• Portege M200 with external monitor - what is the best resolution?

  As a result of a recent post on using an external monitor with the M400, I have a question on the use of one with the M200. I realize that the M200 uses the graphics card Nvidia rather than the graphics card Intel in the M400 - is it better with regard to the use of an external display is concerned? The M200 manual says that it will support up to 1600 x 1536 resolution on an external display. I want to use my M200 in a docking station with an external monitor to the extended desktop.

  Well, the resolution of the screen depends primarily on the graphics card.
  If you want to use a display resolution that the graphics card must support. In addition, the graphics card driver is important. If the graphics card will support the resolution of the screen, BUT the resolution is not listed in the graphics driver, so you will not be able to choose this value.

  You can not change the data type of the column while there are data in the MV, so you might as well give up and recreate the MV with a TO_CHAR() around the column in question in the application of MV to get the data exactly as you want (be sure to include an appropriate format mask). That said, I'm fighting to think reasonable grounds to make such a change.

  I'd probably use the online tool to create the line. You can hold the SHIFT key to make the straight line. For triangles, you can either use the polygon tool (shift click to set the number of sides) or you can create a square with the rectangle tool (hold down the SHIFT key while dragging to make a square) and use the pen tool to remove a corner of the shape, creating a triangle. I generally prefer the polygon tool.

  With the workload that you mention, only one processor (E5520 or better) should be enough. However, you will need to ensure that it meets the requirements of the customer. What I would probably want to start with is:

  Material:

  • 1 x E5520 (or better) CPU
  • 1 x Player DVD (otherwise, ILO)
  • 1 x RAID controller P41x with 1 GB FBWC
  • n x SAS hard disks 10 k/15 k (number of disks depends on your needs in capacity and e/s)
  • 4 x 8 GB memory (it works with a single processor and you can distribute modules if you plan to install a second processor later)
  • 2 x power supplies

  Maybe you can get a 'Performance' model for a good price. These models already include 2 CPUs, DVD player, 2 power supplies, RAID controeller/FBWC...

  BIOS settings:

  • Intel Virtualization Technology (VT - x) - active
  • No Execute Disable Bit - active
  • Profile - static high power Performance

  Installation of comments:

  • Windows Server 2003 aligns partitions to 63 blocks (31.5 KB) by default. For better disk performance consider to preconfigure the partitions with an alignment of partition of 1 MB (the default value for the most recent versions of Windows).
  • Start at the bottom with the vCPUs supply you for guests and only increase the number of vCPUs if necessary.

  At a minimum, assuming you want a decent quality signal on each floor, you'll need a total of at least 3 airports... one location per floor... or... If you do not need a cover for the entire floor, so that the airport would be located in the heart of the area on each floor where you plan to use wireless.

  Ideally, you will use the same AirPort Extreme devices on each floor.

  For the best performance by far, plan to connect all airports together using a wired Ethernet cable connection. For example, if the airport on the first floor will be your "primary" router, then airports in the basement and upstairs both would connect back to the airport of first floor using Ethernet cables.
