Mac pro chassis/body

Hi all, someone could tell me what cases/chassis are compatible with a mac pro Desktop 5.1 2010. I am after a substitute for this case and do not know if all chassis are identical. see you soon

The Mac Pro 4.1 5.1 of aluminum, 2009, 2010 or 2010 boxes are identical or almost.

Older models 2.1 1.1 and 3.1 from 2006 to 2008 are different on the inside.

the similar PowerMac 5G is completely different on the inside.

  • Mac Pro with SSD and body Doggie interim

Not 'good dog' is! I think that I blew it away by putting EVERYTHING on the SSD - multimedia, scratch files, application, everything. I kinda figured that, since it is SSD, it would be faster to put all my media on my "Black Caviar" WD internal drive (which I always did in the past). It's the first time I tried it on the SSD, and the TL has acted very (excuse)... Doggie me. The SSD is my startup and now, the media, asking too much. It is 960 gigs, and the Mac Pro runs 10.8.5, 12 GB ram. Built in ' 09, not terribly new. So, should I just go back to place my multimedia elements on the Caviar? BTW, it's only the TL that gets the Doggy, the program seems very well by other means. Room 10 minutes, multiple clips and effects...

You broke all the rules of due to the distribution of the NLE data... disks and separate from the operating system... so that's what's happening.

  • Upgrade Mac Pro 2006 to 2008 by replacing the Logicboard

I'm trying to make the best use of a MacPro 2006 my home late and need a better CPU and PCI-E bus.

    Someone has updated a MacPro 1.1 (2006) to a MacPro 3,1 (2008)?

From what I understand, the basic material is the same, except logical Board, sinks of heat installation of memory and CPU cards. Everything else, like the PSU cage, chassis and memory and the fans seem to be identical. Can anyone confirm this?

    Thank you.

It will be cheaper and much easier to buy a used Mac Pro set and sell your existing one.

  • Mac benchmarks: iMac vs old Mac Pro towers

I had a great discussion in a PPro Facebook group about new editing systems; I have a limited budget for 3 new Macs in our society and I feel confident about the purchase of a new Mac Pro (for the Organization, AE, color correction and finishing work) and 2 iMacs with Thunderbolt RAIDs (just for editing with the body).

However, I am curious: when I look at the scores of Geekbench for the latest Mac models there are old Mac Pro (2009-2013) which seem to surpass the latest performance multicore 64-bit iMac. Core performance has the iMac coming out on top (I'm only in the retina 27 ", not the new model 5K). So who is more indicative of the performance when editing with Premiere Pro? I've heard publishers who say that their new iMacs circles run around the older towers, they replaced so I tend to believe that a new iMac feel faster than even the last money Mac Pro Tower (2012); but a beast of 12 strands with a beefy GPU has got to be a serious contender when it comes to tasks of intense multiprocessing.

I know that it is many of the factors which together determine 'speed' (GPU, RAM, storage), so it will not always be a simple comparison of 1:1 with these models. I want to just make sure that I'm investing in material adequate and very curious about how these points of reference will result in Premiere Pro performance in the real world.

    TIA,

    JVK

The reason for that many saw operation faster than the Imac their Mac Pro tower to with faster clock speed on the CPU Quad Core desktop that was I7 Gen 4 Haswell versus more slow I7 Gen 1 Xeons in the old Mac Pro towers. The nMPro have the IVY E Xeons, which helped significantly, but video cards are AMD who don't perform nearly as well as Nvidia cards with Adobe's GPU acceleration. Until the new 5 K of the Imac have Nvidia GPU, providing a much better performance with Adobe that AMD cards. That's why many saw better performance on those against the nMPro. Essentially, the system must be enough cores/threads to decode/encode ideally codecs and then GHz has more effect than the hearts and son regarding GPU acceleration. More complex projects, that is to say layers and FX nuclei more desired. AE is mainly all the CPU and ram, if you really want more cores/threads and ram with who. IMac isn't good AE systems. So far your plan is solid for a Mac programming since the new imac 5K is really nothing more than a brilliant with a new display card unhappy AMD. Just keep in the mind the Imac are portable glorified. They have a desktop CPU in them, but the rest is really mainly portable equipment which means lower performance. 4K workflow will be limited on those if you get outside Pro Res.

  • Vs CPU Ram graphic card upgrade for Mac pro performance?

Just after the crossroads to aboard the cloud to Adobe and seeks help on CPU Ram vs graphics card GPU.

    Material:

    • MAC Pro (early 2009) 4.1 2.26 Ghzdual core 8, 23 grams (5 x 4 g sticks and sticks of 3 x 1 G), 4 x 1 TB 7200 RPM int. HD (1 scratch drive), (no windows don't things here)
    • Graphics card Ge Force GT120 Machine has 64-bit capability, but normally starts in 32- bit due to old still used 32-bit apps.
    • Watch CS6 AE activity monitor uses all 16 son, works in 64 bitsand seizes about 10 Gig of ram to operate in.

    Software:

    • Running OS x 10.6.8. (Snow leopard) with all updates.
    • All major video applications: creative cloud (also have studio FCP 3 installed but just move to Adobe now on video works)

I really like this AE & body use all threads, made in the background (which results in NO crashes (so far)) because my old 120 GT video card apparently is more stifling that it worked in FX in FCP 7 & 4 Motion.

    1. Q - can someone point me in the direction of how Adobe got the device to use all the cores and threads and run it in 64-bit, but starts in 32 bit?

In terms of performance, (rendered in particular) I know I should go to the Apple/ATI 5870 graphics card, but as a veterinarian of fixed-income securities disabled, $450 is hard to find. I evaluated cards flashes, including those of macvidcards on ebay, but for used cards which are flashed, it gives me pause, especially when they are about the same price as the new price of 5870.

So I am struggling with trying to figure out that the best shot for the less $$$, where the issue of the title.

    1. Is it more effective for video FX works to add CPU ram or (gulp) to upgrade the video card to 5870 card?

Example: I can add sticks of 3 x 4 G in place and place existing 3 x 1 G sticks of ram for less than $200 CPU. A new 5870 card is $ 450 Apple. Approach that annoys me that most make speed plant put VFX work in AE CS6 or P Pro CS6?

Sorry, I'm more than a little fuzzy on this, but hoping a kind soul will lead the way.

    Ken

For After Effects, more RAM is better. For Premiere Pro, an improved GPU is more important. In addition, you might consider spending money even on an SSD, which is beneficial for both (for caches).

  • Mac Pro and Pro first: CUDA Will help me?

    Hey people.

I am a complete and utter novice regarding the technology offered by Adobe with respect to video editing.  I'm not a pro by any stretch, I just sort of found that my editing of video and wants needs are not met by the video software 'House '.  I have so far using Apple Final Cut Express to do my job, but I'm looking to move to 64-bit edition so that I can better use the RAM in my Mac Pro.  I tried to make Final Cut Pro X works for me, but there were some features I used in FCE are not available in the Pro version.

Made me try the Premier Pro.  I play with the trial for 30 days now, and I like what I see.  "It's a little expensive, but I can eat without problem.  I have a question: for what little I do, CUDA will actually help?  My workflow goes something like this:

    1. Import AVCHD from my Sony camera
    2. Import a file from my portable recorder WAV
    3. Merge/sync audio and video up to
    4. The foreign cut off the beginning and end of the video
    5. Exporting to h.264/MP4

I do that 4 times after a run monitoring session (in car video track).  Anything that would prevent me from working bugs the snot out of me.  It seems if I order correctly work with Premier Pro, I can stop the software to render anything until it is actually a time for export.  And given that the body comes with the media conversion software that takes care of the export, lines to the top of my video existing while I start working on the next is perfectly feasible.

    I like it.

Now... with this list above, CUDA will help at all?  I see that with the Mac Pro, the only card nVidia (reasonable price) supported is the older GTX285.  I can always find those on EBay, but... is it worth it?

    Thoughts?  Thank you!

    JAS

It's not like you're going to do anything that will benefit treatment CUDA.

  • Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro - does not fit into my Mac Pro.

I just bought a Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro Plus (the same, physically, like the Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro)

I can't even came close it enter my Mac Pro end 2012. On the back of the bumps in the fan card, even with the fan cover pulled back.   This isn't a case to remove the lower lip, which obviously I do, I can't do it AT all, not even at an angle.

I called Sonnet, but incredibly the tech said that it must adapt.

It seems that I have only 2 choices: unscrew the fan and moving it more far forward of the mac (somehow) to cut about 1/2 "on the back of the Sonnet card.  The latter would obviously kill my warranty, and I don't even know if the bloody thing still works.

To my amazement, I find nothing about it online.  It's like the Twilight Zone.

Any ideas?  Someone knows has a video that shows a successful installation?

  • More high graphics card Possible for early 2009 Mac Pro

As the title suggests, I have an early 2009 Mac Pro with 12 GB of RAM.

I want to update my graphics card to something better and I have no idea of what I put in the card. Ideally, I would like to put the last possible graphics card that is compatible for this.

I don't know what I would look for PCI or PCI - e and what diet I would look for that would support such a computer "arcane".

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Best wishes

    Sergio

the 2009 mac 4.1 pro can be upgraded to a number of current spare cards from Nvidia and AMD, but in many cases the cards require custom flashing of the Distributor and custom drivers. You need to buy a card with a distributor of mac because versions "Windows" of these cards will not work out of the box and OS X will not support without 3rd party drivers. This procedure is not recommended by apple that would rather you buy a new mac pro and again I want to say something for $5K, which offers the latest GPU is already 3 years old.

research on the Web "Mac Pro 4.1 GPU" for more details.

It is better to play with?

    Thanks for your suggestions?

'Later' a few days ago is 10.12 Sierra and that Mac is not supported under Sierra.

10.11 El Capitan is always available for download (but deliberately difficult to download 'accidentally'). Any downloadable Mac OS requires you to have 10.6.8 in place first, because this is the version with a stable Mac App Store.

In an emergency, ask the dealer if they have a "Full Retail" 10.6.8 Snow Leopard DVD they could give you, or buy it for $ 20 on the Apple store online. Gray discs only work for the exact model, they are made for, so a gray disk for an iMac will not start and will not be installed.

"What graphics card" is motivated by what you plan to do with it. Mac-specific firmware a graphics card is necessary for a photo before the login screen. GT120 Mac firmware card is very affordable, but it's not bad a card if you plan on editing video and other.

To run El Capitan, there must be a minimum of 4 GB of RAM, and more is better. Your Mac uses DIMM modules in pairs in adjacent locations, and if you fill out accidentally all the slots, memory in double width for an increase in the speed of 17 percent.

  • Using SDS Macbook Pro under Mac Pro

I recently installed a new OS (Yosemite) and several audio programs / music I use in my studio on a new SSD in my laptop - Macbook Pro - I'm not sure I'll keep.

I have a Mac Pro 2012 Tower.  Can use the SSD of the Macbook Pro (or a clone of it) in the Mac Pro saves a lot of installation time and download of updates for all my audio programs?

I searched a few days if an SSD (or clone) of a Macbook can be used in a Mac Pro Tower.

Thanks in advance for your kind answers.

Yes, it will work in the Mac Pro Tower-silver. To use it you need to an adoptive parent or a sled like this

  • No sound optical input on Mac Pro

I'm working on some problems with my optical sound system, and I have a recorder DAT Sony outlet in my Mac Pro, Late 2010 5.1 Sierra running. I bring the signal of the DAT, via an optical cable in the Mac - I get a visual cue on the sound preferences - but not his actual computer, any output, I try: internal spkrs, Line out, Digital out, bar his monitor, or Bluetooth headset. That is what it is? I trashed preferences sound and zap the PRAM. No change.

Hmm... It is of course odd. If you hold down the option key and click on the speaker at the top of the screen icon, you should see a list of all the available audio inputs and outputs, you can also find it under system preferences > sound

other this, try to pull the Audio high noon and see what she has set, sometimes, strangely enough, IT Gets the value to something weird like 96 khz or line output, or some of these.  except that, depending on the application you are using, you may need to edit the record source and to ensure that play through is committed. your device should appear if all goes well. I think it must be configured as 44 kHz or 48 khz
