Manager CTS & 2008 R2 domain controller?

Hello

Documentation Manager 1.6 CTS indicates clearly that 2008 R2 as a domain controller is not supported, but what about the CTS Manager 1.7? I tried to find this information, documentation, but has not found statement clear on the supported or not supported.

/ Mikko

Hi Mikko,

Support for Windows 2008 R2 domain controller is currently roadmapped for next version 1.x - currently planned for 1.8.  1.7 it has not been officially tested, so it is not officially supported.

As you have indicated, Cisco noted in the Administrator's guide for 1.6 it is not supported. Documented were errors when running the prequalifcation tool as well as noting the support of Microsoft matrix which also has its own requirements for Exchange version compatabilities:

  • Windows server 2008 r2 domain controller deletes printers on windows 2003 Server

We have recently installed two new Windows Server 2008 R2 servers in our field.  one of the new servers is the new domain controller (successor of Windows Server 2003 SBS, which has been decommissioned).  There are two other Windows 2003 servers in the domain.  When we turn off all servers for maintenance and then power them back on, the print on the windows 2003 Server spooler crashes; printers are deleted and the server does not allow you to add printers.  is this be caused by some settings in windows server 2008 r2?  This happened twice, and the solution is to rub the print on the windows 2003 Server spooler and reinstall the printers from scratch.

  • Group Policy does not apply on Windows 7 with the Windows 2008 R2 domain controller

Trying to troubleshoot a GP associated question where, seems, desktops (Win 7 Enterpise) do not receive the last group policy.  He doesn't seem to get at some point after an arbitrary time period (two or three weeks), but it is insanse.

-Have you checked with the GPMC (connect to each domain controller individually) that all four domain controllers are running the same GP later version; no replication errors.

-No errors appear on the workstation or server logs (logs\winlogon or event viewer-> Group Policy).

    -gpupdate/force runs without error

-gpresult and RSoP both supplement fine, watch the GP is be applied correctly, to APPLY THE OLD GP SO!

-No error up with whent the following undocumented debugging is also enabled: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Diagnostics] "GPSvcDebugLevel" = dword:00030002

So, my little finger tells me that the problem is the GP are not be tire/replicated/either at the workplace in a timely mannger (reboot, gpupdate/force, etc.) but do not know how to see what is the interval, troubleshoot, etc.

The server gurus hang out more in the TechNet forums.  This forum deals with questions of security of user, your question would be a better fit in the server instances:

Can it be added to the domain without any problem? Functional? Roles?

We discovered that it was ok with respect to licensing. But not sure about the other features.

  • Someone at - it v13 Contract Manager installed on a domain controller?

    Hello everyone

I have a client who says that the primavera reseller him that it was ok to install CM13 on his controller w2k3 r2 domain, which hosts other databases quickbooks and instances of IIS.

Someone has already installed in a situation like this, along with the other Web servers and Dbs?

I understand that the application server and web server is usually 2 separate machines as well, but with the previous versions of CM, you could install both on the same machine. And these machines have been devoted to the CM.

A quick line answer on if your server / serves are dedicated to CM would be great!

Any other information would be helpful as well!

    Thank you
    Dennis

Its not technically impossible. :) only one line! :]

Difficult I would never install CM on DC, fundamentally, I would avoid anything that would make the crash of the DC more likely.

Service of CM will be 500-800MB of RAM, takes a huge look on CPU while deployment, after is not fundamentally than annoying.
Database (SQL or oracle), it needs clean memory and CPU.
I'm not sure if want your DC with other services to be overloaded.

IIS - they need to know that if one of the applications they use on IIS uses port 80, they will not be able to use the CM service on port 80, as well.

With the price price material licenses CM vs I would ask a noisy - why do you want all in one machine?

  • Migration of the domain controller Active Directory of windows 2000 server to a Server 2008.

I have an old machine that is running Windows 2000 server and it's our only one domain controller in a mixed 2000/2003/2008 server environment. I would like to move to one of the servers 2008 Active Directory and make the PDC and withdraw from the old box of 2000.

I saw a sea of documentation about the updated/move ActiveDirectory, but no clear examples of what I need to accomplish.

Can I do a dcpromo on a 2003 server, synchronization of the 2000 box, retire the 2000 Server, then dcpromo th 2008 Server 2003 Server? I know this may seem simplistic to a complicated procedure, but I have not really found anything to support...

A simple link to a procedure taken care of step by step would be great.

Thanks for all the ideas in advance.

  • Cannot add Windows Vista PC to Windows 2008 domain. Error message: an attempt to resolve the DNS of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed...

When you try to add a new computer Windows Vista (hqseven) to a Windows 2008 network, I get the following error message... "An attempt to resolve the DNS of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Ensure that this client is set to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain. "Last year, I added two XP, a Windows 7 and another Vista box to the field.  I don't know why I can't add my new Windows Vista computer.

I am able to get on the internet with the Vista PC. I can RDP to the domain controller (hqserver64) or any client. (using the name of host or static IP)  I can also do a ping of the domain controller (DC) or any another computer on my network using the host name.

After initial search for information, I found the following error message when you do a nslookup from my new vista box.

    Nslookup mydomainname
    Server: hqserver64.mydomainname.net

    Address: 192.168.0.99

hqserver64.mydomainname.NET cannot find mydomainname: Server failed.

I do not understand why I suddenly get these error messages when I was able to reach this area in the past.
