Media Player or Media Center will not recognize DVDs, but will play CD

I've had my laptop for about a year now. The media play would play a DVD without problem. Up to what a month ago I noticed that it would take more time and more time for the Media Player play a DVD. I can't have the media to listen to anything except a CD. I noticed a rattling when I inserted the DVD. Now he not only recognise a DVD, but when I insert a DVD, nothing will happen. I tried uninstalling the driver rest nothing is that nothing happens. Do I have to replace the whole player. In Media Center, it lists a DVD as being stored in the library, I the HELP JUST DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE DEVIL IS VA ON?

  • Vista Media Center will play is no longer the DVD or TV?

Windows vista media Center will not play TV, although he did it again and it will not read the DVD more, but there again. The answers would be gratefull.

OK, forget the TV, I have now it works well.

But I still can't read the DVD.

After having put in a disk, it makes a funny sound as if she is looking for the disc backwards & fordwards permanently. After some time when nothing is happening and I'm going to eject the disc, a popup said cannot detect a disk.

This happens on the plant as well as those burned discs.

What happens if you try to play outside of the WMC?
If it is it may be a disk problem.

  • Media center does not recognize the unencrypted HD channels

I'm trying to record live TV of TV that gets its strings by simply using the power (without decoder) coaxial cable. When I set up WMC, choosing the selection of regular (analog) cable packages it offers, I get all my channels except 5 or 6 unencrypted HD channels that offers my firmware. What are the channels that appear on my TV as fractional as channels 116.2, 117.2, etc.. I really want to record these HD channels. Is it possible to add them manually to the WMC?

    Hello MtnGoat,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers site.

You can check that the card TV tuner and model is a compatible TV tuner of QAM.

In addition, you can check if you are able to view the unencrypted channels when the cable is connected directly to the TV.

Here is a useful link which includes information on taken TV signals supported by Windows Media Center:

  • Windows Media Center does not recognize an Entone Hydra box/remote control cable

I'm putting in place the WMC to work with my cable box Entone. It's not satellite, this is the area used by CCC Southslope in Eastern Iowa. There is no section Entone for activation of the box, automatic remote recognition does not take into account. When I try to teach my cable remote codes manually it will "key to continue" but never moves from the teaching of the 1 button for button 2.  I am sure that the IR receiver works and is properly plugged in, and that the batteries in the remote are fresh.

Make sure the distance between the IR receiver and the remote control is quite close, there are no obstacles between the two and the whole set up is not under the direct fluorescent light.

  • DVD-RW/CD-RW Combo does not read DVD but can play CD

I used to have Windows XP on my laptop. I then decided to do a fresh install of Vista. Since I've upgraded to Vista, I put a DVD, then it asks me to "Please insert the disc in drive E". I have the latest firmware and have obtained the Windows drivers.

I really need my DVD player so I can watch movies on a holiday. Any help appreciated

    Hello!

The sound of it, looks like a hardware problem but on the other hand as you say that the problem has occurred after that you installed Vista. For this, there are very less reasons. but you can try the following, if it works.

    1. go in Device Manager, click on the dvd/cd rom drives and do a right-click of your player, click on uninstall and then you restart. The reader will be installed again when you restart. get a disc cleaner for dvd lens and clean you drive with it.

If the first did not help

    2. If you can do it yourself its good else take your laptop to a Mech and tell him to remove the drive and start the computer. then stop it and install the drive into the slot, tighten the screw and start your computer. This could help.

    on the other

    3. check if you insert a dvd does show all of the data at all? If another player gains a firend or ask Mech. install another drive and check it works.

  • Media Center will not recognize the internal TV tuner from Sony

Original svl24 title: sony + tv tuner + multimedia
Win7 Media center won't recognize the internal tv tuner Sony (Bravia). The installation program rises "tv tuner" not found. What is interesting, is that Sony SVL24 can detect and be able to use the TV without Media center option.  Anyone have a solution?

you have a link to your model of machine somewhere on the Sony site? the info I have
found the third sites indicates that there is no accessible software
TV for Media Center tuner. This information shows that you can watch TV without the
    computer is turned on.

To me, this indicates that the TV tuner is the type that you would have in normal
only TV (which is not capable of Media Center) support.

You can probably add a USB tuner to this all-in-one and watch/record TV via
Media Center, but it doesn't look like the 'tuner' in your computer is a
    "computer" tuner

I have a Dell PC with Vista Home Premium.  Until recently, when the operating system had to be reloaded, I watched decoder of live TV on Media Center for the past two years, using a Directv.  I have tried to re install the TV, but cannot complete the process, as my Directv remotes are not recognized.  The signal is fine (as of the previous steps shows the appropriate image and the signal, but the installation process cannot be performed due to the problem of distance not recognized. (The remote functions of the Directv box very well). How can I find use of the tv, Setup finish signal?

    Hello

You won't get HDTV without a Digital Cable Ready tuner and a cable card. How about you
will have need a HDCP compatible graphics card and a TV/monitor taking support this
    as well.
The kit Hauppage offers is substantially the same as I told you.

clear QAM availability varies according to the cable company. most begin to encrypt
    everything.

    > The same can be done through Windows Media Center, by clicking the video image by clicking on Zoom. But in MCE when you have a cable box, you will also need an approved Microsoft IR blaster to control the cable box. If you n? not have this part, you will get the IR hardware not found error. The HVR - 950 Q does not come with this, but if you really want to use Media Center, you can buy a kit from our online store here http://store.hauppauge.com/hardware2.asp?product=mce_remote remote"
