  As far as I know that the same notebook can be equipped with different sides.
  So it is possible that the R600 was equipped with the STRANGE that doesn't support DL media.

  However, I would recommend checking if the STRANGE can handle DL disks.
  For example, you can use a burning software like Nero to find out which discs are supported.
  I use Nero and this software contains various options. One of the options provides details about the STRANGE House.

  This problem is caused by physical limitations in DL (Double Layer) media. These limitations prevent any real use multisession. When the media is ejected, the disc session may be closed for DVD-ROM compatibility. On these discs, DVD-ROM compatibility is achieved only when the disc is complete. When the disc is finished, it is closed forever. The physical characteristics of the media require two layers will be burned so that the disc can be played in a DVD player. The two layers can be burned only by closing the disc. As soon as the disc is closed, no additional data can be added to him.

  Hey all,.
  I was wondering if someone could forward that request to the person responsible slimdrive firwmares to Toshiba.
  He finds that the carpet * a UJ-830 s drive not reading DUAL LAYER DVD-R / DVD + R (although it reads DVD-ROM OK DVD9).
  This disc, Mat * a UJ - 830 s equips the Qosmio E10.
  I have searched everywhere for a firmware update without success, so Toshiba are my only remaining chance.

  There is an update of the firwmare in of the Qosmio E10 driver section but that's UJ - 831S (and it does not work on UJ-830 s) :/

  AFAIK this unit has a DVD Super Multi drive and it must use media suite:
  CD-ROM (Read) CD - R(read/write) CD - RW(read/write) DVD-ROM (read)
  DVD-R(Read/Write) DVD - RW(read/write) DVD + DVD + R(read/write) RW(read/write) DVD - RAM(read/write)

  In addition, these speeds are available:
  Maximum speed CD-ROM(24x:read) CD-R(24x:write) CD-RW(10x:write) DVD-ROM(8x:read)
  DVD-R(8x:Write) DVD - RW(4x:write) DVD + DVD + R(8x:write) RW(4x:write) DVD - RAM(3x:write)

  Maybe this drive can t use the double layer? I think he uses a normal DVD

  I have a toshiba 2450 S203.
  For this laptop, I bought a new writer NEC ND-6650 double layer DVD.
  I took out the orginal, unscrewed the chassis power off and place it on the new. Insert the new DVD burner in my computer, the led starts too burn. Insert a cd in there and nothing happened. Looked in my computer and the DVD player was not shown. Restart my computer and I got an erro: IDE 1 # ERROR. Can someone help me with this problem.

• Cannot burn DVD + R double layer in CS5.5

  Hey everybody,

  I can't burn a double layer (8.5 GB) DVD + R in CS5.5 again. I tried burning the same project on a regualr DVD (4.7) and it works fine. When I go to build the project, it begins to prepare to build and then I get the error message "access denied!" A little more information would be appreciated!

  I wonder if it's because it's a DVD + R and not DVD-R, but I don't see how it would make a difference, maybe I'm wrong...

  My drive Burns DVD, Blu - Ray etc so it should do.

  Any useful information would be greatly appreciated.

  Right click on the shortcut of en and choose Run as administrator.  Then you should be able to burn a disc double layer.

  Hi, I have a pc compaq, with toshiba dvd players. DVD - rom SD-M1712. I have windows xp. I was doing a holiday film that is too big to go on a 4.7 GB dvd + r disc (which I have done before) so I thought that I had nothing better to do that to buy a larger drive so I bought a pack of 10 dvd + r dl discs. The drive does not recognize them and I don't know if it's because they are double-layer.

  I don't know what that means in terms of anyway, but don't understand why it won't work.

  Windows DVD Maker burned fine on my drive of Verbatim DVD + R double layer.  But he won't play in any dvd player, we have.  Also tried to play in our portable dvd player and the PS3 with no luck.  What Miss me?  The 4.7 GB DVD works fine at our DVD players.  Thank you

  Thanks for your reply KSib.  I had the dvd recorded in the standard wmv file that windows saves in, which is very good.  But if you try to go to where you saved it on your computer and try to write on a double layer dvd, it is write it, but don't allow you to watch on your computer or another computer... not on a dvd player.  The only way to be able to play the DVD double layer on a dvd using Windows player is to burn the Windows DVD authoring application DVD (not the location to save to your hard drive).  It takes forever to burn, of course... but so well worth it in the end when he actually plays.
