  I suggest you follow the steps below

  Method: 1

  Enable and disable Windows Media Center. To do this, follow the steps below:

  a. Click Start, click Control Panel and then double-click programs and features.

  b. click on Turn Windows Features on or off.

  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  c. extend the functionality of media

  d. turn off Windows Media Center of the box, and then click ok

  e. follow the same steps as above, this time place a check mark against the Windows Media Center box

  f. click Ok, and then restart the computer

  I have a HP m8034n pc with a tuner Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC Combo.  The pc came with Vista and Windows media center worked great just with the tv tuner.  I upgraded to Windows 7, December 2 and fail to put in place my tv with WMC tuner.  The recorded shows that I had before the upgrade to Windows 7 appear and play without problem in WMC. I used the hardware diagnostic tool that is installed on my pc to control the Tuner, and during the test, I can see fine TV stations.  This unit is compatible according to microsoft Windows 7. I have the latest driver and tried to uninstall and reinstall. I ran Windows Update and everything is up-to-date. After that WMC checks tuners, it says:

  Analog cable (1 Tuner)

  Other tuners or TV signals were detected but will not be configured.
  (Show details)

  Is this Setup correct and complete?
  o Yes, configure TV with these results

  When I click on show details, it is said:

  I don't know what happened, I left my PC off overnight and planned reformatting today. But I decided to give him another chance. Instead of saying the tuner was not available. He showed me a static snow image strong, as he was trying to use my Analogue tuner. In fact, it is supposed to use the composite input for my cable box. I re set my TV signals, and now everything works well again. Its strange because I reboot half a dozen times last night and it's never worked. Leaving the PC turned off for the night must have done the trick, I guess.

Now, HP does not record with the laptop, instead, there is a recovery partition which can be transferred to DVD to create additional space on the HARD drive, I did. Unfortunately my DVD player no longer works, and I can not restore my XP to factory settings (new facility) because the HP restore software only reads from the DVD.

  This XP has become bloated over time, and I want to do a new installation.

  Im sure that you can watch TV recordings during live TV recording, but you can't watch a program during its course of recording.

  WMC stores the file in the Public TV folder saved on your hard drive by default, it is located at C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV.

  Suddenly, Windows Media Center Download the latest TV programming guide.  It worked fine, then all of a sudden it stopped.  WMC wonder if I want to download the latest Guide Listing.  I click on the download option, then he said: 'Guide lists have been downloaded successfully.   I started getting errors while recording in Windows Media Center, the program hangs and fails to save and I get the error message of signal loss.

I have WINTV7.1 for the HAUPPAUGE WINTV HVR - 850 external USB connected to the tv by similar cable card.   I did this as detailed as possible to help others with similar problems.

  I believe that Micorsoft hotfix support kb 981130 will solve my problem with loss of signal and gel of the records.   But the solution is designed for windows 7 and there is no information on the page for Windows Vista.

  Do you still have the same problem after performing the steps that was you on the list?

  If so, you can try to run a SFC scan to make sure that the system files are intact: How to use the tool File Checker system to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or Windows 7

  The only other option I can think is that the signal is in fact weak and therefore, the signal is lost.

  Assuming that the signal strength is good and the System File Checker was not working, the next step that I have to recommend would be to back up your files on an external and reinstall Windows:

  Install, reinstall, or uninstall Windows

  Nothing worked and I'm pulling my hair out.  I use WMC with an HDHomeRun and a map of Time Warner cable.  This facility worked well for more than a year before installing this update.  The machine is a Dell XPS 8300 running windows 7 SP1.   I'm unable to watch all channels protected by DRM and I lost all my legally registered content.  It is a disaster and cost me 30 hours and counting.  Anyone have any ideas?
