• M201dw: auto on off auto vs on the M201DW

  I just installed my new M201dw. Everything seems to work well so far, with the exception of "auto on".

  I thought that "Auto on" is the opposite of "Auto off" and when I put the auto-off timer

  at, say, 2 hours, the printer stops after 2 hours but who then when I try to print

  Wireless lights itself automatically (using "auto off"). I made sure

  in the menu of the printer under power settings, wake up the wireless is set to yes.

  But, when I try to print the printer remains off. To print I have to manually press the power

  button.

  Is this true? Is "Auto on" not the opposite of "Auto off" and instead of just the opposite of 'sleep '?

  (Which normally then called 'wake up'...) Or can I fact, I turn on the printer

  automatically?

  I checked the printer user guide. In my view, that the automatic stop function the printer is off after a period of time which has been selected. Then, you have to manually turn on the printer. Auto-should be allowed to the printer in sleep mode and when you send a job or a fax to the printer must wake up automatically.

  Our two new printers Laserjet Pro M201dw are not recognized on the office network.   I have spent hours trying to understand this and posted questions on the forum Support HP, but without response. They became more disadvantages than thay are worth.  And that's enough.  Then I explained the problem to management and they said 'don't buy it not all HP printers more.'

  I tried to BootP and disable ipv6 on a printer and at first, it worked (finally).  But then, after having unplugged and restarted, he returned to the ip address of connection no.

  So finally, I noticed and changed the setting of the link of "Automatic" to '100TX' speed full - and that seems to have solved the problem of intermittency.  I've converted and turn it back on, unplugged, etc., and it maintains the connection and ip address.

  Do not want to play with something that works, I can't say with certainty if the speed of one link would have solved the problem (probably not), but it seems that while your excellent suggestions finally established a network connection, the setting of explicit link speed was necessary to maintain the connection.

  Hello - I bought a M201dw Pro Laserjet is approximately 3 months.  I just change the original cartridge as an idea of how much/little it has been used. It has worked well for 3 months but started printing very slowly, or not at all with in the last few days.  It is not a network printer, it is directly connected to my PC.

  Try going into the service of the printer menu and changing the USB high speed to full

  The printer will restart and will have the best speed for the connection

  So, make sure the USB under 6 ft s and s a direct connection print and PC (without REPEATER MULTIPORT USB or something similar)

  This is a great place to visit for a community support and HP! I see that the power LED flashes when in stand bye mode and you want to know how to stop. I would like to help.

  It is a feature of the printer when in sleep mode, the power LED flashes to warn that the printer is in sleep mode. When you touch the screen the power light goes back to a solid light. There isn't any way to change this feature.

  The printer should be turned off, unfortunately.

• Printer HP Laserjet Pro M201dw: Drop-outs of HP M201dw print after the 1st page of the multiple-pg docs

  Installed M201dw HP laserjet on home network: router Asus Dark Knight (RT-N66U).  All PC running IE 11, Win 7/64 Prof.  Config page shows no IP addr for printer.

  Printer does not print more than 1 page of multi-page documents.  PCL XL Error message print at the top of page 2 and printer abandoned the remaining pages in the print job.  Printer display reads "Ready"; serial printer ' wireless on.»  No error message on PC.   No special printing parameters for employment; sided printing.

  Latest printer driver downloaded from HP; printer "USB001 Virtual printer for USB Port."

  Note: Took 3 hours to install this printer 'plug and play '.  Installation kept failing.  And, earlier this evening, when the printer was falling asleep, all computers thrown off network... None of this was happening until we added the printer to the network.

  All your suggestions had already been verified or updated before posting, but kept for lack of print documents from PC Word.  Called HP technical support never coming back as they promised, so I was wondering what was different between implemented for HP M201dw and previous HP printer laserjet that printed very well... and it was the printer port.

  Automatic installation, put in place a port USB001 wireless printer... the port should be Port TCP/IP Standard.  Once the port has been changed, all printed documents without fail.  (This will, we hope, also fix PCs disconnection from the WIFI when the printer goes to sleep). Printer port has been at the origin of the recent problems of printing with printer upgrades or changes to router and I should have changed it first, but I assumed that the Technical Support representatives two HP I knew on the phone knew better.

  Try the factory base reset of the control panel:

  You will need to translate Italian a little bit to do the job, but it shouldn't be too much words to translate.

  If this does not work, you need to consider raising the steps to cold/NVRAM reset the printer.  Reset at this level usually destroys the default language, but is not always necessary.

  Hi, we have a new printer HP LaserJetPro M201dw. We put up this morning, following the instructions as stated in the manual, but the printer keeps blinking and say "install the black print cartridge or clear jam."

  The printer has never been used, so there is no jams, and the ink cartridge was too brand new and a black cartridge HP official. The printer does nothing, it doesn't print, I can't do a cleaning page, it simply does not work.   You probably have a joint expedition on something.  It really is a common thing, now it's HP shipped toner in printers take the tray, toner, open everything. Tilt the machine upward, look inside, etc.  Use a flashlight if you have not entered of lights in the room.

  If it's blue or orange, a transport lock.  It could be as simple as a piece of tape, a plastic tie or a block of expanded polystyrene (white).

  Hi Tricia,

  Given that this does not work, please try this - a deep system reset.

  1. for a 2-line display - with the device off, simultaneously press and hold the [←] and [Cancel] buttons
  2. For touch screens - the unit is turned off, press and hold the lower left quadrant of the touchscreen (put the thumb on the lower left corner of the area lighter and hold it there until the PSI message (see below))
  3. Switch on the device.
  4. When you see the message "storage Permanent init", release the buttons or the pressure. When you reset the printer is finished, the unit returns to the ready state. -ask for language

  I was wondering if it is possible to choose the tray (as a source of paper) on the driver's side. So, you could load 2 types of paper in both trays and select the paper of your PC source.

  We have software in our company who print C5 envelopes and A4 documents, we are looking for a solution where we could support two types of media in the printer and print just (the software would choose the tray) without the need for users to approach the printer and insert the media into the priority tray when we need to print an envelope.

  The printer only include an additional priority tray, such cannot be used for a second tray...

  For a bin priority, as long as he have charged book it will be used by default and that cannot be changed.

  Select are there any limitations when you use ePrint? ePrint does not support printing duplex (print on both sides of the page).

  If they use an Eprint application, it can print duplex if the printer supports.

  I appreciate that you try to find the claim code for your HP LaserJet Pro M201dw. I can help you with that.

  Here's what we will do:

  1. Make sure that the printer is connected to your wireless network. Once this is done, we need IP Address.If of the printer you do not know the IP address of the printer and then on your PC click Start, devices and printers, and add printer. This window should show you the IP address of the printer.
  2. Type the IP address of the printer in the address bar of your web browser and press ENTER.
  3. Click the Web Services tab.
  4. If you see an option to delete Web Services, then click on that.
     Click on enable Web Services.

  This should force the printer print your claim code. If not then please let me know what happened following my directions and I will be able to help you further.

• Cannot print two-sided...

  I have a Mac Air 10.10 and just bought a pro M201dw HPlaserjet and me cannot get duplex printing to work for Word (2011.. Mac update) documents.  He worked for printing files PDF from Adobe.  It will not either duplex for email.  I called hp for help but without success.  Does not work when print from browsers either.  How can I get duplex printing to work without having to save each document to duplex printing to PDF first?

  Please specify.

  Try going to system preferences > Printers & Scanners and double click on the printer.

  Click settings and go to the Options tab, make sure the Duplex option unit is checked, then check for the difference.

  If it persists, can you see any information while hovering the printer name? to ensure that the brand alert indicates...
