    Hello

Sounds like the shortcut has been damaged (do you use a registry cleaner on this system?). Try this: right-click the taskbar, click Properties. On the start menu tab, click Customize. For music and images, check the radial box to not display this element. Apply/ok your way out, then restart the system normally. Now, reverse the steps to add them in the menu and see if there is no change.

  • How to search for "Mail (32-bit)" (Control Panel) on the Start Menu?

I would like to be able to hit the Start button and type Mail and then be able to open the Control Panel item «Mail (32-bit)»

Now when I click on start and type Mail I only search for items in the downloads section, but Panel does not appear. When I open the control panel and tap "Mail", I see the article of mail (32 bit).
    Thank you!

As an alternative, go to Control Panel , and then change the view by [in the top right] the categories large icons or small iconsview.

In doing so, the entry of mail will always appear when you open the Control Panel in the future.

You can, if you wish, just right-click on the mail entry & select Create shortcut.  This is put on your desktop, but you can then move it somewhere else more convenient for you.

If you need additional assistance with the clean install, please start a new thread in this forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistarepair/threads

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, good reputation and stand-alone computer (that is, not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) repair facility.

  • How to remove 'music' and 'pictures' of the right pane of the start menu?

How can I remove the 'music' and 'pictures' option in the Panel of the start menu right?  When I right click on them, there is no option to remove or delete (as some forums suggest).  When I go to customize the start menu, everything (Panel, Favorites, videos, etc) except these two are listed.  Can anyone help?

Well well well, you will look like this?  When you mentioned "libraries", I remembered that a few weeks ago I was cleaning the menus and screens under WMP and apparently I went in organizing-> customize the navigation pane and unchecked near pretty everything in there.  I just went and restored these options by default and viola ~ music and images options are coming back as if by magic.  Do not understand the logic behind this, but the problem is now resolved.  Thank you.

  • On the start menu control panel does not work

When I click on the start menu control Panel icon, it says and I quote": {26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}"the RPC server is unavailable." All other icons are thus working computer, network, printers, etc all its only the control panel is not working. Two questions how to fix this and what is the RPC server?

    Hi I.Saenz,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

    3. do you have security software installed on the computer?

Remote procedure call (RPC) is a part of Windows programs, which is "an interprocess communication technique that allows the software client and server to communicate." CPP is designed to provide a common interface between applications, making it easy for programs to communicate with the servers.

Check if the problem persists in safe mode.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Restart the computer to return to normal mode

If the problem persists in safe mode then I suggest that scan you SFC on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

    • In the control panel in Classic view, there is the taskbar and the START MENU ICON, but when I click on it I do not get the Advisor news, I get nothing if clicked.

    Suggestions:

    1. press Ctrl + Alt and WAITING, press DELETE key > select Task Manager > file > new task (run...) > in the Open box, type explore> OK

    Is back on the taskbar?
If so, make sure that lock you the taskbar, right-click on the taskbar > check 'lock the Tasbar.

    2. If the above does not help, go to safe mode and see if you can see the taskbar at the bottom.
Here's how to get safe mode:

Shut down your computer > turn it back on and immediately and repeatedly tab key F8 until you see a black and white screen. The top/down arrow and select Safe Mode.

If you can see the taskbar in safe mode, please do a system restore. Choose a date where you did not have this problem as your restore point.

lost all my programs from the start menu, favorites as all my photos and docs. Can I get them back thanks for any help,

What did you do last before this happened?

It looks like someone may have maliciously tampered with your computer.

Take a look in your trash and see what you can find.

If they are not there, try to download and run this program:

He'll pick up things that have been deleted from the Recycle Bin.

  • I lost my games folder in the all programs folder in the start menu, how can I replace it (Win 7 Pro)

If I remember correctly, I was playing solitaire spider on this computer about 1 year ago, but now I can't find the Games folder in the start menu. In the past, the record of the games was still installed automactically when I installed the operating system. Can it be restored or installed from a stand alone facility?

    Thank you

    Frank

When you go to start, type spider and see if it lists the game.  Otherwise, type appwiz.cpl and press ENTER.  Then click Add windows components, and then check out the games.  Sometimes, on Windows 7 Pro, they are disabled.
