Mailman / Mailinglists on El Capitan 10.11.3 possible?

I have to migrate the mail server, which is real running on MacOSX Server 10.6.8 to MacOSX 10.11.3 because vulnerability to DROWN-attack (OpenSSL a Postfix are too old versions).

The mail server offers just POP/SMTP/IMAP, Webmail and about 10 lists (and also iCal-Services).

Mailman 2.1.14 (Mailinglists) built into MacOSX-Server ist which is over now.

Is it possible to propose lists (Mailman?) with the Server 5 (MacOSX 10.11.3)?

Thank you for your help,

Peter.

Peter,

If you're used to Mailman, then your best bet is to simply install Mailman source it yourself and then migrate your existing lists from the old server. Mailman requires Python and an appropriate version of Python is included with OS X 10.11. You will also need Xcode to build.

HTH,

Alex

If you download above Yosemite from the Mac App Store, go to a physical Apple store and ask.

If you have done so, log in to the Mac App Store with the same Apple ID and click the purchases tab.

  • Problem starting el capitan (sierra) - built-in keyboard and the mouse do not respond

    Hello

I have a 2015 macbook pro (SSD 256, 16 GB of RAM last el capitan updated) with a wired problem.

I use it mainly to a cinema monitor and I use wireless keyboard and mouse (office installation program), and of course as a stand-alone laptop when I'm not at my desk.

When I put the laptop to sleep, everything works fine when I wake up.

but, if I'm away from the office and I have to restart my laptop, here is the problem.

The boot process is very very slow, there is no edge, and when I finally have the screen to unlock the safe, the keyboard and the touchpad do not react. Actually, that's not exactly true, they are so slow that they are unusable and get caught quickly, all gel. So I can't unlock and complete the boot. My laptop is unusable ;-(

At this point, I get a message that if I forgot my password I just need to reboot by pressing the power button, and I'll be able to reset it.

When I do this and aprΦs the dΘmarrage that more slowly than usual but ok, I get another screen with several options of problem solving. One of them is "keyboard not responding do not. When choosing this one, it asks if you want to remove safe. I tried and everything was back to normal.

later, I delivered safe and I had the same problem again. I did the thing to be able to restart again and improved to sierra in the hope that it would disappear. However, the problem is still there.

I thought I could try to restart my office to see if my keyboard and wireless mouse would still work. Indeed, even if responsiveness was not normal, I could unlock and fill the chest.

I have the impression that my laptop always "believe" it is on my desk, linked to my screen (probably the reason why I don't hear the Bell) and to my wireless K & M.

It's really annoying and I hope someone has a solution.

    Thank you very much

    best,

    Alex

I'm having a similar problem with macOS Sierra which I didn't have with El Capitan.  I can possibly move the cursor on the power button and turn off (no), but I must be patient because the keyboard and trackpad are only for a fraction of a second, which only allows me to move the mouse slightly.  After he stop and start back up, everything is perfect until I tried another reboot, and then I'm back to the beginning.

I tried to reinstall the operating system, reset the SMC, resetting the NVRAM, reboot in SafeMode... nothing worked so far.

  • Utility drive Mac Mini - El Capitan problem-

I've upgraded to the new OS El Capitan, and lost the function of a few programs that are important to me.

Is there a way to take a step back to something like Yosemite OS?

My main problem, as I type...

I record live music, and the end files are engraved on DVD-Audio (DVD-A) discs.  I used to drag the created DVD-A iso.image file in my disk utility window and ask for a burn it.

In El Capitan, there is no possibility to do this kind of disc burning.

In addition, El Capitan I cannot use my favorite audio playback software, gear, and play audio files FLAC.

So on top of my head, these two are the main grind for me and this new OS.

  • Just got an iMac nine to use domestic and it is incredibly slow

    Hello

I just got an iMac 2015 submitted for use in the home, and it is very slow. I just implemented this evening, and I found that even before you install anything but immediately after you set up the computer, it could slip. So I decided to continue to get the parameters of my set and when he continued to be very slow (beach balls, long for applications) to open, impossible to install Office, etc., I decided to run Etrecheck. Here are the results of my race:

It seems I have a problem with the RAM not enough, but I find it a bit ridiculous as 8 GB in a device from end of 2015 (for an expensive computer no less) isn't enough to run at least * somewhat * smoothly. This seems to have solved some problems, but as you can see, I run not really much at the moment other than Safari, which makes me fear. Has anyone else had problems of this kind? Is there a way to reduce the amount of memory used by El Capitan, or could I possibly downgrade to something like Yosemite? Or do I just have a defective machine?

    Thank you!

Memory is not the problem, OS X is not the problem, nor the computer the problem; It's the shit you have loaded on the computer. Here's a suggestion.

Install Yosemite or El Capitan, from scratch

Restart the computer. Immediately after that the chime hold down the command and R until the Apple logo appears. When the Utility Menu appears:

    1. Select utility disc in the Menu Utility, then click the continue button.
    2. When loading disk utility, select the volume (entered into withdrawal, usually Macintosh HD) in the list to one side.
    3. Click Delete in the main window of disk utility. A panel will fall.
    4. Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).
    5. Click on the apply button, then wait for the done button to activate and click on it.
    6. Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
    7. Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

[Exclusive to use the foregoing authorization to theratter by khati.]

This should install a new copy of Mac OS X on the computer. Now, install any third-party software and give the computer a few hours to complete Spotlight indexing during which the computer will run slowly. Then it check to see if it works OK. Do not install any third-party anti-malware or software equipment cleaning as you had installed before. You have not need software Path Finder, CleanMyMac or other MacPaw, Spotify, or stream. Part of the problem is the installation of the software that is not completely compatible that looks like DropBox. You may need an updated version.

There are different ways to set up the layout of mail and this was true even before versions of El Capitan, it is not possible to tell from your post exactly what you mean. However a major difference in appearance can be configured as follows and I suggest you to try to see if you are looking for, if not you can change it again.

    1. Go to the email preferences

  • Should I upgrade to the latest Mac OS?

So, here are the statistics of my iMac:

    21.5 inch, mid-2011

Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7

    Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics  AMD Radeon HD 6770 M 512 MB

I can't find any particular final answer, so if someone could help me with a Yes or no, that would be great. Thank you.

Your Mac is fully compatible with OS X El Capitan, so it's possible and even recommended that you update.

However, if you are comfortable with what you have now and if you do want to use the new features introduced in El Cap, well, you can skip this version.

Below you will find the General presentation of the OS X ElCapitan.

  • Best VPN for Mac Office-based network protocol Option

I do research of the solutions for the installation of a VPN to a position of up to 15 stations for a customer.  All stations are pimps and El Capitan OS X running.

I will implement a router Cisco VPN rv130.  I am to decide what the Protocol would be preferable to restrict in Cisco IPSec or OpenVPN using a third-party VPN client.

I look forward to any advice or ideas for better, safer solution.

    Thank you!

We usually install OpenVPN Access Server running in VirtualBox or ESXi at our customers and connect to the OD/AD. Put in VirtualBox on Mac is a very simple solution that just works. The integrated web portal is also very clever. $ 9 / user/year and a charge moderate for failing to manage everything you do when even (create and delete users in OD/AD)

Now; since El Capitan, it is not possible to install the client incorporated without disable SIP. Use TunnelBlick client if you do not want to disable SIP during the installation of OpenVPN.

  • Printing too big contacts dialog box

I'm on a MacBook Pro (late 2011), El Capitan running.  When I try to print from within the application, the print dialog box is so great that the bottom buttons are hidden behind the dock.  I know that I can move or hide the dock, but I find this solution a bit ridiculous because I've never had this problem before El Capitan.  Is it possible to manually reduce the size of the dialog box?

Hide the Dock. Take your cursor to the right until it turns into a double arrow. Drag upward until you get a satisfactory size. Display the Dock as you want.

  • Can I create a Multiboot USB from OSX installation?

I use a Mac Pro 2012 environment; run the Mavericks.  I want to create a Multiboot USB OS X installation disc using 1. Mavericks, 2. Yosemite, 3. El Capitan.  Is it possible to download copies separate installation 1. Mavericks, 2. Yosemite, 3. El Capitan?

If and only if you have already purchased the Mavericks and Yosemite, they will be available in the Mac App Store on your page "purchases". Otherwise, they died for you because they are not available for purchase as good as new.

There is no simple solution to combine several installers on a USB key. Install Mac OS X takes and hour or two, it seems not too heavy to simply take ten seconds to move the USB key to the appropriate version, and THEN perform the installation.

Most of the users in your situation spend less than US $100 each and buy several drives external (or internal, if you have a Mac Pro Silver Tower). Then, different versions of Mac OS X can be installed on each drive, and you can pass the boot DISKS and be upward and execution of different Mac OS X within two minutes about.

  • Can I move Lightroom between computers?

I use 3 computers: an iMac more old (LR5) and MacBook (LR3) in one place and one new iMac in another. I installed 5 LR in the new iMac, thinking I would then update the MacBook and LR5 in all three computers, but find that Adobe only allows you to put in two. So now I leave the new iMac to MacBook LR5 and put some LR6 into the new iMac (because I found the LR5 sliders etc. are * slow * in El Capitan). Is this possible move?

    Hi cruxrush,

Yes, you can uninstall the 5 Lightroom of the new iMac and install it on the Macbook.

You can buy 6 Lightroom and install it on the new iMac Machine.
