Mayhem Vista installation

My computer tell me that Vista ServicePack did not install. Then he said: "changes back, do not turn off your computer." Then he stops himself and starts the loop over and over again. How in the lower _ this crazy tautology? I can't off the "reverting changes" screen before it stops again. It doesn't let me log on.

Hi Jcd5,

Thanks for posting on the Community Forums of Microsoft Vista.

Since the installation has failed and you are unable to boot to the desktop, you can try to start the computer in safe mode.  Check if you are able to boot to the desktop. To start in SafeMode to restart the computer and keep pressing the F8 key. Once you see the mode safe in option, select it and press the Enter key.

Once you're in safe mode, you try to restore system to a previous date before the installation of the Service pack.

To keep track of the restoration of the system, the following steps:

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem and then click Next, click Finish.

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

Access the link below to learn more about how to repair the operating system and how to restore the configuration of the operating system to an earlier point in time in Windows Vista: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936212

If you cannot start in safe mode, you can try to boot from the Vista DVD and try to perform a system restore by following the steps below:

1. Insert the DVD of Windows Vista and restart the computer.
2. when we are asked to press a key to boot from the DVD, please press enter or the SPACEBAR.
3. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
4. click on repair your computer.
5. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
6. in the System Recovery Options menu, click System Restore.
7. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
8. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
9. click on finish.

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

If the previous step fails, try to run the tool to restart system on your computer and check if it helps.

To perform a Startup Repair follow these steps:

6. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair can invite you to make choices as it tries to solve the problem, and if necessary, it may restart your computer, because it makes the repairs.

Access the link below for more information on the Startup Repair:
http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/5c59f8c1-b0d1-4F1A-AF55-74f3922f3f351033.mspx

If the step above does not help, try to disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse and attempt to boot to the desktop.

It will be useful.

Thank you and best regards,

    Hello!

The product key on the underside of the laptop is an OEM key and belongs to the preinstalled OEM version. This means that you can t use this key with a normal Vista installation disc that you can buy on the internet or in a store of the computer.

    Hey,.

    I m a bit confused now
What exactly happens on your laptop? You can start Windows?

I think the article MS says it all: to repair Windows you need a disc of Microsoft Vista.

  • Satellite L350 restarts on the Vista installation

Hey, my friend gave me his L350-145 (PSLD0E-00U00YGR) to reinstall Vista, because the system was full of Ad - and malware. He bought it on Ebay so there was no CD/DVD and booklet included and Partition Recovery is already deleted. I'm a veteran Windows so I reinstalled systems 100 times, but this one gives me the shiver.

I created a 32-bit Vista installation DVD, following a Step - by Step Guide without any problem and formatted the drive using "Partition Wizard". 80 GB primary NTFS 'SYSTEM' and 2 logical NTFS. I reboot the system with the Vista DVD in the drive and "Windows loading files...". "- the screen apears. Installation of Vista starts propper and I select the country and language. Insert-Windows-key-screen appears and I start to type in the key. The screen turns to black and colored stripes and the system hangs or suddenly reboots without any promt somewhere on the way. It does the same thing after a few moments, if I not touch anything after the "Windows loading files...". ' - screen.

I checked the BIOS settings, everything seems to be in order.
I took the DVD from the drive and waited for the "no boot device" - screen for a gel or a reset... nothing.
I started "Partition Wizard" and waited... nothing.
This only happens after you start the installation of Vista... sooner or later.

I'm at the end of my know how.

    Any idea?... pleeeaaase.

    welcome them

For me, this looks like hardware problem. Something like GPU overheating or something like that.
Of course I can't say it for sure.
All you can do is make some small tests to see what happens and try to find out what could be the reason for this.
    > This only happens after you start the installation of Vista... sooner or later.
Windows-old fighter you can test with, for example from another version of Windows. Try to install Windows7.
If possible try to speak with your friend and get another HARD drive. You can try to swap the HDD and check if the same thing will happen again.

I installed different versions of Windows on different machines and I've never noticed anything like that. Some hardware, it must be related issue.

  • First Vista installation failed: what to do now?

I bought a Satellite L300-19F Notebook with preinstalled Vista Home Premium. Without the backup DVD, which Toshiba does not provide.

I started the computer, still had to make choices to complete the installation and then power went. If the Vista installation has failed. It says 'install again', but since I don't have any DVD, what can I do?

This is an OEM version. OEM is related to the motherboard. This means it is possible to borrow a Vista DVD of detail, install it from there and activate it with my OEM code?

I agree with sascha. To be honest is none other than the first option. Just try to start the HARD drive recovery process. I hope that the next time you're lucky and also able to install and start Vista.

PC doesn't DETECT XP during installation. Vista installation is fine.

    Hello

I have a laptop that was previously installed on the xp machine. The system crashed and I tried to reinstall Xp home edition. But when I did that, he threw an error that it could not detect my hard drive. myinitial was that the hard drive had crashed, but the BIOS test he returned no errors. I tried vista on the machine and found that it functioned perfectly well. I trid re - install xp on the computer from the vista desktop, but it would throw into the same error after the re-start of the system. "Could not find hard disk..." Please advice...

ATTENTION: You can not wake XP if you do not have a real XP install disc. If you try to use a recovery disc that simply does not work. I assumed you had an installation disk XP at retail with a unique product key. The only way you can use the product key on the laptop for an XP installation is if you have a generic OEM installation disc with the same version of XP that what was initially installed on the laptop. Subsequently, you will need to install all the drivers and the specific portable software for this model. You will get these from HP website.

Again, a much better solution in your case is to buy someone or HP recovery discs as RestoreDisks.com. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Where can I get a Windows Vista installation disc?

My old Acer laptop crashed about a year & a half.  I bought a new laptop.  The other day I plugged it to see what would happen.  He came & the guest a insert the Windows Vista installation disc.  Where can I get this drive?  Windows Vista came pre-installed with the laptop, so I do not have a disk with him.  Acer does not know because the laptop is out of warranty.  They told me to take the laptop to a computer repair shop.  Well, I don't want to spend that much money to find out what was on the laptop when it crashed.  Any suggestions?

    3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows splash screen, press the Enter key.
    4. etc.

And if you have problems with the help of the Partiiton of recovery and Acer supplies more recovery media for previous models preinstalled Vista, you may need to use this method:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

  • Do I need a Vista installation disk to use the Windows 7 upgrade option?

    Hi guys,.
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find the answer anywhere.
I'm currently running Vista 64 bit and you want to upgrade to Windows 7.
I'm looking to upgrade and full version options.
I'm looking to do a clean install.
My question is, if I buy a version upgrade of Windows 7 need me a Vista installation disc to allow it?
My PC came pre loaded with Vista, so I don't have an installation disc.
    Thank you

    Emma

A copy of the full license of Windows 7 would be transferable to a computer without an operating system until it has been completely removed from the first.

I highly recommend that you buy a copy of the full license since you think you might buy a personal computer.

The upgrade copy would not be transferable to a new computer unless the new computer already had a copy of installed Windows on what qualifies for an upgrade to Windows 7.

  • borrowed a vista installation disk to do a clean install can not activate my original key, it happens that does not apply as long as its an OEM key!

My son borrowed a vista installation disc to do a clean install on my packard bell laptop using my original key of portable computers, everything is fine, but yesterday I tried to activate the key it happens that does not apply as long as its an OEM key! What can I do now? If I use my laptop recovery DVD will it be recognized by the operating system?

    Help please!

The only "original" key on your laptop is on the COA sticker on the case - and NOT that of a magical JellyBean or Belarc Key recovery program.

To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag (download and save to the desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 ) tool
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the button continue, which will produce the report.

  • WinRE: Bootrec.exe doesn't locate Vista installation

    Hello

I am running into a problem of a friend PC repair. Essentially, Vista one day could not start.
While it is not an expeert of support, I'm relatively confident that nothing significant not changed - no new hardware or software, and any recently retired. The symptoms are that Vista (launched in either 'normal' or safe mode"gets just beyond the loading bar before displaying a black screen with the mouse cursor present and responsive (so no important material of lock-up).

I put around a w/SP1 of Vista installation disc and launched WinRE. Then, after trying the Startup Repair with no joy, I started to watch using Bootrec.exe. Here's where I'm confused. I follow the steps below:

    Mounting disk boot
When you are prompted, select "repair your computer".
Windows detects the installation of Vista and presents the opportunity to attempt to correct automatically. I say no.
Among the advanced options I choose command line
I run Bootrec.exe with the option ScanOs, to see the State of things at first

And the question; No matter what happen, I run, Bootrec fails to detect the installation of Vista. This up really me, because of course, it is already detected by the main environment RE (or I guess it wouldn't let me not even get as much as I did).

Readers of this machine are all the IDE, so it isn't a problem of storage driver (I think!).
More difficult still is the fact that there is an old this installation of Windows XP on another drive, and now, at startup, the computer runs NTLDR instead of Bootmgr. I can boot into two Acronis, using my drive to boot to it, and two other types of Linux I own. At the moment I'm backup data to a new installation. However, I need to understand this if possible behavior - why Bootrec cannot see the installation?

Anyone can shed light on this mess?

    Thank you very much

    Stevie Stevie lamb lamb

    Stevie lamb,
The only time where I heard of this particular issue where bootrec cannot find the Windows partition even if the recovery environment can, if there is another operating system installed on the same drive, usually a type of Linux OS, and the worm was installed to / root accidentally, instead of for/Boot.  This makes the situation where the Linux (or similar) charger OS appeared before the Windows boot loader.  What situation in your case?  If so, you can search in other online forums and find a lot of people who have similar problems using Linux operating system type.  Here's the article Microsoft Knowledge base by using the bootrec.exe tool and the restoration of the BCD.

    Hey isayuh

There is no sites for free and legal download for vista

Once installed, you can not change the version of vista by changing a product key

you need to reinstall vista correctly

    you get your Toshiba drivers

Click on the download tab in the link and enter your model number

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/home.jsp

I suggest you contact toshiba on the recovery options:

and ask them to send you vista recovery discs

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

In general, yes your reinstall Dell drive is identical to a disc to install Windows genuine.

The differences are not applicable for the repair procedure. (FYI - Toshiba and HP Vista, the disks cannot be used to perform a repair install, while gateway disks will work for Vista)
