I sometimes get a popup of malware which forces me to restart my mac mini to get rid of it. This happens on chrome or firefox. What would you recommend I do? Thank you

I have continuous advertising popups everywhere in firefox. I've traveled through the procedures of withdrawal:
    No programs to uninstall

I ran Adware Remover, then the JunkWare Removal Tool, then Malware Bytes, then Hitman. Nothing did, the ads are still there. Only in Firefox.

Make a check of malware with several malware scanning of programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.
All of these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

Alternatively, you can write a check for an infection rootkit TDSSKiller.

    Hi engrbill47, remove Plus-HD - 1.2.

You will need to remove via the Control Panel, uninstall a program. By clicking on the column heading "installed on" will bring the more recent articles up and group by time of installation, so that you can see if it was part of a set of other unwanted software.

  • Cannot remove malware: popups, downloads, advertising links .pkg

    Hello world

I followed the instructions for the removal of malicious software on multiple threads here without success and then tried to use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac - which did not work.

    A summary of the issues:

    1. I get a new tab for Mac Advanced Cleaner opening-

the link is in the competence of parens:

    (http://www.advancedmaccleaner.com/mr/4/?utm_source=mrtmacg&utm_campaign=mrtmacg& pxl = MRT253_MRT243_RUNT & utm_pubid = 831638 & x-context = for_9a25a440e496450ab1ff7d7b15 a 410, 29)

2 color links appear on all the sites I visit. Sometimes the links appear in capital letters, sometimes links have a small green arrow at the top right of the word.

Roll on the link brings up a message: continue continue > to advertise
And and sometimes a popup ad by "Ad Set."

The links go to a url that starts with: http://s.iktmmny.com/

You don't have to click on them - seems that simply reversal opens the window for Advanced Mac Cleaner.

    3. without clicking on any one of these bad links - a .pkg guard automatically, download file

    the file name is:

    amc_rb_mrtmacg.pkg

I move the file to the Recycle Bin without opening and empty the trash secure.

  • Malware blocking safe mode/updates / filevault

Hi, I ran into an annoying malware that seems to be the "Iworm" malware that was happening in recent years.

Problem is, it seems to be more advanced.

The malware blocked me to perform updates get queued vault OFF so that I can switch to secure mode (also tried via the terminal entering safe mode, but it prevents me to enter my password) and if it leaves an antivirus running it not to revert to what either. I searched my library folder and discovered I had the JavaW folder in Application Support. But there is no files in the folder JavaW there is empty (apparently). I also looked through the LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons folders and saw nothing about JavaW in them. In addition to this when turned on the computer, it made connect me twice and made for some time. But yesterday, I changed my password and the first time he asks me to log in I can only connect using my old password - and then the second password is updated? Im not sure whats going on with it, but thought it was worth mentioning. Also, it does not recognize the USB devices connected, so I can't back up my files or run your antivirus software from a USB. Oh and he blocked me to change the keyboard backlight and has locked volume turned off as well.

I can generally understand such things, but I have spent nearly 24 hours of research directly, but came up empty. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Please find attached my system specs.

Yes, so either you have malicious software, or something has changed your homepage.

What you can try. (I advise you to follow these steps in the order)

1 reset your default home page.

    • Press the ALT on your keyboard in Firefox, then click Tools > Options.
    • Go to "Général" and click on "Restore default" under Startup.
    • Then close and reopen Firefox and see if the malware popup always appears.

2 look for malware on your computer and malicious Add-ons on Firefox.

    • Press ALT on your keyboard and click on tools > Add-ons.
    • Sweep your list of Add-ons for those unfamiliar or suspicious, then click on 'Remove' or 'Disable' next to them if you find them.
    • Download Extension Defender (an add-on on the Mozilla Add-ons page).
    • Open it and find the Firefox malware, in case you missed some dangerous Add-ons while watching on your page of modules.
    • Download Malwarebytes Anti-malware.
    • Install it from the installation file that you downloaded.
    • Once installed, open the program, update the database, then run a scan with it for malware on your computer. The program will remove malware for free. (Feel free to uninstall Malwarebytes, once you have finished using it)

3 reset Firefox, which can resolve a number of issues which you can't fix it with Firefox.

    • Type of topic: support in address browser bar and hit enter on your keyboard.
    • Once you reach the page, click on "reset Firefox... ».

Note: this will reset your Firefox addons, preferences, etc.

I hope I can solve your problem!

  • Spider Solitaire not executable Win7

While trying to get rid of some malware (popups ilivid.com) I ran a few different programs AV (Malawarebytes and AVG2013) and then did a system cleanup with CCleaner for some flotsam and jetsam, who also got rid of cookies, history, and temporary files.  I did it before with no problems other than having need to repopulate my unwanted cookies and history.  However this time, all my games in Windows 7 has stopped working.  They might load, but before that I can play, I get a message that indicates that the executable "for (any game) has stopped working.  I searched the internet for solutions, and I see a lot of people have had this problem in the past, but so far nothing works.  I tried disable Windows games, restart my computer, and then run these games Windows again, but no change.  I tried running sfc/scannow and it says everything is fine.

The games worked well before, so I can't imagine what has changed now.  In "Browser games", it is said that my current system has a score of 3.4, which should be quite graphically and with respect to speed and power.  Maybe somewhere I have deleted or damaged something?  This is not a new system, and they were working fine up until yesterday.

I am running Win7 Pro 64-bit with service pack 1.  And ilivid.com popups are always there when I use Chrome :(

You could try a system restore to a restore point before you have run CCleaner.

  • El Capitan checks for virus/malware infections in the system?

El Capitan checks for virus/malware infections in the system?

There is so much discussion on the iMac does not require does no antivirus, because it is well protected. On the other hand, horses Trojan seems to get their way in a system through vulnerabilities in browsers or other applications. Is there a way to know the State of health without having to pay for a subscription and the loading of the system with the external scanners and controllers as the extra load of the system?

Yes, Mac OS X has built-in protection that is updated regularly (in the background). You don't need any other software.

Adware and malicious software is different. If Safari is supported with pop-ups,

Quit the Apple Safari > force quit menu. Relaunch Safari since the Dock icon while holding the SHIFT key.

  • Got a popup to install the new version of Adobe Updater - is legitimate, or software malware?

Auto Adobe Updater wants to install a new version of itself.  Does not say what Adobe product, it relates to.  Everything I have on this laptop are the freebies - Reader, Flash, etc.  I don't know if there is an update, or several, one for each product.  I usually trust these popups, so I said 'yes '.  Then, I searched for "Adobe" C drive and found nothing newer than March 3.  My Updater version is still 5.  Nothing else happened, but while studying online, I found an update 'critical' to the reader was announced last month, and I have not yet.  So, I got manually 8.2.1, Reader then installed 9.3.1 later instead.  Called Adobe to see if these updates to the Updater are distributed, and they said «we do not support free software, go to the forums»  Therefore, even if my version is still 5, updater, never up to date me for an updated critical and I have no new files, I can trust that this popup was not for the distribution of malware?  Someone else do this popup?

If you set up Adobe Reader to receive automatic updates, then it is this update (5 or 6) that opens like this.  Unfortunately, it doesn't tell you what update is about to download; only after download, it tells you what it installs.

However, your attention is well founded; not sure if this is a legitimate process, or some kind of malware.

Assuming you are using Windows, open the Task Manager and check if it really is the Adobe Updater that runs (AdobeUpdater.exe or AdobeUpdaterInstallMgr.exe).
