m7680n Desktop 'dead' - revivable PSU by jumpering exploit?

My will is m7680n not turning on - dead - no clicks, lights, or whatever it is (except the small green led lit on the power supply).

Doing surgery with instructions of the internet will allow you green rider to the ground (from power supply), and carefully tamp 24pin to motherboard will start System (I hit it now).

What is the problem?  Front switch has mainly been ruled out.  Motherboard and the PSU (other?) have been proposed by others.

Is there a way to tell what is the problem?

Thank you very much.

Near the CMOS battery on almost all motherboards, there is a three-pin header that says CLR CMOS generally.

In the default position (jumper between pins 1-2 battery currently provides to the CMOS chip so it can keep the BIOS settings)

In the reset position (jumper pins 2-3) all the information are deleted, including the date and time. This information is generic to almost all motherboards

  • HP Compaq 8000 Elite power supply upgarde

I have a HP Compaq 8000 Elite 2010 and you must update the power to launch my new Radeon HD 6850 graphics card. After much research I found that this particular computer motherboard does not have a normal diet of 20 or 24 pins but use instead of 2 separate connections from 4 pins for power supply PWR and PWRCPU and a third cable that seems to me to be an ancient and obsolete 6-pin auxiliary power (http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#aux) for the PWRCMD supply Cable. I also found that all power is carried out through the motherboard for each piece of hardware in the computer and therefor, most likely has a limit for the maximum possible power supply. Y at - it sort of a power supply that will fit both into the slot in the power supply (which is not the standard size of power supply, but rather measures approximately 6 "x 5.75" x 3.75") and will also be able to connect to and sufficient power to the motherboard? Or am I stuck with an ugly 320W? Help, please!

    Maverickv2,

You will not be able to upgrade this power supply, model # 508154-001. It is not possible with these connectors. The most absurd part is that the material (disks) are actually powered off the coast of the motherboard. (As you said).

Here are the specifications of your Compaq Presario SR1909UK desktop and it is card mother A8M2N-(NodusM). There is a conflict in the two specifications for what CPU socket is actually used. The computer specifications claim a socket 939 CPU, while the motherboard plug State she has a socket AM2. You will need to examine your system to confirm what type of CPU and socket he did.

It can be difficult to locate a market after motherboard that will meet your needs as AM2 socket 939 about 5 years to 8 years and are several obsolete generation. Check e - Bay or similar in your area for a replacement card which meets you the specifications. • PSU blinking green after failure on HP Pavilion a6257c desktop computer

I don't like the sentence you guru with this stuff, but I'm stuck... As a reference, you helped me a few years ago and I have not forgotten. In any case, my flag above (POWER 250 watt PSU) ran along well without ever clogging until 3 days ago. A truck pulled a power pole half a mile away and we lost power in the House for about 4 hours. I have indeed had the computer is plugged into a GFI power strip. He has apparently not helped, because when I went to turn on the computer, I have nothing. No noise, no beeps, nothing. Quite dead with nothing more than a green light flashing on POWER supply. I've seen this on other machines and I heard of all the tips and tricks to get a solid green light again and then the computer turns on.  I followed the most logical edge by disconnecting the main to the mobo card, while the power supply is connected, the led lights in green, and I plug the mobo connector back in and I can start the machine and it works perfectly. In fact, it stops, lights and works perfectly, as long as I do not unplug the power cord from the wall outlet (or power strip GFI in this case) I tried both. If I cut the power to the computer in a way for more than a minute or two, and then the green light on the power supply will flash again when I plug again.  I worked on the computer for several hours last night and he ran like he used to run. I left it plugged in all night and the light was still green this morning. I disconnected the power cable and made a pot of coffee, come back, plugged in and got the 'flashing green' again. I'd rather have the computer 100% good and power on any circumstances are.   With all your expertise, can you guide me on this repair? I would be certainly grateful and thankful for any advice to give me. Thank you in advance.

P.S. I have tried the red switch at the rear of the PSU without effect on the symptoms above.

It was a pleasure to be able to help solve the problem.

  • HP Pavilion desktop computer - a 550-015: update map PSU and graphics

I currently have the HP Pavilion Desktop 550 015 which has a 180w PSU and a GTX 745.

I'm looking to upgrade to a power supply 450W and then later on the track upgrade the graphics card. I learned that some pre-built computers have a BIOS limitation, which may mean that it will not approve some GPU chipsets.

Is this the case with my PC?

Thank you for the additional information.

I see no reason why this power supply does not work for you.  I love Corsair products.  However, if I were you, I would buy a 500W power supply at least.  It will give extra power to the use of maximum power and won't cost much more if necessary.

  • HP Pavilion HPE 1090 t: could someone help me please... Desktop HP Pavilion HPE h8-1090 t CTO - PSU replacement/compatibiliy

I just bought a new power supply (Corsair CS650M) because someone has suggested that it would be a good replacement power supply for my HP model which is HP Pavilion HPE 1090 t.   I need to know if this Corsair works and is compatible with my system, because something is not working with him directly or I did something wrong.    This is my first install and when it comes to the ins and outs of power amplification entry & exit and amperages I get so confused about this stuff.   But I think I took all the pluged connection correctly, at least when I re-plugin my old PSU after the installation to fail, I had the PC working again, what made me give confidence that I did the Corsair install correctly.  But what happens is after the installation of the unit from Corsair and turn the system he clicked power off after about 10 seconds or more and then restarted after a few seconds, then stopped again and turns off after another 10 to 15 seconds, and nothing would come up on top of the screen no more.   The first time I did the research what PSU would be compatible, I was getting conflicting results with a few places on the net saying that the majority of the HP out there (excluding some models such as the slimline) could be replaced by different manufacturers and higher power PSU, while other places I looked different.   Even the person who recommended me this power supply said in his post that he installed a Corsair HX650 model in its HP PC, and it worked very well for him.  Now, after the failure of the installation for the next few days, I did a lot more research and when I went on the site of HP and looked up the specifications of the model my PC I noticed under the power supply section, he had a heading that says "must select one of the following options" (in fact most of the different sections shows that the title too) and then he showed only two options 460W and 600W.  Then he asked me if it's the only option I get with my model.  And then I looked at my model number HP on the HP PartSurfer and under the section of the PSU, it also registers only 460W and 600W.   So who is?   I have to stay with only these options two HP or can I get a power supply with a higher power a bit then 600W from a different manufacturer that is what I want.    If I can get something that is compatible other than the options listed HP please let me know, or if this Corsair should work someone please let me know.   I need to return it otherwise.    My specs are below.

Although there is a limit to the amount of power that is needed to power your computer, it uses only the amount of power it takes to power the computer correctly.  The extra power is kept in reserve for the purposes of art.  Thus, you cannot really bad the computer with extra power or amperage.  You can sleep on this point.

    Indianaak wrote:

Thank you very much for your quick response, I wasn't getting anyone to answer the previous post.

If your saying these HP spare parts are not exclusive to the company?  Some connectors may be owners, but most are not.

It should work then?  Yes.  I've recommended hundreds of the PSU in the years I've been helping on the Forums; in fact since about 2002.

How about the input/output & amperages of note that I registered?  As I understand not all this jargon, I want to assure you that I have / using correct notation for my system.  I don't want to fry one of my compondents with to much amperage.   Well, either I did something wrong installing or this power supply is a dud then.  Read my explanation at the top of the page.

As I said before I pretty sure I had all the right connections, what can you tell me if it sounds right for you.  I have pluged in both connectors wired on the motherboard which were the main ATX 24pin power connector and the EPS/ATX12V 8 pin which I shared and pluged a piece of the cable labeled 'CPU' in slot 4 pins on the montherboard labeled ATX CPU.  Regarding the other split 4 pads, I don't see anywhere, it could be pluged into the motherboard.  If two 4-pin connectors were even marked, it should be good.  However, you can try to plug the other 4 pin instead of this, just to make sure that the right pair is connected to the processor power.

My AMD Radeon HD 6570 1 GB graphics card is the type that is fed through the MB so I didn't use any of the PCI-E cables 6-8 poles.  It is very good.

And so the only thing I had left that I have pluged the compondents of Sata cables that was my Bluray burner, my 2 TB hard drive and my USB 3.0 card.  They are very frank.

Yet once again being installation of hardware in my system let me ask hopefully not a stupid question, but when you connect compondents Sata cable, you must have the plug-in in a particular order of wiring compondent or how do you?  I don't check the specifications of your power supply, but I think most of them have a single 12V rail.  If this is the case, you don't have to connect them to any order.  If there are two rails, it is best to divide the power of each rail.

On my old PSU, it has an extension cable SATA used to connent card USB 3.0 which is pretty tightly squeezed between graphics card and sound card, so I guess I could use the extension cable with the new PSU POWER Sata wiring without any compatibility also publishes, right?  This should be no problem I can think of at this point.

Thanks again for your help, I'll probably will try and plug it once more and see if I can make it work.  If this does not work for now, I strongly suggest that you contact Technical Support of Corsair for help.  They are the experts on their products and grab any errors that we do.  It is very difficult to diagnose a problem by far.  When you have done with this project, you will no longer be the excuss you are a novice. You will have a lot of knowledge that you did not when you started.

  • Pavilion slimline s5-1554: s5-1554 Dead - PSU?

Computer was found dead.  I tried to start button, no response.  Follow-up of hp, troubleshooting guide: power green light continued and when trombone placed at terminals p1-17 and the ground, power supply fan came.  However, when reconnected and push the button start absolutely nothing happens.  Once fans started to turn for about a second, but stopped.  Troubleshooting Guide says if the power supply fan turns on when connected to the p1-17 mass, food should be good and should then consider the motherboard, memory, other causes.  However, I am skeptical.  My stomach has always said it is feeding.

I have an old computer that died, but has a good diet that would not be good, he would work to connect to see if it lights just like a test?  Other thoughts before you start exchanging parts as a diagnosis?

    Grumpy44, welcome to the forum.

I agree with you that it could be the power supply.  I've heard the PSU works using the paper clip, but still not be good enough to run the computer.  If you try to use your old PSU brand sure the power connector ATX is correct.

I bought Photoshop CS5 last year a few months before my computer 'death inevitably' on me. The store of the local computer could not solve it so I bought a new PC desktop to them. Under the agreement, they have installed all my programs from my records and I used it successfully since.

I now have new laptop that I want to use a holiday of photography. I can load CS5 on that too? I understand there are 2 licenses but one can always allocated to the PC "dead." How do I know if this is the case and get it transferred to my new laptop?

Just try to install CS5 on the new laptop computer.
