Mail server outgoing Comcast IMAP offline

I'm on OS 10.11.3 and Mail 9.2 0n an iMac. I have an IMAP of Comcast account. The outgoing mail server is offline. The Comcast site is not really useful, as it shows how to configure using Mail 7 - entry in '9' screens are different. It doesn't seem to be a way to enter the incoming and outgoing port information. I tried to restart, again my password, etc.. I know that the fault is not at the level of the Comcast server, I sent mail to my account via outlook of suggestions on how to solve this problem?

Hi Fl iMac,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. Sorry to hear that you encounter these problems with your e-mail account in El Capitan. If you think it may be a problem with incorrect port, it is possible to change the configuration of the port for both mail servers incoming and outgoing, but not in the same place:

-For the incoming server, you would go to Mail > Preferences > accounts, select the account in question on the left side, and then select the Advanced tab to the right. Must say Port: and allow you to select the authentication.

-For the outgoing server, you would go to Mail > Preferences > accounts and select your account on the left. Then, in the tab main account information , where it says mail server outgoing (SMTP), you click on the menu down and select Edit SMTP Server list... In the window that opens, you would select the correct outgoing server in the list above, then select the tab Advanced settings below. Again, you should see an option that defines the Port: and authentication.

  • Error 0x800CCC90 when the Comcast of Windows Mail e-mail server access

I have Windows Vista on my PC and use Windows Mail. I can't set up a Comcast email newly created to work, even if I created my account according to the guidelines.

    Mail - POP3 server type

    Incoming mail server: imap.comcast.net

Number of server port = 587 using SSL

Outgoing mail - type of SMTP server

    Outgoing mail server: smtp.comcast.net

Server port number = 993 using SSL

When I try to connect to the mail server, this error:

Account: "mail.comcast.net', server: 'imap.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, server response: ' * OK IMAP4 loan ', Port: 993, secure (SSL): Yes, Server error: 0x800CCC90, error number: 0x800CCC90

I can't directly connect to the mail server from Comcast using the login ID and the password I used in Windows Mail.

Can someone tell me what causes the failure of WIndows Mail?

    Thank you very much!

If you want an IMAP account, you cannot use the settings of POP3 that mentions the error message. It's one or the other.

  • How can I change my outgoing mail server but keep the same email to send?

    Hi team,

I have a new job and a new e-mail address of work, I now work for a charity in Australia, so I have an [email protected] address to my email.  Its all good while I'm at work, but the technology that put in place said when I'm at home, I need to use my own mail server outgoing (its optusnet so I'm at work).  So my question is how to keep my [email protected] outgoing e-mail address?

When I try to send an email, I get the window that says optusnet... will not send the email and I can choose my other outgoing servers (iCloud or gmail) in a list, but when I change to one of these options automatically change the e-mail address sending the e-mail.

As I said I work for a charity and the nature of some of my emails and requests, it is important that sending email looks official so it's kinda a problem unless I am limited to only send emails during work hours while I'm physically at work - which is not really going to do it for me.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Have a nice day

You can access your work e-mail account via a web interface (browser)? If so, you can use it as who would use your work email of course.

I don't know any other way at home, it's your ISP servers that carry your email and they don't recognize another provider.

  • (MAIL) Message could not be sent because your account does not have a preferred outgoing mail server

    Hello again guys!

This error started before even El Capitan. I am able to receive emails but not send.

The message is "this message can not be sent because your account does not have a mail server outgoing favorite" and I don't know where to change that or what to enter here, incidentally.

Any ideas? I guess it's an easy fix (hopefully).

You cannot configure Windows Mail to use an e-mail account on the Web (HTTP) on a computer that is running Windows Vista

Windows Mail can't stand the HTTP servers used by Hotmail and other web e-mail providers.

Use Windows Live Mail instead of Windows Mail Windows Live Mail is an e-mail program that you install on your computer. Windows Live Mail stores messages on your computer. This means that you can access, read, and compose e-mail messages even if you are not connected to the Internet.

Windows Live Mail works with popular Web-based e-mail services such as Hotmail, AOL mail, Google mail, and Yahoo! mail. Windows Live Mail is designed to configure automatically many popular e-mail services.

  • BlackBerry smartphones change to another IMAP mail server settings

    Hello

I'm an Admin for a treatment centre and one of our psychiatrists has a BB tour. He asked me the other day if I could set up his email account on our server for him on his phone. Through the messaging configuration wizard, I selected "Other" account and configure for IMAP, and then he asked me his email address and the password. He took the domain name and assured that the names of mail servers have been so. Now in a perfect world, this would not be a problem. I recently picked up a complete idiot and this guy has our MX records pointing to a 3rd party company where all of our outside emails go and then Outlook clients are set up at the pop of this box, in addition to the installation of Exchange (I know its totally lame). Ive done everything everyone what just configure an IMAP account with the IP address of the server and mail works very well for them. I can't for the life of find me where I can actually change the names of e-mail server for the IMAP account, I have create on his tour of BB. Is this a limitation of the phone? Or I'm in the right place. Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

You must use the Advanced Integration, via the BIS carrier site, and you may need to 'false' on the first step... give the email address valid but a false password... then you'll be able to get to the screens that allow you to indicate the specific server names.

    Good luck!

  • Corrupted incoming for Gmail account mail server settings

After the upgrade to El Capitan, Mail was working fine, but then stopped working for my account Gmail after a few reboots of the mail app and maybe a reboot of the system. I found that my outgoing mail server settings were not accurate, then I fixed it those. Others have reported on this subject.

I have another problem, however. My server settings for the account of Gmail incoming mail are corrupt. Instead of imap.gmail.com, incoming mail server settings are imap.mindspring.com. Probably, it is that I got my return e-mail address set on my mindspring email when sending the Gmail account.

This field is locked for editing. How should I do? I don't want to remove the e-mail account and recreate completely. I'm very comfortable to do low-level stuff if anyone has some type of command line or other fixes.

    Thanks for any help.

    Awesome. AppleScript to the rescue:

say application "Mail" to the value server name of the account ' GMail ' to 'imap.gmail.com '.

    and in fact.

  • Mail server integrated with FTP

I am looking for a solution to the problem of large attachments that are underway through Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. I suppose a solution to the problem is to have a mail server outgoing specially configured which detaches attachments from any greater than 1 MB email, generates an ftp account and inserts a message at the top of the email saying "go to ftp://Username:Password@ft (the username and password must be generated automatically for temporary) for fixing referenced in this e-mail."

  • Outgoing offline mail server

I can't send an email and when I try this, it goes into the Outbox.  Also, I got an error message:

Cannot send Mail, the operation could not be completed. (MCMailErrorDomain error 1032.) When I go to the email preferences under account information, the server of outgoing (SMTP) mail shows Centurylong (offline).  Any ideas how to remedy this situation and be able to send mail again.  iCloud mail are not sent or the other (same as above e-mail server).

Earlier, before all that happened, a message popped up on my home screen to enter my password of Qwest system preferences/accounts.  I did, but nothing happened.

  • 'Unable to connect to the server' msg on Palm Pre to the IMAP e-mail server

I am trying to connect to a server of Courier IMAP on my Palm Pre. It happens to be a Lotus Domino 7 server, but I don't think that is relevant, unless someone can suggest a better Protocol IMAP (don't want to use POP, because I want access to records). I was able to use it very well on my Palm 750 (Win Mobile) and now for the test, on Outlook Express as a Windows client, so I know that the IMAP server does not work correctly.

On the Meadow, when I press the "Sign In" button at the bottom of the page of manual configuration of account, I always get the message:

    Error

Unable to connect to the server

I am able to sync the Pre with EAS system based on Zimbra to my business and my personal Google gmail account without any problem.

On the Meadow, in the manual configuration of the account, I entered

    E-mail type: IMAP

    nom_ordinateur.nom_domaine.com

    user name [no @domain.com]

    password

    Port: 143

    Encryption: no

[And yet once again, I know that the values that I have entered are correct, because I just enter values in Outlook Express and it worked fine.]

He actually let me same hit "Sign in" until I set up outgoing mail server also (which seems weird and as a minor bug - it should let me retrieve messages, even if I don't have an available SMTP server to send responses). So, I also implemented the mail out with authentication server. I don't know I have a valid for sending SMTP system, but let's assume that is not related to the error, as I just want to do my incoming mail and be able to deposit in the IMAP folders respective, at least for now. I'll worry send later.

Initially, I left the empty root folder option. I also tried to put a "/" (single, slash, ignore the quotation marks) in there. No effect.

(Question on semi - the Pre does support multiple connections EE without getting confused? In general (on Win Mobile anyway), you can only have 1 per device. If it was an option on the Meadow, perhaps I could empty Domino in favour of another Exchange Server, but this would be a term much more time here, I hope with my IMAP question).

    Thanks for any help,

    Colin

It seems that you need a smtp server configuration that is valid for the step of the link set.  In the test here, if the SMTP connection is refused/incorrect login it will not create the account (verified by looking at the packet stream, newspapers of IMAP connection fine, SMTP connection refused, account refused on the Meadow).

So now, it seems that you need a valid SMTP server in order to create an account.
