  • Windows 7 Media Center Live TV and recorded TV no sound.

After the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 and get all the drivers updated, Windows 7 Media Center has no sound for TV or recorded TV, but sound works for all other programs, including just play music in media center.  Reading DVD and Bluray will similarly play with surround sound with HP DVD BD play, then it is certainly not an audio card/driver problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

An additional note: If you look at mixing devices, remember that you have multimedia running. If you do not, it may appear not as part of mixer. When I got a pronlem with no sound in WMC, but WMP worked (as well as my other apps), it turns out be the problem, but you would only see it when WMC is running.

Thanks, my TV sound is is arrested without reason, but everything except the sound effects in media center worked. turned out that some how the mixer was gone the media center to 0 and left it like that.

  • Windows Media Center almost completely broken and ehRec.exe take 50% CPU

My windows media center is broken. Part, but probably not all, the problem is ehRec.exe uses up to 50% of the CPU, which means that it is completely connected because I have a computer with dual-core CPU.

Do not record scheduled recordings. Sometimes, I can't even in media center. It becomes inadmissible. Usually just after a reboot, I can enter (which starts the record if we were waiting) but not if I first have to do other things. It seems that my media center just kaput.

There is not any other journal entries of interest, with the exception of those who say that I started a record while the show was in progress. I get those now, when I start media center just after the restart, because he wasn't already record where it should be.

Is it possible to reinstall completely media library? I tried to run Setup, but it blocks half the time with ehRec.exe pounding to the CPU. I see that other people have the problem of ehRec.exe (beginning around mid-August), but it doesn't seem to be a real solution to this problem.

Remove any recent update of microsoft .net framework. I had this problem several times. The first time, he ended up reinstalling the entire system. Although I suspect that the recent update of the .net framework is the culprit, I was not skilled enough to remove it first.  This time I look for answers elsewhere and no one really had a clue. Then I removed the .net framework 4 client update and voila, problem solved. I hope it will work for you, if you don't have not messed around first with other parts of the system too. I tried scannow /sfc solution, but really... This only works if you have the most recent operating system on the disk. Many have download updates, service pack, Microsoft and therefore, cannot provide a disk with the appropriate files. Anyway, it is not the solution. Apparently, the way of downloading these updates of .net framework is important. I don't know the solution for a correct installation of updates, but do not know that the 50% CPU problem is solved EVERY time, repealing the last update. Hope this helps someone. I have certainly spent enough time and lost enough when microsoft updates, disable the operation of my computer. Unfortunately, it's the solutions we try that sealed the fate of our readers. I lost 15mos of professional documents in my records of e-mail in September of my attempts stupid to solve this problem, after that a previous update of .net framework caused my duty reinsall windows.

    Hello

    (1) have you installed Windows XP Media Center Edition on your computer?
    (2) what is the brand and model of the computer?

You can try the following method and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
    (a) computer and do not open any other software before you watch TV. Close software may not be sufficient in some cases.
    (b) after the opening of Media Center, wait about 10 seconds before trying to watch TV.
    (c) If you have recently installed new TV tuner hardware, make sure it is properly connected/sitting, make sure that it is compatible with the version of Media Center you are using.
    (d) reinstall the TV tuner drivers. If you have installed a tuner separately, reinstall the drivers disc that came with the tuner.
    (e) use Windows system restore to restore the system at a time where the error will not occur.

    Method 2:
    (a) turn on the Media Center computer and connect to the Internet.
    (b) click Start, all programs, and then click Windows Update.
    (c) I agree to download plug-ins from Microsoft if you are prompted.
    (d) to read and respond to information on the Web page. Carefully read the page that the information may change from time to time.

    Method 3:
    (a) the television signal must come into the computer through the coax or s-video input. Make sure that you do not connect the standard video cable (RCA style) on the audio or the video output on the graphics card. Use the standard video adapter S-video if we use a standard video cable.
    (b) connect the end of the s-video cable or coaxial cable into a TV set to see if the cable is working properly.
    (c) ensure that the TV signal settings are correct for the Media Center software.

  • 'windows media center' on Vista32 and Vista64 can't see movies on 'disc of Windows 7 "

I have 2 Windows 7 machines.   We have a lot of movies (VOB files) 3 TB drive.   The other Windows 7 machine can play movies very well since Windows Media Center.  But I have 2 other machines (a Vista 32-bit and a 64-bit Vista).  The two Vista machines can see through Explorer, but in Windows Media Center movie files, nor machine can find movies when I try to add them to the library.

I use to have movies on discs smaller on Vista32 bit machine and all 4 machines could play movies very well.

Does anyone know of issues where WMC on Vista is not able to see movies on Windows 7 machines?     Thanks in advance.

  • Windows Media Center photo date AND time

Is it possible to have Windows Media Center to deliver photos in Date AND time order.  I have several photos taken at a given date in my folder, but WMC puts in the random time sequence in a date.  My Pictures folder is in date and time order

    Hi gingerandbuddy,

Follow the steps below to organize photos in media center in groups.
You can only group by alphabetical order and date wise, but you can also add the tag for photos that would make it easier to find photos.

    1. on the Start screen, navigate to pictures + videos, and then click picture library.
    2. click on Folders to sort your files and folders in alphabetical order, click date taken to sort your folders and files by date or click tags to sort your files by tags that have been applied. (To learn more about labels and how to use them, see tag pictures so they are easier to find.)

  • Vista Ultimate x 64 Media Center hang during and after the recording program

I recently bought a Sony VGC-RT150Y.  More information can be obtained here:

    http://www.SonyStyle.com/webapp/WCS/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&StoreID=10151&langid=-1&ProductID=8198552921665507557

    Highlights of material are:

    NVIDIA® GeForce® 9600M GT GPU

AVerMedia 313 has (analog TV tuner card)

AVerMedia A317D (digital TV tuner card)

The unit works Vistax64, Ultimate Edition.  I installed all the updates that are available through Microsoft Update.  And there is no download with Sony indicating that they could help solve the problem I have.

The problem is that the computer hangs sporadically after that it registers a program.  After a night of record unattended, the unit is on and does not respond to the keyboard.  The display is blank or frozen.  The computer is connected via a wired network.  I try clicking of the camera and it does not.

Sometimes programs are saved in their entirety.   Sometimes programs are truncated.

When I try to get more information via the monitor of performance & reliability, all I get is "stop disruptive."  When I go into the control panel "Report Problems", there is no reported problems.  History of recording program in Media Center lists only one generic error indicating power has been disrupted or the system was not available.  I know that there is no power failure, because I have a NAS connected to an inverter and there is no paper power failure.

I reported the problem to Sony.  They sent a technician to replace the power supply and the motherboard.  Still no change.

Defective equipment could only be a TV tuner or the RAM.  All other material was traded through the exchange of motherboard.

I'm now back to thinking it's a software problem.  Any ideas on how to start this chasing?

After having poking around on the forums and a little thought, here's what I'll try:

    1. play with the power settings to ensure that the unit never sleeps.  I want to see if the problem is with MCE or power management.

    2. try 'analog' instead of digital recording.  I'm mainly recording clear QAM channels.

I'd be open to other suggestions that you (all) may have to try to understand this.

    Hi Claude,.

Thank you for writing to Microsoft answers Community Forums.

Re-run the installation of Windows Media Center and check if it crashes while recording. To do this, follow these steps:

    2. click tasks, and then click settings.
    3. click TV, and then click Set Up TV Signal.
    4. When you are notified that changing TV signal settings will interrupt recording, click Yes.
    5. on the Set Up Your TV Signal screen, click Next.
    6. check that the correct area is selected, click Yes, this region to configure TV services and then click Next.
    7. click on configure my TV signal automatically and then click Next.
    8. check that the TV signal configuration settings are correct, click Yes, and then click Next.
    9. click on lists Guide Setup and then click Next twice.
    10. in the privacy of the Guide screen, click Yes, and then click Next.
    11. If you agree to the terms of use of the Guide, click on I agree, and then click Next.
Note to continue, you must click on I agree to accept the terms of use of the Guide.
    12. click on manual download and then click Next twice.
    13. When you are prompted, type your ZIP Code or the Postal Code, and then click Next.
    14. If you are prompted, verify your signal provider, and then click Next.
Note After Windows Media Center Download the Guide, the Internet connection is no longer necessary.
    15. follow the remaining steps to complete the installation. You may have to restart Windows Media Center.

If the problem persists, reply came back with the following details:
    1. Since when are you facing this problem?
    2. is it works much earlier?
    3. have you made changes recently, until this problem occurred?
4 display error messages that are recorded in the event log and let us know if you find errors.
    To view the event viewer:
-Click Start, in the start search box tpe eventvwr.msc, and then on enter.
-Select the Application's entry in the left pane
-In the right pane, locate the entry for preceded a red X error

    It will be useful.

    Kind regards

I have Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with Service Pack 3 and I tried to run Media Center but I get an error message with ehshell.exe. Could you help me?

This problem exists since the 1st Media Center. SP2 and SP3 had a difficulty, but it is obvious that it doesn't always. The same problem still exists in Vista today with a lot of other carried over from XP. System restore would work, but you do not have any good restore points so reinstall an operating system seems to be your only option.

You probably don't want to do an OS reinstall you need for Media Center, but since it does not at all, you might want to play then remove the Media Center updates and or SP3 and reinstall them.
