mDNSResponder in El Capitan?
MDNSResponder is still in OS El Capitan?
This task/process takes over my system (last) whenever I connect to my iMac, slowing everything down and interfering with my internet connection.
When I Googled, all results are from 2011-12, and Mountain Lion.
How can I get rid of him?
Thank you!
How do you know that's all that slow?

After the upgrade to 10.11.6, mDNSResponder runs havoc
Hello
After the el Capitan to 10.11.6, upgrade my internet connection has been blocked by my ISP because of a flood of packets to multicast from my side.
I studied using the monitor activity and found that mDNSResponder creates the network traffic with more than 20 MB per minute, and I see also all the lights on my network switches will blink quickly. The problem disappears if I manually kill the process; then it automatically restarts and creates only a few KB per min.
It is two machines, an iMac and a Powerbook from 2015. Nothing else was changed other than the upgrade.
So obviously something is wrong.
Thanks for the resolution!
W.
Please read this message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It is unlikely to solve your problem. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The test is intended to determine if the problem is caused by a third-party software that loads automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.
Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.
The login screen is displayed even if you usually connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.
Test in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of the test.

no no pick host server el capitan. List [MAC Address]:unkown.home
We have 21 iMacs running on the server (El Capitan, recently updated) and alone is binding. The solution is usually quite simple for users and groups in SysPref. Remove the server host and binding, find the available server in the option drop-down menu, but for some unknown reason, the server is listed as
unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home
, that I found is the MAC address of the server. I ran this in a terminal:sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist
and
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist
back to link the server in SysPref and correct server name option appears briefly and then changed back to "unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home" right before my eyes!
You see "unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home" anywhere on the server?
Is the correct server name a bonjour name? That is to say theServer.com? or is it a FQDN name? theServer.YourDomain.com?
What is the name of the performed client hello?

Permafreeze El Capitan, please help
I didn't install El Capitan because everything with Maverick was fine.
Problem started with a kind of sleep: while I was working computer goes to some kind of sleep mode and I could do nothing until 15-20 seconds, black screen like the one you get when you go to the Finder--> Stop, then it disappear with a mouse/key entry. We sleep at irregular intervals.
Then one day, an error message says that an error has occurred with my hd, and I had to quickly copy all my data.
So I made a backup, formatted my HD and then I installed El Capitan
Now the computer starts in 20 minutes or more
Once started, it takes another 20 minutes to load the app in launchpad
When I try to open the prefereces system a report saying that an error has occurred and I can't open the preferences
each mouse click, click of each keyboard, each single entry take me to the spinning wheel of death...
an application can take an infinite time to open or to stop smoking or to do something
browser works, a unique planning take minutes to open, close, load, updated (my adsl is fine), plugin continue to stop
even to stop takes 15 min...
I tried to clean installation (several times), os x recovery (several times), but I can not understand
I have no start-up or additional fonts, no element of connection element, I have autologin and no windows reopen, no data on the...

The iMac's hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced. They can't be repaired.
Genius Bar Reservations: http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
You can replace it yourself, but it is a tedious procedure. Hard drives themselves are inexpensive.
Back up your Mac if you have not already done so. Read https://www.apple.com/support/backup/to learn how to do this. To learn how to use Time Machine read to use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac.

No service after upgrade the server to 5.2 on El Capitan
I have a web server that was doing very well until I left the 5.2 update suggested to install OS X Server. I can't get to broadcast web pages. Screen sharing works always and nothing has changed on the routers, etc.
I restarted the server after the update and restarted the server itself several times but keep getting connection via a browser failures.
I did the upgrade even on other servers as well as the upgrade of Sierra. This server is running El Capitan, and is the only one that gave me problems. 5.2 server is not compatible with El Capitan?
Some additional info:
I can connect to the server through ftp and other services; just no web service.
Port tests show that port 80 is not blocked
Using the IP address I can get to the window of the home server.
Accessibility means no services available
Websites is on and I can't find anything that is not defined in law or is different than before the update.

Freezes and restarts on 2015 5K running El Capitan iMac and am ready to freak me out
Hi guys,.
If I posted my check and reports being panic, could someone tell me what caused random freezes and restarts on my iMac 5 K - ish, El Capitan running? I am a designer/Retoucher and I am in the middle of a big job, of course.
He went on and off for a few months. I have cleared my startup disk and played fresh OS installs (didn't even use Migration Assistant just to be safe), three times. I installed apps one at a time try to refine what is the cause but could not.
At first I thought it was my mouse Logitech G502 because when I went to an old mouse for a few weeks the problem has disappeared. But yesterday, listening to iTunes via Airplay and working in InDesign, the system froze again.
I wonder if she might be SoftRAID(4) and/or my two RAIDs of 4 external ThunderBay?
Thanks in advance!
Steve
We can take a stab, please publish a report full of EtreCheck, and if we do not see everything that you can post your last report KP.

I tried to download macOS Sierra on my macbook pro iOS 10 for a few hours and it still has several hours to go. Should I just download the Capitan instead? All sites tell me that I should update my Safari or I wouldn't even through this disorder.
You must complete the download of Sierra. It is a very large file and will take some time, especially on a slow Internet connection.

How can I reinstall El Capitan?
I'm really impressed by Sierra to date. He made my Mac just as slow as a 2000 pre. I want to reinstall El Capitan. How can I do this? I have an iMac 21 inch end 2013 model. Memory is 8 GB 1600 mHz.
You will need to wipe your hard drive and can then restore your backup that you made before the upgrade. You use recovery to wipe and restore.

Problem starting el capitan (sierra) - built-in keyboard and the mouse do not respond
Hello
I have a 2015 macbook pro (SSD 256, 16 GB of RAM last el capitan updated) with a wired problem.
I use it mainly to a cinema monitor and I use wireless keyboard and mouse (office installation program), and of course as a stand-alone laptop when I'm not at my desk.
When I put the laptop to sleep, everything works fine when I wake up.
but, if I'm away from the office and I have to restart my laptop, here is the problem.
The boot process is very very slow, there is no edge, and when I finally have the screen to unlock the safe, the keyboard and the touchpad do not react. Actually, that's not exactly true, they are so slow that they are unusable and get caught quickly, all gel. So I can't unlock and complete the boot. My laptop is unusable ;-(
At this point, I get a message that if I forgot my password I just need to reboot by pressing the power button, and I'll be able to reset it.
When I do this and aprΦs the dΘmarrage that more slowly than usual but ok, I get another screen with several options of problem solving. One of them is "keyboard not responding do not. When choosing this one, it asks if you want to remove safe. I tried and everything was back to normal.
later, I delivered safe and I had the same problem again. I did the thing to be able to restart again and improved to sierra in the hope that it would disappear. However, the problem is still there.
I thought I could try to restart my office to see if my keyboard and wireless mouse would still work. Indeed, even if responsiveness was not normal, I could unlock and fill the chest.
I have the impression that my laptop always "believe" it is on my desk, linked to my screen (probably the reason why I don't hear the Bell) and to my wireless K & M.
It's really annoying and I hope someone has a solution.
Thank you very much
best,
Alex
I'm having a similar problem with macOS Sierra which I didn't have with El Capitan. I can possibly move the cursor on the power button and turn off (no), but I must be patient because the keyboard and trackpad are only for a fraction of a second, which only allows me to move the mouse slightly. After he stop and start back up, everything is perfect until I tried another reboot, and then I'm back to the beginning.
I tried to reinstall the operating system, reset the SMC, resetting the NVRAM, reboot in SafeMode... nothing worked so far.

Where are the options of the trackpad in Sierra OS? In El Capitan the trackpad there NO light tap (ENTER) and just one click HARD (ENTER) and could move the cursor.

Sierra is a bomb, need help to return to El Capitan
Could someone more at Apple just try it once to make sure that the "new and improved" operating systems actually work before releasing? With all the money goes to Cupertino, there is no money to hire testers rather than rely on Mac users? Talk about Stockholm syndrome. I'll cut to the Chase, now my computer has been upgraded to Sierra without my knowledge, and several apps are now, not to mention that I can't access my company's server today. How to return to El Capitan - can I save all my work from today and use Time Machine to restore my machine? If this isn't the case, should I really erase everything and start from scratch? Someone please stop me to jump on a ledge, I have work I need to pass on to customers. Any suggestions, help, you can give would be appreciated. Carl
Restore your backup, and if you do not upgrade your Mac, who did? Maybe you should tell them not to do the without you knowledge or approval.
