• Problems with mail after switching to macOS Sierra

  Hey all

  After having recently upgraded to macOS Sierra, I am unable to read my mail.

  I get the following error every time I check on "Get Mail".

  There may be a problem with the mail server or the network. Check the account settings "*" or try again.

  I see your message that you get an error in the mail indicating that there is a problem with the mail server or the network.  To help get this problem resolved, I suggest that you follow the steps below:
  

  If mail refers to a problem with the mail server, or the network

  Mail will say that it is impossible to connect due to a problem with the mail server or the network. For example, the message may refer to a connection that has expired, or too many simultaneous connections:

  

  If you are connected to the Internet, but the connection has expired, your email provider might be affected by a discontinuance of service. Contact them or see their status Web page to ensure that their e-mail service is online. Examples of status pages:

  • iCloud mail status
  • Gmail status
  • Status of Yahoo mail
  • Status of the AOL mail
  • Status of Outlook e-mail

  If the message indicates the number of simultaneous connections, too many of your devices is check your e-mail account at the same time. Quit Mail on one or more of your other devices.

  If you are still unable to send or receive e-mails

  1. Make sure that you have installed latest version of the Mac software updates, especially if the problem occurred immediately after the installation of a previous update.
  2. In OS X El Capitan or later version, you can see a status icon and the short error message in the upper right of the Mail window, under the search box. The message may indicate 'Network offline' or 'Connection failed', for example. Click the message to see more details on the issue.
     
  3. Check your connection to the Mail connection doctor. It might be able to say more on the issue.

• MacOS Sierra not properly to access the Keychain for OpenSSL/SSH passwords

  It seems to be a problem in the Sierra of MacOS on the passwords for SSH keys.

  I have my public/private key pair that is enabled for access to some linux servers, so I can't SSH in without inserting my password. After upgrading to Mac OS sierra, it seems that the keychain is no more long-term treatment/store/retrieve passphrases correctly.

  When first tried to open a session in one of my remote servers, asked me for the password, which seemed odd, so I thought that maybe the passwords were lost in the upgrade and changed the password manually by calling "ssh-keygen - f id_rsa Pei." Then I went to log in again, I asked the password and he entered, so I could connect to the server but then, apart from SSH telling me it has stored the password in the keychain, subsequent attempts to connect again always ask me the password.

  When I looked at the source that is generated in the pop-up window when you reference an element hidden, is to convert the < and >, symbols of "& lt" and "& gt" respectively, which means it does reference the text from the element hidden in the form of literal text and convert anything that resembles HTML in plain text instead of treat it only as HTML. I can see why this would be useful for some people, but it's not so useful to me, especially since he is used to the opposite effect.
  
  They have both have in common, is that they use the wwv_flow_item_help.show_help function. I guess that the culprit lies in this encapsulated code.

  A quick and dirty solution would be to replace the escape with their html tags characters so that it is rendered correctly

  that is, add the following:

  The other solution I was going to suggest was to write your own application process that gets you some JSON - Martin D'Souza has written a blog on the use of the apex_util.json_from_sql; which is what you would probably use a query such as:

• macOS Sierra mail - Mail change email address Please HELP!

  As an update to anyone who can meet this problem, after talking with level 2 support, there seems to be a bug with the mail in the Sierra. Your emails DO NOT get sent to the wrong email in error, it looks just like that in the view of the items in your Inbox or sent. A future update should correct this problem of displaying wrong email address on emails.

  Hey all, I upgraded to macOS Sierra and noticed that one of my function used more regularly on Mac OS, 4 finger swipe to switch between desktop computers does not work! Mine is an April 2011 MacBook Pro.

  Earlier, 2 fingers sliding back in the files, similar to switching back and forward for the Web pages in Safari, has been abandoned without reason penetrable. I hope that's not the same fate for 4 finger swipe to switch between desktops.

  I probably use hundreds of times every day for switching between desktop computers because I have safari, MS Word and open the mail outside of iTunes on separate workstations. I hope that a fix is released soon!

  Rule files are stored in MailData folder in the Library/Mail/V4 of the user folder. Depending on what OS version you had previously installed, you can try to restore the files from a backup rules. Mail was listed in the folder V2 or V3.
