Media Center cannot detect the CBS signal

When I connect my antenna directly to the TV, I pick up CBS (channel 19-1) live without any problems, but no matter what I do or I place the antenna, when I connect the antenna to my dvr PC, Windows Media Center does not detect any signal of CBS and the intensity of the signal never changes.  All others, the stations/channels are, even those from Akron, who are believed to have weak signals.  I tried to add a new channel 19-1 with the frequency provided online, but WMC will not let me create another channel to 19-1, indicating the number of the channel is already in use even when the original channel is deselected. I have a friend in the region, which also runs a PC dvr and he says that he can not get CBS via WMC or another.

Any ideas?

PS. The PC dvr currently has Windows Vista, but I intend to upgrade to Windows 7 in the near future.

Original title: when setting up Windows Media Center, I get the error message: "IR hardware not detected".

I have an internal TV Tuner that has been installed by HP, when I bought recently a "computer build-your-own." (According to the control panel Device Manager, my tuner is a Win TV HVR 1290, made by Hauppauge). The computer came with Windows 7. While installing Windows Media Center, after setting up the TV Signal (on channel 3) I am able to see a video thumbnail on my computer screen. I am also able to change the channel using my remote control U-Verse (not the Windows remote control supplied with the computer). So far so good! I then hit next and get the following message: "Windows Media Center cannot detect the IR control cables, which are necessary to control the set-top box. Fixing parts IR that supports the IR control cables and then try again. IR HARDWARE NOT FOUND ".  After you receive this message, the installation procedure is completed. I called HP that support intalled the tuner. They had not the slightest idea what to do. I then called Hauppage customer (manufacturer of TV Tuner). They said that I need to plug one end of the IR Blaster cable that shipped with the computer in a slot in the back of my computer (they told me which slot). They said so to run the IR all the way cable to my cable box and the other end of the cable to my cable box of band. They said it was necessary to be able to use my Microsoft Remote to instruct the box to change channels (cable IR stuck on the box). I told her that I did not use the Microsoft Remote, I could change the channel with my U-verse remote (that I preferred to use anyway). He said that it took the cable on the band decoder in order to remove the error message and the installation of Windows Media Center. I then called U-Verse technical adapter who informed me of their set-top boxes (made by Cisco Systems) do not have the ability to receive signals IR IR Blaster cable (or any othe IR signal source). Microsoft is apparently not understand how U-Verse set-top boxes are designed to work and sells a product incompatible remote control/IR. My question is this: How do I set up Windows Media Center, in order to avoid getting the error message "IR hardware not detected" when you install Windows Media Center and just use the remote control of the U-Verse that I prefer to use in the first place. Once understand you this point, please send the information to HP, At & T U-Verse and others. Thank you.

Ron, I have something for you!

and for all the people who have this problem :)

Hi, I had the time of IR not detected in Windows 7 Ultimate with a TV wonder 650 card and a box of digital adapter from Verizon for my PC... Go on the road to installation and after the Media Center channel search, choose manual configuration. Choose the aerial signal (I aso picked after this analog) l. After he sought more, he finds no channels.  Do not be afraid. Just accept it and go to the main settings page in the Mediacenter. If I remember correctly, then select TV Guide. Choose Add channel. I added the channel 3.

Since my Verizon box has no IR for the computer, I added the channel 3 for the media Center and I change the channels with my Verizon remote. All my stations in the Verizon box go to Channel 3.

The story here is so, for some reason any Windows detects that only my box channel signal TV and you must manually configure the media center on the air, then go to settings and add the channel you want in the guide.

Why the guide TV control which channel you can tune is beyond me, but the scanner locks all channels, it does not detect. they must be added manually in the guide.

My TV works and looks okay now.

    It actually works!

the only problem is that it is not in HD

  • Windows Media Center cannot detect the error DVD Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD into the drive

Original title: why Windows Media Center does not detect my DVD?

I built my computer motherboard ASUS P658D, Intel i7 processor clocked at 2.6 gHz, 12 GB RAM, 750W Corsair PWR. power, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit & ie9. When I put or the other two DVDs in one of two DVD players, Windows Media Center appears and when I click on "Play DVD" Media Center give me a window that says:

"Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD in the drive." Two DVDs, I've tried are educational for DVD

my Nikon D300 Digital camera and a family video DVD or both these very well play in a bed of same computer running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, & ie8.

I tried Microsoft Fixit, no help. I tried to send Microsoft Support, and I got NO HELP. I did not bring any changes, and installed any program, just

scoured the internet. A DVD player is a Sony Optarc with Microsoft Driver, the other is ASUS. I also tried to use Windows Media Player but nothing

rises or it returns me to Windows Media Center and it does not detect to play either of my DVD. How can I get help here, or from Microsoft? Thank you.

No, there is no yellow warning in Device Manager and the device manager says that two DVD players work properly. Mr. Fix it's

automated download from microsoft that is supposed to automatically fix some problems, but he provided no help here. I think it is more likely

that there is a problem with Windows Media Center or Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and either of my two new Sony DVD drives

    and ASUS.

I thought my way in a solution. My thought was: Device Manager indicates DVD players work properly and both are new and we're Sony, and the other ASUS so I think only an unlikely problem with readers. The problem is with Windows Media Center "do DETECTED is not the DVD. So there must be a problem with Windows Media Center. I thought that I might need to reinstall Windows 7... then I thought that maybe if I just reinstall Windows Media that will work. He did. My problem was:

Start > Panel > programs and features > features on or off Windows activate > then uncheck the box for multimedia functions > restart the computer > and then re-check the box to restore the multimedia features > now both discs play both DVDs, I tried. Both disks are operating normally. Reinstall the characteristics of media Windows 7 resolved the problem. Thanks to all who offered solutions.

  • Vista Media Center - TV station changed its frequency. Media Center cannot find station on the new frequency.

My ABC (Cincinnati) local affiliate, WCPO, today broadcasting on Channel VHF 9 - 09/12/2010. They are now on a UHF frequency radio. I don't know what channel/frequency. When this switch occurred, Media Center has started to display the message "No TV signal". Apparently, the Media Center picks up information of the station from a central location and not be notified of this change.

I have downloaded the latest Media Center Guide, turn the computer off and then restart Vista. This did not help.

Went to 'Task'-> 'Settings'-> 'Set Up TV Signal' this morning (9:30 EST, 11/12/2010) and went into the channel configuration process. When I finished, WCPO Channel 9 has been available again. Here is the line from the file atscchannel.xml for WCPO it appears now:

  • Cannot get remote windows media center to change the channel on Cisco DTA50! Help!

During the TV signal together towards the top there is no option for "Cisco".  Then I select "Unlisted" and setting up tells me there is nothing that can be done and leave the whole upward. Media Center will learn the remote control IR codes because it does not pick up the DTA remote this process.   I was finally able to get a "tv signal" implemented by choosing comcast, although this isn't my cable tv company, , but still the wmc remote will not change channels on the DTA cisco. The wmc remote works fine and changes channels in the real of windows media center, but because the string must be changed on the real DTA there on some channel I entered on the DTA remote. Since I use record TV WMC, indicates on the guide, it's impossible, unless I can get the DISTANCE WMC, put in place to change the DTA channels!

    I need help!

I was finally able to set up the remote after tweaking autour with IR receiver. I have even connected infrared diffuser!

  • Windows Media Center cannot sync/set up with AT & T UVERSE

Windows Media Center cannot configure/sync with my cable TV box. ((See system put in place/info below)

I spent about 10 hours trying to solve this problem.  Tried every way Windows Media Center allows you to configure, automatic, manual (tried all listed codes), IR remote learning. I searched the web, talked with HP technical support for more than 3 hours, talked with Motorola, ATT UVERSE, someone seems to have a solution.  Based on troubleshooting, I have it so far, I'm a 90 + % sure it's soley configuration of Windows Media Center TV of UVERSE problem of decoder.

I can get a TV signal on the computer through Windows Media Center and get my cable TV box to make it work, but it's as close as possible. The remote control works, all connections are correct, IR blaster or transponder is located correctly on my TV receiver.

In the IR remote control learn installation manual configuration (I think this is one of the two) or Windows Media Center asks you to press and hold the "0" on your remote decoder, pointing to your receiver IR from PC.  When I press on it it seems to answer by saying to continue to hold then it ask you to release what I'm doing, then I get an error message.  It is the closest, I learned to operate.  I tried a few tricks/variations on this that I found on this site and others, but not luck.

Another question the image that I get, but cannot control with Windows Media Center is of very poor quality (worse than a bad cell phone video on youtube), I guess that's more hardware related issue, but I had a machine good enough speced. Also, there is a time delay major and variable (4-5 seconds) between the time you press a button on the decoder TV and you see the answer on the machine, which makes it very difficult to operate.

I keep trying to stay on the PC band wagon, but of course, the other side seems to be much less difficult to get simple things to work.

    Anyadvice is appreciated.

  • Windows Vista Ultimate Media Center cannot connect to Xbox 360

Hi, I can not connect my PC Ultimate Windows Vista for my Xbox 360 as an Extender. My configuration is:

Xbox connected to the router, PC connected to the router
Xbox connects to Live (e.g. internet) very well
    PC connects to the internet

Here is a list of the things I've tried so far:

Tried to connect Xbox normally (using the digit 8, many times)
    Computer restarted/Xbox
    Reset the router
    Installed all Windows updates
    Turned off the Windows Firewall
Turned on Windows Firewall, with exceptions for Media Center Extenders
Opens the ports on my router
    UPnP enabled on the router
    Unchecked "filter multicast" on router
Updated drivers for the network adapter on PC
Checked the event viewer for a conflict event program:
    Source: Media Center Remote Manager
    Event ID: 8
Description: Unauthorized window was detected while running the Media Center experience, Program_name window, under the name of file Program_name.exe
I tried to delete the certificate (it did not exist) for Media Center according to the http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/932163. I could not uninstall the Extender (part II) well because it is not installed.

I am pretty sure that the problem is with the Xbox or PC (and not on the network), since up to last month, I've had a laptop XP Media Center using the Xbox as an Extender very well, using settings and identical network hardware. In this context, I unplugged the connection of the laptop Media Center Xbox, and I erased the extender connection data according to the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932208/en-us. (This does not work either.)

Notice that I can see the Xbox when you view the network on my PC devices.

I've been at this for hours! Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Xbox 360 Media Center Extender loses the connection to the media center to Windows 7 after change of router

I have a Windows 7 Media Center box, and an Xbox 360 that I use as an Extender.  The two connections to the same wired router.  Everything worked fine until I went on my old router (failed) and put in a WNDR4300.   After the new router has been installed, I didn't have the Extender work then, deleted from the media Center and re - he added.  It worked but after I shut off/started the xbox, no link.  It is repetitive: I can make a new connection, but then it didn't reconnect after reboot of the xbox.

    Check/change:

-J' changed to a static IP xbox

-There is no part 3 a / v or a firewall on the support center

-L' on the media center network adapter is 'home '.

-The network card on the media center * fact * show the xbox 360

-The event log after the xbox is restarted shows:

event ID 538: installation of media center extender does not like the Extender has been detected on the network, but for the Extender upnp search failed (timed out after 20000ms)

-How long before it, I have found that the service IS running upnp device host (and set to auto)
