  • Lost my desktop icons!

I have a laptop Equium A60 and lost all the icons on my desktop. I can find them by going via start, programs. Any ideas on how to recover my office?

    Hello

Your question seems very strange and I can t believe that the icons are hidden with no intervention.
I think that you have accidentally disabled the option show desktop icons.
In any case, please right-click on the desktop and choose Arrange icons by
(I think that it s an option of fist on the top of this menu) Then you should see the option called show desktop icons. Please turn it on.

After this procedure, all the icons should reappear.

    Hi Geoff,

    2. You get the error message?

    Method 1

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. First try the easiest method:
Right-click on the free space of the desktop > click View > click on the Show Desktop icons.

If that's not the answer, try the following suggestions...

1 do a system restore. Choice of date where all your desktop icons were present and functional as your restore point.

Start button > Search box, type System Restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish
To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.

    2. rebuild your cache of icons:

  • PSE12 - I lost my desktop icon when I tried to move to the gutter. Now I can't find how to start the program.

The useful suggestion only so far is to uninstall PSE12 and reload it. However, I bought this package as a downloadable copy and I don't have an original disc. Because I have now recorded copy, will be - this PSE refuse to allow a second attempt to sign? See you soon

    Hi Ned

A.... With the help of your response and assistance from Adobe, my query has been resolved. Help Adobe's response is that, with the PSE, reset the validation is done automatically when the program is uninstalled. I just deleted the previously created desktop icons. Please see excerpt of conversation Chat Adobe below.

    1. Adobe: uninstall and turn off are the same in PSE
    2. Dave_t_9: Wow! I didn't know that! So if I have problems loading, I can try to load several times on the same machine, providing I have uninstall between each attempt?
    3. Adobe: That is absolutely correct.

    B.

    1. I'm sorry that my download was backwards. Also to add the attachment, I tried to use the print to the screen but it was rejected saying that the format was not supported.

If system restore is turned on and you can go back enough, restore the computer to an earlier date using Safe Mode.

Restart the computer and start typing the key F8, select Safe mode with command option. If you are prompted to select an operating system, use the arrow keys to select the right pair and press ENTER. Log in as administrator or with an account that has administrator credentials. At the command prompt, type % systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER. Follow the prompts to restore your computer to an earlier date.

    Hello

try a restore of the system before this happened

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

If necessary do in safe mode

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.
  • All desktop icons overlaid with small 'none' icon

All my desktop icons are covered, what I call the icon "no icon". (small box with three small dots of color in a larger white box, top right corner folded down).  This 'no icon' icon is on 1/3-1/4 the size of the original icon, so it does not use, but this icon that just overlap correct is looking a mess.

If I open the properties, only the icon "no icon" is in the properties box.    If I point Windows Explorer program.  We show the correct icon (no recovery).  If I drag this program on the desktop, create a shortcut, drag the correct icon - until - I release it, then the icon "no icon" is that just overlap the correct icon than others on my desktop.

I was told to delete the IconCache.db in C:\Users\\AppData\Local.   as it is rebuilt when you start...  This suggestion appears in several places - that, in my case, that does not work.   Reboot and the superimposed icons are all there yet.

I've seen other complaints of other small icons coming to overlap, but so far, none of the people with suggestions work for my problem.

I had the same thing happen to me... and after about 3 hours of internet research.

the solution that worked for me...

Use the command regedit as an administrator

    GoTo this save location.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Icons

There should be only (default) REG_SZ (value not set)

unless you use another software that should be the only thing here... other things could be Malware but investigate to make sure.

    I hope this helps...
