MBP re-formatted and installed Mountain Lion!

Hi all, I've successfully migrated my old MBP of 4 year in a new "slimline" MBP

I am now preparing my old MBP to transmit to my older daughter, I have re-formatted and restarted with command-R, am now downloading and installation of Mountain Lion.

My question is the following:-what should I do then, to be able to get El-Capitan installed, which after all is the version of Mac OS X had it before as I have re-formatted. ????

Tim

You say to download and install El Capitan by his Apple ID. With the exception of needing to be connected with another Apple ID, the process is the same as that used for update to the original.

  • Format and install Snow Leopard on Mac Mini

    Hello

    • I have a Mac Mini
    • Using boot camp, I have a Win10 partition which is now, the entire hard drive.  Really.
    • I have the installation of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.3) DVD
    • I directly connect the optical drive and a wired keyboard to the system
    • Start by pressing the [CTRL] key.
    • Download the white screen with the Apple logo in the middle of it.
    • .. then nothing.  He's here.  After 10 minutes, I pull the plug and restart the Windows partition and return to the slaughter of these discussion forums for clues.

    Issues related to the:

    1. How do I FORMAT and INSTALL Snow Leopard on the Mac Mini or m, I was too impatient after the [Ctrl] restart using the OS X DVD?
    2. Is there an external utility that I should get to format the drive?
    3. I can do this in steps - can I install OS X on an external HD and then use it for the crater / rebuild the primary drive?

    Input greatly appreciated!

    Rade

usually it is booting by pressing the C key to start from the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive.

or start by pressing the Option key to get a list of the bootable devices that you can choose from.

See <Startup for Mac - Apple Support combinations>

NOTE: This does not imply that you run your Mac mini Snow Leopard.  I guess that your wording she used to run Snow Leopard, and that your Mac mini still has a DVD/CD player are good signs.

My MACBOOK pro is having hard drive problems. It is partitioned to run el capitan and windows 7. the partition main mac only get 75 to 80% through the start-up procedure and then hang up.
I tried to run disk security recovery volume. zap the PRAM, tried to secure boot and FSCK nothing helps.
I ordered a new SSD drive and need to get el capitan on the new drive.
can I format and install el capitan on the new drive if it is attached to the macbook with a hard drive by using the 10.11.1 housing recovery tools before starting the installation in my macbook.

Another option is to see if the local genius bar formats an installer usb for me.

    Thank you

Yes, you should be able to select a destination drive during installation. Is that what you mean?

It is the key which is the basis of the license, rather than the disc.

  • 10.8.4 and CS5 mountain lion

Hi, I just installed 10.8.4 Mountain Lion and when I now try to open CS5 I get a message that I need a Java SE 6 runtime. I downloaded and installed, 7 JRE think this would be ok, but I still get the same message.  I assumed that this version of Cougar would work with CS5, in view of the other discussion forums on the Cougar and CS 5.  Should I specifically 6 rather than 7?

    Hello

Please download and install Java Runtime from this location. It should solve the problem.

  • Satellite M40 - format and install NO CD from recovery

    Hello
I need to format the hard drive and install XP Pro SP2 on my Satellite M40 - 239 (pre installed XP HE). How do we install the Express Media Player? Do I need to do before installing with my own XP disks? The Express Media recovery disk reformat the hard disk and let me choose the size of the partition etc.? Or should I first install XP SP2 (not from the recovery disk, it is my own), then the media player? And how do I install all of the tools supplied preinstalled in the factory? On the product recovery disc, it seems there is no installation of software for them, am I stuck with XP it if I want to keep the tools (Bluetooth, ConfigFree etc.)?

    Hello

Well, the drivers needed on the Toshiba page you will find:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Please also check out this other post:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=8872

    On the express media player:

Should at least 150-200 MB of available free space on the HARD drive.
This free space must be on the end of the HARD drive and there must be unallocated.
To get this space available on party products 3rd HARD drive must be used.

  • How can I get windows xp Setup to format and install.

I am trying to format and reinstall windows xp on a home build I have for my nephew, but having all sorts of trouble. I tried on three different drives and get the same thing. When I get to the point of delete the partition and create a new partition it it still affects in RAW format. I don't give me the opportunity to FAT or NTFS. and then when I try to install says windows cannot be installed on the disk. the first time I thought that the hd could have been killed, but when it happened on the second and third discs I am at a stand still. Anyone out there have any ideas for me? Thank you

What do you mean by "treated as main system internally disk"? If these discs are in external boxes USB, your method will not work! If they are REAL internal drives, and then booster cables and the master/slave relationship must be correct. Depending on whether the drive is IDE or SATA, a certain BIOS setting may need to be set or you may need to have the SATA drivers on a floppy disk so that you can hit the F6 key at the right time. See:

Can there be a hardware conflict instead? Absolutely! Let us know everything. It is possible, one or more components does not support Windows XP. Finally, consider starting a new thread here since your question seems to certainly be related to material:
  • Sector recovery Vista TTG boot after format and installing XP

First machine is a DELL inspiron 1545
OK, this is somewhat complicated and I tried a few options.
I formatted the primary partition and installed XP after which discovered the recovery partition that I cannot now access via CTRL + F11, and a few other combinations I tried.

I won access to the partition via ubuntu so I know it's all there and intact.

I tried to use imagex to restore image files of vista on the recovery partition which they are 2 (spl_vista.swm spl_vista2.swm) so I used the order of REF. but I got a CRC error.

I tried to use imagex to restore another image file in the HDDRE folder. WIM, but that the image has no MBR

I was able to start the the recovery partation I discovered was a techguys recovery system by changing the active partition through diskpart, but he told me that he could not find the HARD drive, I also tried to boot to a DMS and had the same result.

any ideas on the means may restore the vista on this machine?

    Hello

We cannot help you difficulty dell recovery partition

It's their recovery partition, not Microsoft

Contact Dell for any additional assistance with their recovery processes

    _______________________________________________

Try these methods to reinstall vista

Contact the manufacturer of Dell and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • T500: Format and install XP-32 pro-life drivers?

I just bought a T500 and want to format the hard drive, remove the partitions and install my own copy of Windows XP Pro 32-bit.

I would like to get all the relevant drivers.  When I go to

    http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/product.do?brandind=10&familyind=422608&machineind=427443...

Moderator Note: Type added to the line object for clarity.

You can find it on the bottom of your laptop on the right of the thumbnail next to the serial number. It might be in a four-number format (type), followed of a three characters (numbers or alphabets which is the model)... like these for example 2767-12U or 2261-CTO etc.

  • After format and install Win XP Home and SP3 why can't open the Microsoft web sites?

    Need help, guys

I had to replace my HARD drive in my computer. I installed my Windows XP Home SP2 disc. After installation, I used my SP3 upgrade drive and my drive to upgrade to IE8. After you install all my drivers, I tried to get Windows dates and discovered that I could not access the Microsoft web sites. I get Internet Explorer cannot display this page. I tried to find out why this is happening and how to correct the situation, but have not found an answer that works yet. Can someone give me an answer to this question.

I have another (used) computer that I formatted the HDD installed and on Windows 7 and have had no problems to access the Microsoft web sites on. It uses the same modem cable like the other computer so I guess that everything is ok with my Internet connection. This problem seems to be only with Windows XP Home SP 3.

Think in advance for any help

    Btk (billy the kid)

Please do not share in the whole "BOLD". Which makes it hard to read!

Please check that SP3 is installed:
    Start | Run
    Type:
    winver
    Press OK.
Also, tell us what you mean by "trying to get Windows dates" since there are two ways to do this!

    no error yet

    Hi x zero90,

Thanks for posting. XP is available on CD-Rom. However there are other sites this list to install with a USB key ways. It is not tested so can not be guaranteed by Microsoft. Also, please make sure that you have a recognized reliable backup before performing any format.
