MacBook won't start or load in single user
Hello. I hope you can help
My sons MacBook primer is more. It happened a day after that that he has uploaded a large number of movies on iTunes. Not sure if there is a connection. It shows a gray bar after typing in his password - stop down after half of the bar is filled.
I tried everything I can find on the forums.
It does not start in safe mode
It will start in recovery mode. Disk utility, says that everything is ok on the hard drive. However, it is also said that it is 100% full of 'other' files.
It does not start in single user mode - gives me the error:
Builduser error (): construction of a user of type 0 error x 20010008
I have reset the NVRAM
FileVault is not enabled - at least the so-called recovery mode
any other ideas?
THX
Brad
You have another Mac, you can use or borrow? You could try booting the Macbook target disk mode and connect it to another Mac.
The hard drive should appear on the other Mac, and you can try to remove some of the films to get about 10 GB of free space on the disk. Then try to start it normally.
Share files between two computers with target - Apple Support disk mode
If you need to borrow one, try to see if the Macbook target disk mode - I don't see why he shouldn't, however.

MacBook won't start - completely back screen
2015 12 '' MacBook
My MacBook won't start. I put on various points of sale and even changed on the brick of cable and power (I have an extra).
Nothing happens when I press and hold the power button.
Any suggestions before I take it to the Genius Bar?
Here is some information that might be useful.
After I press the button for a few seconds, the trackpad does not haptic feedback, confirming that this is the start.
However, if I press the power button once again, I get haptic trackpad. It tells me that it is on, but I always get a black screen. And if I press the caps lock key, no green light appears.

My MacBook won't start properly...
Hello.
My MacBook Pro (with El Capitan) does not seem to start correctly... I've updated the DIVX program and after that, the pc restarted just by itself (there is no nessage that a reboot was iminent)... However there has been music of reboot, followed by the Apple logo and the loading bar (at this stage there was already something weird... the white color background and distorted)...
After some time of loading this bar, she evacuated, background color standard, but then the pc will turn off by itself (before getting to the part of authetication)... If I turn again the same things happen...
Does anyone know or can tell me one any solution to this? Is anyway to start the pc in safe mode, before that, so I could try to fix it?
Thanks for the help.
Kind regards
Tiago
- For safe mode: immediately after the tone, hold down the SHIFT key for a few seconds.
- for the singleuser mode: immediately after the tone, hold down the command key AND the s key.
- To start with messages: immediately after the tones, press and hold v for a few seconds (verbose)
Let us know what is happening, last 10 or if lines of verbose would be useful if you can intercept them.

I have a MacBook Pro 2011. It does not completely start. A little more to halfway through the progress bar to become white, and it seems to freeze. I cannot start in safe mode, but was able to boot into recovery mode and ran first aid on the hard drive. It looks ok, but still does not start. I was also able to do another backup via disk utility (I think) - last prior backup via time machine was 2 weeks and there are... Any suggestions? The hard drive is faulty?

It's a possibility.
Run Apple Hardware Test:

Note that an error free AHT is inconclusive.
Try SMC and NVRAM resets:

https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT204063
Try an start secure;
https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT201262
If no success, start the recovery partition as you did before.
Run disk utility > first aid again and try to reinstall os x.
If the installation is successful, try a start.
If still no success, make an appointment at a bar of genius Apple store for a FREE evaluation.
Ciao.

Hi, I have a Macbook late 2009, 4GB, El captain. Since last year it started to slow down a bit, then applications are beginning to freeze and the beach ball are gone and... for ages (in hours) and even if I try to force that, I couldn't because everything has been frozen. So I had to force shut down the computer. Then, after a while, I couldn't start the computer and when I went to recovery mode, disk utility, the hard drive was still there but nothing about this, so I reinstalled from Time Machine. Was OK for a week, then again the same thing. For these last days, everything was ok, restart this morning I could not at all so I reinstall it again from Time Machine. I verifier check with EtreCheck, run first aid and everything seems fine. What is going on? Someone had this problem? Thanks for help.
Why not publish the report of EtreCheck?

MacBook Air 11 "2012 won't start
My MacBook has been in place and become Finder does not always whenever I try to watch my files.
So I decided to restart and now it won't start, the startup would always freeze in the middle of the progress bar.
I tried:
Repair/check disk + permissions - no problem
Reset NVRAM memory - still does not start
Reset SMC - still does not start
I tried single - user drive is quite well
Reinstalling OSX - cannot run due to 'this article is temporarily unavailable.
And finally, the verbose mode and I am skeptical behind the text following code/orders:
Dynamic code of I080211AWDLPeerManager::configure not support on this device
I080211AWDLPeerManager::getVHtCapabilityIE cannot get the vht ret 2d capabilities
EN1: enable successful "Promiscuous" mode
en0: BSSID changed to XX
Afree mode detailed of these commands would freeze too.
I tried almost everything and I don't want to consider formatting my drive, which can also not let me install OSX for the above mentioned reason. So yes, all my options are gone. It's quite frustrating that came from nowhere and that my options are now extremely slim.
To add my MacBook is no longer a guarantee and it doesn't have the AppleCare.
I'd appreciate any help, thanks!
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
HD recovery start: restart the computer after the ring, press on and hold down the COMMAND and R until the menu screen appears.
Repair the hard drive and permissions: at startup, select in the main menu disk utility. Repair hard disk and permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears, select disk utility and press the continue button. Disk utility charges and select Macintosh HD entry indented from the list on the left. Click the first aid tab, and then click the repair disk button. If disk utility reports any errors that have been corrected, then again run repair disc until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, click repair permissions . Wait until the operation is complete, then quit disk utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.
Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible because it's three times faster than Wi - Fi and more reliable.
If you have no success with the above, try:
Install or reinstall OS X from scratch
Make sure that you have backed up your files because the following procedure will remove all of the hard drive.

Restart the computer and after the buzzer, press on and hold down the COMMAND and R until the menu screen appears.
Erase the drive:

3. set the type of format Mac OS extended (journaled). If necessary, click
Security and button all the option data from scratch in a single pass. Click
the clear button and wait until the process is complete.
4 leave FROM and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select reinstall OS X and click on the install button.
Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should install the version of Mac OS X that you had installed it.

Hi Apple/community,
I need a help.
What it means? Operation failed! My MacBook Pro does not start. It cuts after the loading screen. What will happen?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Well, it seems that your MacBook Pro hard drive has failed and cannot be repaired by disk utility.
Try to reboot into single user mode: How to start your Mac in single user mode or verbose--Apple Support
If it works, try to repair the disk with this command:
fsck -fy

How to destroy a macbook that won't start?
Hello world
I have a macbook pro (July 2011, 2.2 ghz, 4 GB ram) which has had some problems this last March, it would not start up normally and I had to try a model using secure, single-user boot, and run disk utility to force it to initialize. This works that occasionally and since buying a new laptop in March, I tried not he starts, so he has been sitting for awhile. I discovered, there need a new card logic I've heard are expensive, so I decided to sell super cheap and someone else deal as I'm not interested in the MacBook more and went with pc.
the bottom line is I need to clean the hard drive before selling - how can I do this without having to start it upward? is it still possible? If I can start it upward, I would also like to know how to wipe just in general. TIA!
You can't wipe without booting from an external source. You need a drive external internal bootable OS X in order to completely erase the hard drive.
If it cannot be started, the only thing you can do is remove the drive and destroy him physically.

I can't get MacBook Pro to start what it is.
I have a MacBook in early 2011 Pro 15 ". The other day, while he was playing in Mainstage my computer decided to restart but never got past the loading of 3/4 bar. I have run all shortcuts start and seem to restrict the question down to the hard drive. I bought a new ssd and then had to borrow a friends MacBook to connect with disk utility (my computer wasn't allowing me to any disk utility) to format the ssd drive and install OS X. I installed the new ssd in my MacBook and I always get the same question. I can't get into anything other than the single-user mode. What is a motherboard problem or a firmware issue? Someone at - it any other ideas? RAM is tested ok, ssd tested ok, clean install of Mac OS X starts with another computer so that the work of. Tested cable SATA, reset SMC and LANDAU, ok I can't access internet recovery mode (it loads, and then the screen goes black to white). I'll try a firmware reset disk, I don't know how it will work but when I can't access anything whatsoever...
I guess that's an incorrect configuration of the installed SSD. Assuming that there is no mechanical problem with the installation of the SSD, here is how you should have put in place.
Clean Install of Mac OS X
- Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime, press Command + Option + R until a globe appears.
- The Utility Menu appears in 5 to 20 minutes. Be patient.
- Select disk utility, then click on the continue button.
- When loading disk utility, select the drive (generally, the entry Out-bumpy) in the list aside.
- Click the Partition tab in the main window of disk utility. A panel will fall.
- Set the GUID partition scheme.
- Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).
- Click on the apply button, then click the fact when it is active.
- Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
- Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.
This will not work if your computer is capable of a resumption of network. See the computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery to see if you can use this method. If this isn't the case, then your computer initially comes with a version of Snow Leopard on an installation disc. Can you use this disk to partition and format the SSD install Snow Leopard. 10.6.6 or later, is required to access the App Store, where you can download El Capitan for installation.

I have a 10 year old black Macbook, which does not start when a battery is installed. If it is connected without battery installed, it lights up, but if there is a battery in it, even if it is plugged in, it will get the startup sound and the screen of the Apple gray, then turn off. I got a new battery and charge it where the charger turned green, but the results are the same.
Any suggestions?
It is difficult to say what is happening with this machine, since the time and wear are considerations. I don't know what version of the operating system that you use, but there is a sequence of things you should do - in order of severity.

Qosmio G20 - won't start, error ATA #1
I have a G20-102. Today I opened my flash drive and files all showed them as shortcuts. I tried to connect to Firefox 4 and a warning from AVG threat came pointing to C:\windows\system32\mssrv32.exe (Tr/Crypt.xpack.Gen3) as a Protection of identity. I opted for the "Move to vault" option and asked to restart
Now my pc won't start - I get the Qosmio screen, ATA error #1 (CD player has been removed) and then the screen "rolls" - looks like random pixels flashing on the screen. I'm trying to start safe mode, but F5, F8 or any Fkey is not doing
To make things worse, the CD rom has been removed, faulty, so I can't boot from another device. I don't have a USb in the BIOS, only FDD option which I did not
Help, please
Hey,.
To me, it looks like a serious hardware malfunction
You could try to load the default settings in the BIOS. Enter in the BIOS, and then press the F9 key to load defaults. Then save & exit the BIOS and try to start again.
The HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS? If so I try a recovery disk Toshiba recovery installation and check if the problem is hardware or software partners.

Satellite Pro 2100 won't start at all - LED flash
My SP2100 began to have feeding problems and now won't start at all. The AC adapter green LED is lit, that are relevant lights on the body of the laptop (although the "battery charge" light always orange these days). When I try the switch on, startup begins (in fact succeeded on occasion until this morning), however the battery indicator and the adapter lights are flashing, and everything stops again.
On the rare occasions when I'll be past this stage, lights blinking, and the system soon shuts down again with a screen message "low battery." Until this morning, he would sometimes settle, the computer remained on, and the lights showed a State of equilibrium as usual.
Initially I thought that the problem was of course the battery or the AC adapter, but now I'm starting to think that it is with internal PSU of the laptop (although I suspect the battery is probably tour after all this part of loading and unloading).
Any ideas?
Hello
I think you're right. Flashing LEDS are a sign that hardware is defective.
I can't say what exactly is the problem, this should be verified by a technicain.
On the other side I don't know if it's worth to repair such an old machine.Good bye
