Malware scam. Help?

Hello

I am new to owning a Macbook of any kind (August 2015) and today I got a pop up appears with a message of Malware. At the time, I did not stop to think, and of course, I called the number. They asked if I have my computer for a little less than a year (I said yes) and the man I spoke told me to check my firewall. Finally, he offered to sell me a firewall. I declined and said if I really need it that I would buy it in person in an Apple store when I had the chance.

I saw on another thread, written by John Galt, on how to get rid of the annoying message and how it said not to call the number, but I didn't see this thread until after I already had. After reading the post on this subject, I cleared my history on Google Chrome (all that I use) as I am that the saved passwords. Is there something else I should be aware of and should do?

As long as you did not access remotely to your Mac, as with TeamViewer or LogMeIn, you don't need to do anything. You can receive more random calls now from the crooks who think that having a patsy on the line.

  • iMac, blocked by malware.  Help please!

This morning I was using all my usual internet links (Facebook, hotmail and a hotel site), and suddenly a window popped up almost directly after my iMac froze & the window OS Support popped up immediately followed by another indefinable window saying my iMac was blocked and had been infected with malware and a virus.  I stop everything, including my internet connection.  I then rang the published phone number.

Earlier, I restarted my Mac & internet - same thing happens again so I rang the number again and it turns out not to be Apple, quite probably the company that owns the malware trying to get US $150 to remove malicious software and viruses.  They said they were resting in the States.

I'm not very good with the workings of the Apple - I actually have no idea what to do.  My AppleCare had expired and he is demanding $ 39 just to talk with the Apple Support!  I paid $99 for this AppleCare & have never used once before.

    Help, please!

    Hello CK64,

It is probably just adware. It is becoming quite common.

I wrote a small diagnostic program to help show what adware is installed. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etrecheck.com, run it and paste the results here. EtreCheck is perfectly safe to run, don't request your password to install and is signed with my developer Apple ID.

If adware is installed, EtreCheck will help remove you, although you may need to provide a password. If you are not comfortable with that, just after the report of EtreCheck here and other AIDS can tell you exactly which files should be deleted and the way to do it.

WARNING: Although EtreCheck is free, there are other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.

  • Uniblue and very dangerous virus/malware scam

I was doing an internet speed test and saw an advert for Uniblue and noticed that is called with Microsoft. I thought it would be safe to trust Microsoft Word. After the purchase of their product, there are several Trojan, carries horses stolen downloaders, etc.. This Uniblue it's complete bullshit. I can't believe that Microsoft would use their name. This opens my eyes to the point where even Microsoft can't be trusted. The fake anti virus will take over your machine and modify your registry to block any attempt to clean your computer. The fake virus 'Vista anti-virus 2011' will constantly you spam with false reports, while continuing to edit your registry database and other information. It also comes with a bunch of malicious software that steals your personal information such as credit card information, social security, etc. I want to know is which Microsoft intends to do about it? Or just do, they want money and can care, since this will lead to poorly informed customers to buy more security with Microsoft. At this point, I think even to use a Mac. This is the type of betrayal, that a company like Microsoft will put on its customers? This virus is very difficult to remove, usually requiring a complete reformat. If anyone knows what I'm not talking about spreading this news.

I would like to add the following:

In March of this year, I purchased Registry Booster and System Tweaker Uniblue.  I used it once and now it will not open again.  I tried to get decent help on their part for the past 3 or 4 weeks without success.  They continue to send the instructions includes 20 measures to this end.  I did what he told me and the software won't work.  I asked for a refund, but they have a stupid policy of 60 days.  I came to the conclusion that society Uniblue is nothing more than a scam.

  • address problem complete

I don't know if I'm looking at the right place, but maybe someone can help with information.

Previous Verizon DSL, now Frontier DSL for about 2 months (they bought Verizon).

Until this morning, by entering the url of all that was needed was enough information (ie: "Amazon" for amazon.com.) ("drudge" for drudgereport.com, etc.) then FF would complement the address and ".com", ".net", etc., and then I went to the desired location.

However, this do when used, rather than fill in the address and arrive at my destination, I would be redirected to a "Yahoo search assist border" page where I could then click on the result and get on the site, I desired. Only by typing the entire URL could bypass the redirect.

I checked to see if my "true/false" for FF have been in operation required and they were. Scan virus Ran and came clean so contacted technical support online frontier, since Yahoo is the partner of their research and I continued to meet at the border home page.

After pulling up from my account, the rep online (they have only one, only ONE, for the entire online tech support staff) told me that he has never heard of just by typing in keywords for addresses and that he STILL had to enter in all of the thing.

    O.o

Then, he suggested I do a Google search for my problem.

    o.O

Zero I cancelled the session online and called to the 24/7 phone support. At the time where my account information were fired upward with the phone rep, that the problem has disappeared as if by magic.

    O.O

So my questions. Was it a coincident temporary bug with FF (I'm a beta tester crash test dummy), a bug not taken with my virus/malware scams or... Path of the border to distract me from Yahoo to generate advertising revenue.

The calendar shows the third option, it's the first and only time this has happened since the online in 2003, but before we get IN. with Frontier, I felt I needed more information.

    Thanks in advance!

I couldn't find specific information on the border, but many ISPS have begun to use a 'area of assistance Service' for stealing web addresses which do not solve exactly as you typed them. You should ask them how you can unsubscribe from this service.

  • Creepy or not?

A message popped up on my iPhone 6 today by saying "you must change your access code in the 44 minutes". I changed and then in the settings and changed immediately go back to my old and also changed my password to iCloud. I have no work e-mail server or all profiles set up on my phone. Anyone know if it's malware? Help please!

It is a scam. Whence the pop-up message? In Safari? So then close Safari completely away from the multitasking window and clear the cache. Then change the password to something new again.

Close Safari completely from the multitasking window by double clicking the Home button and slide up the preview pane of Safari until it disappears from the display. You may need to search the Safari part covering scribbles to the left as it can be elsewhere there are other applications. Then go to settings > Safari > clear the history and data from the Web site. Then perform a forced reboot. Hold down the home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds , until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it rises. You won't lose anything.

  • too many updates to firefox

In the last two months I get Firefox update notifications in the lower right of my desktop.

When you click on some of these updates, with different numbers or versions, my computer is infected with programs that I don't want. There is NO option to not get these unwanted programs.

So I don't know if they are of real updates to Firefox, or not.

I wonder if Mozilla you aware of this... because, for my part, I will not tolerate this kind of activity.

If you get other software bundled with a Firefox "update" is malware or a third-party program, not Firefox.

Troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware can help, also go through your list of installed programs and see if there is anything in the sense of "update" (r) it and remove it. Firefox never updates appear in the lower right corner, so it's something else.

  • Given the number of messages, impossible to find a solution to my "untrusted connection".

A Firefox a week ago and have been struggling with this problem since. 99% of the sites I visit have the "untrusted connection". I have tried the solutions such as playing with the settings of proxy and using anti-piqures malware to help clean up my computer, what could be the problem?

Yes, uninstall, sendori - it's just useless adware that is intercepting all the traffic on your network. You can also run a full scan of your system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to ensure that adware is not present in other parts of your system as well.

  • Someone called the Aztec media was implying in my Firefox browser. Who are and how to restore the traditional firefox home page?

A company called Aztec Media was implying in my Firefox browser. I tried to download Firefox again, but it remains incorporated. He has an extremely irritating House but, more seriously, I think he broke my security.

Aztec media seems to be based in Cyprus, I have no idea where they came from.

I suggest an analysis of comprehensive anti-malware running on your system. Download http://www.malwarebytes.org/ Malwarebytes and a scan of your system. You can run a scan in safe mode.

I suspect that you have ad-ware on your computer which forces Firefox to change its home page every time it starts.

    Running an anti-malware analysis helped?

He recommended a freeware program and I have chosen it. Now there deativated several functions; That is to say, the the Task Manager, System Restore, etc. How can I remove it?

This is not a Microsoft program.  It is a rogue security program that copies the appearance of a Microsoft program.

If you want to try to remove it yourself, first run a scan with your anti-virus and anti-spyware.  Next, download and run these programs:
