• dv9500 screen help! Need help!

  When I turn on my laptop dv9500, I get black screen. However, when I move the screen upwards and downwards several times or hitting the bottom of screen Panel with my finger a few times, it happens.

  I tested the battery, it seemed to be ok.  However, when I tested with my external monitor, nothing cam upward at all despite what I have on my laptop screen. Suggestions for my problem would be appreciated! My warranty expired 5 months ago. My guess is the video card, but I'm not sure.

  I found the problem. The problems was the inverter. He lost cable... I have re-connected and it works fine now. But, thank you!

• Pavilion 17F1023CL: lost my ethernet cable connection.

  Have 2 pavilions and lost the ethernet connection, with cable, on one of them, yet have the wifi capability. When you attach the ethernet cable, the port light does not illuminate.

  Currently using my second Pavilion, with the cable is connected, and the light on the port is light.

  The problem would be with the connection/WiFi wireless card? This card Realtek manages cables and wireless?

  Prefer to do my own repairs when possible, as labor costs are far too high for my budget.

  Please use the forums.

  Sounds to me like the port has been disconnected somehow, as it should be a combo wireless connection/WiFi card as you requested.  You can check to make sure that the port is still connected properly, however it is likely that it will need to be replaced.

• Updated IE7 to IE8 and lost my network connection, get the error "network cable is unplugged" which is not

  After upgrade, network display icon with a red X through it indicating "network cable is unplugged" - which is not.  System Restore gave me back IE7, but without two of the toolbars (I've since found the fix for this - but too late).  Tried a system restore and now completely lost internet connection - IE will not launch.  Always get the message "network cable is unplugged".   I have reset the modem, but nothing works... should I ask Microsoft, HP, or my service provider (Rogers)?

  Check the modem on the back of the system where the cable ether net branch. Think you that shed light on this subject? If this is not the case then you may have a problem with the NIC or ether net cable may have problems. If you do this then try uninstalling and reinstaling the NIC in Device Manager. If you don't see the network adapter in Device Manager then try booing the system BIOS and make sure that he is seen here. Let me know what you find. Thank you.

  I work tech support for an ISP broadband.  Get a certain calls lately from connectivity lost on cable connections (coax to modem, ethernet to the computer).  It seems that some of my old Dos standard TCP\IP troubleshooting commands are outdated.  Could someone please review and criticize the following sequence for accuracy?

  1. START | RESEARCH | ORDER -RUN as ADMINISTRATOR
  2. IPCONFIG/FLUSHDNS
  3. NBTSTAT-R
  4. NBTSTAT - RR
  5. NETSH INT REINITIALIS

  Win 7.

  Type Cmd in the search text box.

  Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run a command as administrator prompt.  Allow the elevation.

  Type netsh winsock reset at the command prompt and press the Enter key.

  Do the same process to refresh the TCP/IP just replace the command typed with.

  netsh interface ipv4 reset Press enter

  netsh interface ipv6 reset Press enter

  ipconfig/flushdns press Enter

  Restart your computer.

  Win XP & Vista

  Type Cmd in the search text box.

  I need to get a new USB cable as soon as POSSIBLE and I was wondering what the correct type of USB to get, because there are darn many of them?

  The original poster questioned another cable - using a single to connect the camera to the PC (for the transfer of the image) and the battery in the camera. This cable is a USB key, from what I can tell, a connector SONY owner (ugh!). You can find these cables on Amazon or eBay, if you do a search for "HX9V USB cable. They should cost less than $ 10.

  The second poster is pointing out another cable, is used to display images on a TV.

  I currently use a HDMI cable to the video stream from my MacBook to my TV. It works fine except that it doesn't seem to be a way to close the laptop and always maintain the connection with the TV. First of all, I do not leave my laptop open, exposed if you want, when you're arms reach. Then, when it is connected to the TV, it is at least 2 to 3 yards away.   Hello Juergen,

  Unfortunately you cannot substitute an RS-232 cable instead of the standard MXI-4 cable.  While both use a DB-9 connector, the pinout of each cable is different.  Even if you were to manually change a standard serial cable, that you could have interference problems of noise due to the higher frequency MXI-4 compared to the RS-232 signaling.

  I suffer for my printer (HP OfficeJet 7680) constantly be lost. (no software can find to print to it. I can restart and it will show for a while, then he gets lost.   Click on the 'Start' button--> printers and fax machines.
  Under print jobs, click on "add a printer".
  Click 'Next' in the Add Printer Wizard window.
  Select "local printer attached to this computer.  Deselect "automatically detect and install my Plug and play printer."  Click "next".
  Under Select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and choose "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next".
  In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port Wizard" make sure that the printer is enabled and configured. Click on the button "next".
  Under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the IP address of the printer (normally I would put the printer is there, but you use a static IP address for the printer).  Click 'Next' and then click 'Finish '.
  Now, select HP in the manufacturers list, select your printer in the list of the models of printers and click the button "next".
  Keep the existing driver and click "next".
  Add the name of print spooler, and then click "next".
  Click "next".
  Click "Next" and "Finish."

  Print a test page.  I would like to know if it works.

  If your keyboard does not work, can you try to use a USB keyboard?

  Your touchpad does not work? Your touchpad on the Dell is the mouse, and usually, it lies below the space bar.

  When did you start this problem?

  The problem, I think, is with the keyboard. If it does not meet what buttons you press on, then this is the device, not the operating system.

  I have a Yamaha Motif Rack ES of Nektar Panorama P6 and iLok connected via a hub ("HooToo") USB3 generic port USB3 on my MBP.  The Mac USB2 port is connected to the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, and another keyboard (old Korg N1) is connected to the midi in port of the Focusrite.

  I have several patches where I play the Motif Rack ES with the nectar, with Aftertouch keyboard mapped to the Modulation of the motive... setting to bring in the vibrato with aftertouch. Many times it seems that aftertouch messages get lost... Modulation will come as planned when I press harder the nectar, but often doesn't come back down again... Vibrato stays on until I have pressure and then release again. My vibe all the loot.

  Did someone else had a problem like that and maybe found a solution or workaround? I suspect that the USB hub can be a bottleneck, but I don't see any way around that.  Maybe it's the ground itself? I didn't notice messages are lost during playback of the soft synths, but I'm not sure about this.

  Try to connect the Motif Rack ES MIDI to the Focusrite.  If it solves the problem, using a USB cable on the ground by midday. It seems that I remember reading about the problems of USB communication with that of patterns and MO6s time on the Yamaha forum. USB hub is powered? Try another USB cable and a powered hub.

  My laptop (i5, running Win 7) is my workhorse computer that had all my favorite settings stored. I added a new office (AMD, Win 8.1) that will be used as a multimedia entertainment unit, but when I connected the cable to install FireFox it replaced all the settings in my laptop with the new computer. How can I keep the different settings on each computer? Must have 2 different accounts to be able to do this? I have now lost the web address for some of my sites, so it's quite painful. The "recently marked with a bookmark" folder is the main problem, because it is where I was monitoring my sites.
