MacKeeper install nightmare

After installing the MacKeeper stupidly, I now have a guest user account that never existed since the first get this MBP.

MacKeeper is eliminated, along with most of the BS, she has created. Using Malwarebytes that I also deleted

/private/etc/St-up.sh

/etc/change_net_settings.sh

/etc/St-up.sh

leaving only 4 points I can't delete anything in MacHD/private/var:

cellulate in MacHD/private/var

com Apple.launchd.PerUser.401 in MacHD/private/var/db/launchd.db

com Apple.launchd.PerUser.401 in MacHD/private/var/log

pishaugupd.root in MacHD/private/var/tmp

No idea what is cellulate? or pishaugupd.root? No idea how to get rid of these?

In addition, no matter what, I can't remove the guest user account. The button "-" does not help. I have disabled the account.

I've never used iCloud or find my Mac.

I signed to iCloud, just be sure to find my Mac has been checked, but it was AFTER the guest user account appeared.

He is also now an 'other' on the login screen, more two users, I had since the first place this MBP. I have not the slightest idea of what name or password for this account, tried a few guesses, vain. I would like to eliminate from the login screen.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and please clarify suggestions developed in detail. Thank you

The guest account is part of OSX and nothing to worry about. It is for temporary use, if someone wants to use your Mac and you don't want them playing with your account; its contents and settings are erased when you log out. You can not delete it, but as I said, it is quite normal that she is.

  • Serious problems iMac (late 2012)

I have an iMac (end of 2012), who has had the most serious problems lately. For about a month, he would often see the spinning beach-ball-of-death for even the simplest of actions. As of today, however, it has gotten worse about 1,000 times. Now, every time I turn on the computer, with nothing connected except for the mouse and keyboard, it starts up fine, and then, whenever I try to do something, the SBBOD appears and stays there for about two minutes before the simple action is completed. Just tonight (I'm typing this from my other computer), what was going on, and then the Finder menu bar has disappeared, replaced by a black bar. The next thing I knew, the screen went black. Fearing for the life of my computer, I pulled the plug. Everything is saved to a hard drive G, but I disconnected earlier today. I've not turned the computer back since. I used to have the famous "Mackeeper," installed, but I made sure to remove every vestige of it. I'm afraid that this iMac may be either raise a viral infection serious, or as the CPU itself is a failure. I have installed Avast, but I checked a few days there are viruses, and there is no infection. I have not recently installed anything that could provoke such a question. It is not protected by the Applecare more. Should I consider at the Apple Store in any case?

Where should I go from here, now?

Should I consider at the Apple Store in any case?

Yes. You're certainly dealing with a disc or any other fault of hardware failure. See also below.

"Avast" is the worst of the whole miserable lot of commercial products 'security' for the Mac. Not only it fails to protect you against any real danger, it can send data of a personal nature (e.g. historical web navigation and content e-mail messages) back to the developer without your knowledge, give false alarms, destabilize and slow down the computer, you expose a network attack and corrupt the network settings and permissions of files in your home folder. Removing it can not repair all the damage.

Some versions of the product also inject advertising into web pages. In short, apart from the fine print of the license, Avast is not malware and is probably worse than any malware known now in circulation.

Please back up all data and then remove Avast in accordance with the instructionsof the developer. Turn it back on. Never install a software "anti-virus" or "anti-malware" again.

If you have tried to remove Avast by dragging an application to the trash, you need to reinstall, and then follow the link above.

  • MacKeeper is not installed? Is my computer safe?

I have an iMac (first generation, I think) I don't know much on the computer... I know I downloaded the Mackeeper... but I do not think that I installed it... And I just want to know if my computer is SECURE?

I think I have and iOS 9.1 but, I don't know about you.

To determine the identity of your computer, go to Apple logo (in the upper left), and in the drop-down menu, select about this Mac.

Then post back with the version number, the second line down.

CHANGE if you install it you should be sure.   Just trash what you downloaded.

  • Creating cloud Nightmare - cannot run Photoshop CS6 / impossible to install Photoshop CS6 - Win 7 64 bit

    What can I do?

I've long used lightroom and photoshop cs6 for several months on this system successfully.  A license through the creative method of cloud - who, before today, worked OK most of the time.

From today - I have huge problems that I can't move.  When I run the photoshop application I get a message indicating that I have 30 days remaining on a trial subscription.

If I try the link to the "software license" dialog request for serial number.  As a creative cloud subscriber, I don't think I've ever received a serial number.  If I try the link which

says "Sign up now", I'm going on a web page where one of the options is the signature as a member of creative cloud.  I can do it but it does not help somehow.

The only thing I can do now is to continue the trial, but I have to do whenever I run the application photoshop - what is often in my workflow, since I use mostly lightroom and photoshop required link.

I completely uninstalled photoshop via windows, uninstall and then reinstalled using the application adobe but install Manager said there were errors.  There was a "hyperlink" (at least that'w what it looked like) who

said something like "more details", but I couldn't get more details.

    Hello Bigtex221,

This sounds like adware. I wrote a small diagnostic program to help show what adware is installed. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etrecheck.com, run it and paste the results here. EtreCheck is perfectly safe to run, don't request your password to install and is signed with my developer Apple ID.

If adware is installed, EtreCheck will help remove you, although you may need to provide a password. If you are not comfortable with that, just after the report of EtreCheck here and other AIDS can tell you exactly which files should be deleted and the way to do it.

WARNING: Although EtreCheck is free, there are other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.

  • Beware of the MacKeeper

When installing MacKeeper, claiming to be "clean and protect your Mac" software he installed several pieces of adware and scareware which not only bore you and invites you to buy stuff you don't want or need but are possible phishing sites. I downloaded and installed under the impression that he was free. The announcement led me to download, he stated that he was free. I discovered that it was free to download, but cost money to use. I ran and concluded that he would do nothing unless you paid, I paid for one month of use ($19.95) and he ran. He said that he found and repaired somewhere about 12 000. Immediately I started to receive Web pages popping up trying to sell me software Reimage and foreclosed homes, etc. I ran MacKeeper again and it found and corrected a number of problems. Then, I decided to check it out and ran a battery of 10 times and each time he finds and repaired several different issues. How can issues arise only once to another when I didn't do anything else? I uninstalled MacKeeper and requested a refund. I immediately started to receive Web pages supposed to be Apple and similar to official pages on the Apple site informing me that I had three viruses and that the only course of action was to download MacKeeper (I saved bookmarks to these sites just in case I could find a place to report them to and when I try to go there, I get a warning that it is a suspected phishing site.) This happen several times per hour. In the meantime, I will continue to get windows trying to me but Reimage, foreclosed homes, MacKeeper or what have you. Sometimes, I'd get a vertical Ribbon about 2.5 "wide ALLERT saying me do nothing at all until I called Apple Support to the number they give me or asking me to chat online with Apple support representatives. Finally, I used EtreCheck to find the malicious files on my system and crossed the tedious task to find and remove them. However EtreCheck has provided me with the paths to them.

All the apps 'cleaning' are scams. There are still worse examples as 'MacKeeper.

Extract of effective defenses against software malware and other threats:

    • Never install a product that claims to 'clean up', 'speed', 'optimize', 'boost' or 'speed up' your Mac; to "wash", "tune" or to make it "brilliant". These allegations are absurd.
      • These products are marketed very aggressively. They are all scams.
      • They usually operate on the erroneous premise that Mac builds 'junk' that must be systematically 'cleaned' for optimum performance.
      • Trial versions of these programs are successful because they provide more instant gratification of free space on the disk.
      • This increased space is the result of irreversible destruction of files, programs or operating system components normally protected against accidental tampering or removal. The eventual result will be the reliable operation, poor performance and random crashes that may not become evident for months, or even years after their use, when updates of programs or OS X are finally released.
      • Memory "cleaners" that bypass the work of OS x memory management algorithms by purging the memory contents inactive for mass storage, which can only result in performance degradation and accelerated the hardware failure.
  • MacKeeper activation pop ups

Hi, guys, please advise me, I'm new to Mac and installed a few applications, one of them is called MacKeeper. I don't know if I need it, but it asks me to activate a license all the time. You, everybody, experience using this software? Is it really necessary to purchase a license and activate in on my Mac? Your help would be much appreciated.

In fact, it's not very good app and MacKeeper is not part of the standard Apple OS software suite. It will bring more harm and can cause serious problems with your mac. It is best to uninstall as soon as possible. Advanced users recommend to get rid of. You can find the instructions on how to uninstall MacKeeper on this forum or check the instruction on a developer site:

If this does not solve the problem, you have adware installed one of the recommendations favorite by volunteers on these forums is to use malwarebytes for mac that isn't anti-malware, anti-virus. He simply deletes malware is known and does not remain resident to protect you from getting infections, only clean it if it is found.
