Lost blackBerry smartphones phone and want to clear memory by SMS

Hi all

I used to have a phone to PC of Tao (hated) and it doesn't have a feature I found useful. It has a feature which allows the user to send a text message with specific string/code that would clear the entire memory of the phone. Personally information that I have on my phone is much more valuable than the phone itself. Is it possible to do this with the 8300?

This function is already buillt in to each blackberry

as long as you actually a setup password lock

by default, 10 incorrect password attempts to wipe the device

and if you declare that he has stolen the thief will never get the unit actiavted and it becomes a paperweight

    Hi Chantelle,

Sorry to hear of your lost phone.

Had you set up BB Protect on your device? If so, you can erase remotely, as long as it is running.

Otherwise, you should contact your carrier and follow the instructions to report a lost or stolen phone. They will ensure it is disconnected from your services and separate the PIN and the SIM.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

What you need to do is to find, on your PC, the IPD file created when you backed up. Search your entire hard drive *. IPD. Then use this file as the source of a restoration of your new BB (choose ONE of these KB, depending on the version of the RIM Desktop software you have already installed on your PC):

    • KB23680 How to back up and restore data from BlackBerry using BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0 smartphone
    • KB10339 How to use BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.3 to 5.0.1 to restore data from a BlackBerry smartphone from a backup file

You should contact your carrier, they do not follow the registration, but you will need to convience for the IMEI or PIN number. With regard to your location, if the person has erased your device or use a different SIM card then this is not possible. If you had a device password setting then nobody can access your data, if anyone tries then your device will wipe itself. But if you don't have a device password value before disaster then yes it might be able to access your information in this device.

  • Phone smart blackBerry Smartphones first and I am confused - loads of questions

So, I am trying to get a handle on this new Blackberry.  I'm upgrading to a Motorola RAZR v3 and the learning curve is steeper than I expected.

I bought unlocked on amazon.com and slipped my service from T-Mobile Prepaid SIM inside (no data plan).  I managed to get my contacts in there (not perfectly, but they are there).  I figured out how phone and text (yay).

After a few questions, I finally convinced my router it was OK for the Blackberry to connect. I understood that I must use the Hotspot browser for surfing the net via my wifi connection and successfully, went to gmail and my personal site.

First question: how zoom a page?

Second, I think I can surf very well, but when I check the status, Wifi is not checked, it has a dashboard.  I'm sure he had a tick when I first put in place last night.  What is the dashboard and how to fix this?

Where is my real problem is set up email - when I go to the configuration of email, I only get the choice of "corporate email.  It is not useful

I need to know better what are the limits of the Unit regarding internet access - I thought I could use it as my Ipod Touch, which of course has * only * wifi.  I've set up email on this subject, no problem.  I have read in various places that it does not require a data plan for electronic mail, in other places, it takes a data plan to "use the wifi.  Well, what for, since I can surf the net fine?

Could also use some advice on how to get additional applications, and if they will work through the connection of the phone, wifi, both or none.

Oh!  And one of the reasons I bought this particular phone are that it supports UMA - this is supposed to go to the WiFi during a call, if the cell is too low.  My cell in my house link of sucks (even with an extension of the cell).  It is, on a device with no data plan, but a strong WiFi, that function will work?

Sorry for so many questions, hope that y ' All can help me!

Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

All (or almost) your questions can be answered in one sentence.

You need the BlackBerry data Plan on your account. It will not work on a prepaid account. As simple as that.

With THE BlackBerry data Plan email browser set, full employment, UMA WiFi calling AND it's cute little check mark by the installation of WiFi.

Wait - what about applications?  Apps will not work with Wifi either? Why not?  Make my Ipod Touch apps...

I spend $100 per YEAR for access to the phone.  TMobile wants me to pay $40 a month for a blackberry data plan.  Phooey.

    Hello

I think you can try two things: the soft reboot, and if it does not, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can not lose data with these two reboots.

    Soft reboot:
    1) struck the following three keys at the same time:
    -Alt
    -Right shift
    -Remove
    (2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.

    Hard reboot:
    (1) your BlackBerry smart phone is on
    (2) remove the battery and wait a minute
    (3) replace the battery
    (4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.

Please tell us if it works for you.

  • BlackBerry smartphone erased and lost BIS Terminal and Internet browser

    Hello world

I wiped my "BOLD" to clean up a bit, and I have restored only databases such as the address book, tasks, options, etc.
I seem to have lost the ability to email from installation through BIS. The e-mail configuration option has disappeared from the installation folder and the installation wizard mentions only BES.
I also seem to have lost the Internet browser and don't have Planet 3 (to 3) and the Hotspot browser.

Is there something else I need to do or restore to get that back?

    Thank you

    Paul

    Hello Paul.

Try going to your button with menu options - advanced options - icon, press - host routing table - menu key - register now. See what it does. Then try to remove your battery - then replace it - all thewing of your phone to reboot.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Ringtones and the Notification Options for SMS text phone

I can't locate the profile of notification area (by following the instructions in the guide) on my "BOLD" to change the ringtone for phone and notification options for calls and texts in and out of the Holster.  I go to application Options, but there is no section for phone or SMS texts and not even in the Advanced Options section.  I remember correctly, I was able to make these changes in the application of profiles under subsection advanced... but not on the "BOLD". In addition, I somehow deleted my phone icon application when I hide and rearrange my icons.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the menu, profiles, scroll to the tip, press on in normal conditions (or which one is active), and you have the chance to change ringtones for phone, sms text, email and more.

For the phone icon, switch between topics (menu, options, themes and switch to another and do the same to the ones you use) and check if you have the item on the screen, (you don't need the phone icon, press the green button and is exactly the same function)

  • BlackBerry Smartphones transmit and receive went faulty but phone calls will be text. Clicking on the loudspeaker sound

A sudden power outage hit my Curve 8900

When answering an incoming call or outgoing call is made the exit turns into a clicking noise that is regular and breaks the sound out and the transmission of the caller's voice in.

They cannot hear me and hear clicks and my broken voice

I do not have them and all I hear is the click and their voice broken up.

The strange thing is the phone sends and receives SMS text perfectly.

I checked this point with my service proivder o2 and they recommended an update of firmware

So I did and updated all the software and the fault remains.

I have a lot of mp3 music on the phone and everything is working as is the camera and video.

Pulling the battery is not a cure.  Remove the SIM card has no cure.

    Free space is 134 MB

Media card has 2.7 GB of free

I have only 9 applications on the phone. Ordinary things like voice transmitter calculator

There is one strange notification slightly to the right of where a text message is waiting for my reading, but there are no messages in folders.  Saved messages are empty, but I can't read the message and the icon will not go away.

O2 said that I might have to send it back for repair if the stuff I try do not heal.

I have not dropped the phone or had of infiltration water etc.  He just started to do this when the fault I

accidentally pressed a button which started an activation of voice command and he left while I don't use voice dialing of activation.   There is no mms on hold or waiting for reading or sending sms.

A total mystery.  Anyone got any ideas as to what might be causing this interruption of strange regular beats of the transmission of two ways?

    --

    Plado

This is usually caused by a defective headphone plug or dirty. Inserting and removing the card several times can repair but also could reproduce. He can't. If it happens again try plugging it disconnected again and again. If that doesn't fix it, you need to repair/replace.

What contacts? Your address book... IF you have BlackBerry Protect installed and running on your old device, Protect restore data including your address book and other data. See more here:

BBM contacts are not saved with Protect. However, using the same BBID, they will be restored if your previous 9790 had BBM 7 installed. Your BBID restore BBM contacts.

  • Setup of blackBerry Smartphone email and BBM number on 9780

    Hi all

Recently, I noticed that my bbm "n" shortcut did not, all the other shortcuts like memo, calculator, etc. have been working well. I cross checked the "n" key on the message, e-mail etc., which works very well. It was obvious that the key is fine, probably thinking of the device is in need of an upgrade of the OS, I upgraded to 6.0.0.706 to the download site for the India BB software. Since then he has screwed my application of messaging and bbm on the device configuration. The problem started after I configured my device after the upgrade of the OS, without doing something fancy. Now, I am unable to work my e-mail installation or bbm.

The trickiest part, the E-mail setup application:

When I work through installation and choose the email Setup icon, ideally it should give me two options. 1. business account and 2.  Internet e-mail account.

After the upgrade the email set up gives me settings to choose from business accounts, where the option of Internet e-mail account? After a thorough and exhausting, research in the community, I heard people talking about relocation of the configuration of the e-mail application. Done that but still no go. So now, I can't add my e-mail address, ' coz there is no option or how to configure it.

    For bbm:

I have a return to the top of my contacts, which I've tried to run over and over again, but it brings back me to the original configuration and asks me to enter the display name. Now restore backup should restore my profile/contacts, but it doesn't. On a positive note, my shortcut for bbm works!

I would also like to bring to your notice that I have a bis plan on my device, active, but after upgrading my app world or native applications do not work on bis but wifi. Strange! Now the question is why would the upgrade of a simple bone cause me so many problems. I upgraded my phone several times since I bought it. This is driving me crazy and crazy, this phone has an excellent reputation and does not mean I am a bit disappointed by his performance or his now making me hurt.

Please help, I don't want to empty this phone!

    Hello abhijit17

Well... How updated the OS using desktop software or OTA, OS update should not ask this question.

Meanwhile the first tip is to register your device with your corporate network, for more help see this KB:

KB00510 : How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    • You expect a registration messages in your Inbox messages.

After receiving the Registration message restart your device, then check again.

Try it and post back with the results.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones phone won't boot to the top

I downloaded a few applications to Blackberry World on my night of phone. One was booster. When I tried to open it I got an error message saying something about Java, and after failed attempts to open it, I deleted it. The other was AP Reader. I just tried to open it for the first time this morning. When I clicked on it, the phone started to reboot. He took an unusually long time to restart, then I put down and came back some time later. When I picked up, he seemed to be in the off position. I tried to turn it back on but nothing happened. So I took the battery out and put back. The fire came, stayed on a minute or two, but instead of booting, the phone is off again. I tried to remove the SIM card as well as the battery and then replace both, but he got the same results. I can't even reset the phone to default settings because I can't seem to start. Help! What can I do?

Sometimes you gotta try some variations... If you have tried only twice, you did not probably not enough variations. I remember a device where I had to wait for the touchscreen to become active, hold down the ESCAPE key for about 50% of the loading bar, release, then press and hold again close to 80% to 90%. A strange sequence, but it worked for me.

If you don't want to keep trying, your only recourse will be more drastic... I hope you have a good backup, as it is unlikely that you will be able to get one now.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

Good luck and let us know!
