Measure the voltage of strain gauge

I have connected my 9237 to a 9945. I use a 350 ohm strain gauge. I have the voltage set to 2, 5V Max is there a way to measure physically to be sure that it is 2.5V? Also, in my vi I use a DAQmx create function of the channel. I want to add another channel for this but can't see how to do it.

Thank you

HS

Hi, Harry, it's Paul with engineering Applications to the OR.

My first question is why you are wanting to physically measure the voltage?

If you are wondering how that tension may vary, it is limited by the maximum capacity of 150mW of your device, as explained here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/7CBC67482CC9FB318625758C0048FF73?OpenDocument

If you want to continue to measure externally, you have a few options.  You can use another DAQ hardware to measure the voltage, or you can use another external device, like a digital multimeter.

If you want to see in the excitement that is actually supplied LabVIEW code, you can use the node property DAQmx 'Value of real excitement'.

As far as playback of multiple channels, theres two ways you can go about it.  If your channels are sequential and all have the same settings, then you can change your name of the physical channel to something like 'Dev1/ai0' to ' Dev1 / ai0:3: to specify the first 4 channels.»  Alternatively, if you wanted to select non sequential channels, you can chain create channel set tasks, as long as they are of the same type of task (AI voltage, etc.) and the same device, as shown below.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Kind regards

Paul

  • measure the voltage gpib

I have to be able to measure the peak voltage in an alternating signal Ridge.  However, the frequency is 40 kHz, which is too high to measure using data acquisition (because the sampling frequency ira not very high).  How can I measure the waveform using a multimeter, gpib?  Is there a sample there code that will help me?

    Thank you

    BernoulliLizard,

In your original post, you said you wanted to measure peak to peak voltage of a 40 kHz signal.

I don't know all voltmeter that will do that.

Get an oscilloscope or a DAQ hardware with a high enough sampling rate.  According to the bandwidth of the signal (not the same as the frequency of the signal), the PCI card for approximately $500 devices (US$) a variety of factors to form for $1500 or less must be able to do the job.

  • How can I measure the voltage of a signal?

    Well!

I'm trying to read the voltage of a signal using acquisition data PCI-6229 card.i am giving the signal as an input to the DAQ card and try to read the voltage level. The range of my signal is 4.8 ~ 5.5 VDC but the results are not accurate, such as measured with DMM. My code is as follows:

1.i m using DAQmx create channel to create an analog input channel

    2. then a sample clock with finite samples, sampels by channel and set the rate of iteratively

    3. then I start the task

    4. analog playback 1 DBL AK1 N sample d

Pressure readings I am differs widely that the actual.e.g a signal measured with DMM is 5v but when applied to the DAQ hardware and measured gives 6v.also I have to define minimum values and maximum in VI... If I put 4 to 5 maximum and minimum to measure a 5vDC signal it gives good result. , but if I change the maximum setting to 6v then it gives me results.also bad behavior is different for different signals for example when I measure a 6.5 VDC to signal that it shows me the voltage as 7.3V...

Photo of my code of VI is attached... Please answer... or give me another code that works fine at the voltage of a signal reading.

  • Measure the current and voltage using DMM sharing a port

I want to measure pressure several times on a pcb, where I connect the ports of digital multimeters to the card using simple cards. Switching between the different voltages is done using simple. If the black port of DMM (the second from the top photo) is connected to the Earth to give the measure correct volt.

And then I want to measure current through different lines. The problem is here. Given that two measurement types share a port, how do I get the correct voltage and current measurement? The second port of top would be grounded, so I can't use the method of measuring the voltage across the line through a resistance with a known value, since then the second port must not be connected to the ground. How can I use the current state of the DMM measurement? How measure current? Are there examples of this? Tried looking through manuals, but could not find the good starting points.

so I can't use the method of measuring the voltage across the line through a resistance with a known value, since then the second port must not be connected to the ground.

On all of my games to test I have to mux my land of the signal along with the salvation of my signals.

All my mux test sets are set up for the topology 2-wire because there is no other way to do it without the weak side of switch also.

You have a floating signal source. Have you connected resistances to remove polarisation currents? Look at Table 1 at this link and make sure that you connect the wires in this way:

Wiring and considerations of noise for analog signals

You mention that you use differential channel AI0 again I can see that you measure AI4 on your façade. Have you tested the Max connection? Are what kind of reading you there? Don't forget to select the continuous Acquisition and acquire 100 samples to 1000 Hz. display a snapshot of the reading you get there.

  • Calibration with NI9237 and NI9944 strain gauge.

    Gentlemen.

I have a cDAQ9172 OR with NI9237 and the bridge 1/4 NI 9944. Practically, I'm working on measures of strain gauge issues using a strain than 120 ohms connected to the NI9944 to build the bridge half happening inside of 9237. I have a continuous doubt how is the calibration for the strain gauges. The manual speaks of a shunt resistance which, in the case of NI9944, is already in the system. The manual says that I don't have the shunt resistance external nee. It is clear.

    My question is this:

the menu for calibration requires a resistance value that I don't know, I'm leaving in the value proposed by the menu of NOR. The strain gauges takes easily compensate, so I always have to recalibrate the channels in the NI9237. Is this normal? Can a (application to 2.0 V strain gage) voltage of 2.5 [V] generates a continuous drift of the measure?

    Strain gauges are: EA-06-125BT-120

    Hi cgenco,

Because the NOR-9237 with 9944 uses an internal resistance for shunt calibration, you need not to worry about the value of the shunt resistance. Take a look at the following article that specifies how connections are made. Calibration article will show you the basics behind how to exploit.

Also, since there is a ratiometric measurement, the voltage is 2.5V shouldn't matter as long as your pawn takes care of everything.

  • Measure the resistance with PXI DMM 4072 on different frequencies

    Hi all

I tried to get on board various and unable to find solutions for that. I'm trying to measure resistance using NI PXI-4072 on frequencey 1 kHz, but not luck. When I try to use Agilent LCR meter I see the correct value of the resistance.

I've seen a few posts on this but don't have no satisfactory solutions.

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/Digital-Multimeters-DMMs-and/LCRmeter-test-frequency-for-resistance-measurem...

In above post, someone said that I can use 4072 DMM OR digitizer, does not have a lot.

Can someone please provide the right path for me to solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Hello Puneet_K,

I checked the data sheet and the method of measurement described in the specifications of the NI 4070/4072 http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371304g.pdf; indicates that the ability is measured using an alternating signal and select the test frequency range, for example 3 kHz, 1kH or 91 Hz. The resistance is simply measured using a DC signal, and it is often sufficient to measure the internal resistance of a battery. If you need a more flexible control for the measurement, you probably get a card like the function generator and then set a multimeter to measure the voltage and another DMM to measure the current and calculate the impedance of these values.

    I hope this helps!

    Kind regards

  • measurement of voltage longer distant

    Hello Forum,

I have a very important question. I want to measure the voltage difference between two locations on a surface which are location 100 meters. So I'm going to use long cables. The sensors are reference electrodes. What connection mode will be the best for this measure? Single Ended (one of the references in the ground), which is the difference?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated and kudo'ed

    Hello

I'm not familiar with the reference electrodes, but I think I'd go with a differential configuration for your application because of the length of the cable (I'm guessing 2x50m or more?). Here is a tutorial about voltage measures: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7113 I hope that you will find some ideas on it.

The problem is that any current through long threads will cause a voltage drop noticeable across the cable leading to the precision of the measurements. It is further complicated by different loops of Earth created between the ground potentials.

  • I want to conceive the loop or counter to measure the data...

    Hello

I want to design a loop or a counter to measure data.

For example I want to measure the voltage and capacitance, and then I want to plot the graph for this.

Thing is I firstly want to measure the voltage 0V

    then 1 v

then again meter come to 0v or reset and measure 2v

then for 3v meter come back to 0v and go for 3v...

All these data should be save to a table and then I want to design graphic chart allowing to measure data.

Please can you help me that how can I design such counter or loop?

  • Can a module SCXI 1102 with a block of 1303 b cause some channels of reading of the voltage signals and other signals of current reading at the same time?

    Hello

I'm trying to use two sensors of moisture Omega HX85BA and experience two CFI mass flowmeters in current loop. Humidity sensors have three outputs 0 - 10V, while flow meters have two outputs 4-20 Ma. Can I have all four sensors to wire to the same block of connection SCXI-1303 and read all the signals in the same VI? the block is connected to an SCXI 1102 b card and a 6052E DAQ of NI PCI card.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello BBalmforth,

Yes it can. Although you will need external resistances (I recommend resistors precision for better accuracy) for current signals. The SCXI 1102 b is indirectly measuring the current by measuring the voltage drop across the resistance. The table below describes the current diagram and how it will seek in LabVIEW and DAQ assistant.

  • How to measure high voltage (60-70 v) and current (75-80 a) using a DAQ PCI or USB DAQ

    Hello

I work with a system that works on about 5kW. The output of the system voltage can go maximum up to 60-70 v and thus the corresponding current around 75-80 a. I have 10 these systems that I want to read one by one continuously for long periods.

I am designing the automated system best suited for this and looking for the best material that would be appropriate for this purpose. Looking for options, I found that an SCC - A10 attenuator may be used to get the tension down by a factor of 10. But I'm confused, if the high current will pose a problem and also how to measure this high current.

I need to measure the voltage and current at the same time. Please suggest what would be the most appropriate fitting for the same (preferably PCI or USB)

The hope of a quick response. Thanks and greetings
