Mail in Mac OS Server 5.1 Server (El Capitan)

Hello.

A question on the mail server.

I want to NO limit single size email (with attachments).

Default seems to be 10 MB max...

For my needs it is not enough

Now, when someone send a bulk email to a single account on the server, receives this message:

SMTP error: 552 5.3.4 Message size exceeds limit

This message is repeated several times.

Also, how can I stop it?

Can you help me?

Many thanks and best regards!

Start a terminal and type:

sudo serveradmin settings mail: postfix: message_size_limit = 50000000

The result will be a confirmation of the new configuration.

50000000 is about 50 MB.

I tried to download Mac OS Server via the App Store. Someone in the discussions said that you will be automatically get invited to download the old version on Mac OS Server even if you are trying to d/l the real version. This does not work for me. Pop-up - message that me firstly update my system for Sierra. But this isn't an option for me. I need to stay 10.10.5 for several reasons (compatibility of systems ERP etc.).

How and where can I I Mac OS Server 5.0 to d/l?

BTW: Apple support Hotline wasn't really positive or useful. They just told me that I have to upgrade to Sierra. But I think it was b * llsh * t.

Anyone here having the same problem?

    Thanx

    CSX

I'm having a similar problem. I want OS x 10.9.5 running Server 3.2.2 for MacOS 10.12 running Server 5.2. Setup of Sierra warned me to keep my data server I have first need to install OS X 10.10 and 10.11 and Server 4 or 5. Last night I upgraded to OS X 10.11.4 and then tried to upgrade the server. After updates, I finished with OS X 10.11.6 and Server 5.2 and could not open the app server as my data could not be upgraded to version 5.2. I don't know if I've done the 10.11.6 upgrade because the app store made me or because I saw that he needed for the Server available 5.2 version but anyway I have never seen a possibility to download the version of the Server 5.0.x and 5.1.x from the app store. I have not excluded with certainty that the app store will offer the old version of the server application to match the version of the OS, but since yesterday evening I think that it is not. After the cat and speaking to apple support today the only advice that I can move forward with, I got was download an older version of server from a 3rd party source. That comes with its obvious risks, but I managed to download the server TechGlobex 5.0.15 (link below) and I'll try again tonight. Unfortunately I must have work during the day, so I had to return my support 10.9.5. My plan is OS X update 10.9.5 10.11.4 then Server 3.2.2 to 5.0.15, check that things work ok and perform another backup, then updated to OS X 10.11.4 to 10.11.6 5.0.15 to 5.2 server monitoring. If it's all that work at this stage, I should be free upgrade to Mac OS Sierra!

Here is the download for 5.0.15, I will post if it works for me or not

  • Mac OS Server - local users on console does not.  The shared access or ssh on account works

A Mac Mini running Mac OS Server has problems with authenticating the passwords of local users.  Users connect the console of the physical computer running macOS app Sierra and Server 5.2.

I'm looking for a short solution from scratch user and migrating data to a new installation.

My hunch is that there is an interaction with the server application.  The other Macs, I managed on the same network fail server and do not have these problems.

I installed a new version of macOS Sierra and then migrate the old data server on using the migration wizard, but the problem persists.

The server used to have users on the network, but they are all deleted, and all users are the.

In application server, the only services running time machine, the caching server and file server.  DNS, DHCP and Open Directory services are disabled in the server application.

A local user password will work normally when the computer is restarted.  But if the user disconnects, and tries to connect to or use the fast user switching back and forth between accounts, the password is not accepted.  On reboot, it will be accepted.

In addition to passwords are not accepted, other errors when you try to connect to specific customers include:

"Your account is not a valid directory.  For more information, contact your system administrator'

    or

"On behalf of user that you selected is not available."  Check your network connection and try again to the user account.  If you are connected to the network, ask system administrator for assistance. »

If a network is used to access the data of the user using the user name and password, it works.  Similarly, SSH'ing via the terminal using the username and password works.

An admin user can change the password back and it usually works for one login.  Then the password is denied if the user disconnects or use the fast user switching.

Thanks in advance for any help on this embarrassing problem!

I should clarify: it's the passwords of local users on the Mac who stop working (for the connection or fast user switching), until the Mac restarts.

  • Mac Mini server RAID spoil

This follows a previous thread of mine.  Previously, the Mac mini server (2009, 3.1 I think) would not start.  The Apple logo and the spinning wheel seems forever.

I found the boot disk and a USB optical drive and so I went in disk utility.  I got the software RAID 1 set up.  Hard drives were fine, physically, but the whole RAID said it is "degraded" and one of the volumes said it failed.  I tried rebuilding it but failed.  I did not delete the volume down, instead, I deleted the whole RAID, thinking that I would be able to start the disks as standalone.  Instead, or volumes are mounted, they not only mount when I click Mount, and when I turn on the machine, I now get the folder with the?.  No volumes appear when I hold down the option key when starting.  I tried discs of fixation of the Terminal and he says they were mounted with success, but they were not.  I must be missing something in the commands, I don't know them well.  I tried to create a new RAID array, but he said that all the data would be deleted.  At any given time, two RAID volumes said that they failed, and then the RAID array would not appear or appear offline as opposed to gradient.

I screwed myself by removing the raid array?  Both drives are dismantled and their partition type is "Apple_RAID_Offline".

Can I fix this and back up my data?

I fixed readers are not mounted or named myself.  They are (were) mounted as an independent non-RAID drives.  They needed to be repaired and could not repair one of them says however, disk utility.  Disk utility also told me at my backup files and wipe the readers.  How can I back up my files if I can't start the machine?  There is no Finder on Mac OS X Server installation disc.

    Any suggestions?

  • Can I use 6 discs in a Mid 2012 Mac Pro Server to?

I want to consolidate a couple of servers on a Mac Pro Server. I intend to use a disk to store data and the other as backup (simple clones). 6 TB of hard drives compatible with the Mid 2012 Mac Pro?

    Yes with the following conditions:

-There is a bug in OSX 10.8.4 and later the internal formatting prevents drivers more than 2.2 GB.

This bug appeared in 10.8.4, and has not yet been set. You can

using an any older Mac OS X disk utility, your Mac may initially with 10.7.3, 10.8 or 10.8.3 and therefore the 10.6 DVD and so does not work

Another work around is to move this drive in an external case and delete it there (assuming your case is modern enough to deal with readers more than 2.2 to.

    • When you DELETE a more 2.2 TB drive in an internal drive Bay, it is given the stuff of Logical Volume in Mac OS X 10.8.3 and later versions. Many readers regarded here as a BUG. Logical volume group partitions were not needed and trafficked, re - DELETE and other functions. There are several very different workarounds:

    • Re-CLEAR in a box outside, provided you can accommodate more discs 2.2 TB ("really old" cannot).
    • CLEAR using Mac OS X or Recovery_HD or install predates it 10.8.3
    • Manually delete the partitions of a logical Volume using Terminal Server group.

-For the mounting of sled internal:

The penetration of the screw depth for 'down-screw mount adjacent to the platters' on some readers from over 3 TB have been shortened. This may mean that the live sled down until they adjust and begin to compress the washers on the sled. If this is the case, your drive will not rest flat on the sled and do not breed with the connector backplane without additional adjustment.

OWC now sells sleds that uses different types of mounting holes in the HD to avoid this problem.

You can shorten the screws, or put a washer under the head to ensure they can be warm in the authorized depth. Also, now OWC/Macsales now sells sleds that use the location of the different types of mounting screws to avoid this problem. However, these sleds are only for the Pros 2009 and subsequent

  • Install OSX no server on Mac Mini "Server"?

I have the opportunity to buy a Mac Mini "Server" 2012, or a regular 2012 Mac Mini. Both are clocked at 2.6 Ghz i7, with ram of 4 GB, but the ordinary non-server Mac Mini is much more expensive. My question is, if I could reinstall OSX (El Capitan), without a trace of any server software and use it as you would with a regular mac mini. I'm kinda new to Mac, and I think that a mac mini would be the most cost-effective method to penetrate the mac-i-verse.

    Thanks for any help!

    Yes, you can.

  • no no pick host server el capitan. List [MAC Address]:unkown.home

We have 21 iMacs running on the server (El Capitan, recently updated) and alone is binding. The solution is usually quite simple for users and groups in SysPref. Remove the server host and binding, find the available server in the option drop-down menu, but for some unknown reason, the server is listed as unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home , that I found is the MAC address of the server. I ran this in a terminal:

    sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist

    and

    sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist

back to link the server in SysPref and correct server name option appears briefly and then changed back to "unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home" right before my eyes!

You see "unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home" anywhere on the server?

Is the correct server name a bonjour name? That is to say theServer.com? or is it a FQDN name? theServer.YourDomain.com?

  • Better conservation to use for the Mac Mini Server

    Hi all

I have a Mac Mini, I want to start using a server around the House. Manage other Macs around the House, centralized Time Machine and are also used as a file server for both Windows I have machines.

Therefore, a Mac Mini with 500 GB of storage, so I obviously need to add much more. Ideally, I'd like to build a 5 4 Bay RAID system but it is there, I seem to be failing and need help. I seem to have 3 options - stroke of lightning, USB, or NAS.

Love at first sight seems to be too much and a lot of people say he exaggerated in any case for a home installation

NAS seems to be the most cost-effective way, but then negates the point of the Mac server still?

USB looks good, but I can't find any decent USB enclosures, are there who would recommend?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

Unfortunately, many would say that Macs are not appropriate to use as real servers for businesses, however some do and for small businesses, they are perfectly usable. Obviously in a situation of host concern the most appropriate a Mac as a server is completely different.

While the most common choice for the storage of a Mac server these days would be an external RAID Thunderbolt for example the promised Pegasus R4 and R6 lines, I agree for a location that a NAS solution may be more appropriate.

A NAS can act as a universal file for Mac and Windows PC server, should not let the Mac on all the time, and most NAS devices support also act as a Time Machine backup server. However, some people say that based NAS servers Time Machine are not reliable enough and you may use a real solution of Apple as a Capsule or a Mac running Server.app and sharing a drive as a destination of Time Machine.

I agree somewhat that NAS based Time Machine systems will not be as reliable as a real Apple one, but I'd also probably say that they are not either completely useless. For example, I use a NetGear ReadyNAS as a system of Time Machine and I'm pretty happy with it.

In addition, for external storage, there are additional options.

    • USB, as you said
    • FireWire is always possible even if you suddenly need lightning to FireWire adapter, you can even get a FireWire RAID solution
    • Love at first sight as the promised Pegasus system I mentioned
    • NAS - you can connect to it via NFS and "re - share" via AFP via the Mac server
    • iSCSI Ethernet to a NAS system, could be directly at a customer or could be're-shared' via AFP
    • Fiber Channel to aid suddenly in love with FDDI card and then have a configuration Fibre Channel SAN - very expensive and often used by video editors
    • Maybe a bolt of lightning to eSATA adapter, then an eSATA storage solution
