Magic mouse, not scroll after sleep

My magic mouse stopped scrolling when I wake my MacBook to sleep 2016.  I use El Capitan 10.11.5.  The only way to restore full functionality of the mouse is by restarting the computer.  I watched a lot of historic messages with similar problems, but nothing has solved the problem yet.  It's very frustrating.  Any help appreciated.

But you did not provide key information.   What is a former Magic Mouse 1 or the new Magic Mouse 2?    Now that you have upgraded, the MM1 only partially work with El Capitan.   You will need to buy the new Magic Mouse (MM2) to ensure full functionality with El Cap and his successors.

TL; DR after waking from sleep, the wired Mac keyboard and mouse are unresponsive.

I have a new Mac Mini.

    OS X El Capitan 10.11.2, 16 gb Core i7.

I had a keyboard and a compatible bluetooth mouse, but I had the problem that after the Mini for sleep, the keyboard and the mouse were not detected.

I bought an Apple mouse wired and wired keyboard.

I have the same problem.  If I SLEEP the Mini, when I wake up it (short press on power) or the keyboard or the mouse are recognized.  It's like I have no connected.  If I disconnect it from the usb and the re - attach they are not always recognized.  I have to press power to force power off and restart and then my keyboard and mouse are recognized.

Sometimes when pressing the power button to wake up from her sleep, I also get a "flickering" image monitor, which improves if I turn on and off to sleep a few times, or restart.

It is very annoying, any ideas?

I have a magic mouse 2 I have installed on my Windows laptop, 10 but I can't get the scrolling to work, I know there is a way to make it work, but I can't seem to get the mining work like everyone else.  I really want to buy a different mouse.  Can someone please help me and give me the steps in lame terms

    Thank you

    Hello, 4kids4me,

The magic mouse 2 has been designed for OS El Capitan of Apple and its successors.  It only works partially with older Apple systems.   I often read Windows users, but they almost always have problems and you will understand, Apple adapt their products for Windows users.

That said, I haven't read more partial workarounds and wonder if the Windows forums could be more productive for you.   Which leads to believe everyone can work with them.

I try to reset the PRAM and SMC but the Magic Mouse does not work. I'm sure the mouse works because I tested it on another Mac.

  • Some applications does not respond after sleep (El Capitan)

Product: 13 '' Macbook Pro retina (12.1) (base model sheet)

    El Capitan Version: 10.11.6

    The problem:

When I connect after that my Macbook went down, I often have problems with some of the stock apps. In particular, I had this problem with the Mail Messages, reminders and calendar. This seems to be a problem when they are open before putting the macbook to sleep. This same problem happened with non-apple-stock applications.

Once logged in, if I click on the application icon, the application window will come into focus. After that, I'm unable to use the application (as if frozen) and I often just see the spinning Rainbow mouse icon.

Can I force quit the app and then open it again, but now the application does not load.

To solve the problem, I can restart the macbook and all is well.

Some others probably associated with funny things I saw (only attracted to this once... but did not look at one time or another):

I open the calendar application after the macbook was sleeping and my full general calendar was empty (which would be nice if it were true!). In any case, I checked the 'accounts' and also found that there was no accounts! (I have 3 goes). So I wonder if there is a problem with the accounts after sleep since these apps I've had problems with all iCloud account and mail also uses some other accounts.

Big Question: Is there something I can do to make that happen?

Thank you very much for your help! Sorry if this is a double post, it is difficult to find an answer via google search.

Start Safe Mode removes the system caches that can help...

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Then try to Message, Mail, etc.

If you still have problems, check the startup disk.

Launch the disk utility located in/Applications/Utilities

Then select the disk to boot on the left and then select the first aid tab and then click run.

  • Magic Mouse to scroll or drag

    Hi all, need your help.

I have a Macbook Pro (retina, end 2013) with Yosemite 10.10.5. I just got a Magic Mouse (A1296 3VDC) with new batteries. I've matched with no difficulty to my Mac. Standard features are perfect (cursor autour, by adjusting its speed and standard single, double or triple click). However, but no matter what I do, the features do not work (hit button scrolling, secondary, zoom, swipe...).

I already checked System Preferences > mouse and System Preferences > accessibility, without success.

I also tried to reset the SMC.

    Any suggestion?

    Thank you

If you are still running Yosemite (as indicated in your profile) then you must go to 10.11.3 El Capitan.   It is the operating system required for the use of the new Magic Mouse 2.
