Make a CD or DVD if you have windows 7

I have windows 7 professional 64 bit. I like this windows much, but for a few essential things.

In previous versions of windows, there was a version of Windows Media Player that not only ripped CD but also you can make a CD. I would think that as and things, microsoft would be to create a version of windows where you can burn CDs and DVDs. I don't know why they took this great tool of WMP.

I might also add in my WMP library, not only the music but the video, photos.

I could also watch some video, but to do this now, you need a special codec. I have a codec that allows me to watch most of the videos I have, but some just won't play.

Then, they now have Windows Media Center. To be honest, what is that? Other than to let one add our pictures and video for windows media center and look at him, you can't do anything to a CD or DVD.

So, everyone must now get our own CD/DVD software burning? I did, and it works very well. But still, I liked the old versions of WMP, where we had a shopping stop. I used to use WMP to burn a CD to play in my car, but rarely use it now all the time. I just got too frustrated when I had to download the video and then try to burn on a CD and a headache. I went through the whole process to burn a CD, add video files, I wanted to and then click on burn and rather get an error message WMP cannot burn. What?

I don't even want to know what they did with windows 10...

Can anyone shed light on other ways to make a (real) CD (not a drag and drop) or how to do this in windows 7?

Thanks in advance.

Win10 has already been installed?

Is this the same computer - not the same problem - as in one or more of these previous threads of yours?...

I've never had problems before with [MS Outlook? Outlook.com?]. Yesterday November 11 [2015] early evening when I would try to read an email, I would get a message that says "windows has encountered an error and needs to close" and everything would be closed.

  • Do you have Windows 10 Reset 'Steal' Acrobat?

I had Acrobat 7 or 8 Pro about a dozen years. I bought Acrobat 9 Pro upgrade on January 12, 2009 new egg and active, using the serial number of the previous version, as required to activate the new version. The product is beautiful for 7 years and more, all on the same PC to large digital storm. Windows 10 has not been kind to me and I had to reset yesterday, knowing that he would get rid of my software, but keep my files. The reset worked very well and today I reinstall all my software.

I reinstalled Acrobat 9 Pro with success, since I was always the serial number for the upgrade. Unfortunately, at the start, is now applying for Pro 9 serial number and that of the former. I don't think that would happen, but he did. I must admit that I tend to keep the old stuff more time as I should. I kept probably in Acrobat 7 or 8 Pro (and serial number) for 4-5 years after I upgraded, but I've moved three times, and go. Meanwhile, Adobe 'knew' I was a factory of valuation qualified, that it will not let me update everything that came out on the product until it was no longer in charge. In addition, users at Adobe startup accounts, he lets me not register the product. He never asked the old product serial number to register the product.

Sorry for the long initialization sequence, but I lost 20 minutes on Chat with Yoosuf before he wrote that I would have kept the serial number of the software from 10 to 12 years. He told me that the Experts in the Forum will be able to help. I hope he's right. I can't be the first what happened, but I can't find an answer in a research forum. Help!

I have not mentioned before that the answer seemed Moody and snobby. But maybe it's ok IF we're right.

In this case, the answer was wrong. Instead of finding that there is no hope that John T. Smith wrote, an insider of Microsoft friendly Forum today gave me a link to an Adobe website which provides generic keys for just this situation. For those that might help here is what he writes, followed by the link (the word here isn't a link):

"Adobe stop the activation server for several older products, including Acrobat 7.   Knowing that people should perhaps reinstall the program at any given time, they provided download links and generic product keys, essentially turning the programs of the free versions.   The download link is here.   When you click on the desired language, you will see a list of programs with the generic key for each.  You will need to create an account with Adobe to do this, but it's painless.   You should be able to install Acrobat 7, then use your upgrade product key and the media to install the latest version. »

  • Why do my window media work center must you have windows 7?

I paid for the full version of windows media center. Now, all I get is disabled and unable to launch application. Doesn't seem fair. All I get is info on the 7.Not... right from windows. Explain.

    Hello Aly

Not sure if you need help with window or Media Center, but you can try the following steps.
    For Windows:
    Scan of the SFC
Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow or continue.
At the command prompt, type sfc/scannow and press ENTER.
Once the scan is complete, restart the computer so that the changes take effect.
    Windows Media Center:
    Reset the WMC
    1. open the control panel configuration/programs and features.
    2. click on "Turn Windows features on or off" in the left pane.
    3. expand "Multimedia functions", uncheck 'Windows Media Player '. Click 'Yes' to continue and click OK to exit. Then restart.
  • I have windows XP, 32-bit service pack 3 (or4?) IE8. What and when will support end of various programs, if I do not get windows 7?

I can't really afford to upgrade to windows 7 now, or buy a new computer (it is 6 years old), so what do I expect?

Support for Windows XP is already completed.  To (security only patches) extended support until June of 2014, when it is entirely not taken in charge.  With regard to "programs" I don't know what you're asking - we don't know, and there is no context to make a good estimate.  If you have Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Internet Explorer 8 is installed, you also update you're going to get (except of course to keep installation monthly security updates from Microsoft).

  • have windows on Vista Developer, tried to install Windows DVD maker but doesn't seem to work, cannot publish the movie on DVD HELP

I have the windows Director, went to Microsoft and tried to download Windows DVD maker but does not appear to have installed despite me try it 3 times, all I want to do is publish a movie!

On Vista, Windows DVD Maker requires that you have Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.  If you have one of these versions, you should already have Windows DVD Maker and Windows Movie Maker 6.0.  These versions of Windows Vista are required to have copies under license from MPEG-2 to make a video DVD.

I was not aware of a separate installer for Windows DVD Maker, so I suspect you look at something of a 3rd site part. If it is a Microsoft site, can provide you the address you use?

  • What type of DVD should I buy to burn my Windows Movie Maker movie? Also, I have Windows DVD Maker, but no DVD burner. What should I buy?

I created a movie in Movie Maker.  I bought some DVD + r's - the correct burn the movie on?  Also, I don't have a burner, I thought that I did, I can only burn a CD what should I buy?  I don't have a Windows DVD authoring program.

    Hi rondah,.

Welcome to the Microsoft community newsgroups.

The type of recordable DVD, you need to use depends on your DVD burner, as well as on your DVD player. Some DVD burners can burn only to certain types of DVD recordable. For example, with some DVD burners, you can only record to DVD + R discs or DVD + RW or DVD-R or DVD - RW discs, while some other DVD burners will let you burn on all of these recordable DVD types.

As long as your DVD burner supports burning to these types of discs, you can use Windows DVD creation to burn a DVD using one of the following types of recordable and re-recordable DVD media: DVD + R, DVD + RW, DVD - R, DVD - RW, and DVD - ROM. These recordable or rewritable DVDs can be either simple single laminate or single sided double layer.

You should also consider the device you're using to play the DVD once you have engraved, if possible. Some DVD players and DVD - ROM drives play only certain types of DVD. To determine what types of DVDs your DVD player or DVD - ROM drive can play, see the documentation that came with your device or go to the manufacturer's Web site.

  • I HAVE WINDOWS VISTA AND THE SIMS 2 ON MY COMPUTER BUT I TRIED TO INSTALL THE SIMS 3 BUT NOTHING HAPPENED! (CAN YOU BE RETURNED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!)

I INSTALLED THE SIMS 2 DELUX, SIMS 3 PETS AND SIMS 2 APARTMENT LIFE. I GOT SIMS 3 PUT HIM IN THE HARDRIVE HE RAN, BUT THE MESSAGE GAME NEVER TO SAY IF I WANT TO RUN IT HELP! PLEASE

    P.S. I HAVE WINDOWS VISTA

    THANKS X

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.

Well first thing to note - if you have Windows Vista, it is a forum for Windows 7, then you might have more luck in the Vista forum.  But second, you noted that you have installed the SIMS 2 Deluxe and the Sims 2 Apartment life and the SIMS 3 pets.  There are no SIMS 3 pets yet (only SIMS 2 Pets).  So who could have thrown people.

So now REALLY tell you putting a SIMS 3 disc in?  If so, you must install the program first and sometimes automatic execution does.  You can, however, open a Windows Explorer (press the Windows key, key with the Windows Logo on it, down and self-tapping letter E - keep the E or you'll have a whole bunch of windows to the top).

Then go to your CD/DVD drive and double-click it.  It can start the car then run.  If not, then you can right click on the drive icon and select EXPLORER and then find the file named SETUP.  If you don't see what he, or see the files, then make sure you have a valid PC version of the game and do not have a MAC version (my kids have committed this error several times while getting the library software).

See if none of this helps and then after return. Bob Larson Access MVP

  • Can I use Movie Maker? I have Windows XP

I want to take my kids VHS movies and edit, combine and create a DVD. I have Windows XP. Can I use Movie Maker?

You will need to use a DV camera to import into Movie Maker. An alternative would be to use a tuner / capture card to record from a VCR using the tuner (or Media Center, if you have one) software.

  • You have no more of the cutting tool...

I had trouble with Vista a few months ago and microsoft fixed it for me I have to reinstall vista. However, I think that they me demoted to Vista Basic, when I had Vista Premium. First of all, it got rid of a lot of programs that I need. How would return those? Second, how would upgrade to Premium without paying for it (again!)?

You get what you had originally, HomePremium, by contacting the manufacturer of the computer.

Vista Media recovery obtaining and/or using the Vista recovery on your computer Partition to factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
