M602: M602 direct PDF prints garbage after firmware update

We have 18 laser printers HP in society.

I installed an update of the firmware on three devices M602, and now all the direct PDF files print square characters mixed with the correct charaters on our documents.  PDF files have embedded fonts.

The version of the firmware in the M602 is 2307851_000040 / 3.7.01 / 20160225

The same document printed to a P3010 prints correctly, with firmware 07.240.7 / 20151017

I would like to start working with HP for a fix of the M602 firmware.

Here's a small segment of the document print correctly before the update of the firmware:

After working hard through the chain of command, I have this escalation with HP and has recently received the new firmware that corrects this problem for one of our many printers with the problem.  This is excellent news.  Thanks HP!

  • HP laserjet 4100n - printing garbage after upgrade to Windows 8 and can not network

Hi everyone - I've recently upgraded to a new PC in Windows 8 and I have terrible problems with my printer HP Laserjet 4100, which worked perfectly before XP.

    Question n ° 1

I had to get a parallel/USB cable to connect the printer and you can see after downloading some drivers of my PC and I can print - but every now and then it prints garbage to half way through a document/print run.  Someone has experienced this problem and if so how to solve?

    2nd edition

At the time where the printer is a stand-alone but I want this printer to network, but no matter what I try I can't be seen.  I printed the configuration information and it shows me what I need, but I when I try to add it it just can not be detected.  What I am doing wrong?

I was able to add a Lexmark laser printer at the independent address and I've also linked it with no problems at all.

Any advice (as simple and in English) would be greatly appreciated.

Reset the cold of the printer. Turn the power off. Hold down the green button while turning on the printer up to cold appears in the window of the menu. Liberation and the printer will come on loan. Wait about 1 minute after a ready appears, and then print the config page again and see if the address has changed. Even if this is not the case, go to a prompt on the computer and see if you can ping the address.

  • HP LaserJet 4250: Brick HP LaserJet 4250 after firmware update failed. Compact Flash card recovery options?

While performing an update of firmware via FTP using cURL, the HP LaserJet 4250 I worked has frozen. I had no choice but to cycle the power and hope for the best, but unfortunately it was bricked. The screen no longer lights upward when turned on (although I can hear the internal working mechanisms which is a good sign).

While doing some research, I read it is possible to buy a 32 MB CompactFlash card with preloaded firmware (http://bit.ly/1BTZGCh), put the jumper pin on the logic board to boot from it and then re-flashing the firmware on the card. Looks like a foolproof solution, but I would like to save my company some money if possible.

I was wondering if it is possible to use a Type I, 128 MB Compact Flash card I have handy and load the firmware above myself using a USB Compact Flash card reader/writer. Judging by what I read on another post on the forum (http://bit.ly/1GR6nM7), it seems possible to use a Unix/Linux utility such as JJ to clone another job Compact Flash card with preloaded firmware. However, I don't have such a card to clone. What I have is another HP LaserJet 4250 in working condition.

So that raises the question, is it possible to insert my own blank Compact Flash card in a HP LaserJet 4250 work and copy the firmware the logic board to the map image by using the printer control panel? I guess it would be the only way, if necessary, to get the firmware on the card.

However, if she is not the only way, is there an easier way to get the firmware on the card? For example, can I just format the card in FAT32 and copy the file to the RFU firmware to it and start the printer from him? Or the use of HP does it's own file system that is not readable on a PC? Also, would it be possible to use dd and simply copy the RFU directly on the card device believed himself (no file system) and boot from that?

Sorry for the barrage of questions. I tried to find the answers to all these myself, but HP doesn't seem to provide a lot of detailed documentation on works of the firmware via Compact Flash process. I'd be very happy if someone with experience could provide the answers well! Thank you.

Looks like I'll be solving my own number here haha. So after bit peicing together information from different positions and some experiences, I managed to save my LaserJet bricks!

To fix a HP LaserJet 4250 bricks, two things are necessary: an of Type I CompactFlash card and other HP LaserJet 4250 work. It's a common printer, chances are you'll find another around the office.

Here are the steps to fix the printer:

    1. The card CompactFlash Slot 1 (bottom slot) on board the logical work printer. Instructions on how to do so are provided by HP here: http://bit.ly/1NNyIol
    2. (May be optional) Initialize (format) the CompactFlash card by following the instructions on page 327 of the repair of HP LaserJet 4250 (http://bit.ly/1D22T7R)

      (a) turn off the power to the printer.
      (b) turn on the power to the printer and then press and hold the MENU button when begins the memory count.
      (c) continue to hold the button down until all the lights on control panel three printer flashes once and then remain lit. It may take up to 10 seconds.
      (d) press the BACK ARROW button. The display should INITIALIZE the DISK.
      (e) press Select (mark). The printer initializes the hard drive and continues its power on sequence.

    3. Now that the CompactFlash card is formatted, it is time to copy the NAND of the printer to work on the CompactFlash card.

      (a) turn off the power to the printer.
      (b) turn on the power to the printer and then press and hold CANCEL when begins the memory count.

    (c) continue to hold the button down until all the lights on control panel three printer flashes once and then remain lit. It may take up to 10 seconds.
    (d) press the SELECT button (check mark).
    (e) press the MENU button.
    (f) use the arrow to scroll until you see COPY BOOTLOADER IN SLOT2.
    (g) press SELECT, and the cursor should get the word BOOTLOADER. Use the arrows to change this to NAND.
    (e) press SELECT, and the cursor should get the word SLOT2. Use the arrows to change this to SLOT1.
    (f) press SELECT. The copy process must begin, and the status will appear on the screen.
    (g) once the process is complete, turn the printer off and remove the CompactFlash card.
  • Now that we have a working NAND on the CompactFlash card, it's time to restore to our printer masoned. Perform the following steps on the printer of bricks.

    (a) turn off the power to the printer.
    (b) Insert the CompactFlash card into Slot 1.
    (c) set the jumper on the System Board on the arrow to start from the CompactFlash card.
    (d) turn on the power to the printer and then press and hold CANCEL when begins the memory count.
    (e) continue now the button until all the lights on control panel three printer flashes once and then remain lit. It may take up to 10 seconds.
    (f) press SELECT (checkmark).
    (g) press the MENU button.
    (h) use the arrow to scroll until you see COPY BOOTLOADER IN SLOT2.
    (i) press SELECT, and the cursor should get the word BOOTLOADER. Use the arrows to change this to SLOT1.
    (j) press SELECT, and the cursor should get the word SLOT2. Use the arrows to change this to NAND.
    (k) press SELECT. The copy process must begin, and the status will appear on the screen.
    (l) once the process is complete, turn off the printer, remove the CompactFlash card and reposition the jumper to the default position.
    (m) turn on the power to the printer. That's all! Everything should work normally again. No brick no more!

  • UPDATE (07/04/15): IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER HP LASERJET 4250

It turns out that you can just download the firmware on HP website and create an image of it bootable on a CompactFlash card. However, it is not as simple as just copying the firmware image. You should ignore the 633 first bytes of the file of the firmware (at least with the 08.260.1 version), then copy the rest on a CompactFlash card. You can accomplish this by running the following command on Mac OS X or Linux. Download and boot from a live CD of Linux like Ubuntu if necessary.

    DD if = lj4240_4250_4350fw_08.260.1.rfu ibs = 1 skip = 633 of = / dev/disk2

Replace "lj4240_4250_4350fw_08.260.1.rfu" with the name of the appropriate firmware file and ' / dev/disk2 ' with the appropriate device if necessary.

If you prefer, a bootable copy of the revision of the 08.260.1 firmware can be downloaded here: http://bit.ly/1FeF3YP

As you can see in the image below, when opened with a hex editor, image downloaded from HP firmware starts with 1 b 25 31 2d bytes... However, the printer does not include the first part of the file when you start, because there are instructions of PJL and not binary. Bootable image begins at 631 byte (277 hex) highlighted. It may be possible that this address may change in future versions of firmware or for different printers, so here's how to know where to start the startup code. The first occurrence of 00 00 04 24 bytes, is where that starts. In ASCII, it looks to "... $". In this sequence, the 00 first is the beginning of the startup code. Here's another picture, of what should look like a bootable firmware image.

Non-bootable firmware image, downloaded directly from HP

Bootable firmware image, extracted of HP download

For fun, I unpacked it some of the files included in the firmware image, and it turns out that tracks on the printer to LynxOS. Who would have thought?

  • OfficeJet Pro 8620e ADF jam error after firmware update

After you install the updated firmware from the touch screen of the printer, the printer restarts and now has an error that says "Original is caught in the ADF (ADF).  Open the cover of the ADF, remove and reload the original, then try again. »

I went through all the steps to clear a jam from the ADF, but the opinion is persistent.  It is not (and was not before the upgrade) in the ADF at all.  Since this coincided with the update of the firmware, my suspiscion is that the firmware has not installed properly or something.  What am I doing here?

This problem has been resolved using the printer instead of purchase and exchange for another.  I can hardly believe that the cables are working loose within two weeks, she was detained and then broke at the exact time that the firmware update has been completed.  In any case, the problem was solved by replacing the printer.  I don't have any feedback solutions until a month after I did.

  • OfficeJet 8600 (firmware CLP1CN1232AR) cannot connect to WiFi after firmware update

My printer recently auto-mis updated my HP Officejet 8600 it is firmware CLP1CN1232AR and after that, it is no longer able to connect to my router. I can connect to my old router R6300 with her, but not my new WNDR4700. Newspapers say he is rejected for wrong security. I can connect to the R6300 and then give him the exact specifications (WPA2 AES), but it still does not connect. I don't know why the WNDR4700 is no longer, but something has changed in the last firmware that make it miserable. Is it possible to downgrade the firmware? There is another difficulty to operate? Other people have trouble with the new firmware?

Posted my problem on another forum, thinking the new laptop caused the problem

Resolution is the same: restart the router!  So simple, but who wants to go up the road to the ' net?

I recently updated the firmware on the M551 dn 500 laserjet printer.  I installed the update of the firmware successfully, but I keep is printed with characters on the pages 'trash '.  He randomally prints this way and is not consistent.  I don't have that happen after the upgrade.

I updated the firmware twice in an attempt to erase mistakes without result.

I did the format clean and complete part and I still get the same errors that occur.

I tried the upgrade to the current pcl6 driver as well.

I use windows xp and older windows programs.  This happens in the office software and software autodesk as well.

I am ready to return to the previous update of the firmware if possible.  I had problems with this firmware update so (printer refuses to print after a period of time), but I'm ready to come back just so that I can keep the waste of paper.

  • SOLVED: Slow wireless internet passthrough after firmware update

If I first bought a Nighthawk in July 2014 and it was great for a while. Then in the notice happened a few months my streaming services are jumping and more than usual buffering (which was almost never with the Nighthawk).

I have a connection of 110Mbps (Comcast and through a SB6141 modem), but all of a sudden was only getting 10 Mbps (or less) passthrough on 5 G wireless band (at the beginning of the speed test would sometimes up to 50 Mbit/s, but on a few seconds would fall to nothing..)

Cable speeds were very good. Always 110Mbps +. Tried several different channels and factory reset the router, wireless speed was still slow. Connected to the Netgear website and submitted a support ticket within 2 hours they sent me with an RMA number and the next day a new unit has been FedEx would be for me. Support rep Tech says it's a problem of material known in some units... I was super impressed with the customer service, it was seriously a no replacement of hassles that took every 15 minutes of my time.

EXCEPT when I got the replacement router in the next few days, he had the SAME PROBLEM. As soon as the new router is on and I'm connected, I've upgraded to the latest version of the firmware, done a factory reset and down Speedtest. And I had the same problem: speed internet passthrough on all my wireless devices has been terrible. Less than 10 Mbps when I have a connection 110 + Mbps. (Wired speeds were great, it was not a problem of modem or provider).

Again contacted support and they asked me to download the latest firmware on laptop and upgrade the router manually, do a factory reset before and after the upgrade. They also told me to try to disable WMM (made no difference speed passthrough, but lower my laptop connection between 433Mbps to 54Mbps speed!).

I tried this... still slow passthough wireless speed.

The only thing that has changed since I first got a Nighthawk in July 2014 (and I've run speedtests then and had a speed 110 wireless + Mbit/s at the time), is that the firmware has updated several times... makes me think...

I downloaded the Netgear support the past 5 versions of the firmware for the Nighthawk. http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/product/R7000#sear...

I then manually downgraded the Nighthawk to each previous version (do a factory reset before and after each installation) and ran Speedtest every time. Once I have got down to the R7000 Version - V1.0.3.24_1.1.20 (released 12/02/14) and ran a Speedtest, the PROBLEM has BEEN RESOLVED. Speed wireless devices (laptop, HTC a M7 and iPad Air 2) were all back up to 110Mbps or more!

Hope this experience helps someone else... If your are affected by the passthrough slow internet speeds and it is not your connection speed (i.e. radio parasites) that is the question, there seems to be a serious problem with the latest latest versions of couple... Try downgrading to the R7000 firmware version - V1.0.3.24_1.1.20

UPDATE: Yes, I actually tested the speed with several different devices (a laptop HP HTC a M7 and Nexus 9) each on 5G band, all compatible with the latest updates ac. I also used a few test sites of different speed (speedtest.net, comcast speedtest, cnet speed test), not had the same result all devices and hosts.

However, I actually got in touch with Netgear L2 support for the last month... beta test a few different versions of the firmware of the Nighthawk and even spend more than an hour on the phone one night with a nice guy who told me he was on an island in Southeast Asia, part of the Philippines... This is where Netgear technical support is to halfway between China where they build them and Taiwan where engineers are. After trying all tweak he could think for an hour and not get better speeds wireless, he finally dropped out and wished me a Merry Christmas lol. Not one of these beta firmware made a bit of difference, and I hate the hours that they made me screwing around with them!

    BUT today, they released vR7000 - V1.0.4.14_1.1.50 http://support.netgear.com/product/r7000

And to my surprise it actually worked! Not only my high speed wireless is returned (120 + Mbps)

    http://www.Speedtest.NET/my-result/4078979293 (laptop)
    http://www.Speedtest.NET/my-result/a/1131321713 (nexus 9)
    http://www.Speedtest.NET/my-result/a/1131332778 (htc a m7)

but also my Seagate SRD0SD0 previously incompatible (3 TB) USB 3.0 external hard drive works now, too. What a bonus! The reason I bought the Nighthawk was to use as Server DLNA and the monster external HD I picked up 6 months ago only was on the long list of those incompatible with this capricious router.

But now everything works (at least for now).

P.S. Maybe it's in my head, but I swear to you that since the last firmware update when running speedtest now or file transfer (while heavy streaming) I can hear the router doing a greater slope electric buzzing/hissing noise is a little disconcerting... I'm not sure my brain fried by overclocked wifi will be worth a high speed in the end...: eek:

  • Sansa Fuze - insufficient volume after firmware update

After the latest firmware update to its maximum volume looks like a whisper. And the configuration of the System Volume option disappeared! Thought that this setting is set to Normal and should change at the top. But the Volume option no longer exists. I use the same set of headphones. Any ideas? Can I go back to the previous firmware? or should I get another MP3 player? Whenever I update the firmware, I have all sorts of problems! All the presets radio disappear as well! But the problem of volume is the most boring... Thank you all in advance.

Why throw the baby out with the bath water?  Let build .31 on the device and set your locale.  Choose reset to factory settings, choose in North America and your preferred language.  For Europe, you will need to do is choose "rest" for your steps of FM frequencies.

Note: You can leave the current version of the firmware installed on the device (build current est.31 ou.33 according to the revision of your device).  Once you select 'Yes' for the mask to reset factory settings, the unit will ask you your desired area.  For the EMEA region, do not forget to go to settings > Options Radio > region and select Europe for the stages of EU frequeqncy.

I just wanted you to save a lot of hassle!  Your volume option will be available again.

With regard to the volume, please use good judgment when you listen to your music.  Keep the volume at a reasonable level, because your audience in the long term is much more valuable than a little loud music.  If the device is for the kids, well, as a dad, I know how they are.  Perhaps the limited volume can be useful for once.  You can blame on the EU regulations.

  • WRT 160N V3 - signal drops after Firmware update

Hi I recently upgraded the firmware on my wrt 160N v3 and changed security WPA2 Personal wireless from WEP (I needed to do this to get the speeds of a purchased wireless adapter recently).  Now the router stops transmitting a signal intermittently for about a minute before returning to the line.  The time between drops is also not the same.  Before updating firmware (and change security settings), the router has been solid as a rock.  Any suggestions on how to fix or maybe where I can get the old firmware version (which seems to be more stable than the current version)? THX

You mentioned in your post that you updated the firmware. So, after firmware upgrade reset you the router? After the successful update, you need to reset the router. It is recommended to reset the router once. Steps to reset the router:

Press the reset button on the router for 30 seconds, turn off the router, wait 30 seconds and then turn it on. Power light should blink when you perform the reset process.

After reset, reconfigure the router, and then check the status of the connectivity.

If the issue still persist then yry the following parameters:

    # Open the browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 which will open the router configuration page.

    # Bring back the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) of 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on the main page / basic configuration of your router). Here is the link to determine and implement the right size MTU: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=fbf8e8564632422eaa8ea80bf9dcba64_386.xml&pid=80&re...

  • WRT54G v4 unusable web interface after firmware update

I tried to upgrade (actually downgrade) my WRT54G v4 firmware 4.30.11 to 4.21.1. When the progress bar reaches the mark to halfway, I got the message saying that the upgrade was successful. However, now the web interface is so messed up that it is unusable. It's a sign that something went wrong.

Power, WLAN, Ethernet 1, and Internet lights are all green solid, which should be a good sign. After the upgrade, the web interface says "WRT54G 4.21.1', which is the firmware messed up I am downloading. Browsers, then restart my computer, I have confirmed that it is a router problem, not a problem of the browser cache. I also tried to do a hard reset by pressing the reset for 30 seconds button, unplug the router while holding down the button of reset for 30 seconds and then plug the router while holding down the button of reset for another 30 seconds. This has not fixed anything.

I encountered a similar problem after an update of the firmware several years ago and the fix to upgrade the firmware using TFTP. This time, however, the TFTP utility could not download the firmware. Using a hack that I found on the internet, I have re - download the 4.21.1 firmware, but the web interface was always messed up. I then downloaded the 4.30.13 firmware. The web interface is still messed up, but then he said "WRT54GL 4.30.13. I then went to the firmware I wanted, WRT54G 4.21.1. The web interface is still screwed up, but said «WRT54G 4.21.1»

Anyone know how to solve the problem? Yet once, it took place immediately after a firmware update, the web interface is unusable, is not a problem of the browser cache and tried a hard reset.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

My router model is WRT54G v4. The v4 WRT54G and the WRT54GL are generally considered to be the same device with different model numbers. According to the article of Wikipedia WRT54G, "the WRT54GL is technically a reissue of the version 4 WRT54G."

I used the firmware 4.30.X for years without problems. However, I decided to switch to the 'right' firmware for my router and something went wrong during the upgrade.

I solved the problem. I basically just dropped the Linksys firmware and uploaded the DD open source-WRT firmware mini instead. Now everything works fine.
