MacBook keeps ejecting blank DVDs

One day my MacBook was able to burn DVDs, and then the next day he couldn't.

Now when I insert a blank DVD, a message "waiting for the writer" appears before the DVD appears again.

MacBook will now play discs, but not write.

Any thoughts?

Settings and different lasers are used to burn. Have you tried the Superdrive with lens cleaner that uses a small cleaning brushes?

  • HP Envy: compatible blank DVDs

What high blank DVDs that are re-writeable storage capacity are compatible with the hp DVD A DH16AFSH DVD RW in my PC HP Envy # 700-406 model, product # J4W42AA #ABA? I need to copy / back up between a few hundred to several hundred concerts of files and folders on a secondary backup in addition to my external hard drive.

    Hello

Compatibility with the media is generally a function of optical drive firmware.  If you are going to copy several hundred GB of files, then it will take a looooooooog time and a lot of disks.  If you had to say 800 GB of files to a standard 4.7 GB optical support, then do the math.  You might need close to 160 optical discs.

You can use Imgburn to determine the capabilities of the optical drive for media types.

I have an HP internal optical drive (not the same as yours) and I used the below listed optical media with a high success rate.

    Verbatim 8 x DVD + RW 4.7 GB rewritable

In extenso 2 x rewritable DVD + RW 4.7 GB

In verbatim 2 X BD - RE 25 GB rewritable

If your drive can handle the BD-RE XLthen each disc would hold 100 GB but $ 60 for 5 disks you might want to consider something else for archival purposes.

I suggest to go with another hard drive external to the archive files like optical media and drives also are endangered.

Thanks for posting on the forum.

I can not eject a dvd from my drive iPhoto super-cannot see the drive open up Adobe Photo Elements and organizer and then apps get hung up "not responding" and cannot do anything - I've fixed dozens of times w msg success drive.  Help, please.  Thank you!

    Hello golden2,.

I understand that you have a DVD picture in your SuperDrive drive, but it is not mount on the desktop and will not eject.

Please, try the procedure described in this article using the disc is ejected.

Get help with the SuperDrive slot on your Mac - Apple Support loading

Do not eject discs or discs eject slowly

    1. If the drive ejects discs slowly or appears to have difficulty, insert and eject a disc several times. Check the disc to see if it has a label or other material stuck to the disc which increases the thickness. Remove the label if possible.
    2. If the disc does not eject, try pressing the eject on the keyboard button. Some older keyboards may use the F12 key to eject the disc.
    3. If the disc does not eject, try dragging the icon of the disk to the trash.
    4. If the disc will still not eject, try to hold down the mouse or trackpad button after you restart the computer. The Superdrive should attempt to eject the disc.
    5. If the disc still does not eject, reset the System Management Controller (SMC) and repeat steps 1 to 4.
    6. If the disc still does not eject, Contact Apple or an provider of services authorized Apple, or make an appointment with a Store Apple Store for further assistance.

    Take care.

  • Blank DVD is compatible with Satellite Pro L300D-224?

I have a Satellite Pro L300D-224 and need to buy some blank DVDs to create the recovery disks.

How can I find out who is compatible and how buy?

    Hello!

I think normally you need only 1 or 2 blank DVD for the recovery disks, but I always buy a spindle of 50 DVD - R Verbatim discs. That s a lot cheaper just to buy Virgin DVD s.
For example, I bought this one for my Satellite L300: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Verbatim-43533-DVD-R-Printable-Spindle/dp/B00097CDHC/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_ttl_in

I use these discs as in other laptops and PC and never had any problems. I m very satisfied with these discs and manufacturing.

  • Where to buy the blank DVD - R 4 x disc?

Hi guys like my laptop only Burns dvd - r 4 x is - anyone know where to buy verbatim dvd - r 4 x...
Cannot find any store (they sell only 16 x). Buy verbatim 1-16 x but are not working my laptop is equium A60 with pioneer dvr-k13a player (there is no update of the firmaware for this drive)

    Hello

You don't have to buy blank media that allows maximum engraving just of your drive speed. If the maximum burning speed is 4 x, you can also use 16 x blank media. They will be burned with 4 x, but the result will be the same.

By the way: I use TDK blank DVDs. I am very satisfied. I can really recommend their use.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A30 with a reader of CD/DVD SD-R2412. The drive will read and play pre-recorded DVDs. When I try to record a DVD, the drive will not read a blank DVD disc and I can hear the reading "head hunting". I have tried DVD-R "up to 4 X' and X 1-8' with the same result. The problem exists with different burning utilities including Nero. The drive Burns CD OK, but on occasions, I get an error (SC/SQ = 04/07 drive) through several CD burning. Any ideas? Hello

If your drive is the model you are saying that this is the case, then it does not support writing to DVD media. Check here:

  • My seagate drive external drive keeps ejecting properly after installation of OS El Capitan

My seagate external hard drive keeps ejecting properly after installation of OS El Capitan, it locks also towards the top and turns off, the ext drive when using, I have to restart my IMac 27 inches.  I have two ext hd who does very well for years before the installation of the operating system El Capitan

If you have installed the Seagate Software, please delete and see if there is no change.

Any third party software that is not installed on the App Store or by drag-and - drop in the Applications folder and uninstall by drag - move to the trash, is a modification of the system.

Whenever you delete changes to the system, they must be eliminated completely, and the only way to do this is to use the uninstall tool, if any, provided by the developers, or follow their instructions. If the software has been removed incompletely, you may redownload or reinstall even to finish the job.

I never install modifications of the system myself, and except as stated in this comment, I do not know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find this information.

Here are some general guidelines to help you get started. Suppose you want to remove the so-called "BrickMyMac" (a hypothetical example). First of all, menu using the product, check if there is one, for instructions. Not finding here, look at the Web site, let's say www.brickmymac.com. (Maybe it's not the name real site, if necessary, search the Web for the name of the product). If you don't find anything on the Web site or in your search, contact the developer. While you are waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be a request here as "Uninstall BrickMyMac." If this is not the case, open "BrickMyMac.pkg" and look for an uninstall button. The uninstall program can also accessible by clicking on the button customize, when one exists.

Back up all data before making any changes.

Generally, you will need to restart the computer in order to perform an uninstall. Until you do this, there may be no effect, or the unpredictable effects.

If you can't remove the software in any other way, you will have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third party software, unless you're sure you know how to uninstall in the contrary case, it can create problems which are very difficult to solve.

Try to remove the complex system of changes by hunting for files by name, often will not work and can make the problem worse. The same goes for 'utilities' as the 'AppCleaner"designed to remove software.

  • Screen keeps going blank on Satellite Pro 4270

I recently inherited a 4270 and keeps going blank screen, everything works in the background and the image comes back if I close and open the lid.

However, the screen may go blank after a minute or seconds.
    Can someone advise?

It seems that you have a problem with your FL inverter (this is the part between the LCD and LCD-Tube cable).
You have two options: you can do it yourself and try a small workaround I did on a similar machine or you can give the phone to an authorized servicepartner or a technician who knows enough about toshiba´s so he can solve the problem.

Let me know if you want to try the workaround, but in this case, you need to open your machine TFT-cover.

    Welcome them

  • Re: Screen keeps going blank even if Equim M70 is still running

My screen keeps going blank even if the computer is still running.
Last night, I managed to make it work again for 20 minutes while it was not plugged in, but as soon as it was plugged it erased.

Today, even when he was not plugged in after 20 minutes the screen starts to Flash and then deleted again.

    Any help?

    > Today, even when he was not plugged in after 20 minutes the screen starts to Flash and then deleted again

Hmmm... to me it looks really good mine a bit a hardware problem if the screen starts flashing, then erased.
Maybe there's something wrong with the screen itself or with the other party as FL inverter.
FL inverter is responsible for part of the screen backlight control.

In my opinion, these two parts must be checked!
But I doubt you can do that without additional aid by the ASP technician and so I recommend to ask a technician for assistance.

  • Reader SuperDrive plays movies, CDs, but ejects the DVD-R

I am trying to burn a DVD - a first in a long time.  My circa 2010 Mac Pro with Superdrive is eject the DVD-R discs, but fortunately plays DVD movies and CDs.  When you insert a DVD-R, the drive through 2 cycles of what seems to be the reading of the disc, then automatically opens the Superdrive drive door.  No idea what this problem is?

    Thank you.

Try a cleaning disc. different lasers are used for reading and writing CD and DVD, and so perhaps only a dirty laser lens.

Cold otherwise be hardware problem with the drive.

Have you tried a different brand of DVD?
