  If all your folders and files are missing, this indicates that you have selected the custom option that completely replaces the previous version of windows.

  All of your personal files must be stored in a folder called Windows.old, if you did a custom (clean) installation without formatting the hard drive. You can retrieve all personal files in this folder.

  I suspect that the developer of this extension has messed up something in the control panel of the developer for the AMO site for its extension. This page - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fast-dial-5721/ - shows Version 3.4 released 11 February 2011 130.0 KB works with Firefox 3.0 - 4.0. * that the "current" version, where the 'versions' page shows that 3 new version has been published since February. Updates to what extension can get found when Firefox is being updated because of this error.

  This is the only extension to AMO I came across this problem, so I doubt if it is a mistake to Mozilla. You can e-mail the author about this problem as it may fix.

• Windows 7 Aero theme lost during the upgrade to IE11

  I lost the Aero theme when I upgraded from IE9 to IE11 and the update installed some Windows updates.  I've seen other reports, but nothing has worked.  I tried to uninstall KB2670838, but Aero is not returned.

  I need help to restore Aero.    The Aero Troubleshooter have not set, no problem, so who needs some attention.

  Update: I uninstalled the update of IE, no Aero.  I uninstalled the updates of windows, one at a time. still no Aero?  And the resolution of problems Aero said that everything goes well for Aero?

  I got it fixed!

  Service of themes has been disabled!  Now why in the world an update would disable themes, and, if this is a necessary service for Aero, Aero store not that find and correct?

  Come on Microsoft, you have the resources, it's a lousy job!

  So Ashish, please add to your canned response, to check all the services necessary to support Aero.  I have checked a few previous attempts, but did not know that the themes was a necessary service.

  Hope this helps others with the same question, surely you won't get any help from Redmond.

• The upgrade of the PIX firewall

  I currently have two firewalls Pix 515 (v4.4 and v6.2). I want to update the v4.4, but am unable to download the software from Cisco. Whenever I try to download using the link 'download pix software', it times out.

  Looks like you may have a problem with the download or the browser proxy. Try another host and/or browser and see if it works better.

  Since the PIX 4.4 software and versions later, you can go directly to any newer version of the software. To preserve your config, but it's always a good idea to back it up before an upgrade as you did. The config in the PIX is actually not get converted when PIX is restarted with the new software - what happens the first time you do a "write mem" under the new software, it is so important to remember to do as part of the upgrade process. You can then check the config freshly recorded against your configuration of backup for all differences. In addition, it is important to check the Release Notes before upgrading, but if you have a config PIX relatively simple it will probably be fine. One thing you want to do is migrate away from lines on access lists. Cisco is a utility that allows to convert them for you, and it does a very good job as long as your config is not too complex, so I might suggest to give it a try and see how it works for you. The downloadable version of this utility must be on the same page as other PIX software download, and there are versions for Windows and Sun Solaris.

  Since the upgrade to 4.0.1 I have lost Norton toolbar with secure identity, I spoke with Norton and they say I need to revert to a previous version because they have no solution. However, this problem is on my laptop XP Pro only. My office has the same version and everything works OK. I have since checked troubleshooting info and noticed that norton extensions are listed on both computers with ID but one office is registered as activated. This problem can be solved on my laptop to find norton (who works on another PC) or have I not other choices reloading to an earlier version of firefox and if yes what is the easest wy for this with no loss of bookmarks etc.

  Yesterday I upgraded to Flash to the latest version, and today, I still had the problem, so that is definitely ruled out as a cause.

  OTOH I use FF for 2 days without a hitch I was looking all around), and had the slowdown appear today after I had activated Firebug to monitor the http traffic on a site I'm developing.
