I tried to download the driver for the mouse on the internet, but some how it could stop the download. I gave up at tring to fix. Some time in late March or early April, I couldn't access internet and after 22:30. I ran the diagnosis that is provided by internet explore and he said that the HTTP and HTTPS worked but the FTP did not work. AVG later told me my firewall is disabled and there was the possibility to reactivate it and I did. After internet explore stop allowing you to enter certain sites that I wanted to enter, I ran the Diagnostics again and he told me that a firewall client has been the cause of the problem. I tried to control my firewall setting, but had that "due to a problem not identified, windows cannot display the firewall settings". I thought AVG was the problem, so I have unintalled then he returned and attempted to access the firewall but got the same message. I typed in Google MySapce and found this site. I followed a few directions given to others in the thread started by joecarpenter33 and discovered that my firewall has been deleted and Base filtering engine has been deleted also.   This error is caused by a lack of installation of DirectX. Usually some DX files are already installed, but Setup cannot overwrite them. In my case, some of the files in \windows\SystemWOW64 have been accidentally encrypted, and the Setup program does not overwrite them. I had to manually delete these files for the Setup program to succeed. The cause may be different for you, but following these steps should help to understand which files DX are the cause of the problem.
  1. Install DirectX User Runtimes (refreshed June 2010) of http://www.microsoft.com/download/en...ang=en&id=8109
  You will be asked to choose the directory to put the files extracted from the cabin.

  2. run dxsetup.exe from the directory in step 1.

  3. installation failure will probably happen. Look at \Windows\Logs\DXError.log and find the report. INF in the error log file.

  You must extract the files zip first and then open it with a program that can open that particular file type.  So in this case, even if you use Internet Explorer to download files, you must use Vista to extract to the desktop (downloads or music where ever you choose) by right-clicking on the download, unzip the folder and create a new folder with the decompressed files and then you can use WMP or any program you use to play the songs.  But it does not work because of the changes that you did - but we can fix that easily enough.  It happens quite often with many different programs (ZIP especialliy because a lot of people care less about the ZIP of Vista program and cause problems in trying to change).  I suggest that you pay attention to what we're about to do what it will be probably useful more than once to you later for other types of files (I use it often, but I use it often when I install a new program and do not have default values, he created).  Although the first procedure is for most of the types of special system files and so generally used only for repairs (with the exception of ZIP), the second (if you actually need to use it) works with all other types of files.  I recommend that you create a new folder in the Favorites, called "File Association Changes" and add these links so that they will be easy to find if you need again.
