LPT USB converter

I have a Toshiba satellite A100-233 notebook
I want to connect to it an EEPROM, EPROM and a microcontroller ELNEC-SMARTPROG programmer
So I buy a converter USB to parallel cable, when I connect it, the windows XP recognizes the device automatically as "USB printing support".
But what I need is a virtual parallel port LPT (such as a serial port virtual who's worked for me), since the programmer setting allow me to choose the parallel LPT port.

I live in Jordan.
but when I send mail from (i.e. [email protected]) UNITED Arab Emirates support, I received a delivery of my e-mail account page

Thanks for the help

Hello

A friend of mine sometimes do some experiments and he told me that you MUST use a parallel cable and not some converters.

He also said that the possibility of using the PCMCIA card is a good idea but he don t know if it will be 100% working.

  • USB converter with serial GPS error

I recently created a program to record GPS data from a Garmin GPS18 antenna.  The GPS uses a serial port on the docking station for my laptop for the communication and USB for power.  To deploy this application to a location in the field, I need to use a USB converter to series because the laptop itself is not a serial port.  The program works very well using the docking station and it is a serial port, however, when you try to use the converter USB to serial it mistake systematically.  The typical error is-1073807523, "VISA Read in GPS18_read.vi."  I saw an error that read something like "property (point 8) in VISA node configure Serial Port (Instr) .through - > GPS18_read.vi '.

For troubleshooting, I used 'PuTTYtel' and checked that I can read the GPS18 via the USB Serial Converter, without problems.  Used serial settings are 19200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity and no flow control.  But when you try to play using the LabView vi, it throws errors mentioned earlier.  Any suggestion would be appreciated!

  • How to set up a USB converter to series on a virtual XP machine

    Envy 17 3D: i7 2090nr: model LV045UA #ABA, Windows 7 Professional

I am installing a converter USB to COM on a virtual PC XP series. Neither Belkin nor IOGEAR USB to Serial converters are able to accomplish this because they cannot work within a virtual machine, according to their support personnel and I checked it's true.

Is it possible to install a USB converter to series on a virtual XP machine?

    Kind regards

    LMNUCOHEN

It turns out that, integration features have been installed, when I created the virtual machine. In addition to starting the virtual machine, it enables the integration features.

Based on previous comments by the previous speaker, what I'm trying to cannot be done.

    Thank you for responding.

  • VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF003A) using a RS232 USB converter

Hi, I'm reading a pH meter and it is connected to my computer by USB using a USB RS232 converter. NOR-MAX recognizes the instrument, but when I try to play the instrument in the testpanel I timeout error. When I read the status byte, it gave me the following error VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF003A) cannot start the operation because the installer is not valid (because of attributes defined in an inconsistent state). I looked in the attributes and saw the following error VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF001D) the specified attribute is not defined or supported by the resource referenced. the pH meter is a unit of office of simpel with the following characteristics: baud rate 9600 8 data bits years 1 stop only bit no control flow or parity.

Why try to read the status byte? It is not an instrument based GPIB is?

What attribute? I asked in your original post to attach a screenshot of MAX. Why should someone have to guess? I suspect this attribute doesn't apply to serial devices OR and is not relevant to try to read the status byte.

Check if you are using the right type of cable and check to see if you add the correct end character. You also do not mention if you write what whether in port or just do a reading. You mention also the seller or the model number of the meter.

  • Gbspecifications FOR control using prologix usb converter

    Hello

I wonder if anyone has an expirience controlling instruments gpib with labview by using a Gbspecifications for controller usb (prologix).  Specifically, I'm looking at the controller a 8753ES agilent VNA.  This model is a little old, but I think it should always work.  So far, I've installed the cirtual com port (vcp) drivers for the device, and he now recognizes the controller prologix com4.  However, I don't know how to access the device connected to com4.  Agilent IO does not (although I'm not sure that there are drivers for it anyway).  I think I need the computer had to recognise as a hub gpio instead of a com port, but I don't know how to do this.  Should I d2xx drivers?  Using a tool on the site web of prologix, I communicate with the survey of the adapter address gpib 16 (which I have the AVI), and the survey answers.  On the side of NES, I put the address of 5, gp - ib diag on controller and a talker/listener.  Currently, the light T is on, which means it's on talk (as opposed to the r, l or s).  Any help would be appreciated.  If I could get an address of visa, it would be great.

    Thank you

    Eric

The unit works if you detect it as a COM port. There is no way it will be never detected as a controller with Agilent GPIB or OR software. There is no reason at all anyway use Agilent software. There is example code on the site of Prologix with functions series VISA. In addition, the forum search «Prologix»

  • Data read rotation Labview via a cable line RS232 and USB converter series

I have a program to read a string of data to a 2B Technologies Ozone monitor model 202.  The program does not come to the top with an error message, but every 30 to 40 hours Labview will turn my row of data.  For example, if a normal data row is 34.5, 37.5, 812.0, 934.0, 07/11/14, 11:52:38 and coma delaminated, then the problem is the reading (first digit) ozone layer displays the reference zero, then the seconds of the playback time will be moves in the spot ozone in the data file and the line will turn from there.  I tried to change the bytes being read to the Labview program and the many ways of emptying the buffer, but the problem is still there.  I have attached an example of data file in which the problem took place and a screenshot of my labview program.  I am a user of labview fairly new descriptive help would be much appreciated.  Thank you!

When you use a termination character, do not use the bytes to the Port. Just wire a constant to the number of bytes that is larger that the largest message possible.

  • How to switch between 0 v and 5 v using the FTDI USB-to-TTL converter?

I have one of these (TTL-232R-5V-WE) FTDI (http://www.ftdichip.com/Products/Cables/USBTTLSerial.htm) and it came with a few screws to control the USB converter.

However, I do not know how to exit (between Vcc and Gnd) 5V to 0V.

Basically, what I need is alternation since the converter FTDI TTL signal output.

Any help please? Thank you in advance.

    Hi sclow,

the link provided, you will find data sheets with all the necessary information. This device implements a COM port that is usual with just TTL level signals. The SCR will always provide + 5V with no opption put. But we can use the CTS/RTS signals! Just look at the description of the node property VISA-> settings-> modem line parameters series...

  • USB serial Converter

Hello, I need to connect my PC to a device with a serial port (rs232). However, I don't have an available serial port on my CPU, so I was thinking about using a USB converter to series. However, I've never used before. My question is if these converters are ALWAYS two-way or some don't work only one way. If so, is it so unidirectional or bidirectional converters, can they communicate from the PC to the device? Here's the thing, when I went to the store to get one, I was told that it communicates only from the device to the PC and I need it the other way around. Since this is the kind of emergency, I intend to use a converter that is NOT of National Instruments. However, the control software for the device is a VI.

Also, if I can use the converter to communicate data from the PC to the device, LabView detects the port as a normal serial port or what I need to do my VI to control the usb port?

    Thank you

    Ali

Thanks to all for your responses. I also thought buy a PCI with two ports for PC series, because I think they are a little more reliable. Anyway, I tried the converter and so far it has worked well. Thanks again.

  • A ps2 keyboard convert USB simply using an adapter?

Toshiba, Win XP Pro, ps2 Mitsumi external laptop keyboard. I want to use this keyboard in addition to the internal keyboard. Will it work simply by using a USB adapter or do I have to do something else? My laptop has no PS/2 port.

Only if it has been designed for a.  The all-new (as still in its original packaging, but not really NEW) Mitsumi keyboards I've seen are designed according to DIN (aka AT) and sheets mini-DIN (aka PS/2) and do not come with an adapter.  They precede the widespread use of USB.  Later keyboards use the lower signal levels and are designed with adapters of connection to hot and passive in mind.

As above, most of the adapters are passive and only connect PS/2 cables to equivalent USB contacts.  What you really need is a PS/2 to USB converter that has an integrated circuit (IC) that makes active signal conversion, I know the IOGear GUC10KM ($19,95 USD MSRP) is such a device, but I've never used.  TigerDirect/CompUSA sells it for $15.99.

(No, I do not work for IOGear or TigerDirect/CompUSA.  "They have just the best deal today.)

  • Converter USB not recognized

I was using a PS/2 to USB converter up to with my keyboard and it worked very well. Recently, I bought another converter but it does not work. Lights on keyboard flash for a second, but then go dead. I received a message saying "Windows doesn't recognize USB device". Anyone can help in this regard. Thank you

The new converter you purchased does not work with your keyboard. It's common. Although converters are similar, they are not on the inside. You probably need the converter provided with your keyboard or return to one that worked. Or put your USB keyboard directly into a USB port. If you run out of USB ports, get a USB hub (preferably a motorized). MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
