Mac Pro - Adding third monitor

Hi all

I currently have these two monitors running from my Mac Pro (early 2009 model), both outputs standards, including the mini display port:

Acer P223W (1680 x 1050, input VGA)

AOC 2250W (1920 x 1080, D - SUB and VGA inputs)

I recently inherited this monitor:

SONY SDM-E96D (1280 x 1024, DVI - D and HD15 inputs)

What is the way more economic (and simplest) to get a Setup three monitor?

I use it for music production with logic X, games etc. Third monitor will not be used a lot, so don't want to spend more than necessary.

Thanks in advance, all very appreciated recommendations.

Jamie

    • Support for digital resolutions up to 2560 x 1600 pixels
    • Support of analog resolution up to 2048 x 1536 pixels
    • Video cards available for:

      • Additional dual-link DVI, output Mini DisplayPort to DVI dual link (optional)

  • Unable to connect more then 2 monitors for Mac Pro end of 2013

I was wondering if anyone had this problem and found a solution.

The Mac pro (end 2013) model that I have would not work with 3 or more screens, little matter what I do. Even if him are all connected to separate buses. Only 2 would work at any given time. When I cut the work one, one nonfunctional lights.

    They are related:

    Computer-> Thunderbolt to HDMI-> monitor

    Computer-> Thunderbolt to HDMI-> monitor

    Computer-> monitor-> HDMI/DVI

Setting up and connecting cable is not a problem here, because I tried a lot of different ways to connect with different types of monitors.

Just replaced a new video card and the problem still there.

    am I missing, or hurt?

    any idea is aprisiated!

Mac is unable to produce interfaces to more than two screens "legacy" levels of tension necessary to keep them from dropping out. You need an ACTIVE adapter for some of these screen to run more than two (including the interface HDMI built-in, that counts as if connect you something). poster "legacy" is other than DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort

Adapters ASSETS have re-drivers of signal in them, that's why they are more expensive. As long as you stay under 1920 wide, you don't ask the very expensive adapter Apple DVI Dual-Link, $ 100.

  • My mac pro end 2013 connecto to 3rd monitor used

I just got a couple of monitors Samsung 4 K and I connected to my Mac Pro model 2013 end that has two graphics cards AMD over-pants D700. I also want to plug a 4 K TV to my installation in order to show the greatest screen previews for customers. I've separated the connections of each monitor in the ports of different buses, as shown in the Apple Web site. Both screens are connected via thunderbolt and the TV is connected via HDMI. The problem is when I plug the TV one of the monitors completely loses the signal. I tried to swap the connections of ports between the two monitors and the TV but the result is the same, the computer will only send the signals of two of the three connected. I would be grateful someone knows how to fix this problem, thanks.

You said: "the two screens are connected via thunderbolt and the TV is connected via HDMI.".

You say you have two screens Thunderbolt?

If this isn't the case, which is entered on the monitors?

If this isn't the case, entered ui displayport/mini displayport may be both legacy connections (DVI or HDMI). For more than two, you need an adopter active.

Each device is connected to another bus Thunderbolt?

  • Mac Pro: 5 Monitor Configuration help

    Hey guys!

I have been working on a fairly massive project and am in need of some specific knowledge, Mac Pro, I did not.

We will use the end 2013 Mac Pro as our work computer to bid on multiple auctions on multiple screens simultaneously. To illustrate the concept:

    * Forgive my skills as God art *.

The problem we run into is wiring all 5 screens for the Mac Pro. Poster 2-5 have only the HDMI and VGA inputs. We are in need of the best possible quality who can offer screens of theses, my idea was just to pick up MiniDisplay 4 HDMI adapters to connect to the wall mounted monitors and use a Thunderbolt cable to connect the Thunderbolt Display. However, I have been informed and influenced in the delicate on the Mac Pro website formulation in the belief that the end of 2013 Mac Pro can handle 2 HDMI monitors.

I would like to know your opinion on using MiniDisplay 4 HDMI adapters or not will work. And if no, what is the way to achieve the best quality on the whole upward.

I thank very you much for your time and help!

    -Austin

The 2013 MP can handle two monitors inherited (HDMI and DVI) with the cheaper passive miniDP > HDMI or DVI adapter. For more than two adopters must be active adapters.

    All adopters VGA are active.

This is an active NPD > adopting HDMI

  • How can I restore signal from my Mac Pro to my Viewsonic monitor, connected by VGA?

I have a Pro Mac OSX version 10.7.5 running. Trendy top is a monitor 24 inch Viewsonic, the only monitor connected. Last week, everything was fine. I stopped him all night and the next morning, when I tried to start, there was no signal from the Mac to the screen.

The screen displays a 'No Signal' message.

I checked the entry on the monitor, and it is correctly set to PC.

The computer starts normally. I can hear him do his thing.

The monitor starts up normally. No flashing or spots.

I tried restart, disconnect the monitor from the computer, just stop and unplug it, then reconnected. I tried to plug the old monitor (using VGA connection) and start again, with the same result.

I tried to recall the NVRAM (found the instructions on this site) and it made no difference.

It would be appropriate to get a HDMI cable to connect the?

It seems to me that if the computer does not recognize the monitor, try another cable wouldn't make any difference, but I'm really an 'end user' at this stage and would appreciate any advice.

    Thank you!

  • Can I use my 5K iMac as a monitor for the Mac Pro?

I'm so curious because I really need speed for Final Cut, but for the Mac Pro, you must separately buy things (monitors, keyboards, mouse). For the iMac, it is included, but he really loves * that the Mac Pro has this old crush which is very pixelated to 82ppi, compared to the iMac not expensive 21.5 "without Retina display, it is equal to 102ppi. My iMac 27 "is 5K also, and the iMac is 218ppi. I want a high resolution to get the best view possible, but I can't in the Mac Pro. I would like also to the screen have a built-in webcam and speakers similarly.

Only through the screen which two computers sharing work normally.

  • How to properly plug (3) 4 k monitors on my mac pro?

I have ASUS (2) 4 k work monitors and a Samsung 48 "4 k monitor TV/Client UHD to go with my end of 2013 Mac Pro w / AMD over-pants D700 6144 MB graphics card upgrade.  According to the website of Apple AND Mac Melrose (I bought from the dealer) easily, you should be able to run (3) 4 k monitors - this, however, is NOT the case.  When I simply followed the instructions from apple won't even read the system a 3rd monitor - not even a 1080-even following the instructions DO NOT connect on the same bus.  The only ways that I could get a 3rd screen if even displays are making it work with an active Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI (Thunderbolt simultaneous usb AND connectors), which requires also a HDMI to DVI first, and then the resolution is only 1080.   The only other way that I could get a 3rd monitor seem even is by work through airplay - obviously the latency and loss of quality through this method is not ideal either.

I was on the phone with Apple AND Mac Melrose Tech technicians, and nobody has any idea.  Y at - there someone here who can help me with this problem please?

Your Mac can run six monitors at once, if they are all Mini DisplayPort.

Other interfaces are referred to as "Legacy", and it can only lead to more than TWO of those without having to use ASSETS converters who have re-drivers of signal in them.

    You can not "stack" adapters.

To debug, reduce to two screens and you'll usually be able to get every one.
