Love Mozilla, but my firefox home page is hijacked by Web-Safe, superior-research, research-Global, how to remove?

I tried several times to get rid of this = Web-Safe, superior-research, research-Global, which is taking over my beloved Firefox homepage. I also use Thunderbird as my email service. I'm in Windows 8. None of the safe, senior or global names appear in my list of installed programs. I tried the 'reveal' function & still do not see it. When I zap it with Malwarebytes, it disappears, but returns when I have to restart the computer. Refresing the Firefox homepage also has same result. Help? I have 3 teenage kids who have probably inadvertently downloaded this nuisance.

Hi SaltyDaz, an add-on could still be integrated into Internet Explorer. You can read this article: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/manage-add-ons

  • Firefox home page search and click right options does not.

After updating Firefox hoping to increase the speed of response, I have found that a right click on a web page address does a menu appear much longer than before, which is correct, but now none of these options seem to work. 'Open the link in a new tab' does not work, nothing happens. Similarly, 'Copy link location' does not work, or 'copy image' for the photos. Also my Firefox home page, which is a search for Firefox, not working, when a search item is entered and 'Search' clicked, the entry disappears and nothing else happens. To get here to ask for help, I had to enter www.google.com on the FF browser address line and then use Google search to access these pages in support of Mozilla. I since started Firefox in safe mode without success by allowing these features disabled. I've also updated Firefox once more without success, no change except my Menu bar disappeared. What can I do to revive these features disabled? I don't want to not risk losing my bookmarks.

    Thank you!

Uninstall it and reinstall brought the right click functions with the original, much smaller and fortunately preserved inscription my favorites.

  • Ads pop up on my FireFox home page

What happens here? I have my homepage set. Ads appear at the top of my home page. Why? I checked my add on extensions and abducted in recent extensions of the best Surf. I just check through my plugins, and I have disabled things like: RocketLife Secure Layer plugin 1.0.5.0 (it has something to do with the photos, but I do not recognize.); Shockwave Flash 12.0.0.44 (I have no idea what the heck it does.) "It was the Sea 5 February 14 he was in my plugin list.) ; Unity Player 3.5.0.43544 (Gosh darn, that I have absolutely no idea hell on that either.) Now, I also checked the dates on the other plugins running. If the dates appearing in eight other plugins were a little older than last week so I've just left alone. I thought everything was working fine before today just recently. I also have my Firefox to its default settings, I have redefined and my choice of appearance. Is there something else I should do to stop the unwanted ads appear on my screen or the tabs open unexpectedly or invite them to do something?

    My friends in Firefox:

I worked on this situation now for a few hours. I think I solved the problem. Here's what I did. I saw my plugins and extensions as described above. I found a program on my desktop called: Smart Media Converter. How it got there?-well, I don't know if I took it from my Add/Remove Programs list. Also, I deleted the shortcut and removed from the Recycle Bin. I clicked on the link in an advertisement that appeared on the top of my home page. This led me to some information on how advertising got there in the first place. I discovered that a program called: Content Explorer was responsible for placed these ads on my Firefox home page. I followed the instructions to remove it from Add/Remove Programs list. During the uninstall process, the uninstall program is stuck before completing. I guess that when I removed Smart Media Converter to my computer the Content Explorer uninstall program was looking for, which could be why it got stuck himself uninstallation. I clicked on finish anyway. I went back to the Firefox browser, and now everything's fine.

Furthermore, I turned back on Shockwave Flash 12.0.0.44 on the recommendation of jscher2000. The other two plugins described earlier are set to never activate. I guess if I need them, I'll be notified somehow.

I hope that my update helps those who may encounter this same problem. Thank you.

  • My Firefox home page doesn't include Google search. Why is this?

My Firefox home page doesn't include Google search.
I would like to include a photo, but Firefox Help does not seem to allow this.
There is an empty space where Google search would normally be.
If you type in a search, it takes you to a search engine called http://uk.search-results.com.

  • Why Support of Firefox home page load when I open firefox?

Why Support of Firefox home page load when I open firefox? I'm on Dial-Up and I have my homepage to Yahoo.com. Home page of Firefox Support both Yahoo.com pages load at the same time. It takes too much time. I already read the homepage of support and have no need every time I load Firefox. How can I stop it each time to load?

Implement: config and filter support.mozilla.com (if that's the page you mention actually) to see source. Also check that you have only a single home page in tools > general and that you bring to the top of the previous session, see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page

I have somehow deleted the toolbar on my Firefox home page. How can I get it and I hope that my favorites, tools, etc.

    Hello.

Go to view > toolbars, and select the toolbars you want to display. If you don't see the menu bar, just type ALT on your keyboard. Right anywhere in the toolbar will show you also the menu (no rightclick stuff which can be rightclicked to other functions, like the back menu or tabs).

  • Whenever I click on the "home" button, my home page is displayed but a Firefox start page opens in a new tab. How can I stop this?

This problem began only after I've upgraded to the latest version of Firefox.

    Hi Doug,.

Sorry about that. It might be this time your home page and the Firefox start page are defined as your home page.

Here's how to reset your home page:

    1. Open your home page and close other tabs
    2. Click on the

menu button and click on Preferences

    3. In the Preferences window, click on general
    4. Click the use current Pages button

I hope this will fix things. Let us know if it works!

  • I downloaded a new version of WinZip. This misuse of my Firefox home page. I keep trying to recover the old settings, but there all including Bing like homepage. What should I do?

I tried dragging and deleting MyYahoo in the homepage and it resets to Bing, whenever I have reconnect.

    Hi Mnor,

You should take a look at the Knowledge Base How to set the home pagearticle. Your home page might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc. (and it appears winzip) have been know to ask to become your homepage.

There are the steps in this article to reset your preferences on the default home page. I would try everything first to clear all strangeness. If it works, you can try to set your homepage again to your personal preferences.

If this does not work, you should look at article unsaved Preferences.

Finally, your problem may be because you have been hit by some malware.

    Hope this helps!

  • How to add a link to a Web page directly on my firefox home page

Safari has a function which, on their homepage, are small boxes that are links to Web sites, you go often to which is so useful. Can I do this with Firefox? I don't want to type in my goto sites every time, especially if I go to them every day.
    Thank you!!

Fred mentioned using the bookmarks toolbar. See this article on this subject.
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/bookmarks-toolbar-display-favorite-websites

I don't use Safari in a good number of years, so I don't know what functions it has. The default Firefox Start Page / Home Page is incorporated into the code of Firefox and has no configurable element of the user where the user can add anything; However, it loads information from a secure server of Mozilla that changes from time to time.

But you can define what you want to be "your" home page that appears whenever you open Firefox relatively easily.
