my anti virus (mcafee) protection means that my computer is at risk because of my firewall settings and when I try to change my firewall settings recommeded settings I get an error code: 0x6D9 and my internet provider said it is a microsoft problem, that's why I am asking your help
Uninstall McAfee, reboot, the windows firewall is then able to be turned on?

1 know if your AV (anti-virus) program is supposed to disable your Windows Firewall. Some do it.
2. you do not do so in respect of the services? You do it in this way? ...............
Start > Search box, type ser > press the Enter key > scroll down to Windows Firewall...
under status, it lies and must say... Has begun
under Type of status, it must be said... Automatic
If it does not say that, right click on Windows Firewall > properties...
in Startup Type, click on the pointer, and then select Auto
to the service status, click Start
Click OK when finished.

I have the full version of Malwarebytes installed on my computer (Win 7). My windows firewall is turned on, but I can't access "Firewall with Advanced Security Windows". It keeps giving me the error 0x6d9 code. I want to open windows with advanced security firewall for an outbound rule, but I can't access it. The Windows Firewall is enabled and is in automatic mode, but I still got this message. Is it possible that Malwarebytes could interfere with that? Need help please.
OK, problem solved. :)
In my case, the snap would charge because I had turned off the customer service group policy (under my personal little war against the administrators of domain). I was told that disabling GPC would not bad, if you can log on as an administrator, but apparently it can have some side effects, like preventing the firewall snap to load. The firewall service itself seems to start and work properly, though. The snap works fine if I re-enable the TPM service.
My case is very specific and do not apply to the author of this thread, check in any case if the Group Policy Client service is started, just to be sure. More info can be found in recent posts from this thread:

some poured a group of viruses on my VISTA computer. I've tired to restore to an earlier period, but can not get the restore to run. I tried to locate rstrui.exe and right-clicking it goes then properties. Restore to an earlier period does not come to the top. If I click left on rstrui.exe I get the same message, the line is not valid.

I have an Apire one laptop with Windows xp service pace 3. I had to restore it to factory about 3 years ago. Some time after that the sound system began to slow and the Synaptics mouse stop working properly. I can move the pointer, but the left click does not work. It works in safe mode but not in normal windows. I used the Acer eRecovery for correct, but it did not work. I tried to download the driver for the mouse on the internet, but some how it could stop the download. I gave up at tring to fix. Some time in late March or early April, I couldn't access internet and after 22:30. I ran the diagnosis that is provided by internet explore and he said that the HTTP and HTTPS worked but the FTP did not work. AVG later told me my firewall is disabled and there was the possibility to reactivate it and I did. After internet explore stop allowing you to enter certain sites that I wanted to enter, I ran the Diagnostics again and he told me that a firewall client has been the cause of the problem. I tried to control my firewall setting, but had that "due to a problem not identified, windows cannot display the firewall settings". I thought AVG was the problem, so I have unintalled then he returned and attempted to access the firewall but got the same message. I typed in Google MySapce and found this site. I followed a few directions given to others in the thread started by joecarpenter33 and discovered that my firewall has been deleted and Base filtering engine has been deleted also. I found another thread in Microsoft Answers relating to this problem, but who said to go into Services and see if the firewall is configured to automatically start. However, I can't find a Windows Firewall item in the Services Menu.
I have the PC Tools Spyware Doctor antivirus.
