Mavericks on external partition does not start

Hello

I'm trying to implement the Mavericks on a partition on my external hard drive. Found several good guides on how but can't seem to boot from it.

I created a Mavericks install USB and started one. I deleted the partition (guid partition map and extended journaled) where I wanted to install the Mavericks ran through the facility and said it will re-start automatically that it did.

However it is started on my internal drive with OS X 10.11.4.

The partition where the Mavericks has been installed is displayed in the Finder.

The partition where the Mavericks has been installed is displayed as a virtual disk in system preferences, but when Source selected to restart, but after rebooting, it does not appear.

When I hold the ket Option initially upwards, it does not seem to me to choose.

I retried with 'createinstallmedia' https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372 and Diskmaker, but the same results.

How can I solve why it why it seems installed, but is not a bootable disk?

Thanks for any advice.

Also...

I use a partition of 100 GB of the Mavericks on a backup drive Seagate to Office for Mac 4.

    Hello

    I have a HP dv7 with Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit.

A few months ago, I did a factory restore, the recovery partition start (I have no recovery disks). After that, I thought to divide my C: partition where Windows is installed, and I did it with Windows disk management.

So my new scores were: C: D: with recovery, OS, E: HP_Tools and g.: the new partition.

A few days ago the sistem ran very hard, so I thought I do another factory restore from the recovery partition. When I rebooted and you press F11, I got the "0xc0000225 error".

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit bootable drive and I tried Startup Repair tool and other repairs of sistem, checks HDD, but everything seems to be ok.

I reinstalled the operating system, from the disk bootable on C: (OS starts and works well) and let the other partitions as they were... but it seems that the recovery partition still does not start if I can do a restore from the factory with all the drivers and utilities, as they were at the beginning.

Any ideas on how I can do?

    Thank you!

It seemed that it there was not much I could do about this problem. My disk is dynamic, there is no Recovery Manager from the Start Menu, there has not been any creation of HP with HP folder recovery support. I managed somehow to make a repair disk, I tried it but no results, the error kept popping out every time.

I inserted the Windows 7 disc to try to delete all partitions, including the recovery and HP-tools and do a Windows Installer Cleanup, but the Format, New and Delete buttons are inactive.

I did some scans disk and memory tests, everything was ok... I started with a disc of Hiren and accesed the HARD drive with a program based on linux and so I managed to delete the partitions.

After I installed a new copy of Windows 7 to work with my SN and everything was ok. Unfortunately I lost partitions recovery and HP-tools, but at least it works well again.

Thanks for your all your support.

  • Vista Boot Camp partition does not start

I have been using Fusion to open my Boot Camp with Vista Ultimate installed partition.  It worked fine for months.  Suddenly, I get a windows Boot Manager error.  The message says that some required files missing.  Here's the weird: I can open the Visa using Boot Camp partition.

    Any ideas?

    Tim

Note: These steps assume that you have a default Apple installation of Windows and a VMware Fusion Boot Camp Virtual Machine default partition and if you changed the Boot Camp partition the Virtual Machine to add additional hard disks to be virtual or RAW disk then do not use these instructions unless you backup the Boot Camp partition the Virtual Machine package first.

    1. If the merger is open, close it.

    2. in a Terminal (/ Applications/Utilities/Terminal) copy and paste command, as the following and then press Enter and it will remove the Boot Camp Virtual Machine meta-data partition. Note: This does not affect the Boot Camp partition to install Windows. Also make sure that you copy the entire command below "rm" line at the beginning of the ' (quote) after the p in the Camp. "

RM - dfr "/Users/$ the specified item was not found./Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines / Boot Camp."

    3. start Fusion (/ Applications/VMware Fusion.app) and select the Boot Camp partition on the library of the Virtual Machine window, and then click the run button.

Notes: Then, an authentication dialog box appears. "VMware Fusion requires that you type your password." Enter your name and password, and then click OK. (It is necessary to remove the Boot Camp for the merge partition to access it directly).

Then, we should see a Boot Camp partition message stating "VMware Fusion prepares your Boot Camp partition to run as a virtual machine. This may take a few minutes. This occurs once. »

When the virtual partition Boot Camp Machine starts for the first time after this VMware Tools may want or will install/update and restart the virtual partition Boot Camp Machine.

  • Drive external HARD with bootcamp partition, does not start?

    Hi all

If I'm running into a bit of a problem. I had an older macbook pro (mid - 09), kept just upgraded HARD drive I had before I sold it. On this HARD drive, it has a partition Mac OS 10.8, and a boot camp windows partition 7. Now that I have my new Macbook Pro (mid-12), with an impressive but small SSD, I tried to start the windows partition via external enclosure. Im running in some points once I selected the bootcamp on the HARD drive partition. It tries to open windows, but I get the error "Windows failed to Start. Kind of stuck here, seeing that I won't try to Exchange hard disks for obvious reasons. Y at - there a fix, or any way around it?

  • Recovery partition does not start!

    Hello dear forum participants!

I have computer hp pavilion dv6 laptop, recently I reinstalled original OS (win7 home 64 bit that comes with the laptop) to win7 Home premium.

Now I want to return to the default settings, and I'm unable to start on the HP Recovery partition.

When I press F11 at startup it boots regular OS, but not the HP recovery software.

How can I get my work as a recovery partition?

    Problem has been solved!

It seems that recovery partition boot records have been corrupted by the installation of the non-native OS, but the directory structure and files were intact.

    Steps performed:

-J' created the recovery USB using HP USB recovery Flash Disk Utility disk

    Link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-77449-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=4062&product=4057188

-Fact flash drive bootable using EasyBCD utility

just add a new entry to point the finger removable WIM image, see documentation for EasyBCD

    http://NeoSmart.NET/wiki/display/EBCD/EasyBCD+documentation+home

It's quick and dirty solution, there will be more estetically without creating recovery USB drive, simply add the for the recovery partition boot record.

  • Does not start after the reload of the operating system

OK, this is my story of boredom.  I have a Lenovo T61 Type 6463-5BU, S/N L3-xxxxx.  The hard drive died a few weeks ago, and since then, I have received a replacement drive under warranty, that is the exact same drive type.  We had a backup image of the old system under Norton Ghost and managed to get the image to the new disk once it has been installed.  To do this, we used a utility called OS
    'BartPC '.

Since then, I did pretty much everything I can think of to get the system to boot, including playing with the BIOS settings, setting the drive to 'boot' and 'active' with the help of a number of public services, including the good old "diskpart" and many others.  The reader will just not start.  A few times I could read the disc using Bart in command prompt mode, but I never managed to boot from it.

The laptop has a finger print reader, but I was told several times that this has nothing to do with the problem.  So... before I cut off the finger of a person and drag in the player... What am I doing wrong here?

  • Recovery partition is there but does not start Recovery

    Hello

When you try to restore the image (F11 at startup), the laptop seems to be as he tries to start missing Windows installation (Windows Boot Manager error page).

Partitions 'SYSTEM', 'HP_RECOVERY' and 'HP_TOOLS' have not been affected. Recovery files of ~ 15 GB are still there!

The Windows (2nd primary) partition was deleted and then recreated as an NTFS partition. Since then, the recovery process does not start.

How can I restore my intact HP_RECOVERY partition system without using recovery DVD? (I can't access right now.)

The partition Windows has need of a specific disk label? What is the magic that breaks the recovery when an NTFS partition is all simply deleted and then re-created?

    HP ProBook 6550 b (WD701EA #ABD)

Solution: How to fix F11 penetrates is not in the Recovery Manager process

    You will need:

-This fix by HP: difficulty to the Multi-partition HP Recovery Manager (the ProBook 6550 b is not listed as a supported model, but it worked for me)

-installation of Windows (see partial solution above) a job to install the fix on your ProBook

    or

-sufficient knowledge to extract the winre.wim missing the fix above, copy it to your recovery partition and to apply any measures necessary (I did this)

    Steps to follow:

-in your work on your ProBook Windows installation open the file downloaded "sp48415.exe".

-the files will be extracted in "C:\swsetup\SP48415", open this folder in Explorer

-Right click on "F11SPFix.cmd" and run as administrator

    -the patch will be applied

Restart und press F11 at startup to enter your recovery Manager (hopefully) fixed.

  • SSD external via USB does not start by default

    Hello Apple community.

I have a problem with my new external SSD. Given that the base model Mac Mini end of 2014 comes with a disk HARD 5400 RPM drive, I wanted to go to an SSD without having to tear the whole unit. I wanted to exhaust the option 'boot from USB' and I'm having a strange problem. I cloned my Mac to the new drive SSD and slapped in a box set of the speaker. I connected via USB and changed my 'startup disk' to use the external SSD drive. However, it does not start on this unit automatically. When I reboot and discovers the "boot manager" I see the USB being initialized automatically. After disconnection / re - plug the drive in, it appears as a boot option. Once it is initialized, everything works fine and I can boot into El Capitan without any problem using the SSD.

I am trying to find a way that I can get the Mac to initialize the SSD to the boot upward and choose default. I don't want to have to re - connect the drive whenever I want to start on the SSD drive... Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  • HP envy Phoenix: win 7 does not start with connected external hard drive

I have a desktop HP Envy Phoenix with i7 chip and an SSD for the OS.  If I connect via USB external drive of 3 TB WD for the backup of the system does not start while it is attached.  The pc seems to be trying to boot from the outside, can't find the OS and does not start.  It will start fine with small external drives connected.  It is the size of the disk? Is there a way to fix this?

    Hello

The WD drives seem to pose problems of my potential.  I have used other brands such as Seagate and Hitachi without running into problems with external USB drives causing the system to boot.  Maybe it's the USB adapter that I use which does not cause starting problems.

    @tpetras

I used the adapter HP USB 3, which uses drivers NEC or TI and has never had a problem starting via a USB external (non - WD) readers.

As the header says, Windows 7 does not start. Made a partition to swap files between OS X and Windows 7.

I saw in a thread that it could be repaired using fdisk. I'm really new to OS X, so I did not really

know what to do. Writing the result of the controls, I found in the thread.

I know now there is a warning to the partition AFTER installing Windows.

Would really appreciate if everyone took some time telling me what to do!

  • Windows 7 Home Premium does not start and an external monitor connected via DVI to HDMI Cable

I have a Dell Inspiron 531 desktop computer with a NVIDEA GeForce 8400 GS video card.  This video card has the following outputs: DVI, VGA and S-video.  When I connect it to my computer via the VGA port to PC to my Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR4 monitor port, the machine starts perfectly.  If I connect via a HDMI cable to one of the HDMI monitor DVI ports, the screen displays the video BIOS, but turns black when the operating system begins to load.  If I connect another monitor to the VGA port, yet once the machine boots fine, but if I connect the monitor to the computer and the Sony Bravia, once again the machine does not start.  The strange thing is that if I boot with only the connected computer screen and then plug the DVI to HDMI cable, then Windows 7 sees the Sony Bravia monitor very well, and I can extend the desktop.  If the machine mode 'sleep', both monitors work very well to wake up the PC.  So, if the Sony Bravia is connected alone or with the computer screen, the machine does not start (the screen will display 'go black' when the OS starts to load.)  I tried to run Windows in Mode safe, but he won't either.  I have all the updates of Windows applied and have installed the latest drivers from nVidea so.

    Hey Chris,

First of all, about climbing, is not a technical support; This is a community forum where MS moderator and contributors are involved.  Now to your question ~

It's very strange that the PC does not start when this unit is connected, but works fine when connected after the fact.  I've seen several cases where a hardware configuration of uinsusal will prevent a PC to boot.  I think that the culprit may be DVI to HDMI Cable that you are using.  If I were you, I try to connect the PC to a DVI monitor and see if it boots normally.  Also, see if the monitor can prevent another PC to start when it is connected directly via the HDMI.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

  • NB200 does not start after the bios - screen black screen with blinking cursor

    Hello

I was using the laptop as usual when I think there may have been a virus activity - reason I say that is that my anti-virus closed unexpectedly. I couldn't restart programs files.

    I restarted the laptop.

After the bios menu will I get a blank screen with a blinking cursor - windows does not start.

    I did the following:
    (1) create a USB bootable with Recovery Console window XP - boot with this i can see three drives C:, D: as SDA? I can see the content of these disks, so it seems that my HD works. I ran a fixmbr and fixboot, but this has not solved the problem.
    (2) create a Kaspersky bootable USB virus scan - ran it without problem - he found a few question (not on the disk boot sector) I've fixed.

An option was to copy files from the laptop and then start it in recovery mode - so Itried to run the phone into recovery mode hold down the 0 key at startup - the bottom of the screen then displays * HDD Recovery mode * and nothing happens.

Any help - other options would be greatly appreciated.

My 1 year of that guarantee has expired a few months back so can't send in for repair.

    Thank you

    Hello

I doubt that it is a virus.
Seems the file system is damaged on the HARD drive and this is the reason why the laptop does not start until it could also be a partition of HARD disk malfunction.

Try this; Turn on the unit, press F8, and then check if you have the laptop repair.
If this is not possible, then you will need to reinstall new OS.

Here you can order a recovery disc:
    http://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx
Of course you will need an external USB CD/DVD drive

  • Portege 3490, Windows does not start no-how to reinstall?

    Hello
I bought a laptop portege flea market in US a few months ago. It was quite a good deal, but unfortunately it came without floppy and cd drives, only with the external network adapter.

The problem is that now, Windows XP does not start upward due to some mess that I did with Acronis partition software-dos prompt just says:

    From Acronis Loader...

The Acronis loader: no current configuration file.
    Press to restart...

I guess that it is not really a problem if I had a floppy or cd drive. Although I would rather buy one just for unique operating system installation. (normally I use lan connection to transfer files between my computer).

In any case, I would be very happy if you could tell me how boot/install OS using the LAN network connection (how to turn on my desktop pc into a CD drive on the server and dhcp on the network sharing, etc.). I tried to search the Internet to do this, but it is surprisingly bad comments on this topic, and toshiba so do not write on this subject in the manual...

    Best regards
    Aldous

    Hello

Well, I think that somewhere, there should be information that it supports booting from LAN (PXE). But since this reqiures some heave stuff behind the LAN, it might be a little difficult to tell the whole story in the manual.

Anyway, the way I am familiar with this is that you can start the machine from the LAN (or rather install the machine of the LAN) If you have an available RIS (Remote Installation Server). This isn't something that people generally have in their homes. What it takes is a Win2000 / XP or Win2003 server with active DHCP server. You will also need to prepare a special 'image' of the installation media (but there is a guide to help you with this in Win2000 server at least).
After that, it should be fairly simple. Starting the machine of the LAN, get an IP address and by accepting to download the bootstrap of the server, login and then it really looks as if you dΘmarrez from a Windows Media.
So in short - use it to Win2000/XP/2003 server and support for Windows of choice. Some LAN cables and possibly a switch/hub.

If you can get your hands on a PC Card (16-bit)! CD Rom and can make a CD bootable, then that could be easier.

Theoretical, you can also move your HARD drive to another PC and it is
    -install Windows on it

    or

make 2 partitions and copy Windows Media to the second to the first bootable with f.ex. BACK/Win9X, bring it and install Windows on the first partition when the disc is in the 3490.

But these 2 varaints gives 2 potential problms as they are complicated to solve:

If you only install BACK/Win9X on the HARD drive you will get probably the problems to start the HARD drive when you put it in the 3490.

If you install windows on the HARD disk, you may both get HARD drive boot problems and also get windows to load correctly due to differences in the chipsets.

Sorry for a lot of words :)

    Good luck!

    Tom
