MacBook won't start

I have a MacBook Pro 2011. It does not completely start. A little more to halfway through the progress bar to become white, and it seems to freeze. I cannot start in safe mode, but was able to boot into recovery mode and ran first aid on the hard drive. It looks ok, but still does not start. I was also able to do another backup via disk utility (I think) - last prior backup via time machine was 2 weeks and there are... Any suggestions? The hard drive is faulty?

It's a possibility.

Run Apple Hardware Test:

https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT201257

Note that an error free AHT is inconclusive.

Try SMC and NVRAM resets:

https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT201295

https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT204063

Try an start secure;

https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT201262

If no success, start the recovery partition as you did before.

Run disk utility > first aid again and try to reinstall os x.

If the installation is successful, try a start.

If still no success, make an appointment at a bar of genius Apple store for a FREE evaluation.

Ciao.

  • MacBook won't start or load in single user

Hello. I hope you can help

My sons MacBook primer is more. It happened a day after that that he has uploaded a large number of movies on iTunes.  Not sure if there is a connection.  It shows a gray bar after typing in his password - stop down after half of the bar is filled.

I tried everything I can find on the forums.

It does not start in safe mode

It will start in recovery mode.  Disk utility, says that everything is ok on the hard drive. However, it is also said that it is 100% full of 'other' files.

It does not start in single user mode - gives me the error:

You have another Mac, you can use or borrow? You could try booting the Macbook target disk mode and connect it to another Mac.

The hard drive should appear on the other Mac, and you can try to remove some of the films to get about 10 GB of free space on the disk. Then try to start it normally.

Share files between two computers with target - Apple Support disk mode

If you need to borrow one, try to see if the Macbook target disk mode - I don't see why he shouldn't, however.

  • My MacBook won't start properly...

    Hello.

My MacBook Pro (with El Capitan) does not seem to start correctly... I've updated the DIVX program and after that, the pc restarted just by itself (there is no nessage that a reboot was iminent)... However there has been music of reboot, followed by the Apple logo and the loading bar (at this stage there was already something weird... the white color background and distorted)...

After some time of loading this bar, she evacuated, background color standard, but then the pc will turn off by itself (before getting to the part of authetication)... If I turn again the same things happen...

Does anyone know or can tell me one any solution to this? Is anyway to start the pc in safe mode, before that, so I could try to fix it?

    Thanks for the help.

    Kind regards

    Tiago

    • For safe mode: immediately after the tone, hold down the SHIFT key for a few seconds.
    • for the singleuser mode: immediately after the tone, hold down the command key AND the s key.
    • To start with messages: immediately after the tones, press and hold v for a few seconds (verbose)

Let us know what is happening, last 10 or if lines of verbose would be useful if you can intercept them.

  • MacBook won't start not

Hi, I have a Macbook late 2009, 4GB, El captain.  Since last year it started to slow down a bit, then applications are beginning to freeze and the beach ball are gone and... for ages (in hours) and even if I try to force that, I couldn't because everything has been frozen. So I had to force shut down the computer. Then, after a while, I couldn't start the computer and when I went to recovery mode, disk utility, the hard drive was still there but nothing about this, so I reinstalled from Time Machine. Was OK for a week, then again the same thing. For these last days, everything was ok, restart this morning I could not at all so I reinstall it again from Time Machine. I verifier check with EtreCheck, run first aid and everything seems fine. What is going on? Someone had this problem? Thanks for help.

Why not publish the report of EtreCheck?

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive

HD recovery start: restart the computer after the ring, press on and hold down the COMMAND and R until the menu screen appears.

Repair the hard drive and permissions: at startup, select in the main menu disk utility. Repair hard disk and permissions as follows.

When the recovery menu appears, select disk utility and press the continue button. Disk utility charges and select Macintosh HD entry indented from the list on the left.  Click the first aid tab, and then click the repair disk button. If disk utility reports any errors that have been corrected, then again run repair disc until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, click repair permissions . Wait until the operation is complete, then quit disk utility and return to the main menu.

Reinstall OS X: Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible because it's three times faster than Wi - Fi and more reliable.

If you have no success with the above, try:

Install or reinstall OS X from scratch

Make sure that you have backed up your files because the following procedure will remove all of the hard drive.

    HD recovery start:

Restart the computer and after the buzzer, press on and hold down the COMMAND and R until the menu screen appears.

    Erase the drive:

    1. select in the main menu disk utility and click on the continue button.

    2. once the charges of THE select your boot volume (usually Macintosh HD) in the

list on the left. Click on the Erase tab in the main window of THE.

    3. set the type of format Mac OS extended (journaled). If necessary, click

Security and button all the option data from scratch in a single pass. Click

the clear button and wait until the process is complete.

4 leave FROM and return to the main menu.

Reinstall OS X: Select reinstall OS X and click on the install button.

Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible

because it is three times faster than wireless.

This should install the version of Mac OS X that you had installed it.

  • Black MacBook does not start

I have a 10 year old black Macbook, which does not start when a battery is installed.  If it is connected without battery installed, it lights up, but if there is a battery in it, even if it is plugged in, it will get the startup sound and the screen of the Apple gray, then turn off.  I got a new battery and charge it where the charger turned green, but the results are the same.

    Any suggestions?

It is difficult to say what is happening with this machine, since the time and wear are considerations. I don't know what version of the operating system that you use, but there is a sequence of things you should do - in order of severity.

  • MacBook does not start (even in safe mode)

Hi, I have a MacBook pro that won't start. When I turn it on, I hear the ring of priming, but then the screen stays black. I tried all possible troubleshooting recommendation, that I could find on the internet, but nothing makes a difference. None of the startup option keys (start in safe mode, mode disk target, selection of the boot drive, etc.) anything. I can reset the PRAM, but nothing else has even made a difference. All I see is a black screen

Last night, I tried to install another OS in a dual-boot configuration, so I was messing around with partitions on my hard drive. I thought that the worst case scenario, I could always reinstall the OS. Can really break the complete formatting of the hard drive boot sequence? I thought that a hardware failure would prevent me from booting from a USB stick recovery.

The computer is a MacBook Pro 15 "start 2013I think.

    Thanks for your time

  • Qosmio G20 - won't start, error ATA #1

I have a G20-102. Today I opened my flash drive and files all showed them as shortcuts. I tried to connect to Firefox 4 and a warning from AVG threat came pointing to C:\windows\system32\mssrv32.exe (Tr/Crypt.xpack.Gen3) as a Protection of identity. I opted for the "Move to vault" option and asked to restart

Now my pc won't start - I get the Qosmio screen, ATA error #1 (CD player has been removed) and then the screen "rolls" - looks like random pixels flashing on the screen. I'm trying to start safe mode, but F5, F8 or any Fkey is not doing

To make things worse, the CD rom has been removed, faulty, so I can't boot from another device. I don't have a USb in the BIOS, only FDD option which I did not

    Help, please

    Hey,.

To me, it looks like a serious hardware malfunction

You could try to load the default settings in the BIOS. Enter in the BIOS, and then press the F9 key to load defaults. Then save & exit the BIOS and try to start again.

The HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS? If so I try a recovery disk Toshiba recovery installation and check if the problem is hardware or software partners.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 won't start at all - LED flash

My SP2100 began to have feeding problems and now won't start at all. The AC adapter green LED is lit, that are relevant lights on the body of the laptop (although the "battery charge" light always orange these days). When I try the switch on, startup begins (in fact succeeded on occasion until this morning), however the battery indicator and the adapter lights are flashing, and everything stops again.

On the rare occasions when I'll be past this stage, lights blinking, and the system soon shuts down again with a screen message "low battery." Until this morning, he would sometimes settle, the computer remained on, and the lights showed a State of equilibrium as usual.

Initially I thought that the problem was of course the battery or the AC adapter, but now I'm starting to think that it is with internal PSU of the laptop (although I suspect the battery is probably tour after all this part of loading and unloading).

    Any ideas?

    Hello

I think you're right. Flashing LEDS are a sign that hardware is defective.
I can't say what exactly is the problem, this should be verified by a technicain.
On the other side I don't know if it's worth to repair such an old machine.
