• Smartphone blackBerry Storm performance issues (and suggestions)

  I want to start and say that I don't like my phone.  When it works (which is most of the time), it works fine.

  But there are certainly problems of software.  As a software engineer, the OS has some memory serious management problems.  This seems to cause most of the problems I'm having with the phone.  I'm running the latest Verizon S/W (v4.7.0.148).

  Problem #1:

  I am a paranoid person.  There are a lot of personal information on my phone, I have currently international calls helped that I need this feature.  So to protect me my phone is locked when it is the case or after a period of inactivity time.  It is a good practice.  Part of the draw to the fate of the Blackberry is the security that you can configure on the device (I'm not paranoid enough to allow all the protections of encryption - yet).  Problem of the storm is that it can take 1 to 5 minutes to get the phone unlocked when unholstering.  It is not an exaggeration.  As the performance of the memory gets worse, time takes more time.  If I had to make an emergency call, it could be the difference between life and death.  5 minutes is a long time to wait to call 911.  This must be corrected!

  Problem #2:

  The phone must be "reset" once a day to remember "lost."  It is just poor programming.  I don't know if this problem of BB OS or Apps I'm running, but in both cases, this isn't fair.  After the reboot if I go to the display of memory under options I could have about 3-5 MB of free memory.  After a few hours of use, this will almost always '0 '.  I installed MemoryUp Pro, which seems to have extended the period of time between the battery grips, but I still don't think we should ask all owners of BB Storm to pull there battery once a day.  The other answer I get is "do not run so many Apps.  I get all my applications when finished.  Are the only ones that I continue to turn: Blackberry Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk and Google Maps (Latitude).  Other applications running, you can't get out (phone, browser).  I tried doesn't work is not the 'optional' tricks and performance has not really much better.

  Problem #3:

  Missed calls.  This is probably related to problems of memory above, but if the storm can be used as a phone, then I should buy something else.  Although the occurrence of this problem has gone down because I installed MemoryUp Pro and perform the reset once a day, sometimes still about 1 to 5 times.  It takes so long for the phone to 'wake up' when a call comes in (especially if it is holstered), at the time where I hit "Answer", a call has been Messaging voice or even worse, the phone doesn't ring at all.  All I get is a notification of appeal lacks the 'unknown number '.

  Problem #4:

  Battery performance could be improved.  The battery that comes with the storm has about 24 hours on 24 with the Radio and Bluetooth.  Really, this isn't a problem if you know it.  I solved the problem by buying a 2700 mAh battery for extended life of BoxWave I use when traveling.  Makes the storm bit bulky, it will give me 2-3 days of life.  I don't know how this could be improved if not

  I hope that the developers of RIM are trying to solve some of these performance issues.  Certain tasks should be a higher priority as they seem to have (like phone & Unlock).

• Slow serious performance issues and causing VDR integrity checks

  I'm pretty experienced with VMware and VDR.  My unit VDR version is 1.2.0.1131.  I am backup on a Windows Storage Server (R2 2003) who has two 500 GB partitions that are shared using the default value in Windows (CIFS) sharing mechanism.  VDR, I have two destinations that simply access the network shares (two partitions of 500 GB on the storage server).

  Run the backup and restore is good.  However, integrity checks complete not only take a long time (up to 24 hours) but cause the storage server to be so callous that other tasks like data restores, must wait until the integrity checks complete.

  The storage server uses the SATA drives and so I hope that the simple answer to this is not just update more quickly when you run disk technology.

  Research on similar issues, it seems that I have some options to try.

  I can't answer your question. Personally, I would like to make the storage server on the Windows network file server. A work. that it is really good. I would look for another storage device. I don't know the rest of your infrastructure. If you have a SAN I would look for something to compliment it. Replication comes to mind. If you do not have a SAN there are many NAS devices. Choose a budget amount and start searching. You can also use a server that matches your business listing and fill it with the readers. You can install a standard linux distribution and enable the native NFS server. A configuration to a single line is all it takes. You can add management Open-e, Starwind, FreeNAS software.

  Hi all, I have a new rn204 I have some problems with.

  my current setup is:
  ReadyNAS 204 6.5.1
  3 x red new WD 3 to x-raid 25% free
  1 x 1 GB link to router (asus rtn66u)

  the first issue I see is intermittent from speed in transfer large files. Normal performace is about 110 MB/s, which is to saturate the line but I saw at random speeds fall at 100 kb/s

  2nd edition: ping the IP address of the nas are often 50%, 75%, 100% of loss on 4 pings. most of the time it's good, but sometimes not.
  3rd edition: the nas has been itself reassign to an ip at random in the range 169.254.x.x 192.161.57 about once per day, I configured for a static ip address but conectivity will die (can't ping and the router can not see) every day or almost.

  usually the problems disappear if I pull (good quality cat6) ethernet cable in the back and reconnect it.
  Sometimes this also pushed (or worse) transfer speeds if they are slow.

  I think there is a problem with the NETWORK card hardware.

  My database on Oracle 11.2.0.2 on Linux. We have Oracle implemented for the fuzzy search. Our oracle text indexes are defined as sync on commit that we cannot afford to have stale data.  Now our application done literally thousands of inserts/modifications/deletions of these columns where we have these Oracle text index defined. Thus, we see a significant impact on performance because the oracle text synchronization routines is called on each commit. We do nightly index optimization (optimization full every night at 3:00).  The text index oracle internal operations are appearing at the top of the sql page in our AWR report and fears it causes a lot of load on the DB.  Since we do optimization of the complete index once during the night, I think I should change that, and if I do, he's going to help us?

  It's to you which values you want to experiment.  Since 1 G, which is the same as 1024M is the maximum I could try that assigning to an index and see what effect it has.  You can use the same AWR report that you used previously and compare performance.  To determine when paging depends on your operating system and what tools you have.  Another option might be to use TRANSACTIONAL, that allows searching for unsynchronized lines and allow you to synchronize every five minutes, like Herald suggested, without any latency problem.  You can read about it here (scroll down to transaction):

  I use InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator also throughout the day.

  SETUP

  -Intel i7 - 3770K @ 3, 5 GHz

  -16 GB Crucial RAM

  -NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

  -WDC WD1000DHTZ-04N21V0 1 to 10 k RPM 64 MB cache SATA drive at 6 GB/s (internal)

  I have not yet attributed this player for something specific

  -WDC WD5000HHTZ-04N21V1 500 GB 10 k RPM 64 MB Cache SATA drive with 6 GB/s (internal)

  It's my drive disk OS, applications, files of work and scratch

  -Software: Win7, WAA CC (not this latest version, there were issues, we had to go back to the previous version).

  WEAKNESSES

  1 RAM is small, I put at level 32 GB this week.

  2. video card is pretty low, but I rarely use first so maybe ok for now?

  3 discs: do you think that improving an SSD for OS and Adobe CC?

• HP Elitebook 8570p - Windows XP USB very slow and the transfer rate performance issues.

  Hello. I was wondering if anyone else knows some performance issues with the HP Elitebook 8570p and Windows XP Pro - SP3.

  I get a VERY slow start, general poor performance (waiting time when opening files and programs).

  I asked to burn in tests that show that everything is good.

  USB transfer rates are VERY slow (tried all ports of a Seagate FreeAgent USB drive, which works fine on other laptops etc.) for example a 30-minute transfer a 7gig single file of the USB HD on the desktop. Only 3 minutes to do the same on another laptop.

  I think there are problems with the drivers, like Windows 7 works very well and does boot from a bootable USB.

  USB transfer rate are also good when starting from a Windows boot environment.

  I installed HP SoftPaq Download Manager, and all the drivers are up to date.

  I think outside of the box here... Select the Intel (r) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller instead.

  If it does not, I raise the white flag.

  There are restrictions on how the memory beyond 4 GB can be used by Oracle. As far as I know, the memory is reserved for the buffer cache.

  Not all memory below the 4 GB limit is available for programs. Some of this memory is laid out in memory of the device, such as the video cards, RAID cache on board, etc., and some of the memory Windows is needed to track the objects window, icons, etc. Although it is possible to back up 2 GB per process limit to 3 GB, making Windows limit to use for its own purposes the memory that remains after the memory is drawn to embedded devices, and I think that the Oracle Metalink site does not recommend trying to go up the by the limit process completely to 3 GB. And this low by the process boundary should be reserved for the memory window. Your current value of pga_aggregate_target should be checked, because there is no way that the apparent present value could enter into the available memory.

  I agree with Martin - the best way to take full advantage of the memory is to pass on a 64-bit platform. Most, if not all the memory limit headaches disappear on a 64-bit platform. Of Windows 2003 Standard edition supports up to 32 GB of memory, this could be an option for you. It may or may not be a huge effort, but this means system loss of time (which can be considered a reason to call it a huge effort). You will probably find that the server, if less then three years, will support a 64 bit version of the operating system, but check the 64-bit versions of all the drivers are available and consider replacing hard disks containing the operating system if you need to return to the current operating system.

• Adobe Air performance issues?

  I have recently finished a huge project in Adobe Muse and I love the new sensitive design tools. However, as the project continued to develop, Muse has become increasingly slow to react and interact with the sensitive cursor was almost impossible. As someone who worked for Apple, I'd be the first person to point the finger my Mac and offer to buy a new computer, but it is a new, maxed-out MacBook Pro 15 inches. All other Adobe CC applications work without problem. When Muse was first published, as I remember, it was written on top of the Adobe AIR platform, instead of being natively written in C++. That this has something to do with performance issues that I see? If so, is there something I can do to improve performance, I see?

  Air is not basis for Muse more for a long time. Nativly revised muse was released in early 2014.

  In my view, the Muse team works actively on performance boosts, but I think that we should not expect any miracle: no other application I know not a calculate and display real-time changing dynamically and the same objects interactively from time on endless pages in response.

  In my opinion, the only way to significantly increase the speed would be gray on all goods during the move of the scrubber.

• Performance issues with Photoshop CS6 64-Bit

  Hello-

  Issue at hand: in recent weeks, I noticed significant problems with performance since the last update PS CS6 using the Adobe Application Manager, from the unexpected shut downs to bring my computer to a crawl (literally, my cursor seems to crawl on my screens). I'm curious to know if anyone knows these issues, or if there is a solution I have not yet tried. Here is a list of actions that give rise to these performance issues - there are probably more that I have not experienced due to my frustration, or were not documented as occurring several times:

  • Opening files - results by hanging processes, takes 3-10 seconds to solve
  • Paste from the Clipboard - results by hanging processes, takes 3-10 seconds to solve
  • Saving files - takes 3-10 seconds to open the dialog box, another 3 to 10 seconds to return to the normal window (saving an image PNG compressed)
  • The eyedropper tool - will crash Photoshop on the desktop, or take 5 to 15 seconds to load
  • Try to navigate any menu - Photoshop crash on the office or take 5 to 15 seconds to load

  Attempts I took to solve this issue, which failed:

  • Uninstalled all fonts I have added since the last update (it's a pain in the *, thanks to be glitch Windows Explorer)
    
  • Uninstall and reinstall the application
  • Edition 32-bit use
  • Change process priority to above normal
  • Confirm the process for all available cores of the processor affinity
  • Change the configuration of the performance of Photoshop options
    • 61% of memory is available to Photoshop to use (8969 MB)
    • History States: 20; Cache levels: 6; Tile cache size: 1024K
    • Records of work: active on the production of SSD, ~ 10GB of available space
    • Dedicated graphics processor is selected (2 x nVidia cards in SLI)

  System information:

  • Intel i7 2600 K @ 3.40 GHz
    
  • 16 GB of RAM Dual Channel DDR3 memory
  • 2 x nVidia GeForce GTS 450 cards, 1 GB each
  • Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
  • Adobe Creative Cloud

  This problem is cost me time that I work every day, and I'm about to start looking for alternatives and cancel my subscription if I can't get this resolved.

  I am currently working on a system with a not very good architecture (in my opinion) and I'm trying to find arguments to convince others that my way is better (or convince me that my way is not so good :)).
  
  the big questions is like this: where we have two DBs, one is used by an OLTP system and the other is used by a lot of system with the huge amount of data and with full of the treatment table scan, one has all the data in the second but the second needs of almost all of the data from the first (FTS) We would have these two systems on the same DB, or we have to separate it on separate DBs. so the huge FTS will interact with the system of LINKS, it will extract the necessary data through links db and that the work itself? (here I think I can I be hurt. all FTS makes the DB OLTP DB batch, will first load the blocks in the buffer cache OLTP move data to DB links and put the data in batch DBs buffer cache. correct?)
  
  Current situation:
  
  We have two databases: CUST (customers) and RATE (calls).
  -CUST has table of contracts, their contact information, addresses, many tales (REF. system_settings), the configuration of payments. There are approximately 200 k customers with their related details and configuration tables have about 200 lines.
  
  -DB RATE has the table of CALLS that has about 100 000 records of millet
  
  The DBs communicate with each other using the links to the DB and they are on the same machine
  
  
  -On CUST DB, we have an OLTP system like (this uses all the data rate): creations, payments contracts... etc.
  -The db RATE, we have the SCORING module that runs continuously with large amounts of data. the RATE DB must almost all tables from CUST: plenty of table via DB link.
  
  It is a billing system for telephony.
  
  This architecture was made way back and the idea was to have several CUST DBs and for every CLIENT to have a DB RATE. We did not get the point of having several DBs CUST and I think now we have other means to scale: CARS.
  
  Would not a better idea to combine these two, so we won't have problems with the expectations of links DB, with statistics CBO about the DB links, with plans of exec on the routes of the DB with the fact that some (all CUST DB) data are used for the two DBs.
  
  I think that the FTS on tables CUST by TARIFF process will not be a big problem, because the pads are already in the cache of the stamps because of the actions of OLTP. But what of the FTS on the huge table of CALLS? This will interfere with the rest of the system; It will be a good idea to put the huge table in different caches?

  But the opposite is also true. This really depends on the applications involved, and how capable of hardware you buy. With a dedicated instance, you can make sure that a few buffer cache and shared pool resource are reserved for a specific application and other requirements aren't hogging resources Oracle.

  Like I said how management decisions on how the material is acquired and replaced is a big part of the decision. I had the pleasure of working in a store where no hardware upgrades take place until either the risk of death of material has been sensitive to people who just walked by the hardware. Upgrades for more capacity was not held until you reach 100% and stay there. The customer has been notified before capacity is reached, but until performance problems were obvious and consistent without upgrades were allowed.

  The DBA can work with what he or she is given, and under the constraints of those who pay the Bills. There is no way that is good for everyone. What works best for a store and a set of applications is perhaps not what is more practical or better at another store. If I run an ERP system, I want a large database. If I'm under nine products of the seller so I probably want an instance for each. Given the power even a small server can be these days and the load of the intended user buy nine servers, find space in the data center, their wiring upward and then having to install and patch nine devices on an ongoing basis may well be cost ineffective. For some stores nine machines would be the way to go.

  I think that anyone who thinks that one method is better than the other needs to consider that different places work differently and that, while the one size fits all, a size approaches do not necessarily make for a 'good' target.

  I have a performance problem with a HARD drive: 3.5 inch USB 2.0 HDD with Alu - case. (320 GB of capacity)
  The average copy files is about 470 KB/Sec.

  When I connect the external HARD drive to my laptop (for any USB port), I have a ToolTip message: "this device can perform faster - this USB device can be faster if you connect it to a USB 2.0 port. I can assure you, my computer laptop USB USB 2.0 port.

  I conneted my drive external HARD to both PC and I have the same ToolTip message: "this device can perform faster - this USB device can be faster if you connect it to a USB 2.0 port.

  Is this problem known to you?
  I think the problem is in the firmware of the external HARD drive.

  I got the same info after the connection of a digital camera.
  The same message appears in the taskbar. I simply disbled this message;
  In Device Manager, click the USB host controller, click the Advanced tab, and then check the box at the bottom of the window that says don't tell me about USB errors.

  You must do this for each USB controller listed under USB in Device Manager, so that the error message no no matter which controller is used.

  I goggled for this + this device can perform faster + and got many successes. It seems that this is not a hardware problem, but simply a problem of operating system software

• Performance issues when coming out of sleep

  I recently built a gaming PC. On Christmas day, I finished putting the thing together. It has an Intel i7-4790 CPU running Intel HD Graphics, 8 GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM, an Asus Z97 - A Mobo and a 2 terabyte Seagate HDD. I installed Windows and put everything in place. Then a week later, my MSI GTX 970 arrived in the mail.

  So, I take the thing to sleep and decreases the performance of the whole thing. Videos YouTube stutter, simple as games fight of World of Tanks to run at its usual rate of 60 fps. To avoid this, I simply restart my comp and then it works fine. performance is back to normal.

  A few weeks, Windows gave me a message on one of the Nvidia drivers causing performance issues when you wake up from sleep. I don't think a lot of it and rejected it. I'll try to reinstall all my Nvidia drivers. I uninstall the Intel HD graphics driver a few days ago and has not changed anything. I would appreciate an answer to this problem because I would like to continue to use the "sleep mode" because it consumes less energy and prolongs the life of my case of LED. Thank you!
