MacBook Pro MD101 upgrade

I have a MacBook Pro MD101 (mid-2012) and I changed my hard for:

Samsung 850-Evo-SATAIII - 250GB

and I want to upgrade my Ram 8 GB

1. is it worth the shot that I change my Ram or not?

2. can I put anything Else like CPU or...?

Only the hard disk and RAM are extensible. Most of the other things are part and parcel with the logic board, not split.

This guide will give you an idea of what is and is not available in this model:

  • Can't stop MacBook Pro after upgrade to Mac OS Sierra

Yesterday I had upgraded my MacBook Pro since OS X El Capitan with macOS Sierra. Unfortunately I can't stop him, I can't even restart. Whenever I have start/stop I get a black screen (no slider) and it remains frozen. I have to hold the power button for a few seconds so that he will stop. I want to avoid cleaning the installation and configuring everything. Does anyone have an idea what causes this problem? I cleaned the cache and reset the NVRAM without effect.

    ... I cleaned the caches

I recommend that you do not have this, especially with a 'clean' non-Apple utility. All these things can do is cause problems. A SMC reset will remove some files from the system cache: reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac. That's all that anyone should ever do.

Back up your Mac if you have not already done so. Read https://www.apple.com/support/backup/to learn how to do this please. To learn how to use Time Machine read to use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac.

Then, shut down your Mac and restart in 'Safe Mode '. To learn how to do it please read: try safe mode if your Mac does not start-up. Compare works your Mac in Mode for how safe it was.

Then restart normally. If the same problem comes back, please read the section If a problem does not occur in safe mode for actions recommended to Apple.

Finally, you can temporarily create a new user account and log into this account to determine if the problem also exists when connected to this account. To learn how to read How to test a question to another user on your Mac account. When you are finished troubleshooting, you can remove the temporary user account by following these instructions: macOS Sierra: remove a user or a group. Before you delete, confirm that you have not need of all the files that you have possibly set in this account.

  • MacBook pro RAM upgrade

I have mid-2012 13 inch Macbook Pro. I used it for a year in India. But it's somehow slows down. I have a 4GB 1600 Mhz RAM installed. I think to be upgraded to 8 GB. He face any problem of heating on the upgrade of RAM? About how many dollars will I have to pay for it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Akshay,

You should have no problem with the heating problems by upgrading the RAM, if you use good RAM.

With respect to costs in India, I'm not sure.

You can check out OWC or Crucial for fixing prices and product, they are compatible RAM known providers. I don't know if they ship to the India. You can also contact Apple service provider to see if they have produced for you.

    Hi Lomelio:

The new Macbook Pro uses the new SSD PCIe, which are very expensive. Here is a link. http://store.mcetech.com/mm/merchant.mvc?Store_Code=mtos & Screen = CTGY & Category_Co = PCIEFLASH

Also, if you open your MacBook Pro to install it, you will cancel your warranty.

You the best solution can be an external drive.

  • Question of cloning for SSD upgrade on 12 Macbook Pro

Previously, I did an upgrade to SSD on my Macbook Air to 2012 according to the instructions of JetDrive transcend. Basically connection via USB 3 and using Mac OS X to clear (and format) disc utilities new SSD, then restore again SSD and then remove the original 128 GB SSD and insert the new 480 GB SSD.  For about a month and so far without problem.

Now I'm trying to 2012 Macbook upgrade my Pro partner (on 10.11.6).  I got a Crucial SSD MX300 to replace his HARD drive.  Crucial comes with (or recommend) Acronis software.  And a lot of the messages of the forum recommend Carbon Copy Clone.

My question is if I can use the same method for the cloning of the HD as my Macbook Air (just restore disk of Mac OS X utilities)?  This time, I'm upgrading HARD drive and I don't know if something is different.  At the same time, if I got lucky the first time, I don't not ruin Macbook Pro my spouse this time.

    Thank you.

Yes, you can use disk utility to clone your MBP wives, but unlike CCC, it will not clone the recovery and Partition.

  • Trackpad MacBook Pro late 2011 does not not after upgrade

I just update the OS in my MacBook Pro (late 2011) which worked perfectly well 'El Capitan' to 'Sierra '. Everything went, smooth and pleasant. but now, the trackpad is completely erratic, is in itself (such as move and open programs like possessed). I tried several suggestions from apple such as checking for updates, check the settings, delete all the gestures, etc. I'm assuming that the material is very well that was perfectly fine yesterday... any suggestions please help.   -Note; I have to use an external mouse, and the latter is very well.

    Hello Med_,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. It is my understanding that after upgrading to Sierra, your MacBook trackpad has become erratic. I know that my trackpad is an important part of my daily use, I can certainly understand your concern. I'm here to help get this resolved with you.

You did an excellent job so far! Then I recommend the system management controller (SMC) reset. This system can solve some unexpected behaviors. Follow the steps below:

    1. Stop the Mac.
    2. Unplug the MagSafe from Mac power adapter.
    3. Remove the battery. (Learn about removing the battery in the MacBook and MacBook Pro computers).
    4. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    5. Reconnect the battery and the MagSafe power adapter.
    6. Press the power button to turn on the Mac.

The LED on the MagSafe power adapters could change State or temporarily disable when you reset the SMC.

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

If the problem persists, test this problem in safe mode. This will allow you to exclude the software as the cause. To help get started in safe mode and additional steps, use the steps and the link below:

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

    See you soon!

  • MacBook Pro has started to randomly stop when it is on battery since the upgrade to El Capitan

I have a MacBook Pro (15 inch, early 2011) which works very well on the Mountain Lion for a long time. I finally got round to upgrading to El Capitan last week: directly to 10.11.6. A few days later he just powered down without warning while I was working. He was so very well for a few days, but then made several times in the last 48 hours.

I am moderately sure it happens only when it is on battery (it did not in the past hours 8 while that plugged). Whenever it happens, that there is no warning and the Mac then fine restarts (manually) - Although the clock resets always in 1970 until he can contact an NTP server. One of the curious side effects is that my PostScript fonts were blank on the screen in Excel for a few reboots yesterday but then OK once again!

No hardware has changed. Major software change is only El Capitan and possibly an iStat Menus update.

I have reset PRAM and SMC. I ran the short AHT. I disassembled the machine and clean the fans. they were OK, but the problem seems to occur when the Mac is hot.

Spotlight and Time Machine sometimes seemed to be struggling for the upgrade, and I also saw rpcsvchost with 100% of a core for a while. The machine feels sometimes slow - but for the last 8 hours, it was very good. The only model that I put in place, is that it seems to occur only on battery; It's even happened then that the Dock (etc.) were loading after logging in after an unexpected shutdown.

The other thing common is in the newspapers every time:

    Cause of previous stop:-128

I scanned a number of related posts to aspects of it, but do not look at who blames El Capitan rather than material. Yet, many people reported this kind of problem after the upgrade... Coincidence?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Cause of previous stop:-128

A negative stop code generally indicates a hardware failure. Have the Apple to assess your Mac. The fix may be as simple as a spare battery.

  • Can be upgraded a macbook pro logic?

I own a macbook pro 15 "retina (mid-2015) 2.2 GHz with intel graphics Iris. Now I regret not getting the AMD graphics card and I was wondering if the two cards (one with the graphics card intel) and one with intel and AMD are intercompatibles? If so, apple would be able to sell me a new logic board and install it for me?

    Bruno

P.S. I search google and found a lot of "can I put the graphics chip"-> No, I can't, but I can't find anything on the whole logic board.

First of all, understand that we are all end-users like you and not employees of Apple, so what I say is based on the experience of visiting the stores Apple and reading the reports of similar in these forums requests, only not to have special service Apple policy knowledge.

You can ask an Apple Store on a such update, but their policy seems to have always been 'replace in kind.' which means that they will put in the same room, you have now, but not an uprated one. Who wouldn't help. If you bought the MBP in the last 14 days directly from Apple you can return the computer "not asked" refund of the upgrade to a more powerful version. If you purchased from a third-pary dealer, this option is not available.

If you are no longer in the 14-day grace period, then your only real option is to sell the one you have now and apply the product to a new one with the options you need.

If you decide to sell, please read here first so that the transfer of property 'clean ':
