• Reading CD/DVD and writing problems

  I tried the Microsoft fix for automatic in the event of a problem with my CD/DVD/R/RW.

The drive is not available to download on hp either. I don't know how to solve this problem. I also used the 982116 KB, but this info was not applicable.

  I need to install the CD for maxtor to be able to use my external hard drive to retrieve my photos and documents. I would like to watch movies, do my movies at home and burn discs again. Please help me!

  I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite M40X-126 with a super multi drive installed. I have a problem with writing to DVD-RAM. Sometimes, when I try to write data to a DVD-RAM disc, the DVD player makes a strange noise, as if the mechanic of material is blocked inside the car. The laptop will not write any data on him and he doesn't notch in this noise. And I can't open the drive, because it is blocked by the software. And windows is blocked as well, I can't do anything. The only thing I can do, is stopped the laptop by pressing the power on button a few seconds.

  I have the same drive, but it works without problem. I know that DVD-RAM media are expensive, but all I can suggest is you buy another provider and check if it will happen again.

  Maybe you bought a CD/DVD drive that is not compatible, and BIOS can not recognize this because of bad master/slave/c-salt settings.

  The settings for the desktop PC readers is editable using the jumper.
  The computer s portable slim CD/DVD discs online are controlled by the firmware and you cannot change these settings if you don t have the right firmware.

  So I think that you have to buy another compatible

  But please try this proposal;
  Sometimes, the Player cannot read the Middle due to the incorrect registry key.
  Remove the upper and lower filter filter in this key:

  I don't know why... I have burned 7 front DVD DL discs with no problems at all of RICOH and Verbatim brands (the + and - if it matters)

  I tried several burning like ImgBurn, Nero 9, Windows burner software... None of them worked... It fills just the cache... I hear a clicking sound and keep it for about 5 minutes... Then he comes up with the message "write error". Differs from one application to the other...

  Writing: CD / DVD only

  To be honest, I have not an answer to your problem, but one of my friends had a HP laptop, and in one night, it burned like about 10 DVD, a few days later, he tried to burn even more to discover that the drive has stopped burning DVDs, it can still be read but not burning.   I recently bought a Vostro 1000 with DVD +-option RW.  I can burn and read CDs fine, and I can read the DVD (such as the Installation diskettes) very well.  However, when I put a blank DVD + RW to copy files to my laptop... I can't open the DVD for writing.  When I drag the files in the folder window, I get an error as follows:

  "Windows has encountered a problem when trying to copy this file...". »

  On my computer, drive shows 0 bytes used and 0 bytes available.  I know that on some machines, I need to format or prepare a DVD for writing first.  If I need to do on my Vostro, how should I do that?  I can't find any utility which seems to make this feature.

  Your Satellite R10 is unknown to me. Anyway the same drive has Tecra A4 and it is certainly simple layer in the car with 8 x speed maximum burning to DVD-R / + R blank.

  Problem is that the specification says: 8 x maximum speed but not this maximum speed 8 x will be always available and that you can create all the DVD at maximum burning speed. In most cases the speed of combustion depends on different blank media. Try testing different media with few manufacturers. Also, try to find out if the new firmware update is available.

  Sorry, but I really don t have another idea.

  That's a LOT of information, but in our society informational it s good to have enough information as possible. ;)

  Regarding your problem:

  At a first take a can with compressed air and clean your system with it. Such compressed air is available in every electronics store/market/whatever.
  Be gently when driving this trough of air holes, because you can damage probably the fan during the appearance of blisters too long in this cooling system.
  The wind bit for example for 2 seconds. The other thing is, you should do a biosupdate because it will solve some problems of fan with this machine.
  I Don t know the real version, but it should be above version 1.70.

  The thing with your battery is fairly easy: just google and you will quickly find a part of the exchange for your battery.
