab, click Properties.

In the drop down in the Middle, find and highlight the selection of Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.

In the Internet Protocol Properties window, the usual selections are to get the IP and DNS settings
automatically.  Select the following two options:

    Obtain an IP address automatically
Get a DNS server address automatically

The rest of the options on the screen should then be grayed out/not available.

Make changes, then click OK, OK to save the settings.

Restart your computer and test your connection.

If that is fixed, follow these steps:

Click Start, settings, Control Panel, network connections, and then select your current network connection.

On the general tab, click Properties. In the drop down in the Middle, find and highlight the selection of Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties. Advanced. There should be a tab DNS. Please make sure that the following options are selected:

Dash in add primary and connection specific dns suffixes and an add parents of the primary dns suffix suffixes and also a check tick to save these connections addresses in DNS.

On the check tab VICTORIES which allow you to search LMHOSTS is checked and use the default setting for netbios. Now OK out of all these windows. If you have changed a

  • [SOLVED] I lost my passwords recorded after the change of equipment

I had to change my card motherboard and CPU, the other day and immediately after this incident, I seem to have lost all my passwords. The reason I'm sure this is because the only saved password comes from a site I only used after this incident. The only thing I had done recently, except for hardware change has updated firefox to 35.02.

Even after restoring my signons3.txt to a version 4 months, not a single difference was made. Password Manager still has only a unique user name and password, rather than the many I had before. Other than the change of equipment, the boot partition and the players are the same, and nothing has been uninstalled. In addition, I don't know if it's related, but my logins.json file is 1 KB, while the logins.json.corrupt is 109KB. The passwords were saved in there? That I should give a try?

EDIT: Solved with a post by Chris http://codeverge.com/mozilla.support.firefox/saved-passwords-disappeared-on-update/2006894

"You can force Firefox to re - import your old passwords." Here's how:
    1. in the address bar, type "subject: config ' (without the quotes) and
    Press < enter >.
    2. click on [I'll be careful, I promise!]
    3. search for the preference: signon.importedFromSqlite
    4. right click on signon.importedFromSqlite and select "Reset".
    5. go to help-> Troubleshooting_Information, then click on [open

    6. close Firefox
    7. in your profile folder, delete the file "logins.json". »

  • Portable operation extremely slow even after the system recovery

I have a series of g laptop and on last week, it started running VERY slowly after the start. It came from nowhere, because it allows to work just fine the day before. So yesterday, I restored the factory setting and saved without previous files or documents. He worked as new for a few hours and then it suddenly becomes very slow. It's so slow that it freezes or it loads forever when I just click or click on the Start button. Pretty much everything I had there, it was iTunes malawarebytes, utorrent, steam and some other stuff that is were all on my computer before the problems began. Help will be greatly appreciated!

    Best regards, Nicolas

    Hi Nicolas,.

Regarding the size of the hard drive, there may be problems with the recovery process if you are installing a drive of smaller capacity than one that was originally supplied with your laptop - the same size or slightly more is Ok.

Unfortunately, I do not see the image of your link, but I think I know what you are referring.

I guess than the previous you reinstalled the operating system is using the D Partition of hard disk recovery.  However, with a new disc, it will not be possible that the disc is not completely empty.  You will need to use a set of recovery DVDs to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - however, this procedure going to re-create the recovery on the new drive Partition automatically.

All you have to do, once the new drive has been installed is to operate on the esc key when you launch Notepad to open the Start Menu.  Insert the recovery DVD.  Select boot options (usually f9), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER.  You can also get a prompt to "Press any key to" continuous - it if requested.  This will start the Recovery Manager and the whole procedure will be very similar to the previous method, you used - you will be prompted by the software when you need to change DVD to continue the process.

    Kind regards

  • Qosmio G30 - problem after the system recovery procedure

I Qosmio G30 - 148 who have Windows XP MCE, trying to download some system programs crashed and make automatic restart.

I then used a RECOVERY CD to recover my system all and followed the instructions on the CD but when finished and restart the system, a famous blue screen telling me there is a problem in my system and windows must be restarted.

When restarting in safe mode, it is a message telling me that the system is not fully installed. Please, rerun the Setup program.

You could any body help me in this problem because it's a strange problem?

Note: I tried to install Windows XP from external CD but the system did not have the hard drive.

You are right. It's a really strange problem. I don't know if you use some external devices but before you start recovery procedure please remove all connected devices.
The fact is that this recovery image is designed for this model of laptop and the specific hardware configuration. If the BSOD occurs after the installation of the image it takes little hardware related issue.

I don't really have any other explanation. Problem is that no one here will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis, and we can only speculate what may be the problem.

Try to do it again to the recovery facility, but if the problem persists I fear that you need professional help.

It seems that there are file system corruption, after the failure of your hardware. Try some recovery software data (links below) or, if data is critical and expense is not a problem, don't take any chances and send the drive to a professional drive savers data recovery company.
