Mac Mini - Finder does not open

I have a Mac Mini with os x 10.10 2014.  The boot disk was almost full and the finder does not open.  I open the iPhoto and deleted the pictures and then empty the trash in iPhoto.  By logging in as a different user, I see I have ~ 1 GB of space, but when I log on my main account and admin the finder does not always open.

I read that it was a known issue:

http://forums.MacRumors.com/threads/Finder-doesn.

It is said to remove the .plist files, but I can't get to Terminal to do.

Please advise, thank you!

Edmund

If you were able to connect as another user, the issue is not lack of storage - this is the same computer.

Yes, your .plist file may be corrupt, or you could have an extension conflict that affects only your user account.

Try the start mode by holding down the SHIFT key at startup. Secure boot is quite slow because the operating system does a lot of cleanup and verification tasks, so give it time. Once you're completely connected, restart normally.

  • Mac Mini blocked, does not respond to the keyboard

So, we have a mac mini since 2006. Since 2007, he has 24 hours a day.

Now it has crashed, and while restarting it seems to be stuck at the gray screen with the apple logo.

The circle under it is moving, it seems that it is still starting.

I tried all kinds of different key combi any reboots, but nothing seems to work. Even the light caps lock does not work on the keyboard.

Have you tried to dismantle the mini and put back together. No luck.

Can someone tell me what is happening? Would appreciate your help!

Best guess would be a failing hard drive. You can try to boot from the original CD/DVD comes with your Mac or DVD for an improved version of OS X, run disk utility to repair the internal disk partition.

Note: It is advisable to restart your Mac on a regular basis as opposed to she works 24 hours a day for 8 years.

It also helps to provide as much information as possible on your Mac. There are 4 different models MacMini that can be described as of 2006, and you do not identify the version of your OS X.

  • Finder does not open

Any ideas how to get my Finder to open it. I shut down the computer for a while, then at his inauguration Finder is inadmissible.

I open a new message in Mail and click on it to attach it and he knocked down, but other that I can't ' search and I can't access - or eject - an external device that is in the USB port.

    Hello CLEVR.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I understand that Finder becomes unresponsive when you start your computer.  First of all, if you have not connected external devices, disconnect them so that your computer is turned off.  Then, please start your computer in safe mode and try again.

    1. Choose the Apple menu > shut down.

    2. After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

    3. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.

You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.

    4. Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

To exit safe mode, restart your Mac, but no press during the startup.

Having had an online chat with Adobe, they have taken control of my mac and came to the conclusion that it was a permissions problem. They advised me to repair permissions with disk utility. I did and it did not work.

They also advised me to create another administrator user account, it worked, however it is not convenient switch to another user account.

In the end I did some research and found this solution.

If you right-click the hard drive icon, info, unlock the padlock at the bottom and give full read & write to (your username (me)) it will ask you if you want to apply to all the files, I said yes.

It took a few minutes to complete and then voila, I could open up, no problem.

    I hope this helps.

  • Mac Cmd click does not open in background tab.

This isn't the case for all websites well. I noticed this on Tumblr and Gmail. I tried safe mode, but same problem persists.
However the right and selecting "Open link in a new tab" always open in the background.

If you mean messages listed in the Gmail inbox, those are links film scripts, not normal. I looked at it a few months before; does this help: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1061460#answer-726992

Which may or may not help with Tumblr, I have not tested myself.

Messages not himself. All < a > links. Definition however loadDivertedInBackground solve my problem. But this should be the default I think. I am pressing Cmd to express my intention that this link should be loaded in the background. For some reason any product Firefox chose this hide behind loadDivertedInBackground setting. Not cool.

  • Hello! I am doing an application online on my Mac, and it does not open... What can I do?

Mac can be used for this?

Is the online application a pdf file? If so, you may want to save the PDF on your computer first. The best way to proceed is to click on the link to the file and choose to save it (do not try and open the link in your browser). After that, you should be able to open in the drive and fill it (assuming it's a pdf file that you want to fill, but that's another issue).

  • Change of privilege HD now Mac Mail does not open

    Couple of questions, self-inflicted:

I changed the privilege HD read-only for everyone no access and then click on "apply to the included items. I released on bail after a few minutes, change my mind with a reboot. I now get the re-boot, the pop-up "library should be rebuilt to open applications. I keep having to enter my PW for this.

In addition, Mac Mail now does not open. It is a big problem and I don't know where to start.

I repair permissions. Is there an easy way to return to the previous default permissions and privilege by default to make things work as they were before?

Can you make a different Get Info and change everyone else read-only?

First try and see if that fixes the Mail. If this is not the case, here are a few ideas more troubleshooting.

    Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • Replacement of Firefox 3.6.16 containing my history, bookmarks etc to version 4.0, I find that it does not open on my Mac Power PC G4 OS 10.4.11. It's a compatibility problem, and how to retrieve version 3.6 with my favorites etc.

Replacement of Firefox 3.6.16 containing my history, bookmarks etc to version 4.0, I find that it does not open on my Mac Power PC G4 OS 10.4.11. Is there is a compatibility issue and how to retrieve version 3.6 with my favorites etc.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third part of Firefox 4 version that works under OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details, see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

When you install one of the above it will use your existing bookmarks, etc.

  • Firefox does not open on a new Mac OS - profile cannot be found

I got a new Mac and have not been able to open FF. I just got this message: "unable to load your firefox profile. It may be missing or inaccessible.

I followed all the advice available. I have no profile manager. I have no folder in my library, utilities, Applications or users with a profile.ini I can't find folders or documents anywhere with Firefox or Mozilla other than the app itself... which does not open.

I deleted Firefox to my computer entirely, reinstalled, rebooted the computer - everything. I always get this message.

    Would appreciate some advice.

It is clear that there is a problem with the permissions, then you will need to check and possibly fix corrupted files permissions to the location where the main Firefox profile folder and where are stored the file cache.

    • < User > /users//Library/Application Support / Firefox/Profiles/< profile >.
    • /Users/ < user >/Library/Caches / Firefox/Profiles/< profile > / Cache
  • I reinstall CS4 after failure of hard drive and everything works except Acrobat 9 Pro. I'm under El Capitan on MacbookPro. I reinstalled Acrobat but when I open I only get Word to Acrobat in the finder without options and it does not open.

I reinstall the CS4 Master Collection after failure of the card logical and all work EXCEPT Acrobat 9 Pro. I'm under El Capitan on a Macbook Pro. The program worked with El Capitan until the logic board failure - I use it every day.  I reinstalled the entire Collection, but when I open I get that Word to Acrobat in the finder without other menus - the application does not open. As a first step, I get an error message.

Acrobat has detected there are missing components

    Adobe Pdf Finder

    Adobe PDF Viewer plug.

I tried to uncheck the boxes, but no difference.

How can I get an operational program again? If Acrobat Pro 9 is no longer supported, how to get a version supported by software that works on my computer?

    Thank you.

Thanks for the explanation. I actually have to install Acrobat and it now works. I downloaded and installed Adobe Reader XI (I think, http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/11.x/11.0.02/en_US/AdbeRdr11002_en_US.dmg ) and opened the program. I noticed that after I opened the new drive, my Adobe Reader 9 program began to work. After that, I tried to open Acrobat and instead of getting the error 6 message that I had before, I had an error on a question of license that would require me to uninstall and reinstall the software. Once I did these steps my Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro started working! Don't know why my program, but it is fully functional again. I hope it helps someone else, I have why I came to answer.
