Media card reader problem

The green light on my media player is constantly on, because he thinks that there is a card in there. It is causing all sorts of problems with my PC. I did search back issues with media card on the forum readers to find a solution. The closest solution to you, that I could find is below.

http://h30434.www3.HP.com/PSG/board/message?board.ID=HardwareDPC&message.ID=5888&query.ID=211647#M58...

I tried to put the card in and out with no luck. I restarted the PC with no luck. I tried to disable and re activate each in Device Manager. The solution to the issue I found suggested that uninstall all the different reading devices and restart. Someone at - it any other suggestions on how I should approach this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hello

Thank you for your response. Sorry for the lack of information in my post. In fact, I have corrected the issue last night. What I did get another sd card and insert that into the card reader. Then, I went through Explorer and clicked on, safely remove and it worked. I think that the problem could be with the previous card is not removed correctly, or that the other card was causing problems for some reason any.

Thanks again for your help,

  • Media card reader disappears from leading to the card not being recognized under computer

Original title: two years with media player card hardware/software problem?

When I insert my card player media the G, H, I and J readers disappear which leads to the card is not recognized. If I completely shut down my computer, they come back and the card will read for this session. This does not happen if I do a simple reboot. My computer is not quite two years old and it lasts since almost the beginning. Dell has replaced once the card reader and cable three times and the motherboard. The last technician who came to me thinking that it might be a software Bus USB error. All drivers have been updated. I am at my wits end, because the problem does not happen whenever I inserted the card, but now, it happens more frequently. This problem seems to occur with the map of media player. And Yes, it happens with all Media Player cards. I mainly use this computer to upload photos. I was told NOT to back up my computer because, if it was a software problem I just would be to reinstall the problem once I did a restore. Is there someone out there who can help?

    Hi Chris,

I was finally brave enough to install the updates of the firmware. I went from the 7.8 version version 7.12, but no luck. Initially, it worked, but once my computer came into fashion 'sleep', and I returned to use again, it didn't work. This has been a problem for almost all the time that I owned the computer. Very very frustrating!

    Any other suggestions, anyone?

  • Dell XPS 8900 media card reader write protected: how to remove the protection?

I use the card reader to write mp3 files on a micro-SD card to use in a small MP3. Until today, no problem. Now I get the error 'write protected' - and it is not because of the tab in the adapter SD being in the wrong position.

There were a few quirks days when card readers are presented as explicit readers in this PC, but this phenomenon disappeared when I restarted the computer. I suspect that this may be related.

Advice as to how do these ports without protection would be appreciated. Meanwhile, Plan B, using a to a USB external card reader works.

Also: Run Windows 10 as originally installed on the computer.

The outcome: diskpart approach after trying and failing, I decided to try canned air in the slot for the fourth time (this is what I did the first time that the crack would not read and later that day).

This time I gave him a dose really long and deep air under pressure. And voila, he now writes and reads.

Sorry to take all this space on what turned out be a non-issue, or should have been.

I have three other computers with media slots, two of them for close to three years, and no one has posted this question - as in my XPS 8900 after only three weeks of minimal use of niche.

Guess never say never is a good adage.

  • DELL Studio XPS 435 t/9000 card reader problem

I have received my computer desk DELL XPS9000 exactly one month ago. In the first week, the hard drive has failed. If Dell sent a technician has replaced the hard drive.

Last week, the card reader does not read the SD card. I found that there is a "unknown device" under Bus computer USB controllers, the Device Manager. I was following result after runing DELL self-test - "error initializing Test results: device, 5 d 00 error Code: 0009, Msg: UUTUSBTM - DEVICE_INITIALIZATION_FAILURE user must attach the RH 3 port unit and re-start the test.

Contacted DELL XPS technical support. The agent could not solve the problem after you install several drivers. He will then plan to send a technician to replace the card reader.

It seems that I am not alone with this problem. I wonder if there is lack of system design with this nice computer.

I've had this problem forever. Problem is that the media player is left in a State of 'strange' because of a BSOD, and I have not found the cause of THE BSOD this.

My 435 t comes with Vista, and not until I upgraded to W7 I was able to get a handle on this. W7 has reported that the device did not work. Before this Dell replaced the unit and cable. This device appararurent again, only to stay for about 2 weeks. I had it happen once before too, and support me try to remove and reinsert the cables, but I couldn't reach them (support hung up before I could try) and had only tried the device itself, not the motherboard. I called back and said I could not and they sent the parts. Later arrived before the parts I decided to try again by taking unscrew, but I've loosened it and feared the screw would fall into the system and it has tightened. The unit was working again? However, two weeks later he failed. Items sent and installed and it worked.

2 weeks about go by and it fails. Dell asked me to reinstall Vista and format during the installation. I hesitated and pushed them to do the following. Send a motherboard... and they did it, it was installed and the machine worked. Change the motherboard to solve another problem, 2nd DVD drive opens randomly and narrow when I open the first time, after that, worked OK. That stopped happening.

After that, I installed W7. Got a BSOD running DVD Flick (there are reports of this failure on Dell because IASTOR, the SATA driver) and the re-start, W7 has reported that a USB device does not work. Well, the media player was gone... open the folder, messed with the wires on the side of the motherboard, case closed, re-boot and it worked again... now I know the "fix."

It turns out that the fix is REALLY SIMPLE, pull the power cord, wait for the green light to go a little longer, plug the power cord from back in and reboot. Fixed a problem.

Well, I'd call it a work-around. The real problem is the device USB is not be initialized, either because the BIOS does not power on or the unit was in such a State, it could not be. Removal of power resets the it.

I hope it works for you.

I have some problems with the MMC card reader on my M30X 128: i.e. SONY Memory Stick is regularly recognized as plugged into the slot, I can see it in the taskbar windows at the bottom of the screen and I can also remove it safely, but it does not appear in 'my computer resources such as he has done in the past.
I already tried to remove and reinstall the drivers, but without success.

    Hello

have you tried to use the memory stick in another computer? The problem is perhaps on the stick not on the drive.

If the memory stick is OK, I think that you need to restore the system with the recovery CD.

    Good bye

  • New installation of XP on Y550 - card reader problem

I pulled the hard drive a Y550 and put in a new drive. Install XP on CD. Went well.

Tried to update a driver with one of the drivers downloaded from Lenovo.

"Not enough place to expand on C:" it turns out that XP is recognizing the card reader, assigning "C:" and assign the hard drive "E:" I tried reassigning 'C:' disk hard by following the instructions on the web site of Ms. This has messed up the license key and the system does not start. Check the BIOS to disable the card reader, but didn't see any option to do so.

I need XP on this system and the hard drive must be "C:" I guess I could implement a system dual boot, installation of XP on the drive to Win 7, but I'd rather not.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Solved the problem by disabling USB in the BIOS then reinstalling XP. Everything now works even if I had to install the version of Win7 a few things in order to make them work. I can not configure Desktop Navigator (version of Win7, XP version does not) but at least it starts is and that's good enough for now.

  • Dv6-1001xx 4 GB of RAM, Windows 7 - xD card reader problem

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  Before I did and was able to get everything going, or so I thought, got all the drivers.  Apparently the card reader will not read my Olympus xD 1 GB card.  Pilots are JMicron and even tried to uninstall and install the Vista drivers, no luck.  It can read a SD card ok, so I thought, must be the map, except that my written camera pictures of her very well AND I tried it in a laptop (Vista Home Premium 32-bit) DV2200 and the Ricoh card reader could read in this laptop, without any problem.  I have 2 other cards xD more little ones who do not read in the DV6, but are well within the DV2200.  I have read this map ok until I installed Win 7, when I was with Vista 64 bit.  I did my install of Win 7 by letting it rename my old Windows to Windows.old folder, so I guess this is a new installation and not an upgrade, given that I wasn't using an upgrade disc.  I'm puzzled!  Shows Device Manager driver technology of memory and below, 4 controllers: JMB38X MS Host Controller, JMB38X SD Host Controller, JMB38X SD/MMC Host Controller and JMB38X xD Host Controller.  All show they work properly.  I don't see anything else to understand my problem, but if you need more info, I will not provide it.  Thanks for trying to help me!

  • Memory card reader problem

I have a HP Pavilion dv5-2134us running Windows 7, 64 bit.  In the past, worked the small memory card reader to the front.  It does not now.  There must be a switch somewhere in the device manager - not to conclude.  There must be some downloadable HP driver - was not found.

    1. There is absolutely no problem with the camera (s).  Same model, several units.

    2. There is absolutely no problem with the memory chips.  Down them on another laptop HP as well last night.

    3. I checked to see if pins were crooked on the card reader-not.

    What is the solution?

I need a specific link to windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit driver for the memory chip card reader.

I need a specific way to find the on/off switch in the Device Manager.

If you run the operating systems Windows 95, 98 and old, be aware that Microsoft has changed names, places and so on.  So, tell someone what has worked 5 years ago may not work today.

    Hi @bdcochran01 ,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read on your HP Pavilion dv5-2134us Entertainment Notebookand of problems with a memory card or a player.  Here is a document on the memory card reader troubleshooting.

Sometimes, Windows 7 will not allow any change in the drivers here is a solution for this.

First of all, try to click on the Windows icon, type services in the start search box, and then click or tap on the advice of local Services. Scroll down to the Windows Installer. Startup type must be - automatic and the service status should be - started
Restart the computer after this stage and try to reinstall.

Here is a link to the software for the Alcor Micro Card Reader, to make sure that it is installed.

  • USB card reader problem

I had problem with a USB SD card reader. Can I use the card reader in another PC, but when I use it will be my home PC, it always fails, and try again to load the driver.

Is it possible that I have delete all the USB setting and rediscover the USB device again?

    Hi, surfer,

Of course, open the Device Manager and uninstall the device.

Make sure you have the driver handy to reinstall if it does.

  • SD card reader problems

I got an error message that says: usb device not recognized and my card reader stops working.  not even the little green light comes on when you insert the card (built in reader, multy.)  I reboot but no go.  Suddenly, he started working for a while on its own.  then I get the same message and it no longer works.  What could be the problem.

    rippertoe,
Well, I think that we have exhausted all the options except to re - install Vista.  If you can not install updates and System Restore does not work, you will have to reinstall Vista.  We tried all repair options.  When he had run the System File Checker, he found the all bad files and if so, it repair?

This is a help article to guide you through the re - install.  Make sure that you have all the data saved or recorded on CD or DVD.  Let us know if you need assistance with this procedure.

  • Another 5-in-1 Media Card Reader Question, ZV6000 series

I have a Pavillion ZV61000 ()PN494AV) who works fantastic for the last 4 years.  I recently upgraded to 2 1gig RAM and installed a new drive hard and so re-loaded XP Professional from the "recovery" disk supplied with the laptop.

I was at HP Total Care and updated all the drivers and to update.microsoft.com to update the drivers even more.

However, the only thing that doesn't seem to work is built in the 5-in-1 card reader.  On the SD (2 giga) SD card, it wants me to format and when I try, he then refuses to format the card and my HP from my DSLR 4Gig SD card, will not show in my computer.   Shows Device Manager everything works fine.

Today, I went to HP.com and downloaded the driver suggested sp30714.exe ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp30501-31000/sp30714.exe and installed without success.

I read everywhere on the internet where people are having the same problems with their readers of meda 5-in-1 of a regenerating of the lines of portable Pavilion.

All I know, for me, the drive worked fine until I reloaded XP and having to assume the driver is bad or out of date.  However, none of those from HP.com or Microsoft seem to work either.  Cards (both the 2and 4 gig) are legible on the laptop USB external drives, so I can assume that this is not a problem recognition SD card, but rather a physical card or software reading number for the built-in player and because the drive worked very well under the original XP installation, I have to assume this is a problem of software between Windows and the drive so a pilot of the question.

I searched the Forum, and that some problems are similar that they were not my particular model of HP and I don't know if this is a factor in the resolution of the problem.

    Any other suggestions?

    Solved!

Found this solution and although I do not have these models of laptops, once I downloaded the patch and installed, 4Gig cards were suddenly readable.

    DIFFICULTY for HP 5-in-1 incompatibility.

  • XPS 8700 Media Card Reader does not appear anywhere

I have an 8700 old XPS to a month that is upgraded to win 8.1 (64-bit).  I tried to use the card reader for the first time yesterday with no success.  No indication after you have inserted an SD card (I tried 2), nothing in the file Explorer.  No obvious entry in Device Manager stating the existence of the device.  No HW in Device Manager, indicating problems of HW.  Any ideas other than opening the box to see if it is connected?   Bailey05

Had the same problem with xps8700, win8.1.  Reference called Dell.  Were told to stop, unplug the machine, hold the power button for 15 seconds, then restart.  Worked like a charm!  Has been said that it is because the static load on the card reader.  Don't know if that's true, but the fix worked! Easy!
