lsnrctl reload for RAC

Hi all

I had a problem when using db CARS. I tried to get the status of the listener after I reload it. And I get the error

  • lsnrctl reload option

    Hi all

    I want to change the listener.ora file and add a parameter "SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT_LISTENER = OFF".

    To do this, I wanted to stop/start the listener for the setting to take effect.

    But, I was put in doubt if I can add the parameter without earphone power. So, I came across this "lsnrctl reload" option

    Can anyone shed a light on this option? I'm not sure how this desire to drive?

    Database is 10.2.0.2.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Nick.

    Change the setting and opt for charging, it will reread the listener and changes are made. It won't take long.

  • Upgradation OS for RAC

    Hi guys... How is everything...

    I have the node CCR on Windows2003R2 Itaniam. I need to know is there any procedure for upgradation OS for RAC... I mean I'm going to the bottom of the Cluster & when the OS database places a gradation.

    Hello

    you need not stop the entire base.
    Upgrades of the OS can be in upgradeable mode (so one node after another), you must stop the instance and the clusterstack on the node, you perform the upgrade.

    Policies to support Oracle to launch of the CARS with different versions of an operating system within a period of 24 hours.
    In other words: after completing the upgrade of the first node you have 24 hours to what your other nodes must be at the same level of the new OS.

  • ASM vs RAID for RAC 11 GR 2 environment

    Hello!
    We plan to install 11 GR 2 CARS with two-node Cluster on LINUX in our environment.
    Operating system: OEL 5.4
    In our material, we got two dell servers with 16 GB of RAM on each side more on SAN we have only 8 (173 GB) disk left for RAC Cluster configuration. I create the database (LIVE/UAT) on this Cluster Setup. Currently our Production DB dimensions are 6 GB and I assumed that for 5 years, that he's not going beyond 100 GB coming and I keep size UAT 15 GB difficulty without modification. So, how do get you the best performance from ASM using my all resources.

    My question:
    (1) who is the best solution for the ASM and RAID in our storage environment?
    (2) disc how do I create a group for the two databases (UAT/LIVE)?
    (3) records how much should I allocate in each group of disks with RAID Option or if all this suggests for LUNS, how to create LUNS on the disk I got?
    (4) I know oracle recommends two DATA DISK group & FRA is there any suggestion of CRS, REDO and TEMP FILE?
    Thank you for your Assintance.

    Nadège.

    My first question was: which RAID Option (0,1,5,0+1) I choose with ASM?

    Well, it does not matter for the DSO. At least in your configuration with 8 disks.
    RAID0is not an option - forget about it. RAID1 (or combined with more than two discs and a RAID0 superimposed making it a RAID 1 + 0) could be an option for the writing intensive databases. RAID5 is more for intensive reading due the RAID5 write hole but offers a capacity of 'more' at the expense of slower writing speed.

    I have recommended to the stick with RAID1 (mirroring two disks) and exporting to ASM rather than create a big RAID1 + 0 on all of your discs and exporting as a big Chuck of ASM storage for the management of. If you want to add storage lateron your perfect according to the recommendations of the Oracles have LUNS of equal size in ASM with two mirrored drives. If you create it large RAID 1 + 0 and lateron add two drives you have a 600 GB size logic unit number and a 170 GB size... it's a big shift.

    But if I create TWO group of disk then, is it advisable to provide two data bases (UAT/LIVE). ?

    Normally, there is a separation between UAT and P on the storage and the server level. In your case, it might be 'ok' to do everything in the same disk group. It depends especially of what database puts the load on the disk subsystem.

  • Mrp for RAC RAC Data guard configuration configuration

    Grid infrastructure: 11.2.0.4

    DB version: 11.2.0.4

    OS: RHEL 6.5

    Never configured dataguard to the prior CFR.

    We have a production of 3 CARS DB nodes and we plan to implement a physical standby 3-node DB with real-time applies for this prod DB.

    In a RAC database, we can only configure one mrp on the side waiting. Thus, apart from the day before, we decided to use Node3 to run MRP. We send redo all instances as stated above on the primary side

    Configuration side Step1.Primary

    Thus, in the all 3 instances of primary DB, we will configure LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 as follows.

    Again all 3 instances should now point to Instance3 Node3 break-in:

    ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 = 'service =acmsprd_dr0_tns delay LGWR SYNC AFFIRM = 0 DB_UNIQUE_NAME = acmsprd_dr0 VALID_FOR = (primary_role, online_logfile)' scope = both;

    Where acmsprd_dr0_tns is the following entry of TNS. As you can see, this name TNS tip to the side instance3 ensures

    acmsprd_dr0_tns =

    (DESCRIPTION =

    (ADDRESS_LIST =

    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = yrmst197 - vip3.apac.strcld)(PORT = 1521) .net)

    )

    (CONNECT_DATA =

    (SERVICE_NAME = acmsprd)

    (INSTANCE_NAME = acmsprd_dr03)

    )

    )

    Configuration of Step2.Standby side:

    Instance3 side Eve in Node3 in, start the MRP with real time apply

    sqlplus / as sysdba

    bootable media;

    change the database recovery managed standby database using the current log file disconnect;

    Nothing wrong with my steps above? Is there anything else I should do with respect to mrp?

    Thus, apart from the day before, the RFS process in each node will apply again he received primary for SRls independently to know if the mrp runs in this node. Right?

    Incorrect answer. RFS does not apply again as you said. RFS receives that again. However, RFS on all standby nodes can receive redo of any process of LNS on any node of the primary.

    It is the MRP which makes it apply, no RFS.

    Hi Brian,.

    You said

    "It is not necessary to attribute a SRL to a specific thread. This means that it is possible (and this is how I set up my backup RAC databases) for a SRL be used by any instance, no thread. »

    When you configure dataguard RAC DBs Eve (or primary DBs), add you the newspapers of recovery sleep without THREAD clause as below?

    alter database add standby logfile Group 1 ('+ ORL_DG1', '+ ORL_DG2') size 500M;

    alter database add standby logfile Group 2 ('+ ORL_DG1', '+ ORL_DG2') size 500M;

    alter database add standby logfile group 3 ('+ ORL_DG1', '+ ORL_DG2') size 500M;

    I dot does not specify a thread when creating my SRls. There is no reason to do so. Just that if you have X son of your primary and each thread has groups of newspapers make there, and then create of X * Y SRL in the day before.

    While you create the SRls, remember to create in primary school as well. You'll want them at the primary level to support the transition to the future operations.

    If this is the case, in any node Eve RFS can apply again to roll forward pending any newspaper in the standby database. Right?

    Often when people have discussions like this, it hurts ensure us that we are semantically correct otherwise, we can easily get confusing terms...

    In this case, RFS can write to any SRL, since they won't be assigned to a specific thread. And the SRL is not written in alternating as the ORLs. Then you can definitely see some of the SRL files never get used if you don't have enough flow to make to justify.

    I stay away from the term applies when the MRI because apply is that means MRP. Terms of mixing can sometimes lead to confusion on the road, that's why I would make sure to use the term appropriate to the discussion at hand. I started this answer indicating that RFS is not the 'applies' because of the way the term should be used. That I get to this part of your last post, I see that maybe we get mixed up words that's why I wanted to sort them.

    See you soon,.

  • Question RE: Configuration of ADR for RAC

    During the configuration of the War ADR to the initial configuration, we are prompted to enter a host name and a database name. However, if the database containing the installation of the APEX is a RAC, what should we provide here?

    I mean, on a node of 8 CARS for example, we have 8 guests for a database. We do not simply choose one of them, for example node 1, because that kind of defeats, the main reasons to have a CAR in the first place, switch.

    If all goes well, the answer is not obvious, but, in the affirmative, please let me know.

    Thank you

    -Joe

    Not sure that someone is actually watching this community at all. Almost all the answers I see here are those where the poster, eventually finds the answer for himself and publishes it. including this one.

    To connect to a RAC, you simply specify "host" of the listener SCAN name. Although it is a virtual host, ADR has no problem connecting to it and make use of it.

    If you have old configurations of CARS of style, which is devoid of SCAN listeners, then you can use the TNS Alias version:

    Create file with these entries:

    db.connectionType = tns

    db.tnsAliasName = mydb

    db.tnsDirectory=d:/oracle/mydb/network/admin

    DB. HostName =

    DB.port =

    DB. ServiceName =

    Assuming that the file created is named ords_db_properties.txt, you would load it in ADR with the following command:

    java-jar ords.war all properties d:\ords_db_properties.txt

    * sigh *.

  • Storage shared by NFS for RAC

    Hello

    I intend to set up a node 2 CARS. However, I have only the internal drive to use and no SIN /SAN. So I intend to share some of the ability of alternatives I have on the internal nodes 1 & 2 discs and make shared storage using NFS. However I have a few questions about it.

    Q1. Since the NFS mount will indeed be file system media, this means that for the storage for the Cluster option and the RAC database that I can only use option 'shared file system' and not 'ASM '?

    I think what is confusing me is that I think that I read that the ASM disks can be complete physical disks, partitions of a disk, SAN LUNS or NFS?

    If this is the case then it suggests that I can create an ASM disk based on a NFS mount?

    I don't know how to do this - any help / advice would be appreciated because ideally, I would have preferred to create candidate ASM disks based on the shared NFS disk

    Thank you

    Jim

    You can use NFS as your clustered file system, but if you want to use ASM we top of the page so it no problem: dd to create large files on the file system shared, for example,

    If DD \u003d/dev/zero of = / mnt/nfs/asmdisk1 bs = 1048576 count = 2048

    and set your asm_diskstring parameter to point to them (or specify them as devices to be used at installation time). It is very easy to set up and is fully supported by Oracle of the uncle. I recorded a few demos that include this a year or two before, Oracle ASM free tutorial

  • Shared LUN for RAC: VirtualBox or Openfiler?

    I'm going to install a grid of 2 nodes 11.2.0.3 Infrastructure and DB on Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.3

    SE host: Windows 7 (16 GB of RAM)
    Guest operating system: OEL 6.3
    Hypervisor: VirtualBox 4.2.6

    Its been over a year that Virtual box introduced the shared LUN feature.

    To configure the shared lun, would you use River creation shared LUN Openfiler or VirtualBox?

    I know openfiler needs a dedicated virtual computer to create. But I have enough RAM on my PC (16GB).

    Hello

    the shared LUN feature is really good and sufficient to test the CARS. Personally, I would put the memory for images of node RAC, because 11 GR 2 needs more RAM than 10g.

    But it depends, on what you exactly you want to test. If it's just for holiday CARS with LUN shared experience.
    If you want to test the storage or payments NFS/drop down, then Openfiler is probably better...

  • Can I use file of udev rules for RAC on Oracle Enterprise Linux 6 11.2.0.3?

    Version of the grid: 11.2.0.3
    Platfomrm: The last Oracle Enterprise Linux 6 (Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel)

    Yes guys Oracle sales have convinced our Manager to go OEL of AIX.
    We plan to install RAC on Oracle Enterprise Linux 6 (UEK) 11.2.0.3.

    I read this thread on the asmlib and udev rules file.
    List of rules for CAR 10.2 udev

    As a benefit to ASMLib, periera Levi said (quotes)
    '+ A good async IO interface to the database, all the I/o interface is based on a model of performance + ASYNC'

    Oracle is not out for 6 OEL or RHEL 6 AsmLib. I think that they will not release asmlib more.

    So, we will use only the udev rules file. Without ASMLib, we will have an ASYNCHRONOUS i/o or other storage related issues?

    Someone at - it successfully installed 11.2.0.3 RAC OEL 6 with udev rules file?

    I use +/etc/udev/rules.d/40-multipath.rules+ udev file to configure the permissions of device of multiple devices on path to e/s for use by o/s user grid.

    It is as follows:

    # modded for setting mpath device permissions

    SUBSYSTEM!="block", GOTO="end_mpath"

    KERNEL!="dm-[0-9]*", GOTO="end_mpath"

    ACTION=="add", RUN+="/sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath --exec '/sbin/kpartx -a -p p' -j %M -m %m"

    # goto labels added
    PROGRAM=="/sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath --exec /bin/basename -j %M -m %m", RESULT=="?*", NAME="%k", SYMLINK="mpath/%c", GOTO="check_cluster_devs"
    PROGRAM!="/bin/bash -c '/sbin/dmsetup info -c --noheadings -j %M -m %m | /bin/grep -q .*:.*:.*:.*:.*:.*:.*:part[0-9]*-mpath-'", GOTO="check_cluster_devs"
    PROGRAM=="/sbin/dmsetup ls --target linear --exec /bin/basename -j %M -m %m", NAME="%k", RESULT=="?*", SYMLINK="mpath/%c", GOTO="check_cluster_devs"

    GOTO="end_mpath"

    # set device permissions for Grid Infrastructure
    LABEL="check_cluster_devs"
    RESULT=="*", GROUP="oinstall", MODE="660"
    RESULT=="*", OWNER="grid", GROUP="oinstall", MODE="660"
    OPTIONS="last_rule"

    LABEL="end_mpath"

    # eof

    I understand that it is no longer necessary that can be configured in +/etc/multipath.conf+ as follows:

    ..
    multipaths {
        multipath {
            wwid  SSCST_BIOscst1_sdb_757d30d0
            alias scst1_sdb
            mode 0660
            uid oinstall
            gid grid
          }
    .. etc.
    }

    However, has never work properly myself--must do something wrong that I saw a few sources Internet showing it works.

    As far as I KNOW, it is also with OL6 (as it is with OL5 and earlier versions), not a question of AsmLib or udev/MPIO. Udev is a Mapper devices used by the kernel. The decision is whether to add another layer called AsmLib. Personally, I have yet to see any convincing evidence that why should I increase the complexity of the kernel driver stack, adding AsmLib. We also had a few serious incompatibility with AsmLib issues in the past (where he with, caused compatible I/O corruption at the logical level).

    If you look at the clusters in the www.top500.org list, many of them have shared storage accessible via udev/multichemin Pentabytes and nothing else. MPIO has its roots as a driver of kernel for these groups. One of the reasons why we stopped years ago to use EMC Powerpath for our CARS that are wired to EMC San to shared storage.

    I read in other posts OTN RAC with firewire storage is only good for demonstration purposes. This means that it is not good for the DBs development at least?

    Hello

    That said, that it is not supported for production.
    It may be good enough for development. Just keep in mind that an error condition are harder to reproduce.

    On the other hand, software machine virtual (virtual box/Oracle VM) will also seek to build a CAR on the same machine without needing a storage "externally/shared.
    For development, on 1 Server Setup is pretty good too... (Just don't use it in production, because he abandoned the idea of HA having 1 Server ;)

    Agree.

    On all databases, that I never managed, even in the era of mainframe, was my sysadmin/root access in order to exercise my DBA functions. Often service waiting too for sysadmin is not available. Similarly, the sysadmin also often held in a DBA when I'm on vacation or unavailable.

    It is a partnership - both parties have the same goals and objectives. A stable and robust and functional environment.

    Set up the walls between these parties on behalf of the so-called security policy? My point is that will be invariable cause more problems than what it addresses. And I've seen it in other departments - where a minor problem takes several days to resolve due to the wall (and distrust) between sysadmin and s/n, regardless of the amount of paperwork needed to get real results as the responsibility and accountability are ignored by both parties.

    Mdb1.undo_tablespace = "UNDOTBS1.
    MDB2.undo_tablespace = "UNDOTBS2".

    What should I enter in the file init auxiliary instance for these Undo tablespace? I'll put CLUSTER_DATABASE false since the duplicate database is a single instance one. Only the Source database is RAC.

    I'm cloning only SYSTEM, SYSAUX tablespace user and tablespaces Cancel two to 14 days sometime back. I'm ignoring all other storage spaces.

    You only need a cancellation single tablespace... you can also create one afterwards if you want.

  • VM Ware for RAC

    Hi friends,

    I want to learn/test installation RAC on VMware.

    Currently we have a RAC PROD on the OEL servers. Setup has been done or outsourced from Oracle, and maintenance is not included, so I can't check. The problem is, I have a knowledge of CARS. I would like to make a few updates but I'm afraid to do that because we do not have a server to test CARS.

    Deploys a RAC on VMware TEST image and behavior similar to the RAC real PROD do? That way if I make updates to the TEST RAC on VMware, does it follow that he also will be managed on the FCAC PROD?

    What VMware should I choose or what is most easy to install? VMware for Windows or VMware for linux?

    Thank you very much

    Yes, CARS on VM will be similar to PRODCTION RAC. But CARS on virtual machines is not supported by Oracle for PRODUCTION systems. This will be very useful for testing and learning purposes.

    What VMware should I choose or what is most easy to install? VMware for Windows or VMware for linux?

    It depends on you, according to your choice. You can find documents for both platforms.

    For linux:

    Reference: http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/rac/ArticlesRac.php

    For Windows:

    Can I find out what version of the CARS you want to deploy on VMWARE?

    Thank you
